Lovely stay at Owl Cottage. Impeccably clean, although slightly damp smelling. Bed large and comfy, very close to pub and centre of Appleby. Shower was good. Could do with a second small bowl for cereal etc in the kitchen although otherwise it was well-equipped. Decor was a bit dated and mismatched but this didn't take away from the overall positive stay.

Owner was very helpful and kind. Property was great and comfortable and in a beautiful location. It would have been perfect if there was internet - because it was a working trip.
4.0
Lovely property, well cared for but has limitations, which could be overcome. King size bed, but very soft so rolling towards each other; one of us ended up sleeping on the sofa, which has limited comfort and the pillows were like bricks. 2 Large singles might be better. Good kitchen, which we always search for as one of us is Gluten Intolerant - BUT (1) no oven trays, (2) Tiny frying pan, (3) No door on kitchen and no extractor and smoke alarm just outside kitchen entrance so constantly going off !!!. And (4) oven had obviously not been cleaned properly in a long time as on the first use, we smoked the house out! Lastly the heating needs sorting out (probably the boiler pressure dropping) as it was only luke-warm. Would we recommend it and stay again? YES, definitely. The owner just needs to sort out the minor issues. Two good eating places as well we tried - The Crown and Cushion at the bottom of the hill 5 mins walk from the house, great meals, good portions, Gluten Free choices and sensibly priced. And the other is new, but was a truly amazing Indian, also Gluten Free and not the usual brown muck with everything! It's called the 7eventy1 tucked away on 9 Bridge Street. Don't book for Gypsy week though!

We had the best time staying at owl cottage it was clean, well equipped and right in the centre of appleby. We found the correspondence with Angela very easy and she was so helpful when chatting to hercabd in the handwritten letter she sent us.
We were informed that a small car could park at the door but found our toyota avensis estate fitted just fine.
The bed was really comfortable and i have say the fact there is no light coming in the bedroom at night was a delight.
Fantastic cottage i cant wait to re visit.

We had a wonderful stay at this perfect cottage. It was two blocks to the town center where there was several pubs and a small grocery store. Our personal favorite pub was Crown and Cushion. Some of the best food we have had in England. There were also a few cafes close by, but we did not go to them. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage was very quiet. Full kitchen and full size refrigerator. Lots of hot water for the shower. The living room had lots of seating with a table and chairs for two, a rocking chair, and an L-shaped couch. The gas fire place was a nice feature and easy to operate. Very fun to learn from residents at St Ann’s Almshouse next door that this cottage was originally built in the 17th century as the almshouse community room. It was centrally located for travel throughout Cumbria. I would gladly stay here again.

Owl cottage
The property is small but cute and located a 2 minute walk from shops and cafes.
For two of us it was nice. Little traffic noise but you’re in town. The castle is a minute away, walks are really nice around Appleby.
No wifi which is nice but sometimes you do need it and it was hard to find wifi in the town.

Owl Cottage Appleby
This is a gem of a property, excellent location, despite being on the high street, it was very quiet, yet close enough to all amenities. As a couple of avid ramblers this was a perfect base for exploring the local hills, valleys, dales and villages. Very good value for money, one slight niggle, there was no hairdryer. We will definitely return.

Heart of Appleby
A wonderful little cottage in the heart of Appleby that affords good facilities.
A medium firmness mattress in a large bedroom with a well appointed kitchen and lounge make for a perfect base for exploring an incredible confluence of extremely beautiful countryside. The bathroom with shower was of a good size and sufficient for the purposes of a young couple.
Our communication with the owner was wonderful and the owner was extremely helpful and informative.
Will definitely be staying again.

owl cottage Is the perfect getaway cottage in the perfect location
If I could have created my own cottage for a getaway it would have been Owl Cottage. It was clean, well equipped, close to local amenities and above all it had a peaceful comfortable atmosphere. It was not just a lovely place to come back to after a long day’s walking, but it was a nice place just to relax and hang out. I would happily stay there again in a heartbeat.

A VERY COMFORTABLE WEEK AT OWL COTTAGE IN APPLEBY
A clean, warm and cosy cottage, just a couple of minutes walk from the town centre, with it's shops, restaurants and pubs.
An ideal base for exploring the Dales, Eden Valley and the Lakes.
Would recommend and would certainly consider staying again.

A very enjoyable week in an historic county town. Excellent location.
The cottage was well appointed and mainly well set up. It was warm and dry with plenty of room for two adults. My only criticism is the lack of a shower; I can't remember the last time I had a bath. Wi-fi would have been handy but not absolutely essential with the availability of 4G phones. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found Appleby a great town to spend a week in.

Character and comfort
A charming and characterful cottage giving a relaxing and comfortable base. The cottage is right in the centre of Appleby which has a good selection of shops and a library with free wifi.
The cottage is ideally placed for the Settle to Carlisle railway and gives equally easy access to the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District.
