Chez mu is as advertised. Lots of room, quiet, clean, safe and friendly. Very well equipped. The view from the back beck of the ocean is great. You can see for miles. The pool is great for cooling down and steps from the expansive sliding doors looking over the ocean. There is a restaurant on the property if you need. It’s very close to the trail down to a beautiful three tiered water falls. Great for swimming. If you are staying in montezuma I highly recommend chez mu. It is a bit difficult to find. It’s a house on a small resort. You enter at the yoga studio entrance.

The Villa was perfect for us. The property was fantastic. The staff was excellent especially Jo. It’s in the top of a hill so rent ATVs it’s easy to drive around with them. It’s about a 7 min ATV drive down the hill to the town/beach.

Spectacular place with everything you need to cook / relax / enjoy! Mike was very communicative and helpful! Huge place for all your close friends. Would stay again no hesitation!

The house is perfectly equipped with all amenities needed to spend a pleasant time. The privacy is incredible. The location is perfect to move to other beaches in the area.

I don't want to give a very long review so here it goes, if you think the pictures are good, its waaaay better than the pictures, amenities are simply out of this world, I believe all of us were constantly talking about how no detail was spared and everything was of the greatest quality!!! Hosts are simply out of this world, they text you daily to see if there is anything they can help you with. And to simply put it, Villa Chez Mu is the exception to the phrase its too good to be true. Because it is in fact even better than what it should be for both the price and service. Book immediately and look no further. We will definitely be back!!!

My family and I stayed in Chez Mu for 4 nights, and we all enjoyed it a lot. This house has amazing spaces for a big family, confy rooms, clean bathrooms, nice social spaces, a lovely pool and an amazing view of the ocean. Adrian and Jennifer were really helpful with us. I can't wait for my next stay in Chez Mu!

This home was absolutely perfect! Tyler and Jennifer were the best hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed at all times and made so great recommendations for day trips/ hikes to waterfalls/ chefs for dinners. We really were able to relax with our children and family the whole time. Chez Mu really is amazing!

Our stay was like a dream! The house was beautiful, luxurious, and clean! It had everything we needed and the few things we did find ourself in need of, Tyler, the property manager, handled quickly and thoroughly! He was extremely helpful and knowlegeable about the house and everything in the area!! This was a perfect place for our family of five to spend time together for 7 days! Would definitely come back again and stay!

We have stayed in a lot of Vacation Rentals, but this is by far the most impressive. The photos don't do it justice. The villa is spread over 3 floors and each floor has a beautiful outdoor veranda for viewing the surrounding jungle and ocean. We saw a great variety of birds, iguanas and a howler monkey even made a visit to the property while we were there. The host and property manager were extremely responsive and helpful; suggesting the best places to go in the area and the best route to get there. Access to the Montezuma water falls is a short walk away as well as a really good bakery and one of our favorite restaurants in the area, Clandestina. We will definitely be back to this beautiful spot on the planet!

The worst thing about Chez Mu for us was that it was only available for two nights. We decided to stay there anyway and were really glad that we did because our stay there turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip - and it was a great trip!. This is a really cool and beautiful property. We are a family of four and it was wonderful for us, but could also easily handle many more people in the 5 bedrooms. The views from the upper suite and the deck were amazing. We loved how all the doors fully open so the whole place feels like it's outdoors when you open them. The place is very well equipped and both Mike and Kris were friendly and helpful, making sure we were comfortable and made great suggestions for food and activities. I'd recommend a 4WD for Montezuma in general, not just chez mu. If you're considering going to Montezuma, I would definitely recommend Chez Mu. If you stay there, the bakery just below the bottom of the driveway is great for breakfast and delicious sweets. Also, the SunTours canopy tour ziplining, right down the road was amazing.

Waking up to jungle sounds, breathtaking vistas, taking dips in the infinity pool and feeling one with nature and at the same time having a luxurious place to call home. That is Chez MU. All the raving reviews did not prepare me for this experience. Although my family did all the activities that Montezuma had to offer and loved them, we could have easily just stayed at Chez Mu without ever leaving. And the people couldn't have been nicer! Mike was always available to help with any questions or concerns. My daughter-in-law had a rash, and the caretaker took care of her as if she was family. Kris, the property manager, was also great. The house is on a steep hill and remote, so we were remiss in not renting a vehicle, But, Kris came to our rescue and gave us a contact number to call whenever we needed a taxi -which was mainly for restaurants. Other than that, Zuma tours gave us door to door service for all of their tours. The people in Montezuma seem to be one, large, loving family and go all out for tourists. 5 stars is not enough for this lifetime experience in our luxurious jungle home.

Look no further if you are going to Montezuma. Incredible view of the Pacific from the deck, beautiful pool, outdoor dining, and great support from the house manager Rachel and Zenon and his wife who live down the hill on the property. Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Our kids felt like they had their own little condo. Down the hill at the entrance to the property is the most amazing bakery (blue house next to driveway entrance). We walked to the zip line tour. We couldn’t wait to get back to the house at the end of the day. We saw 7 howler monkeys behind the house, two iguanas came to visit in the morning, and lots of green parrots. Paradise in the jungle. If I really had to nit pick, a few Tupperware’s for food storage in the kitchen would be great, and WiFi upstairs was a little iffy, and no tv cable upstairs but with such a beautiful place I was fine that the kids had to put down the electronics or come downstairs and hang with their parents to watch tv. Netflix was available upstairs and we didn’t fly all the way to montezuma to watch tv. The pictures don’t do this villa justice. Truly a beautiful place! Highly recommend.

This is probably our 9th. or 10th rental through VRBO/HomeAway and I can honestly say Chez Mu ranks at the top of our list. The house is extremely well appointed and works great for a group as small as a couple (which we were) or up to as many as two small families I would say. I would recommend the house and the location to anyone who is looking for a perfect mix of relaxation and as many activities as you could want at your disposal. We spent a day just hanging out by the pool, enjoying the view, relaxing and grilling out at night. Every morning you can have coffee and breakfast on the patio while watching butterflies flutter in and out of the adjacent flowers. Montezuma is a short (5 minute) drive where you can find all sorts of restaurants and shops, just don't plan to walk into town as the hill in between the house and Montezuma is quite long and steep, but very easy navigated by vehicle. For activities you can go exploring the countless number of beaches in the area, snorkeling, hiking, nature watching, surfing, zip lining, etc. The house has an informational guide written by the previous owners describing in detail, the local beaches, towns and activities. It is the most thorough I have seen at any rental property. There is also a roof deck where you can watch beautiful sunsets while listening to the sounds of the surrounding jungle come to life. Zenon, the caretaker, brought to our attention one early evening an entire family of Howler Monkeys having dinner in one of the trees right on the property, it was amazing to witness and one of the best encounters we had with wildlife even including the reserves we went to. Kristine, the property manager was extremely communicative and always available to answer questions by text or phone. She welcomed us to the house and introduced us to the care takers who live just down the hill on the property. They were also extremely attentive and take excellent care of the property, which was pristine. At the same time they are very respectful of your privacy. Overall, a fantastic experience from beginning to end and if you are even considering the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula, this is the place to stay!

Hi Mike, thank you for the care you have taken with us. It was very much appreciated. All the places we went were listed in the wonderful Chez Mu Guide you provided, which I always double checked before going anywhere. It may have seemed like we were always on the go, but in fact we spent the most of our time in your beautiful home relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. It is a real jewel! We didn’t need to go to the butterfly farm or the wildlife reserves because we saw everything those places tout while in the pool or on the deck of Chez Mu. As I told Rachel, we would like to get our grown children to come visit with us some time soon and will think of Chez Mu as a landing place for us! We also liked eating several times at Jorge Izcue’s Burger & Beer place down the hill near the river and made friends with him during our stay. It felt the most like a hotel/resto you’d find in Spain. Again thanks to you, caretakers Marie Luise, Xenon & property manager, Rachel for all your help in making this a rejuvenating visit. Great correspondence very helpful! We enjoyed our stay a lot. The pool is amazing and a nice view. Maria Louisa and her husband are the caretakers and live close to the property are very helpful . We purchased food and she cooked it for us it was very good. The place is within walking distance from zip lining and and canopy walk to the waterfalls. We did both and really enjoyed it. I would recommend staying here it was a great experience.

I would have thought Chez Mu is a place that only exists in dreams if I hadn't seen it for myself. It truly is a great option for those who want to getaway and disconnect from the real world for a bit to enjoy the great outdoors. The house is secluded but the surrounding jungle encompasses you and makes you feel a part of the beautiful nature around you. The pool deck boasts great ocean views and the sparking infinity pool will make it very hard to leave. It was so nice to lounge in the pool and look out at the ocean while listening to the relaxing sounds of the birds flying around. I'm telling you - it's like a dream! The inside of the house was terrific, as well. Very clean. Roomy enough to accommodate a large group of people, if needed, very comfortable and updated with modern amenities. The beds are beyond comfortable and I was delighted to find the shower pressure was great! Mike and Jenny were great hosts. Very prompt and responsive to any questions I had. They even provide a PDF pamphlet of everything you would want or need to know about Chez Mu and Costa Rica! The house keeper was also very helpful and attentive to all of my needs. If you are a solo traveler or a large party looking for a place to stay in the area, look no further than Chez Mu! It is everything you need it to be and more. I would definitely stay here again!

This was a very comfortable stay with a fantastic outdoor area. The doors into the house can be opened up in the day to help move air through the house. I could mention some little things about the house in terms of things being a bit dated or needing some TLC but the fact of the matter is were not paying the price to rent a brand new mansion/house, so I think that it was extremely nice based on the price and was overall a great value and stay. It is really close to town but still has lots of privacy. Zennon the caretaker is very helpful and lives right below the house in his own place. I thought that Eric did a great job preparing for us and they have a spectacular house manual with all sorts of great info in it. Restaurants in Montezuma are far beyond what you would expect. Our favorite was the Italian place uphill from where we were (tierra y fuego) and the French place on the water (playa de lost artistas). Both were fantastic. I would also recommend the butterfly brewery/hotel just a short walk downhill from Chez Mu. Really nice people and good food/drinks. (Awesome mole sauce).

Lovely house in the most beautiful surroundings. Montezuma is a gem along the Costa Rican pacific coast. We, a family of four, two kids 10,14 thoroughly enjoyed the deck and the pool area where the parrots, howler monkeys and other wildlife kept us company. Chez Mu is a beautiful home in a rugged, beautiful area. It is close to Montezuma but off the path enough to enjoy beautiful views, sounds of the jungle and enjoy the wildlife. The kitchen is well stocked with nice appliances and dishes. The bedrooms are air conditioned and the furnishings are basic, clean and comfortable. The house is well stocked with coolers and beach mats for a day at the beach. The deck area is amazing. It is better than the pictures. We loved getting up in the morning, listening to the monkeys, seeing the ocean and viewing birds from the gorgeous infinity pool. The pool is small but our family loved relaxing in the pool soaking in the view. The owners are responsive by email and the caretakers keep the property clean and are sweet and helpful. We cannot wait to come back!

Our hope during our visit to Costa Rica was to spend a family vacation during which we'd be able to rest and relax in a comfortable home. Chez Mu offered exactly what we were looking for: a beautiful home, an exquisite pool, and an irreplaceable ocean view. The house is away from it all while remaining close to the beach and the village nearby. I only wished we could have stayed longer...so I guess we will have to return.

We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and wanted something special for the occasion. We were looking for something relaxing but adventurous at the same time....and it was all of that and more. The house was everything the description and photos portrayed. Loved hearing the sounds of the jungle but being able to see the ocean in the distance. Quiet and secluded but so close to anything we needed. From the minute we emailed to check availability the owner was very helpful and accommodating. It was our easiest experience with VBRO so far, especially with payment. The caretakers were wonderful and so patient with our rusty Spanish and very accommodating with our schedule. We loved using the house as home base and took day trips that were recommended in the incredible vacation guide provided by the owners. We rented a 4x4 vehicle in San Jose and loved the adventure of traveling around and exploring on our own. The wireless internet was great and we were able to watch our daughter's 1st collegiate Field Hockey game from the house. Costa Rica is a beautiful country and we had a wonderfully memorable week at this villa! We have recommended it over and over to our friends and family and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great vacation.

We are a young group of seven from different parts of the U.S. and we visited Montezuma at the beginning of April. Chez Mu made the trip across the bay well worth it. From the minute we made contact with Eric the process was extremely easy. He guided us right through the booking process, answered all questions we had promptly, and made the vacation great. Chez Mu is everything you see in the pictures. Great views from the awesome pool. Full kitchen set up. Short drive or 1/2 mile walk from town. Cleaning lady was very nice and mindful. The wild life was abundant, we even saw a couple monkeys in the trees above the house. We strongly recommend this house. We had the same concerns you do, we didn't want to be ripped off by the internet scammers. You never really know what you're getting until you get there. But this place is the real deal. And making the payments was straight forward with no hassles or issues. It slept seven of us comfortably, and it would've slept eight easily. Thanks for everything, Eric. This was an awesome vacation.

My wife and our 3 kids (6 years, 3 years and 1 years) stayed for a week and loved the villa and the whole Montezuma experience. The place was as advertised on the website and through e-mail conversations with the owner, except that the washer didn't work, but the cleaner who lives in the house below the Villa was happy to do a load of laundry when ever we asked and we tipped her a little something extra. The external doors didn't lock, but with the safes in each room for valuables we felt perfectly comfortable, especially that the gardener/cleaner couple lived in the house below the villa and were always around. A house book is provided by the owner which is loaded with lots of directions, local information and recommendations on restaurants - the information was very accurate and useful. We had a GPS map purchased through one of the links in the house book - and using the coordinates provided by the owner it was no issue finding the villa even after dark. We enjoyed the Montezuma waterfalls, Curu Wild life park, Cabo Blanco wild life park (look up Gerald at cabo blanco travelers.com his tour booth is downtown Montezuma, he was an awesome tour guide and great with the kids), horse back riding (again Gerald hooked us up with a private family horseback riding our) Tortouga Island and touring Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. We would use this villa again and definitely stay in Montezuma again - there are many excellent restaurants.

I just can't say enough about this wonderful place, the beauty,the peacefulness etc. My self my husband and our three adult children came and stay here it was the best part of our trip.
