Reception area and breakfast room lovely Good bathroom with powerful shower Comfy bed

Parking a nightmare Stairs and corridors needed a clean Breakfast room cold so breakfast was cold by the time you got to your table to eat Coffee was awful

You cannot leave the car in the car park for long as they would phone you at 7am to move it. Some cupboards doors were broken. Very noisy at night.

We always love our stay at cairn we are up every two weeks at the moment due to having some treatment at freemans hospital. We find the beds so comfortable, staff lovely and rooms nicely done out.

This stay we found our room not to the same standard. The TV wasn’t tuned to over 1/2 of the channels, no towel rail in the bathroom. Just a little in need of deep clean on upholstery and curtains.

Water leaking in the room, complicated room locations, unsupportive staff.

Paid for the Cairn Hotel but got put across the road in the Carlton. Room was unbearably hot on the top floor, tiny fan to blow around hot air, no air con or draft coming through the window which was covered in bird mess and the smell of kitchen grease coming from the restaurants below when we opened it, pigeons flapping around all the time too even at 6am in the morning and trying to enter the window. All red stains over the duvet (Looked like blood). When asked to change room they said there were none available even though there were listings available on Booking.com and to just lay on top of the quilt if we were warm (We were anyways). Even the fridge wasn't cold. Definitely the worst sleep and hotel experience I've ever had. Never again.

Comfortable rooms, excellent customer service, with a bonus of free parking as well. A good place to stay for the Great North Run with just a 30 min walk to the start. Some rooms are in the building over the road above the pub. Although some reviews here complain of noise - it's stops at 11pm so doesn't really disrupt sleep.

Some hooks or a towel rail in the bathroom would have been nice!

The service from the staff was lovely, especially the female receptionist.

The confusion between reception and the restaurant and subsequently being challenged on whether I’d actually paid or not.

not advised about which hotel it was for and i hadn’t heard about the parking. so when i needed to leave for a family emergency she was a little annoyed but did sort it out

Reception Staff were really lovely and friendly

Very good. Spacious accommodation, and the restaurant was eyond expectations. Will stay there again.

Our second stay at the Cairn and no complaints. Friendly staff at reception on arrival and leaving, Our room was again nice and quiet and also cosy. We stayed Fri and Sat nights and no problems with noise, even with there being a home game on! . Definitely be back a third time!, 😊

Additional heater in the room was very welcome. Food in the hotel is very good. Staff are lovely. Very close to other restaurants. Very handy for the Hospital.

Room was noisy, every door slams shut! Parking is a nightmare!
