The few days having enjoying such a wonderful cottage and very well put together interior we couldn’t find anything to be negative about. Our wishes were at one point to have a better TV rather than a streaming TV. Trying to find a new station that is in real time was very difficult, but we dealt with it. And our final wish is that in the future the telephone reception is much better, there’s nothing there to work with. I was constantly looking for an increase in the amount of bars on my phone to speak to my office that eventually became an exercise in fertility. This is my only negative thought about this beautiful cottage.

Really enjoyed our stay here while visiting family in Bluff City. A great place for family to gather. Enjoyed watching the fishing guides come by , actually saw them catch fish from the back porch.

Very relaxing with South Holston River and fire pit at night enjoying glass of wine every evening. Enjoyed the sounds of nature and geese every morning eating breakfast on the balcony with the sound of the river. We loved this place. We will definitely be back again.

My sister and I stayed here as a halfway point for both of us to hang out and celebrate her birthday. We arrived to find a Happy Birthday sign in the front yard, as well as a birthday-themed table runner and cake stand with a beautiful little birthday cake on it waiting for us in the kitchen! Not only were these initial impressions far above our expectations, but the property is either exactly as it is listed - or BETTER. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Lots of space to unpack, spread out, and get comfortable. The kitchen is super well-equipped. Truly! And as someone who has had to travel quite a bit with a child in a competitive sport, this was a wonderful surprise. Dish soap, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, decent knives, cutting boards, etc. It's all there! The bathroom is clean, well-equipped, and has everything you need, including extra towels for messes should you need them. The living area was spacious and consisted of a game area as well as a television and seating area, perfect for families who have a variety of ways of passing time together to spread out and enjoy the water that is just outside the windowed space. The back deck is right at the river's edge. We were there while it was really cold (it snowed two of the days!), so we used the fire pit and the snuggly blankets provided in order to enjoy our time on the deck. A highlight of our stay was taking our coffee out to sit and watch/listen to the water. Our first night there, we discovered that the HDMI cable that connects the DVD player to the television was missing, so I called the property manager the next morning and she brought one over for us. We loved hanging out and watching movies at night, so that was super awesome considering someone before us likely took the cable by mistake and they had no way of knowing it had gone missing before we arrived. The house is on a small, residential street right beside the river, so it was very quiet and calm for our afternoon walk when the weather allowed. We were thrilled with our visit and are already talking about our next 'sister staycation' there. We aren't into fishing, but this property is probably even more amazing for those travelers who are! We loved it here!

The property on the river was everything we expected and more. The house was clean, very well kept, and welcoming. The view from the deck is just stunning. We loved to share a meal there and listen to the river. Yes, I caught a few fish, but that experience was trumped by the tranquility of being on the river. The neighborhood was very nice for an evening walk, and we quickly made friends with a neighbor's labrador retriever. All in all, this property is everything we wanted and expected. We hope to return next year and enjoy it all over again!

Almost hate to share how perfect this place is for fear it will book up. We hope to return. Country comfort and class. Pristine Prime location for float trips on the South Holston and nearby Watauga.

Great location and close to hiking fishing and peace and quiet. Home is well appointed and clean. I have enjoyed each stay doing some outdoor activity each time. 4th visit will be coming soon.

Really enjoyed this clean and cozy cabin! View of the river is amazing and the rushing rapids are so peaceful. Lottie was very quick to respond to questions and all instructions were very clear. Highly recommend! We had a great time!!

It has absolutely everything you need for the perfect weekend escape. We brought a waffle maker and had the most amazing breakfast overlooking the river. Everything was clean and easy to manage. We can’t wait to come back and are hoping to make it a yearly tradition!

The pictures and description of River Retreat on VRBO are absolutely accurate. The home is beautifully furnished with many special touches, and it is so close to the river you could fish right off the porch if you wanted. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen was very well equipped. The king bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The only downside for us was the bedroom is very near the dead-end road and several neighbors apparently left for work as early as 5 a.m., which woke me up every morning as I am a light-sleeper. I'd definitely stay here again though for all the positives about the house and the location outweigh a little early-morning traffic. The location feels isolated, but it's a short drive to Bristol where there are plenty of restaurants and shops.
