I had the privilege of staying at the Lazy S for over a month! I appreciate the owner’s willingness to let us stay for such a long visit.The location felt like we were in our very own secluded home. It was surrounded by a wooded area on all four corners of the house! We had miles of trails surrounding us, which we took advantage of! At the end of a short road, there was a small lake that had a trail around it, as well.The rental had every amenity anyone could ever need! The kitchen did not need a single item for cooking! The beds were extremely comfortable, and were perfect for the six of us. When any assistance was needed, the management company had employees that were very helpful. This is our second time renting Lazy S. We love this cabin. Excellent location to a trail head and close by the lake. We love the upgrades that were done. Kids really liked the bunk beds. Our dogs enjoyed the yard and the trail. Clean and well stocked with kitchen equipment. The driveway and road out front made excellent sled run.

My husband, dog and I spent 4 nights at the Lazy S and had a wonderful time. The weather was rainy when we arrived and then it snowed the day before we left. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and it was at the back side of Old Timberline so there was very little car traffic. I could walk our dog in any direction and have a great walk—we loved the fenced in yard. We closed off two bedrooms and their baths and there was more than enough space for us with the living area and master. We briefly used the screened in porch, had it been warmer we would have taken advantage of it. I’m so glad I chose Lazy S for our vacation.

My third stay at this property and have already reserved for next year. It's in a perfect location, secluded and private, yet close to some incredible outdoor adventures. The home is appointed very nicely, beds are very comfortable, truly a "home away from home". The fenced yard is a great bonus for those of us traveling with pets. I fell asleep numerous times, sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. So peaceful and quiet. Great for the soul. I would and have recommended this house to others. We were very happy with Lazy S. House is not huge but the layout with MBR and bath on one side and the other bedrooms/bathrooms on the opposite side was nice for our group. Furniture was comfortable. Water pressure in showers was great. Paper towels, dish soap, bar soap, etc. was all provided. Also dig crates and fishing gear that we did not use. Location at the back of Old Timberline was nice - secluded, right next to Wildlife Refuge trailhead and close to Sand Run Lake. Fenced yard was the best feature as we had a dog with us. We will most likely return!

We loved everything about this property! It offered a nice amount of privacy and was close to Canaan Valley and Blackwater's Falls State Parks..Seneca Rocks and Dolly Sods weren't too far away either. They thought of everything as far as supplies and utensils! We had the use of two dog crates and they even left out food and water for our puppy! The appliances were awesome! I loved the oven and toaster. The fenced in front yard and the run for the dog 🐕 was fantastic. The home was tastefully decorated and well thought out. The beds were comfortable and the couch had a recliner in each end. We had a TV go on the fritz and they replaced it within a couple of hours! Very responsive team! I would gladly stay here again. We had a very memorable stay at the Lazy S! My 10 year old said she'd be happy to bring her kids here in the future!

This is our third year staying at the Lazy S. This stay was just as great as the past. Always maculate, has everything we need, spacious, cozy, and peaceful. Love the new reclining couch, had one rainy day and definitely put the couch and TV to use! We’ll definitely be back.

We were disappointed that the previous renters did not follow the rules and clean up after their dogs. There are so few pet friendly places to rent that as a pet owner every renter needs to do their part to assure there are places for us to bring our pets to. We loved the fireplace and being able to relax in the evening after skiing. The hike around the nearby lake was refreshing and beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked to be able cook and eat in by the fire.

This was our 2nd stay at Lazy S and our 5th time renting thru Best of Canaan.Lazy S is perfect for us. It has everything we need. It's comfortable and clean and we liked the kitchen updates. The location is great - very quiet and with easy access to the refuge trails right up the road. It's also an easy drive to the top of the mountain with access to Dolly Sods. Wake up each morning and see the sunrise over the mountain in the distance through the trees off the back porch. Listen to the birds, crickets and gentle deer walking through the woods. I love the Canaan area and frequent rentals in the Timberline gated community area. It makes it very convenient for lake fun and private access to Dolly Sods wilderness. This house was very nice and convenient for lake access. It was private minus traffic coming down the street to the lake/houses back in the area. We loved staying at the lazy S. It was so nice to bring our two dogs on vacation with us, they absolutely loved the fenced in yard. Our 1.5 yr old also loved the cabin with the open floor plan, and running around the island. We truly enjoyed the privacy and security we felt while staying in this community. The local pizza spot Mamma Mia was delicious and we enjoyed two evenings of dinner take out from them. We would absolutely stay here again, and maybe bring some more family!

Our family of 4 (2 couples) and 2 dogs stayed for a week Sept-Oct 4th. We were very pleased with the condition of the property, cleanliness and location to Sand Run Lake. We were pleasantly surprised by the propane fire pit on the deck and extremely pleased with the comfort of the beds (both master and Queen). The back deck had a dog gate available for enclosing the space which was another wonderful surprise as the dogs were able to enjoy evenings on the deck with us without tie outs! The fenced yard was much appreciated as well and the cute dog sculpture is a welcome sight for dog lovers :). A short walk to the lake AND trails will make this a repeat stay for sure. Thanks to the owners for sharing their lovely home for a much needed vacation!
