A comfortable vacation setting in the woods within a brief drive to Stow. Lovely sun room. Ample kitchen utensils.
Good communication with owner and manager.

We spent our Stowe ski vacation at the Stone Cottage in January. My family of 4 plus 3 dogs felt very welcome. The roomy cottage was exactly as described and even better. So much thought went into every detail of the home. The cottage was clean and very well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The owner and the property manager were very helpful. The cottage is in alittle bit of a remote area but still just a short drive to the slopes. I highly recommend the Stone Cottage.

This home is updated, clean, nicely appointed and gives great privacy in regards to lack of neighbors AND the master suite is segragated from the other two bedrooms. It was perfect for our family.

We loved getting snowed in this year for a Christmas at Stone Cottage! Plenty of space for my family and our 2 dogs. We lost power for the first 24 hours but you wouldn’t know because of the whole house generator. About a 10 minute drive to town and 20 minutes to the mountain, all with a beautiful drive. Highly recommend and we hope to be back next year!

We had an enjoyable week (albeit rainy) at the Store Cottage. The house is charming and very well equipped. Barbara. the property manager., was very pleasant and helpful in getting us acclimated to the house. and property.
Our dog and I took many walks down to the creek which was running quite rapidly given all the rain. We also enjoyed a short hike in Sterling Forest which is a short drive from the cottage.
A drive through Smugglers Notch is always a treat
Our son went mountain biking at Cady Hill.
This house is a great place to enjoy all that Stowe has to offer.

Graduation/Weekend Away!
My family had a fantastic stay at the Stone Cottage! It had a very relaxing vibe, which was exactly what we were hoping for in a long weekend in VT! We would love to book again, in the future.
It is "off the beaten path" so that was awesome! We live in a tourist town, and this had the opposite vibe.

A picturesque winter week at Stone Cottage
I stayed at Stone Cottage this week with my grandmother and her BFF. They wanted to see Vermont in the winter, so I planned a week in Stowe/surrounding area for us. Stone Cottage is so beautifully appointed and cozy -- truly a picture perfect cottage. We had a great time watching movies by the fire, cooking in the kitchen and watching the sun rise in the sun room. The house is tucked away in the woods, and is a bit tricky to get to, but we had an AWD vehicle and were fine in the snow/ice/mud. One thing to note is that this house is not particularly accessible. All 3 bedrooms are up steep stairs, and the entrance was extremely icy. Perhaps not ideal for a couple of 85 year olds, but we made it work and enjoyed our time immensely, nonetheless! Thank you, Lynne and Barbara for making our stay so easy!

Winter getaway
Terrific stay at the stone cottage. Despite subzero temps in Vermont which derailed some of our plans, the stone cottage did not disappoint. Thanks to Lynne for the wonderful communication and concern and to Barb the caretaker for her kind attention and care. We’d love to come back!

Perfect!
My wife and I stayed at Stone Cottage for two weeks in August, and we absolutely loved it. It was beautifully quiet, and the house is clean and comfortable and lovely to be inside. On hot days, it stayed cool on the first floor, which is very pleasant to come home to after a long walk or hike (and there are great air conditioners upstairs). The house had everything we needed and is very well maintained. There are also great places to spend time outside: two Adirondack chairs in the front, a hammock, a fire pit with benches in the back, and a table and patio chairs right behind the house. Both the front and back yards are gorgeous and spacious with beautiful flowers. I also want to second all the other reviewers who said Barbara and Lynne are wonderful--they are!! We had a few questions before and during our stay, and both of them were so kind and helpful. You'll have a wonderful time here!

Week at the house
Loved the property, loved the location.
Everything about the house was terrific. The the house was supplied with everything we needed from kitchen utensils, cleaning prodcuts, 3 washer and dryer which we didn't use but it was available .
Outdoor furniture for sitting outside. Cable TV which we didn't use but was available .
We were also greeted with a vase of beautiful flowers and a bottle of nice wine.which was a very nice touch.
Property owner and property manager were great to work with and very patient with my manner of constant contact which could have irritated by my peresistance but we're always understanding and personable.
All in all my family had great experience.

Great stay in Sterling Forest
I really loved the Steeling Forest area. The trails are well built for mountain biking and hiking. It's also really close to route 108 with lots of great food and beverage choices. The Stone Cottage has a great kitchen and common area to cook and host in. We also really enjoyed the backyard and fireplace area. We found the air conditiiners to be a bit dated and lacking on a few warm nights but considering many VT places don't have A/C at all we were okay with it. We are already looking forward to trying a fall or winter visit next. Both the owner and property manager were very responsive and professional.

Cozy retreat
This is our first time staying at Stone Cottage & our first trip back to Stowe since 2019. It was perfect for the 2 of us and our 2 labs. Wonderfully comfortable and clean. Comfortable beds & furnishings. Fully equipped kitchen, wifi & media worked without any hiccups. Spacious, up to date bathrooms. Plenty of indoor & outdoor living space. Great location if you are looking to be out of town, yet only 10min drive to shops & restaurants, 20min to Mt Mansfield. There is a short trail from the cottage down to Sterling Brook & for a longer walk/hike the extensive Sterling Forest trails are a 5 min drive or a 20 min warm-up road walk. Plenty of spring wildflowers blooming & birdsong during our stay. Working with Lynne, the owner, & Barbara, the property manager was a pleasure. We look forward to coming back!

The Lovely Stone Cottage
The Stone Cottage in Stowe, Vermont is a lovely property and a wonderful place to vacation.
The cottage was spotless.
The bed was very comfortable with high quality sheets, pillows and comforter. I slept great there!
The bathrooms were perfect; clean, updated and provided with fantastic towels and bath mats.
We found everything we needed for our home away from home, from top of the line appliances, BBQ grill, pots and pans, dishes, silverware, blankets and nice pillows on the couches.
The house is beautifully decorated and located in a pretty, wooded area with hiking trails right on the property, which we enjoyed.
The owner, Lynne and property manager, Barbara were very nice.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Stone Cottage.

Beautiful cottage getaway!
This cottage was perfect for our family Xmas trip. Only a few miles from downtown Stowe, secluded in the woods. This cottage had everything to make it such a comfortable spot. Great living areas, especially the one with the wood stove.-I loved the rustic feel to this room with the wooden beams. And then I also loved the bathrooms with the modern glass showers. Owner was caring and easy to communicate with. Definitely want to go back.

The Stone Cottage was perfect for mine and my husband's month-long getaway. After a couple of miles on a dirt road, we arrived at the cottage feeling very much off the grid on the12 secluded acres of land. The hiking trails on the property made for a terrific daytime activity with our dogs. You can even hear the river from the house which brought a sense of peace to us during these intense COVID times. The home is supplied with all your cooking necessities, has a TV in every room, and was clean upon arrival. A true bonus was the steam shower! The owner has done a beautiful job updating the two full baths. The Property Manager, Barbara, was readily available to answer all of our questions, and the Property Owner, Lynne, was so kind, she even called to check in on our experience. The house was comfortable when the family came to visit on the weekend, there was more than enough room for everyone. We were sad to go and look forward to returning to the Stone Cottage! If planning a visit we recommend watching for the killer orange sunset sky from the street and spectacular star gazing on a clear night while sitting around the backyard fire pit.

Very quaint Vermont cottage
We spent 8 weeks at this house during the summer. It is a quaint cottage in the woods about 15 minutes from village. The highlights include a private trail to a brook, outdoor fire pit, steam shower in the master bedroom and a picturesque location. We had a few issues and the property manager and owner were very responsive. The only negative is the internet service (local service provider is dsl and has some issues - no fault of the owner). Would highly recommend for a week long ski trip or fall foliage visit.

Perfect little/ big cottage
A gem of a property. We were there to ski but would love to return in another season. The steam shower was great. What surprised me most was that interesting set- up of the house. The rooms all felt very private. Everything you may need is there and everything was crazy clean. Also, the property manager, Barb, could not have been more responsive. The property was a bit of a drive to town but in retrospect, that was my favorite part.!

Charming gettaway
This was our second month long stay at Stone Cottage. The owner has made a few thoughtful upgrades since we were last there including a steam shower in the master bath and a fire pit in the garden. The cottage is cosy and comfortable. We immediately felt at home and completely relaxed. Our dogs adore the trails through the woods and paths in the garden. This owner goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and your stay pleasurable from the moment you walk through the door with welcoming gifts of wine, flowers and local maple syrup. I am sure we will be back!

Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable and well equipped. A quiet retreat after a busy day on the ski slopes. Plenty of space to sit and read, enjoy the fire and contemplate nature . Our host thought of everything including toothbrushes and toothpaste! A wonderful place for dogs too. We will be back!

Stone Cottage - like home away from home
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Stone Cottage. We traveled to Stowe from Virginia with our two Shiba Inus who seemed to love it as much as we did! So happy that the owner is pet friendly. I was also pleasantly surprised by the many lovely personal touches left by the owner - fresh flowers, a large jar of Vermont maple syrup, fancy soaps, natural toothbrushes, blow dryer and many more personal items for guest use - even pet beds and blankets for your furry friends.
There are 3 bedrooms upstairs. The owner's bedroom (which is on a different end of the house from the other 2 bedrooms) had an incredible bathroom with heated floors, steam shower and fluffy towels! Besides the 8 or so inches of snow we got while we were there and proximity to skiing (about a 15 minute drive to the mountain), the owner's bathroom was my favorite part of Stone Cottage. It is also a scenic 13 minute drive to town. The kitchen was well appointed to accommodate cooking if you want to eat in - a variety of spices were on hand as well!
The owner, Lynne, is quick to respond and even called us the day after arrival to check in on us and see how we were doing. She recommended McCarthy's Restaurant for breakfast where we ate several times! I would be remiss if I did not mention Barbara, the Property Manager, who came to our rescue when we thought there was too much snow on the roof. She didn't waste time climbing on the roof and shoveling snow - a true Vermonter as Lynne said!
It is truly a special place and we would definitely return again for our next trip to Stowe. Lynne/Barbara - thank you so much for your hospitality!

Another Great Stay!
Stone Cottage is a gem! The setting is beautiful and the cottage is cozy and charming. This was our 4th visit (only a month this time) and it did not disappoint. Every year there are wonderful upgrades...this year a fantastic new master bath! The steam shower was a real treat after a day of skiing. As always, Lynne is accommodating, helpful and responsive. It is very important that your stay is a great one. The house works perfectly for our family of 5. We love the living room with the wood stove that opens into the kitchen and dining room. There is also a whole other sitting area that the boys use for movies and video games. The kitchen is well equipped - we actually do a lot of cooking there. Thank you, Lynne!

Thanksgiving in Stowe
We are frequent travelers and our stay at the cottage was nothing less than fantastic and ranks in the top 10 places we’ve stayed at. The location was perfect; close to Stowe attractions like shopping, skiing, etc., yet remote enough for peace and quiet. The weather during our stay was extremely cold and it snowed so we got to put our snowshoes on and even got in a few runs. The cottage was very clean, warm, cozy and the kitchen is well equipped. We absolutely loved the steam shower and enjoyed a fire each evening! We brought our 2 Yorkies and they loved the place. Although I brought their beds and blankets, the cottage provides beds, blankets, etc. for your fur kids.
The property owner and property manager were helpful, responsive and checked in during our stay to ensure everything was going well. I forgot my luggage (first time for everything, right?) and the property manager (Barbara) immediately took my bag to have it shipped, sent tracking number, etc. to me.
We look forward to returning on our next trip to Stowe, VT.

Quiet and secluded without being isolated
We spent July and August 2018 in the Stone Cottage and enjoyed immensely. The location is perfect - conveniently close to Stowe and Morrisville, yet far enough away in the heavily forested Sterling Valley to experience cool, peace, and solitude. The cottage itself is extremely well equipped and comfortable; everything is up to date. We enjoyed our many long walks straight out the door and also along the trails of Sterling Forest - only a five minute drive away. Our dog also greatly enjoyed his frequent swims in Sterling Brook. We did many miles of cycling on the hilly dirt roads in the area and along the beautiful rail trail that follows the Lamoille river. The owner and property manager were always attentive and a pleasure to deal with. We highly recommend the Stone Cottage - we’d rent it again without hesitation.

Another great winter season!
Thank you Lynne for another great winter season at Stone Cottage. You made us feel welcome and are wonderful to work with. Once again, your home worked so well for our family of 5. We appreciate the constant upgrades to the house...wish we got to try out the new fire pit!! The setting is just beautiful and we loved hiking up at Sterling Gorge. We truly loved our time in Stowe. Thank you so much...we look forward to our next visit!

Wonderful, cozy, and comfortable!
Right from the first email with Lynne, I had a good feeling about this rental. We have stayed in many VRBO places, and this is 1 that my family hopes to return to!
The beds are super comfortable, the house is clean, well appointed, and a pleasure to be in. Barbara, the care taker is kind and helpful. Location is about 10 minutes from Stowe, and 20 minutes from the parking lot at the base of Stowe Mountain.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Perfect getaway tucked in to the woods above Stowe
We arrived in Stowe on Thursday evening, only to find that our "dog friendly" hotel wasn't in fact so friendly. A frantic search led us to what looked like just what we were after - somewhere with space to ourselves, where we could leave the dog (who is well trained) unattended when we wanted to go out for a run or for dinner.
We quickly spoke with the owner Lynne, who was most accommodating and within an hour had checked out of our hotel and driven over to the Stone Cottage to meet the local property manager Barbara, who was great.
The cottage is everything you would hope for - tucked away in a secluded spot behind many trees. It is as cozy inside as it looks outside - but also very well furnished with all modern conveniences, a great kitchen, two great baths (one w jacuzzi for post ski - or in our case - post run soak), gorgeous formal sitting room, cozy dining/living room area and great back patio and garden. More than we needed but just a treat - for both ourselves - and our dog Boomer - all of us far happier here.
If you are a dog owner, as we are - then rest assured, Lynne understands - there were plenty of dog beds and blankets in the cottage to make a small family of pooches more than cozy. Little touches like the chess board were greatly appreciated too.
The cottage is a few miles (15 mins) drive outside of Stowe - near enough to pop in and get whatever you need and far enough out that you feel like you have the area to yourself. We will be back and will definitely return to the cottage. Great spot - very highly recommended.
