Die vordere Terrasse bietet einen ruhigen Rückzugsort zum Lesen und Entspannen. Das mehrstöckige Achterdeck bietet Platz zum Essen im Freien sowie Schaukelstühle und Lounges, in denen Sie die Sonne genießen und die Aussicht auf den See und den Smith Mountain genießen können. Direkt neben dem Deck, zwischen dem Gerät und dem Wasser, befindet sich ein großer, flacher Raum für Outdoor-Aktivitäten. This was our 2nd time staying at this property. Location and price are the best around for a home to fit 10 people. The amenities are great. We use them a lot while we’re there. (Boat launch, outdoor pool, indoor pool/tub). I would have used the gym again but I was having too much fun relaxing! Joe was super responsive to any questions I had. We were sad that the week of my birthday got booked next year while we were still on our trip for my birthday. We considered looking for another property but I am absolutely spoiled with the feel/view of this property. So we booked the week after my birthday instead and are staying here again. I couldn’t imagine staying at Smith Mountain Lake again without a view of Smith Mountain 24/7! Thanks for everything Joe! The Thompson Family will see you again in 2025!

We have stayed at many places over the last 35 years at SML and this was the best. The host was awesome. The beds and linens were great. Most rentals we have stayed in the beds were not good and doesn't help when you are trying to rest and relax.

The Anchor was great yet again for our family. Clean, organized, and with great amenities, this place does not disappoint! You can tell reading the reviews that the same guests keep coming back because the house, the hosts, and the lake are all excellent!

Always enjoy staying here for our family summer lake trip! Very well stocked kitchen & awesome back pantry. Rooms are very comfortable & location is very convenient to the lake if you have a boat. Joe is always very responsive if you have any questions or concerns. Love staying here❤️

We spent our first 4th of July week at The Anchor at Bernard's Landing, at SML. We have rented the lovely Anchor for our second time. An annual family vacation using the wonderful amenities at Bernard's. 70+ acres of Nature's beauty with many facilities for enjoying sporting activities ; be it on the Lake , pickleball, pools, volleyball courts, tritoon / jet ski rentals, fishing and swimming at dock out front of this beautiful townhouse. The house had every comfort in sleeping areas , cooking space/ utensils, and comfy beds for our family's needs.
Owner Joe Bandy will assist you before & during your stay too.

We had a party of 10 and took up every bed in the house. The home feels much larger in person than the photos makes it look. We had plenty of space. Never had an issue with docking up right behind the house. Beautiful cove. Beautiful views! Would 10/10 recommend. The kids loved the pools and the beach SO much. We have rented different homes 3 other times and this one was hands down the best! Joe was so communicative and helpful with any issue we had. We loved renting here so much we booked for next year before we even left the house. Thanks for everything Joe and we look forward to next summer!

This is our second year in a row staying at The Anchor and it did not disappoint. The house and property are perfect. This year we had some rainy days and the indoor pool and games available in the house kept us busy until we were able to get back out on the lake. Cannot wait to return next year!

Great week
This was our 4th year renting & we plan to return next year. Great layout & location, well stocked with kitchen items, grill, fridges, washer & dryer, linens, etc. The owner is very accessible. We would definitely recommend this unit.

One of the best places we have ever rented as a family. Incredible views, wonderful open living space, and quite clean. The townhome had everything we needed and more. Joe was a gracious host and even called ahead of our stay to make sure we had all the relevant details. We hope to stay here again!

Super vacation at the Anchor
We’ve stayed at quite a few places at Bernard’s and this is our favorite! Great layout, very clean, fantastic view, flat lot that is close to the water. Love the quiet cove and location close to the beach and pool. Joe’s a great host and answered any question we had right away. We’d love to go back.

Summer Fun
The Bandy's Home is wonderful. We have come to Smith Mountain Lake for 7 years now. This is by far our most favorite location. Many memories made and a beautiful location with everything you need or can buy if you don't have it! Peaceful and relaxing and will rent again. Close to all of Bernard's amenities!

The Anchor was perfect for our family! The house was clean and well organized, the view was outstanding, and the amenities were excellent! The SUP and kayak really add to the fun. This was our 3rd year in Bernards and we’ll definitely keep coming. Joe is an excellent host and we can’t wait for next year!

Perfect vacation
This was our second stay at “The Anchor”. We are a very sports centric family and the facilities at Bernards Landing within a 1 minute walk are outstanding. We played tennis, pickle ball, kickball and volley ball, and also swam, skiid, kayaked and paddle boarded. It was so much fun for the entire family, which ranged from 1 to 65 years old!
We would highly recommend “The Anchor” to anyone!

Perfect lake getaway!
My family truly enjoyed our stay at The Anchor! The location on the lake is perfect, amazing views and a in a very quiet cove. Bernard’s Landing is a lovely place to stay! The Anchor was clean and spacious… the beds were comfortable and the decor was very nice. We rented a boat and kept it at the dock just outside the back door… if we left out the front door the beach was just a quick walk in that direction. So convenient! Joe Bandy was very helpful and attentive, before and during our stay. We recommend this home and plan to stay again!

Great getaway
This was our 3rd year staying here. Can't beat the location, especially if you enjoy using a boat while at the lake. The house is very spacious and love having 2 refrigerators plus lots of cooking pots/pans, dishes, etc. The owner is very responsive & helpful if you have any questions or issues.

We had such an amazing stay at The Anchor! Everything was wonderful and clean. The view was absolutely amazing and there were plenty of things to do. The restaurant recommendations that we tried were all great, and we loved the winery that they recommended!

Everything about this property was top notch and our communication with Joe was effortless. He made sure we knew all about the property before we checked in and made sure our stay was, as expected, before we checked out. This was a prime location property with a breathtaking view of the mountains and lake. We had a great time on the lake that week and look forward to another stay in the near future!

Wonderful Stay
Our family loved The Anchor - the home was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we were looking for, plus the location (Bernard's Landing & Smith Mountain Lake) was great for fishing, relaxing and spending time on the water. Our family has been coming to SML since 1996 on and off. We now have 3 generations calling this their best vacation spot at Bernard's. We especially thank The Bandy family for the cleanliness of The Anchor during the CoVid challenges. We loved the attention to details with the amenities in kitchen, bathrooms, the bedding, classy furnishings, and also having the wonderful back porch and seating area. Needless to say, having 2 full refrigerators plus large washer & dryer helps a large family of 10 enjoy their week more comfortably. The great location on the large quiet cove gave the children security when using the SUP, kayaks, and a small boat (we brought). Being bird-lovers, we were so spoiled to be entertained by the many varieties of birds, but especially bluebirds galore. If you love peace and Mother Nature, this is the place. Take your tree ID book with you too. We can't say enough about the wonders of the lake and the great beauty and resort amenities at your disposal. Some things were closed due to CoVid, but so much to do otherwise. We rented Tritoon and jetski one day at Bridgewater. It was only rental place open after Labor Day. Another day the men golfed at Westlake which they said was great course. Needless to say, The Bandy family loves #185 and are so thoughtful to put it on VRBO for families like ours. Thank you Joe & Angie for making our family reunion with our Knoxville family so special. (Hint: our grandies counted over 67 anchors shown in various ways in The Anchor's decor. As much fun as counting the deer around the point each night) "Smooth Sailing" into 2021!!

The house is right on the lake with easy access to docks to jump in for a swim, launch kayaks and paddle boards, or to dock a boat or jet ski. We spent the whole week on the water. When our kids wanted a change of scene, the community pool was an easy three minute walk.The house itself is a lovely property. Everything was very clean and comfortable. So good, I don’t want to share!
We just finished up an absolutely amazing trip to SML and I can't even begin to thank Joe for how much his home played a part in it.
It's been an absolutely CRAZY summer (as I am sure it has been for everyone). This week has allowed us to finally relax, work out some physical kinks from stress (me), spend time with friends and finish some summer reading (my daughter), fish (husband and son), nap (me), play games (son) and the list goes on...
We have rented a number of places both at SML and at Bernard's and joe’s is by far the best appointed. The accouterments that his family habe provided and the attention to detail on so many items is beyond measure. Little things... like tissues and soap in every bathroom and extension cords in place in each bedroom! (I can't tell you how rare that is in rentals) And a kitchen with knives THAT ACTUALLY CUT... THANK YOU! Truly all we needed to do was to show up with our bathing suits and we would have been just fine.
We sincerely look forward to renting from you again. I've been informed by my family that we do NOT have any other options for future SML rentals, and that this is the only place!!!
My only suggestions for those visiting is that if you are coffee drinkers, bring a travel mug for a slightly larger cup size (than a normal mug size).
Also, know that the two smaller kayaks are more geared toward kids or petite adults ;-). Ther is a larger kayak and a paddle board that is more of a true adult size.

The Anchor
We had a great family vacation week at The Anchor. Everything was as advertised. The property is in an excellent location on the lake, well maintained and clean, and the owner was very responsive to our requests for information. The house had all the amenities we needed. Exit the back door to a short walk to the dock or beach, or exit the front door to pools and the clubhouse. It was a great week, full of great memories and leaving us anticipating a return.
