The fenced in back yard was perfect for our dogs. The property backs up to a marsh where you can watch egrets fly in. Be fore warned that the mosquitoes in the backyard as well as the entire island are bad. If bringing your dogs make sure they are on appropriate heartworm medication.They do spray but it doesn't seem to make a difference.You will have to drive to get anywhere from this property as it sits near the end of a road with narrow berms. But there is a lot of things to do within about 15 mile distance. I recommend if you goal is to see the ponies up close and personal that you drive the hour to the MD side of Assateague Island. Because of the differences in herd management you will not see any ponies up close on the VA side and, in fact, one herd is fenced off where you can not see them at all from any public roads. I also recommend checking out the NASA Visitors center. It's not very big but a good waste of a couple hours, especially on a rainy day.

From the beginning to the end this was one of the best stays on Chincoteague Island. Sarah you were awesome. Thank you for your kindness and customer service. Sun Singer was clean and just perfect all the way around. Can’t say enough of how great it was.

However much needed cleanup and improvements needed!! Lots of cleanup needed outside!! There was trash all around the shed and side of the house. There were adirondack chairs outback. I sat in one and the back literally broke off. While I wasn't hurt the rental agency did absolutely NOTHING to make it right. I got an apology and and offering to remove the door and chair. What's the point we were leaving the next day. There also was a broken screen door from the sliding glass door left on the deck. Why wouldn't you remove it prior if you have guests coming? Living room furniture has terrible and needs to be replaced. They stated in the contract if they found sand in the house they would charge you to remove it. Well I'm here to tell you I think I cleaned up enough sand in that place for the whole season. Whomever cleans the place they should refund the owner because there is no way they move the throw rugs to clean as much sand that was under them.

We arrived sat Oct 1st to a warm breezy evening. Wonderful house. Toured the charming island the next day but then the remnants of Ian came and when the locals suggest you evacuate you evacuate. We left Sunday at 4pm. Only gave 4 stars overall as there was zero discussion at a possible partial refund for the rest of the entire week we didn't stay but it was our choice to leave and glad we did.

We're so happy they have kept it pet friendly, it has a lovely fenced in grass yard. Our pups love it. We love this house, feels like our home away from home at the beach. Awesome location - close enough to everything but far enough away to enjoy the island's natural peaceful tranquility. Perfect size for me and my two small dogs. The house was immaculately clean upon arrival and had everything we needed. My fur babies loved the fenced in yard and the deck. The bed was super comfortable. At times, we didn't even need the air conditioner (which worked perfectly) - with the cool breezes off the bay, we just opened up all the windows and let in the cool, salt air. We caught some beautiful sunsets from the deck. The neighbors were very friendly and welcoming. Especially the lovely, senior lady who lives next door who has been an island resident since she was 16. Loved hearing her stories about the island and the history of some of the neighboring houses (one was floated over from the old Assateague village). So thankful the owners and rental company have kept the rental rate for this one affordable for us working folks. Harbor Rentals were a pleasure to work with and were even able to extend a late check-out. Always professional and friendly. I've been visiting the island annually for more than 40 years. Egret's Walk is by far my favorite cottage rental. Hoping to return many times to this "slice of heaven on Chincoteague".

Lately the wife and I have been trying to find places that allow dogs and this place fit the bill. Large yard, enclosed fence, and even some bowls and toys (although we brought our own). The house itself was clean and well-kept. It is definitely an older home but it came well-equipped and even had some extras we didn’t expect. It was close enough to everything we needed but far enough away to avoid traffic. We went during off-season which was also cool enough to avoid the mosquitoes I can only imagine are around during the summer. The rental company was super accommodating and very responsive when we wanted to add an additional day to our rental at the last minute. Overall it was an easy, affordable, and trouble-free getaway. We would definitely recommend it in the future and look forward to coming back.

We celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary and Thanksgiving on the island. The cottage was everything we needed for a three day stay. It was clean, well maintained; good location; great customer service from Harbour Rentals; went out of her way to find us a place for our furbabies. Yes I would recommend to family or friends. We went to Gary Howard Seafood and purchased fresh flounder (freshest ever) a bag of oyster and bag of clams and ste at home and it was the best; enjoyed the open roads at Assateague Wildlife Refuge on Thanksgiving Day and the visitor center; ate pizza and subs at the Famous (which is great by the way). We rode to Saxis to check out the small quaint fishing village and took lots of pictures on our trip.

You will need a car to go to restaurants and shopping but an easy and short drive. The cottage was very clean and worked perfectly for my wife and me, both seniors. It took us awhile to get the correct WiFi password but contacted the office and sorted it all out - double check that to be sure you have the right one. Nice upstairs with beds but for younger types, in our opinion. We had our dog, who loved the fenced in back yard. Overall, a very nice experience at a fair price.
