Situated in St Marys, this lovely house for $210 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. BEAUTIFUL MARSH AND RIVER VIEWS, GLORIOUS SUNRISES OVER THE MARSH AND RIVER :A MUST SEE! TRANQUIL, BIRD WATCHING, HEAR THE CHURCH BELLS! This fantastic 1200 SF Apartment is part of the “Historic Collier-Casey Estate”, circa 1874, and is situated on the premier vacation rental site in downtown Saint Marys! This 'Captains Quarters' Apartment is one of two rentals on the 'Collier-Casey Estate' property with its own private entrance and upstairs deck that overlooks an Eastern view of the Marsh, Saint Marys River, Intra-Coastal Waterway, Pass to the Atlantic Ocean and distant Cumberland and Fernandina/Amelia Islands. The “Captains Quarters”, with it’s upstairs deck offers “the best views” on the property, and is a spacious 1200 SF apartment with 14 ft. Vaulted Ceiling Great Room, with living, kitchen, and breakfast areas; over-sized queen bedroom with walk-in closet; and large bath with Jacuzzi garden tub, walk-in shower, two large double vanities, and private water closet. It is a perfect location for a couple and offers plenty of room for a week or longer stay! The tropical setting of the fully landscaped 2+ acre property, with its palm trees, moss-draped oaks, and southern pecan trees, is situated directly on the Marsh to the East, with un-obscured views of Cumberland Island, 'the pass' to the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and Fernandina Beach, FL.; and un-obscured River views to the south (front) of the property! No other rental property in Saint Marys offers these beautiful water views. This property is a 5 minute or less walk to the town center (only one “small town block” to the Saint Marys River waterfront and village shops and restaurants)! As stated in Southern Living Magazine article featuring Saint Marys in 2006, “There’s something about Saint Marys”! If you haven’t experienced Saint Marys you are missing a rare gem!

My husband & I cannot say enough about the City of St. Marys and our wonderful stay at the Captains Quarters! Don welcomed us with his friendly, kind demeanor. He gave us a tour of the apartment and offered us lots of very interesting information. He also brought us into his incredible home which is the main house. The Captains Quarters was immaculate and decorated beautifully! It offered everything we needed and more. The marsh view with its incredible sunrises was the perfect beginning to each day. The landscaping on the property is so beautiful. There is such a variety/abundance of birds that fly over the marsh. I saw my favorite birds, the roseate spoonbills, daily. We brought our kayaks & bikes and loved exploring the river and City of St. Marys. Our day trip by ferry to Cumberland Island was fascinating! Our late afternoon walks to the town center was so peaceful and enjoyable. Thank you Don for your kind hospitality. We appreciate everything and look forward to returning next year! Denise & Larry

My wife and I stayed here while visiting our daughter at Kings Bay naval base. It was a wonderful place. Very clean, great view, well decorated, great location. My wife is very sensitive to smells and this placed had none. Location is easy walking distance to waterfront old town St Marys with restraints, bars, and stores. Great small town atmosphere with short drive to major stores. Host was friendly and always available. Thank you, Don, for a wonderful place.

If you are in St. Marys for a few days and want to enjoy the marsh and river views, this place is a very wise choice.
Don & Melody are very friendly host. Captain’s Quarters is located on the 2nd floor of the garage of the owner. Yes, you live next door to them, but this is not a big deal in terms of privacy.
The apartment is bright, comfortable, and the bathroom is surprisingly modern for a circa house of 1874.
- the carpet is not the best choice of flooring when dogs are allowed…

My husband and I spent a lovely month at this VRBO. Don the owner is a great host, always available if need be. Though we had no issues to report. The apartment is beautiful, perfect for the two of us. It provided all the amenities, DISH tv and comfortable furniture and bedding. It is only 2 blocks from historic St Marys which added to the attraction of this property.

This property is a gem with every amenity. It is located on a historic property in a stunning location with a beautiful view over the nearby marshes from the front porch. We walked our dog multiple times a day through the historic neighborhood. Our hosts were lovely and very helpful too.

What a wonderful week at the Captain’s Quarters, with a view of the marsh in Saint Mary’s. Everything about this place was lovely and comfortable, from the bed to the jacuzzi tub to the Adirondack chairs on the balcony. Communication was fast and easy - and Don was so great. A definite gem!

The Captain's Quarters was perfect for a couple and our 2 puppies. Adirondack chairs from a second story porch lend to beautiful views of the marsh and Cumberland Island. The host is very hospitable and accommodating. We plan to go back!

Our host Don Pierce greeted us upon arrival and brought us to our home away from home, he gave us an overview of the property, offered his help in any way and then left us to settle into this beautiful apartment.
Everything was exactly as it was described, the marsh and river views were perfect, the location was peaceful and the sunrises were beautiful. We spent as much time as possible on the porch overlooking the property and enjoying the comforting sea breeze.
On the day we left our host asked if there was anything he could improve upon, I couldn't think of anything!

We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. Great view across wetlands and harbor toward Amelia Island. We loved sitting on the balcony in the evening. Apartment is well decorated with beautiful antiques. “Downtown” St. Mary’s is a short walk—we enjoyed the restaurants! Don and Melody are accommodating hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home!

My husband and I recently took a trip to Saint Marys and stayed in the Captain's Quarters. We loved Saint Marys, but the accommodations and hospitality of Don and Melody took our trip to the next level!
Don met us when we arrived and gave us a brief tour of the Captain's Quarters. We were impressed with how clean and spacious it was with high ceilings, open floor plan, large master bedroom with it huge walk in closet, and spacious bathroom with a jetted tub and double vanities. It is nicely decorated in an eclectic, antique style that gives it plenty of personality without feeling cluttered.
Don and Melody were amazing hosts. They had supplied a basket of snacks and goodies, including two muffins from a local bakery. They were friendly and responsive, making sure we were enjoying our stay any time they saw us without being intrusive.
The property was conveniently located to downtown, easy walking distance, and they had two bicycles on the property that we could use. It was beautifully landscaped, with a nice little outdoor area. Our apartment had a porch that overlooked the marsh where we could sit and enjoy a spectacular view of the sunrise.
I can't recommend this location enough! I commented to my husband on multiple occasions that it was so quiet and calming being there. We were originally thinking about going to Amelia Island, but with Amelia Island being an easy drive away, I am so glad that we ended up in the quaint little town of Saint Marys, and especially happy that we found the Captain's Quarters!

Beautiful & relaxing yet walking distance to restaurants. Hosts so kind with surprise muffins one morning and dog gate fir the porch safety.
We spent hours enjoying the spectacular view from our porch. Everything we could possibly need indoors too. Loved the high ceilings on a rainy quiet day. The luxurious bed made for such restful stay. Can’t say enough how kind the hosts were. The best retreat in all of St Marys if privacy, beauty and luxury are your priorities.

Although I had to cut my stay short due to personal reasons, my time at The Captian's Quarters was lovely. The property is absolutely beautiful and the accommodations were impeccable. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.
