We had a great stay! The house is close to everything. You can see the water and island from the house! The beach is only a couple minutes down the road and so are all the shops and places to see or go! We will be back most likely!!! Thank you!

This shack was nearly crumbling from the foundation to the roof. It had none of the rustic charm advertized. It was rusty, not rustic. It smelled of natural gas and mold. The furniture and beds were probably claimed from dumpster diving. Many of the lights had no bulbs or didn't work at all. We stayed one night and requested some tefund from the host for the other four nights. He refused to reply to our texts.

Let me say, I wish I could upload some new photos on here. The ceilings were black from the heat, the bathroom tub was so sketchy, the room with twin beds felt like the floor joist had given in, there were huge cracks and holes in the walls upstairs. The kitchen drawer fell off in my hand when I went to get a spoon. There was a huge crack at the back door where old air kept blowing in and the floor was rotten where I assume rain or snow got in. I could go on and on. We have rented numerous times through VRBO. This is the only time we got burnt. We also couldn’t take the trash out because there was no trash can outside. We waited to place it outside when we checked out. We couldn’t earlier because the neighbors giant dog came running up and barking when we would pull up. Just keep looking.

The location is awesome. The home is a throwback to 1950. If you're looking for a home with modern conveniences, this isn't for you. It worked great as a base home.

We booked the house for 5 nights and had a great time. It is centrally located so was near the ferry’s, restaurants, shops, etc. There is a grocery store right up the street and a family dollar. The house is old but has a lot of character with a great sun room and deck off an upstairs bedroom. Mark, the owner, is great to work with and very responsive when needed. We will be back next time we make it back to Michigan!

Great location in St Ignace. Great price for the number of bedrooms. Bathroom and kitchen could have cleaner and the cottage structure was very quirky.

The location is conveniently located to all the things you want to do and see in the area. Our goal was day trips to other areas so it worked out well.

The property was easy to find, affordable, and in a good location. The house is old so it definitely has its crooked quirks, but functions well for the purpose. It was well stocked with bedding, towels, and essentials. We were pleasantly surprised with the showers water pressure and no hard water! The yard could use some upkeep from weeds and dog poo. The owner offered the cleaning fee back if we were able to do the cleaning as the typical crew was not available. We didn’t have a problem doing that for a $100 refund, which was quickly refunded through Vrbo. Overall we were happy with the accommodations.

I truly enjoyed my time with my family! We loved the house. Plenty of things to do in area. The house slept everyone comfortably! We will be back!

We had a very enjoyable stay. Mark was helpful with a couple questions we had. The amenities were as stated. The location was ideal for our needs.

This property is lovely. It has all of the old charm of a country cottage and the most amazing location. It is very close to downtown St. Ignace and the ferry docks. The view from the upstairs patio was amazing.

3 generations taking my parents to cross off one of the few remaining states off the list of ones they’ve not been to. The property manager was so kind and considerate 🥰 he checked in on us to make sure all was well. The home was huge for being built when it was! We had plenty room to roam around. Very well appointed also. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals when we decided to. You could really feel the history and the love that went into this house ❤️. Thank you Mark for making my parents last road trip a memorable one!

Great quiet neighborhood. Great place to stay. Close enough but far enough away from tourist traps ! Mystery spot is a must see when there ! It was cute & family friendly

Home is comfortable and very clean. Kitchen is nicely stocked, appliances all in good working order. Conveniently located close to grocery store and restaurants. Owner friendly and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

My family stayed at this cottage for 4 nights and it was great! I feel so bad for the owner that many have been harsh about this property in their reviews. It is not in perfect condition, but the owner is very clear about that in his description. The cottage is over 100 years old, so I would describe it as full of character! The photos are 100% accurate of this property, too. It is clearly a very loved cottage and it is clear the owners have a lot of pride in this property. The communication with them was great before, throughout, and after our stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to book it again if we were to travel to the area. Thank you Mark for your wonderful cottage to rest our heads while we explored the UP!

The owners were easy to deal with. The property had all of essentials.

There was black mold everywhere in the shower. The ceilings are caving in. I know other reviews mention the floors are uneven, but you can't even put words too how bad they are. The entire house is caving in. So bad the doors swing on their own. The owner was quick with communicating, but when I sent him pictures of the black mold in the shower, he just said "oh, I must have missed that". No offer to refund. Told me to file an insurance claim. Neither door shuts and locks securely. If this were our first vbro experience, it would be our last. Absolutely horrific!!

Seeing a 4.1 rating I did not feel it was necessary to check the reviews. Boy was I wrong! This was my first and likely last time I will be using any vacation rental sites to book a vacation because apparently the owners of the property submit photos of any kind and can get away with it. We took 17 photos which have all been submitted to VRBO for review and I filed a complaint with St. Ignace code enforcement office regarding this property. This house is literally splitting in two! After messaging the owner and stating I’ve seen his stance when others have asked for a refund but I was at least going to try…I was given a photo of a text message exchange from someone who supposedly stayed there the week before us who seemed happy with their stay. I can only assume that they were happy with their stay meant the location itself and not the house. He blamed me for not reading the reviews and didn’t even acknowledge my request for a refund. We spent 40 minutes in this property, the majority of which was searching for an actual place to feel safe and comfortable in for our weeks vacation. All communication stopped with the owner after he said he was frustrated because someone else could have rented the house and enjoyed themselves and I stated I wished he had scammed someone else out of the money and not us. Please read the reviews and do not give this owner another dime!

Owner was very responsive. It is an older house with slanting floors but was perfect for our needs.

Property should probably be condemned, unfortunately we ignored some other strong negativity toward. Stay one of the four nights we're supposed to stay. Make me question VRBO ability to check these houses on your site.

Pictures are at least 5 yrs old and are not representative of this property, it was a 4/5 bedroom farm house not a cottage ! with gaps of cold air coming in from everywhere, no heat in any bedrooms, not a winter rental, we stayed a total of 30/40 minutes and the uneven floors in different directions gave us both headaches so we left. We ONLY ASKED FOR CLEANING FEE ((99.00)TO BE REFUNDED and got a HARD NO. The only bad experience we have had with VRBO ! By the by VRBO only represents owners , NOT us.

It was a great get away and the property manager was very prompt in communication. We enjoyed the space very much.

This cottage is not as advertised. It should be noted that it is clean, the fireplace in the living room is nice, and the location provides easy access to downtown and a nearby park. However, it is extremely old and not in good condition. The settling is so bad that there is not a level floor to be found, the photo showing the waterfront is exceptionally zoomed in; in reality the property is two blocks from the water, with both a public works facility and a freight dock between the two. Noise is an extreme problem, with work trucks constantly passing by. Doors have been shaved down to "fit" doorframes that have shifted because of the foundation problems , walls have holes and ceilings have damage. Space heater was a must because of how drafty it is, and from the outside you can literally see where the house is sinking right in the middle. The front door doesn't work; you have to come in/out through the utility room, which has broken tile on the floor, and the door won't open all the way because of the settling. The dryer is all but worn out, it'll take two or three cycles to dry your stuff. I'm guessing that's why the cleaning crew left a load of towels in there before our arrival and hadn't even washed the linens from the prior guest. Those were still in the washer. We didn't bother reaching out to the owner about these problems during the stay, as it was nothing he could address at that point. If you're just needing a roof over your head for a quick stay, I guess this fits the bill. Otherwise, keep going. The owner's photos are carefully taken and cropped to avoid betraying this property's true condition. I sent this review to the owner before posting so he wouldn't be caught off-guard, and he thanked me for notifying him about the dryer incident but glossed over the rest of the issues and accused me of not reading the listing closely. The reality is, I'd have been fine if the property had been as the photos/description indicated; it was not that.

Great location in St. Ignace

I had a wonderful experience. Mark was very easy to work with and was easy to contact. The cottage worked well for our group. Had a great time and would definitely come back.

Our stay was wonderful. We got married our first night at Elopeupnorth. Mark let us check in early due to get married. The sunroom was my favorite place in the house. Looking forward to a return trip in the future.

For the price it was an okay place but would be dissatisfied if had to pay more. Communication with owner was great and they were helpful. Home was clean.

The property is as described. It's not perfect but it has a lot of charm. We were able to have a location close to several destinations we had planned for our sister trip. The owner is extremely easy to communicate with. As previously described, it is a bit aged and some may have issue with that. We are not too hard to please. The beds were comfortable. If you are a person who likes your AC then you need to look elsewhere. Fortunately it wasn't too warm this week. We were away from the cabin most of the day returning in the evening.
