This little cottage was a great place to stay. Well equipped to eat at home and not far from restaurants and stores. The owner was great at communicating and went above and beyond when we needed to adjust our stay. I highly recommend this place

This charming bungalow in Salvo was a double winner -- first, for the thoughtful, creative, and comfortable accommodations, and second, for the beautiful and sparsely populated beach! The home itself is well-appointed, with a nicely outfitted kitchen, great entertainment options, comfortable beds, and very nice outdoor seating. And the wall of Pez is not to be missed! A perfect getaway for my husband, me, and our two pups. Just a short walk to multiple public access points to the beach, which again, is beautiful. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for quiet and stress-free relaxation at the shore!

The cottage was very cute & comfortable but the area was just too far away from everything. Good restaurants is about all we can say about the area.

Renting through VRBO was a breeze. The house was spotless and decorated so adorably. My husband and I came to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary.We did have to leave early due to weather conditions of Hurricane Ian, but I know we would’ve had a ball.

Sister and I took our 88 year old mother with dementia to fulfill her love of fishing on Rodanthe Pier. This home was perfect and the steps were minimal for her to maneuver. Exceptionally clean and well decorated to please all 3 of us. Will highly recommend and consider a return in the spring.

Everything was easy about booking, finding, checking in and out. We pulled a wagon of beach toys and set up our spot. We enjoyed collecting sea shells, flying kites, swimming in the powerful waves, watching the surfers and reading and picnics on the beach. A very nice vacation. The cottage had everything we needed. Plenty of kitchen supplies. The outside shower was great. And we enjoyed sitting on the deck, the porch and the comfy couch. The only improvement I would recommend is an exhaust fan in the bathroom.

We had an enjoyable stay at this cozy beach cottage. It was very clean and had everything we needed. I absolutely love the way it's decorated and Tracy was very quick to answer any questions that we had. We can't wait to come back to our favorite beach next year and stay again!

Clean cozy home pretty much right on the beach on a quiet street. Already booked for next year!! This was our first time visiting OBX and we loved it.

Overall, we loved our stay at this house! Our family of 5 (including 2 dogs) loved the home and how close to the beach it was - a 3 min walk to the beach access and 5 mins through the sand dunes! The only downfall of the home is that the bedrooms get super warm (pack an extra fan and leave doors open when you sleep!) but it was manageable with the extra fans we brought. The kitchen had everything we needed, the screened in porch was nice to hang in the mornings and evenings, and the neighborhood was enjoyable to walk with the dogs! The town of Salvo is small, not many restaurants to go to, but still have options if you do go out. The ice cream shop, literally 3 blocks away, walking distance, was a HUGE hit. If you prefer to go out for meals, a 35ish min drive back up north to Nags Head for lots and lots of restaurants to choose from.

We were really happy with our stay. House was really clean, practical layout and organization, and was a really easy walk to the beach, even for our young kids. This place is definitely a “find.”

(Our rating would be a 3.5 but VRBO doesn't have half-stars) We stayed in Shell Cottage for a week with our family of 4 and a dog. The location is fabulous with the beach (surf side) literally in walking distance. The second bedroom having separate beds is a huge plus if you have 2 kids. The beds were very comfortable (we've found many VRBOs to have poor quality mattresses that are not replaced often enough) which we appreciated. Having one bathroom is challenging but you know that going in. The WiFi was excellent, no problems with connections, there's an X-Box which was fun, and the television/cable works great with lots of options for a rainy day. The kitchen is functional with some cute "nostalgic" appliances, good counter space, and a spacious refrigerator/freezer. The stackable washer/dryer worked just fine and is an essential if you're at the beach. The sun room / porch is nice space for the storage of your beach equipment and as described, the deck with picnic table is a wonderful place to have coffee in the morning and drinks at night. It really is a solid accommodation for a small family or couple, but there are some issues in our opinion. Overall the place is just old and in need of a facelift. The kitchen cabinets smell inside (bottom ones) and neither the cabinets nor the kitchen drawers appear to be maintained well...again they're just old. A lack of water pressure in the bathroom will have you showering in the outdoor stall, otherwise you're looking at a 15 minute shower minimum. The shower liner smells from mildew, is discolored, and needs to be replaced. As the property description states, there's one interior A/C unit for the cottage and it does work well for the immediate area it's hooked up to. The bedrooms will get "cool", but they never got as cool as the living room & kitchen, even with fans blowing. With all of the above said, know that the property owner is terrific to work with. She is very responsive and attentive to any concerns or needs that you have. If ratings were based solely on the owner, this would be 5-stars.

This retreat was everything we were looking for and more. Not only did we enjoy touring the lighthouses, sunrises and sunsets, we had the option of ocean or sound! While the riptides were only low for a day or two, the sound side was a perfect option, our pup preferred the more mild water. The home was nicely decorated and provided what needed in amenities. Thank you for a wonderful place to call home for the week. We hope to return some day! 😃

We had a great long weekend stay! It was perfect for our family of four. We had everything we needed. The house is comfortable, clean and has great finishes. The beach is only a short walk from the house. Traci was fantastic and available for anything we needed. Can't wait to go back!
