The atmospheric, beautiful historic palace building and easy access to a lovely roof terrace. The fact that the building and furnishings had not been modernised. Lots of interesting corners and views, very appealing to the eye.
Information about what the hotel offered was scant and the bar and breakfast area were not well signposted.
Breakfast was very disappointing and staff on duty paid little or at times no attention to guests. In a hotel of this quality I would expect better service. Coffee and tea was only available via a vending machine at breakfast and after 11am the area was closed. The fresh fruits available were not replenished very often.
I cannot comment on the restaurant which is run separately, it looked very good but this is reflected in the prices.
In a hotel of this size with so much space and many picturesque corners I felt it was a pity that a cafe and bar is not available on site for guests throughout the day, especially as there are no tea or coffee making facilities in rooms, even if you book the suite.

A very historic building, good atmosphere, unusual room, all very quiet and relaxing.
Breakfast selection, but it was just out of season so didn't really affect anything.

We had a wonderful stay in this old palace, it really is a very beautiful and special place which breathes history. And all that for a very affordable price. Rooms very spacious, beds comfortable. Very much recommended for anyone who is looking for something out of the ordinary.
Only minus: unfortunately the wifi doesn't work in the rooms, only near the reception and the shared living room (salon).

Extraordinary helpful and most understanding staff since I had to unexpectedly change my plans. The buffet breakfast is adequate and the attached fine dining restaurant El ESPEJO rates highly. Surely a place I would always want to return to.

Beautiful historic building with original features (including lovely floor tiles) and lots of antiques. Huge, comfortable rooms with efficient air conditioning. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is ideal, as it's a couple of minutes walk from the busy, restaurant-filled town centre, and just around the corner from a neighbourhood plaza where the excellent tapas bars are frequented mostly by locals. Free parking, immediately outside the front door. Decent breakfast buffet. Good value.
Nothing to criticise. I guess a pool would be nice (it gets hot in Sanlucar), but it's a very old building and you can't have everything....

The location is great right in the centre of the casco antiguo of the town, we were lucky enough to get the room with a great private terrace overlooking the rooftops.
The room was quirky but beautifully decorated to suit the period of the building.
Overall great stay
Tea/coffee facilities in room would just add that final touch.

cleanliness
no Wi-Fi in rooms no fridge
4.0 / 5.0
Beautiful hotel, the building is restored and decorated in a tasteful way, making the most of the palace original structure. The patios are beautiful, updated but keeping the real Andaluz flavor. Crossing the main door is an oasis of peace and quiet, we slept very well.
The room was basic but very spacious, quiet and nicely decorated with vintage furniture and spotlessly clean.
Location is very good, many attractions to see nearby (bodegas, palaces, the market, etc) and just 5 min walk to the main city square.
The hotel restaurant El Espejo was really a highlight for us, we had an amazing dinner there (I heard about it from a friend, the hotel staff didn't even mention there is a restaurant on site).
All and all it is a nice place to stay, I recommend it and I would stay again.
The welcoming by the staff at main desk was a bit cold, we just got the room key but no information at all about facilities and services, such as the restaurant, breakfast options or information about Sanlucar (like for instance a map with some recommendations).
The room is quite basic, I was really missing a minibar fridge.

a very lovely building with beautiful little pockets of seating and planting. Our room had lovely high ceilings and huge comfortable bed.
2.5 / 5.0
The building a the room were beautiful, with lots of architectural intrigue and (to my untrained eye, at least) original features.
The bathroom door doesn’t close, which is uncomfortable when there’s two of you and the bathroom is right near the bed.
The bathroom has a window through to an adjacent restaurant - which is an interesting anomaly and should be kept, but there’s no blind or cover on our side, so someone looking in could see you in the shower / bath or on the toilet.
Our bed had a mattress that is collapsing in the middle and hard strangely shaped pillows.
Switching water between shower and bath doesn’t work completely, you can’t run a bath without the shower going a bit.
Coffee table has feet that are razor sharp.
Receptionist was charmless and contemptuous.
Ants. Flakey paint.

Forthcoming and helpful reception that made arrangements when I had made a mistake with my booking. Beautiful building, "casa-palacio" with several courtyards and terrace. Incredibly quiet even if we had a room facing the street. The possibility to spend time in a building you do not normally have access to -I grew up in a house like this. Nice bar and restaurant on-site. Easy to access Sanlúcar centre.
The toiletries were also very traditionally old fashioned.

We loved the palace itself, the room, the patios, the terraces
The really shockingly bad breakfast.
The unhelpful front desk, who failed to inform us that the spaces reserved for hotel parking on the road had to be cleared on Sunday morning, thereby resulting in our car getting towed!

Very good. A positive.
