About this cabin rental

Located in Alabama, this charming cabin for $175 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. This Beautiful Cabin was taken timber by timber from its original location in Etowah County, Alabama. The cabin is pre-civil war in construction, it was reconstructed using the old mortar technique and then added on to in its current location. The Cabin sits on a private road behind a gate. Secluded is an understatement. Fenced yard for your doggies!. It is situated on a bluff overlooking the Crystal Clear East Fork of the Little River, just below a waterfall which can be heard as soon as you open the door to the car during the wetter seasons. We have an inviting front porch with a cozy antique swing where many a book has been read in the fragrant mountain air. The Cabin itself retains all of its antique charm as you enter the Great room with its enormous original stone double sided wood-burning fireplace serving the great-room and the Master bedroom both located on the lower floor. The Upstairs is separated by a staircase that leads to a private spacious upper loft that contains two Twin beds and a Queen Bed. There is a fully functional kitchen with stainless appliances/dishwasher/stove/oven/refrigerator/freezer. One Bathroom Downstairs, with High Efficency Maytag Washer and Dryer. Flat Screen TV with Apple TV/DVD/Inside/outside Stereo/Xbox/Wireless Internet/Dish Network/Central Heat and Air. Master Bedroom overlooks a large elevated back porch and the river can be heard from an open window. There is a large stone hearth wood burning fireplace in the bedroom. The Bedroom opens onto a cozy screened in porch with a 6 person water therapy spa/hot-tub. There is a charcoal grill on the back porch. There are steps to the fire-pit and picnic area overlooking the river, and steps to the river itself where depending on the water level you can swim/float/fish/lounge or sit in the crystal clear mountain water. The house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Mentone for antique shopping/cultural activity/or fantastic food and music at the Wildflower Cafe or other restaurants. The canyon is also about 10 minutes away, and 5 Minutes from Alpine Boys Camp, Desoto State Park, Desoto Waterfall, and Lake. There are wildflowers galore and wild blueberries and blackberries and plums along the road depending on the season. Wildlife abounds everywhere. The Tin Roof provides a great sound to sleep to when it rains. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER IN THE TEXT OF YOUR REQUEST SO I CAN GET BACK TO YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Loved the cabin. We stayed very possibly the five coldest nights in the history of Alabama, and loved the quiet stillness. We hiked, ate a lot, read, and did a lot of fun day trips. We would definitely stay again.

Away from it all, is just that! I have come to Mentone my whole life-It is my happy place. It is where I come to reset and center myself. I have stayed at 2 of their cabins now and they are my favorite. The location provides seclusion but is very close to the park and not a far drive to Dinner in Mentone (May 15 minutes). I love that you can hear the water from the deck and you have the option of a fire inside or a fire pit outside. Our dog Annie Oakley loved going down to the river every day and sleeping by the fire at night. The owner is extremely responsive, kind, and appreciates repeat visitors. The cabins are rustic but w modern conveniences. My dream is to retire in Mentone at some point but until then I will return to their rustic 1800’s cabins every time. Helpful hint- I did forget my fire starters and managed to channel my inner Girl Scout one night, however she did not return. The park store sells them!!!

We enjoyed our stay so much. It’s so quiet except for the lovely sound of the rushing water. The bed and pillows downstairs were very comfortable.

It was a perfect place nestled away from everything. But yet still close to everything, it was beautiful more than I could expect it. It loved all the little touches

The property is a cute log cabin that connects you to history with its rustic beams. It was relaxing and we were sorry that waterfalls and rivers were either completely dried up or barely flowing. It was still beautiful to explore the area, but we would have loved to know ahead of time that the levels were so low. We noticed a bad odor around our cabin and it definitely impacted the enjoyment of the property. We also noticed the odor when hiking around DeSoto Park. We guessed that it was decaying matter that was no longer covered by water, but we weren't sure. This cabin is perfect for a couple or up to 4 people along with animals. There was a fenced area for pets to run in which is a big plus for those traveling with pets. The furniture placement was awkward due to the room sizes, but it was still quaint and comfortable. Beds were comfortable and having a hot tub was a big plus. If you like seclusion, you will love it!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Cabin was very clean and everything was as advertised. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this cabin really lives up to it's name.
