Kallithea is just the south of Central Athens, bordering the Saronic Gulf and Athens' historic center. It is one of the largest municipalities in Greece. The Acropolis and the other cultural monuments of ancient Athens are minutes away on the 550 bus, by tram, or by taxi.



The most famous site in Kallithea is likely the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre opened in 2016, close to the Faliro Bay in the south of the suburb. It's worth a visit, just for the facilities, even if you're not attending an event. There is a large landscaped park and venues for the Greek National Opera and National Library.



Kallithea's waterfront began a revitalization ahead of the 2004 Athens Olympics. There is a lovely waterfront plaza. Nearby, Faliron has cafes and restaurants alongside fabulous superyachts at the luxurious Flisvos Marina.
