Peaceful Historic Cabin, Estes Park CO
About this cabin rental
VHR#3067 Enjoy being 5 minutes drive/ 15 minutes walk to downtown Estes Park shopping and restaurants without all the noise, traffic, and parking problems. It is 1255 square feet and is bordered on the north by a forest that was recently part of Rocky Mountain National Park, and was deeded to the Historic MacGregor Ranch conservation easement in a land exchange that enabled the Park to add hiking trails. These trails are 1 mile north of the cabin on MacGregor Ave/ Devil's Gulch. The Gem Lake trail is just one of these beautiful trails. The MacGregor herd of elk live near the Ranch which is 1/2 mile north of the cabin. The Fall River and Beaver Meadows entrances to RMNP are approximately 2 miles from the cabin. ***Brand new ESTES VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER with indoor running track, weight and cardio room, lap pool, kids leisure pool with waterslide and lazy river, and drop-in child care wile using facility. 7 minutes or 2.2 miles away Since Rocky Mountain National Park built the cabin as a one room cabin, the cabin has quite a large living room with a fireplace. From the backyard sandstone patio, you have a magnificent view of Rock mountain National Park's Lumpy Ridge and Twin Owls; Said to have the best granite rock climbing in the state (Rocky Mountain News, Jan 20, 2009). People have seen elk, deer, abert squirrels, hummingbirds, wild turkey, numerous varieties of birds, chip monks, foxes, coyotes, a bobcat, pine martens, and other wildlife very close by, sometimes 2 feet from the kitchen table when the lights are off in the kitchen during the day. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee on the sandstone patio while looking at the views of RMNPs Lumpy Ridge and Twin Owls. Cook after hiking on the gas grill and watch the sunset on Lumpy Ridge. At night sit on the front deck while looking at the stars. Although close to downtown, the cabin is in a secluded, quiet setting at the end of a street. Since you can walk or drive less than a mile (9/10 of a mile) into town, you will have both easy access to Estes Park's downtown shopping and restaurants and the enjoyment of nature's tranquility and beauty. You also have quick and easy access to Safeway (the town's large grocery store), fast food, and the visitors center (5 minutes away). I have various games and kids movies under the TV; a variety of books next to the stereo. There are condiments in the frig, plastic bags, spices, plus various other cooking supplies in the kitchen. Each bathroom has bath soap, shampoo, 2 rolls of toilet paper, and of course clean towels. Also it has a washer and dryer; and wireless internet. The driveway can fit 2 cars which is next to Bear Proof Trash can in front of the cabin. HIGH FIRE DANGER AT ALL TIMES! *PRIVATE GAS Grill by sand stone patio with table and chairs for eating/wildlife watching *South Deck has tables and chairs for eating / star gazin *Fireplace /Wood Burning stove(wood available at Safeway and Ace Hardware) *Pack n Play in closet (bring your own sheets) PLEASE NO PETS/SERVICE ANIMALS/ NO SMOKING -- I have severe allergies. We have stayed here before the location is great. This is everything advertised.

We had a fabulous time in RMNP and this home was a great landing spot in between hikes. Everything was well stocked and comfortable. We had a minor glitch with the wifi during a storm, but the property managers addressed it very quickly. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening stars and snuggled on the couch and read books when we weren't out hiking. Very cozy and easy to get to downtown or the enter RMNP from this location.

Our cabin was very roomy and we enjoyed that we had both a deck and a patio. The cabin was so well equipped and easily accessible. We saw mule deer come through our neighborhood. We truly enjoyed our st as y and would recommend this to anyone who wishes to visit Estes Park. We had a great time. Karine was very cordial and helpful

We've stayed at Sherry's Peaceful, Historic Cabin for several years. It is THE BEST place to stay in Estes Park. Great for two-three adults, couples w/o kids, or a small family. Close to downtown and Safeway. Four miles away from either park entrance. Roomy, quiet, and clean. We can't wait to make reservations for 2023!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin, as it was exactly as described. The cabin was very well stocked with spices, pans, utensils, and bathroom necessities. We arrived late at night and were elated to find coffee in the freezer for our first morning. The grocery store is only a couple of miles away and we really enjoyed being able to easily stop in and get supplies when needed. The bedrooms are close together, but the fans in each room serve as great sound machines to block out the other room and it was worth it for two full baths. We had different types of deer most nights and mornings in the yard and enjoyed being so close to Estes Park. We would stay in the cabin again when we come back to visit. Thank you to our host for such a memorable and stress-free experience!

Perfect getaway spot for a family looking for relaxation and time in town and the park. Easy check in and out. Fully stocked cabin-plenty of cookware, condiments and spices, blankets, pillows, a few extra jackets to borrow if need be, sleds for the snow, a pack and play (which we didn't need, but I appreciated it being there), games and DVDs.
If you are looking for some veg time, don't forget a fire stick. The cable is very basic and the DVD collection will get you by, but getting to catch up on what you've been wanting to see may be worth the extra effort. Sherry mentions the option to bring one, but we forgot. Also, if you have kids that wake up too early, have a morning plan. We didn't and the remotes were a little confusing to them, so we had some earlier than we would have liked mornings. That's more of a parenting tip than a review of this particular cabin!
Would recommend and stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was quiet, clean and comfortable and easy to get back and forth to town or to RMNP. The kitchen was well-stocked with anything you'd need. The bedrooms are very small, and one of the bathrooms had a very small shower and nowhere to set shampoo/soap (this would be an easy fix). The living area is really spacious, and we enjoyed the fireplace. There's a futon in the living room, and you could easily put a queen air mattress in that room if you needed it. The only frustration we had was the list of chores you needed to do before you left. They seemed a little extensive compared to other Vrbo places we've stayed. But, it wouldn't keep me from recommending the property.

We had a great time at the cabin! The property is spacious and clean. Check in was easy--we arrived quite late at night and finding the property was very easy. A few simple requirements when checking out, so make time for that (all reasonable!). A WONDERFUL stay--we would certainly stay here again if we return to Estes Park. Note: Parking was also very easy and the driveway was easily accessible.

Great location with quick access to downtown Estes Park (shopping and dining) and to RMNP entrances (Fall River and Beaver Meadow).
Comfortable vacation cabin feel with large great room to relax. Nice to have two full baths. Great hot water. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook and prepare meals. Cabin stayed comfortable without air conditioning even in August. WiFi was very spotty and weak throughout the cabin but had enough to make reservations or look up directions. Owners had a very helpful book of info and favorites available. We loved hiking everyday and coming back to comfy home. Estes had a fun downtown area to explore with plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. The river walk behind the main strip is a highlight. We saw elk and deer every day. We’d recommend this rental and would return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at this cabin! The cabin is spacious, inviting and in a perfect location for visiting Rocky Mountain National Park as well as Estes Park. Sherry was very helpful in providing information about the Park and the area ahead of time and also has put together a great binder with more specific local information. Would absolutely stay here again!

Our family of five had plenty of room and were very comfortable here. We loved the well equipped kitchen, the grill, and the outside area. My kids loved the games and books when we were stuck inside on a rainy day. This is a quiet location away from the busyness of Estes Park but still close to the fun. Sherry was a great host with wonderful tips and recommendations.

We came from Arizona and met friends from Colorado. We also had friends drive out their RV from Illinois and stay in a nearby campground. We enjoyed having together time grilling, eating and talking.

The main factor for us in selecting this property is the location: its proximity to downtown Estes Park and of course the National Park, and also being on the border of wilderness. The house had a patio in the back and deck in front, both of which we used for our morning coffee and in the evening to relax after a day of hiking and sightseeing in the park. The house was accurately described in the VRBO posting. Sherry was very helpful in the weeks before our arrival with tips regarding the park and other activities that might interest us. We definitely recommend this house.

Cozy, comfortable, clean!
second bedroom a bit small, well stocked kitchen, TV instructions need to be updated. elk and deer wandered through the yard, which we loved, also-blooming cactus in rock garden were lovely! May benefit from power strips in bedrooms.

My wife and I had a really great time, it's a nice home and very quiet neighborhood. Great deck to have coffee and watch birds in the morning and star gaze at night. Friends came for the day and we took the Gem Lake Trail, lots of beautiful views there and saw elk out by the Macgregor's ranch area. The only blemish was the ice build up we had to deal with at the front and back doors. We had to break it up over several days with a big tree branch and eventually got it done.

Very nice cabin in a great location between downtown Estes Park and the Twin Owls. Quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed sitting by the cast iron fireplace at night. Hosts were good at communicating and very welcoming. Thank you!

I nice clean home in an excellent location. I am glad I asked ahead about the TV and access to Netflix, Prime, etc. It is necessary to bring your own Fire-stick or ROCU. And, I wish I had remembered my own pillow. The bed pillows could due with replacement and stronger watt light bulbs in the living room. Overall, it’s a nice place - a little dated and some chores the owner asks the guests to complete prior to leaving.

The house is located, literally, next to open space. When we arrived there was a large group of Elk grazing nearby. On Christmas morning there was a flock of wild turkeys eating pine seeds. The neighborhood is very quiet but friendly. Location is great. Everything is an easy drive away: downtown Estes Park, Groceries, great hiking trails, and of course Rocky Mountain National Park. We went hiking twice during our stay. My son found great rock climbing at Lumpy Ridge. The place itself is very spacious. There's a large common area with a gorgeous fireplace and lots of comfortable seating. We spent most of our time in that room watching TV, playing games, reading, and just hanging out.The two bedrooms are comfortable. An attached bathroom with a shower is a nice plus in the master bedroom. There's also a small office nook where I set up my computer that's very convenient. The Wifi connection was wonderfully strong and reliable. The kitchen is well-equipped with new appliances and there's a sunny nook where we ate our meals. My family isn't into cooking but there were plenty go tools and equipment for anyone who wants to do some "real" cooking or baking.I'd like to stay here again during the warmer months. There's a very nice outdoor patio where I would have loved to relax with a book and a cold drink. Our group was small. Just myself, my husband, and adult son. This house would be great for a larger family with kids. Perfect "base of operations" for lots of fun in the Estes Park area.Highly recommended!
