We looked for a peaceful retreat, we got it! Very quiet, surrounded by the mountains, wildlife (as turkeys, squirrels), a horse barn in the back and the hosts’ friendly dog! We met Bob, very friendly, full of information about the area, we enjoyed our chats! Whenever we come to Vermont, we will stay here again!

We arrived at this charming cottage at dusk to be met with twinkling lights lining the porch and walkway. We felt at home immediately in this cozy cottage. It was clean and had everything we needed to make this sisters week perfect! We enjoyed sitting on the deck drinking our morning coffee watching the sun rise. The horses were an added bonus...just watching them graze and feeding them peanuts was a treat for us. The hosts Dawn &Sam were wonderful! We cant say enough nice things about them!! We hope to make a return trip in the future to this peaceful cottage!!!

Perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet country spot just minutes to Chester. Our little dog loved running and sniffy around the surrounding grounds, too. Owners had complete and clear instructions for everything and obviously care about guests’ comfort.

This is my second stay here! The property is wonderful, Dawn has been great getting back with any questions I had! This trip was nothing short of amazing and can’t wait to return for a third trip!

Wonderful stay with beautiful views. I would call this a rustic cabin . It had everything we needed, does need a little TLC, furniture very outdated but that is the charm of it . I would recommend replacing torn lamp shades, and maybe more of a woman’s touch. That being said ,if your looking for a extremely peaceful getaway this is it ! We would definitely stay again !

We arrived to 18 inches of snow on the ground & it was very beautiful. A bit difficult to make it to the house from the truck as a walkway was not cleared. We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at the cottage with a beautiful view. Loved the fireplace! Chester is a relaxing town.

My son and I wanted to get away for a few days, and this little mountain cabin was perfect! Very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the mountains from the back porch. Located away up the mountain, but close enough to several little Vermont towns with food and antique shops to explore. Although it is definitely the "off season" we enjoyed relaxing in the cabin and checking out the quiet little town of Chester and nearby Putney. The road is unpaved, but seemed very well maintained, I was happy to have 4 wheel drive on the last day when it rained heavily. We will most definitely be back!

Clean, easy place to stay. Clear instructions on check out and great communication. Accidentally left with part of lockbox and Dawn was super kind about it. So appreciate having been able to stay. We were there to ski Okemo, was good time! Many thx!

Great place and great hosts. We had everything we needed for our ‘friends and family ski weekend’. Loved the hot tub and the fireplace. Perfect location too- just a short drive to Sunday River and all areas restaurants and shops. We also booked the private chef for a group dinner one night which was such a nice experience. The chef uses locally sourced ingredients and our meal was incredible. Would definitely stay again!!

This cottage is very cozy and in a beautiful setting. It met our needs perfectly. We enjoyed the spacious back yard where our dog could play, and convenience to Magic Mountain.

The cottage was a great stay for our ski trip to Vermont. The cottage is very welcoming and had everything we needed. it was comfortable throughout and we enjoyed the wood fire stove each evening after skiing. Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was supplied with plenty of towels and some toiletries and the kitchen had a good supply of pots, pans, dishes and plenty of basics for cooking and making coffee. We were only 25 mins from Okemo and 50 mins from Mount Snow so great for our ski plans. Communication and information from the host was great and we will definitely look to stay here again on our future trips.

My partner, my chiweenie and I were very pleased with our stay at this comfortable, cozy cabin! If you're looking to get away, this is it. At the same time, restaurants and several ski areas are just a short drive away. Highly recommend and we hope to stay here again!

As we pulled up, twinkling lights adorning the walkway, deck and windows greeted us. Inside was quaint, charming and cozy. It had everything we needed, and the setting in the mountains was beautiful. We loved this home and had a great stay!

If you want a peaceful vacation,this is the place you want to rent.There is plenty of hiking in the area,and plenty of shopping,not far from the cottage. The foliage is beautiful this time of year in Vermont. The owners are so nice,and their dog,Bailey, will come and visit you on the deck.The horses are friendly,and my husband had fun feeding them peanuts.We liked the woodstove and the chiminea. They were easy to light,and there was plenty of wood,on the deck for them.Thankyou,Dawn and Bob for your hospitality!We definitely enjoyed our stay! Sue and Dave L.

I was torn about how to write this review. The property is beautiful, exactly as advertised. Dawn and Sam were super nice and very responsive. But the smell in the bathroom was hard to deal with. Dawn and Sam were in constant communication with us about it and were making efforts to deal with it. I am confident they will find the source and fix it which is why I rated the property a 5 because that’s the experience it will be once it’s fixed.

Everything was exactly as described and it was a perfect week. Hosts are amazing, friendly and available when needed. Cottage was cosy and very peaceful. View is amazing. Thank you and we hope to come back soon.

I understand why this place has such good reviews, but unfortunately we did not have the same experience as the other reviewers. The place is just as described and has a wonderful view, but during our visit, there was a rotting smell coming from the bathroom that permeated throughout the first floor. While the place looked clean, it did not feel clean because of the awful smell. Showering, eating, and generally living in the stench was not a good experience. We escaped outside as much as possible, but unfortunately for us it was raining for most of our trip. The hosts were aware of the smell prior to our arrival and the right thing to do would have been to offer us a refund and a chance to find other accommodations or at the very least offer a discounted stay. The hosts came over to clean under the bathroom sink and check the vent from the roof when I complained, but clearly there is a dead animal rotting somewhere that they did not address. I doubt this review will be read by anyone that has already booked this place, but on the off chance that it is, I would contact the hosts and ask IF and HOW the issue has been resolved prior to your stay. We made the most of our trip, but if money were not an issue, we would have been out of there and at a motel.

Nice vacation get away. Lovely views, wonderful host, cute house! We had a lovely time despite some rain. Nice, off the grid location with well stocked kitchen. Pet friendly and charming.

We returned to Bob and Dawn's guest house after staying there four years previously. Our dog Lilly remembered the "feed the horses" morning ritual, which was a joy to behold. Thank you for making this beautiful little house available. We will return again.

This cabin will let you escape it all…and there’s horses! The cabin is small, but well furnished and cozy. The deck is amazing, with the outdoor fire place and the beautiful view of the meadow and the mountains beyond. The hosts live next door are are super friendly and responsive if you have any issues. Make sure you go feed the horses!

Very nice cottage in a great location. Had 3 days of just relaxing and everything we needed was there. Hosts were great communicators and near by if we had needed anything - but we didn't. Clean, quiet, everything we were looking for. Thanks for sharing it!

We had an amazing time just relaxing on the property and exploring some local towns & hikes. The cottage was so charming, we loved sitting by the indoor fire and outdoor chiminea. It was a most peaceful getaway and I must say I got the best night’s sleep while there.

Myself, my husband, our 2 children (ages 2 and 4) and our 2 dogs had a great long weekend at the cottage. The view was spectacular and large yard were exactly what we were looking for. Our kids loved the house and the horses across the street. Chester is a cute downtown to fulfill any of your needs. We had a great time and will definitely be back! Thank you Dawn and Sam for a wonderful time.

This is a quaint little rustic cabin. All the basic amenities are provided, including plenty of bedding, dishes and fire logs. Consider this glamping with perks! The property was very accommodating for our two dogs and the views were beautiful. I would suggest that the only real improvement that is needed is to have the septic tank serviced once the snow is gone as there was an odor in the bathroom that could be a little overwhelming. I thank the owners of the property for our first Vermont experience to have been so memorable.

Our family had such a wonderful time staying at this property. The house is quaint but has everything you need, and the property is breathtaking. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We are return customers. As delightful as last stay in 2017. Cottage clean , all amenities you need. Delightful and cozy. Loved the rural. Only concern I have for future visitors, if there is any chance you maybe visiting during time of thaw, bring a SUV w all wheel drive. It was a nail biter going thru the deep mud ruts. Had to find a car wash to hose wheels free from the mud so we could travel greater than 45mph. Otherwise don’t pass the chance to stay here

This is our second year renting this place now, and we have fallen in love! We will be back year after year Honestly, my wife and I would consider purchasing the property if the opportunity ever arose
