Le Papillon Penthouse enjoys one of the best locations on St. Martin, with many wonderful restaurants nearby and a beach that is close to private and ideal for long walks.
The building itself was finished in 2014 after a few years of planning. It was designed and built by a doctor who owned the property. The building is so well made that even with hurricane Irma we had minimal damage.
Simpson Bay Area is a great place. It is a nice combination of tourism and local culture. It used to be a fisherman's village and it still holds some of that charm. It is easy to walk to restaurants and shops so people do not need to rent a car to go to places. But when you are in the apartment or on the beach you are completely away from any outside world.

The penthouse is located on the third floor of the building. And the penthouse itself takes up 3 floors, making the last floor the sixth floor of the building.
The first floor of the penthouse consists of the kitchen, living room, dinning room, one bedroom & bathroom, laundry room, powder room, and the main terrace. On the second floor you can find a master bedroom & bathroom with its own terrace and walk in closet as well as the last bedroom with its bathroom. The third floor is the roof top terrace with jacuzzi, summer kitchen, lounging and dining area.
A great selection of restaurants can be found within convenient walking distance. To name a few:

Great penthouse with an awesome location right on the beach. All the amenities you need are there and very clean and modern. Very close to airport for convenience and watching airplanes take off from the hot tub on top floor a treat. Owner very receptive and quickly responds to all questions. Highly recommend if traveling to St. Martin. No worries if you rent this place.

Loved our stay. Around the area there is a lot of hurricane damage that has been left in rubble but if u can look past that you will love the accommodations! We would go back in a heart beat!!

We stayed at Le Papillon in the penthouse and it did not disappoint. The unit was exactly as described. We had everything we needed for our stay. The bedrooms were all large with beautiful bathrooms and comfortable beds! The kitchen, living room and indoor dining were all spacious and nicely decorated. Both the large patio and rooftop deck had amazing views with comfortable seating. Le Papillon is located on the best part of the beach. We were able to enjoy the beach and ocean right in front of the unit with easy access. Our favorite spot was right under the beautiful palm trees. Amazing restaurants and bars and shops are all in walking distance. Simona and Lorraine were both very helpful, friendly and always available. We cannot wait to come back again next year!

We loved staying here! This is our 5th time coming to St Martin and we will definitely stay here again! Everything in the villa is as described. The kitchen is very well appointed with anything you or your personal chefs will need. It was wonderful to be right on the beach! We especially loved this. Loraine, the housekeeper, is VERY hard working and cares about the properties she maintains. We really admired her hard work ethic and getting to know her. She was extremely helpful on check-in when the prior renters had left things in quite a disrespectful state. She was wonderful to work with and efficient at getting the property back into perfect order. The host, Simona, was always very prompt in responding to any questions/concerns we had and very attentive. The location felt secure and safe, no issues there. The beds were also very comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious and very nice. Overall, a wonderful experience. We would love to stay here again next year! Thank you Simona and Loraine!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The penthouse unit was beyond amazing! Clean, comfortable, highly spacious, snd stocked with every kind of house need you could possibly think of - including beautiful plates and glassware. It has all the makings of a 5 star restaurant and resort without the crowd of guests! Truly a home feel that gave you peace, quiet and an immense feeling of tranquility! Was the best stay ever! We would highly recommend the accommodation to anyone! Without hesitation. And housecleaning was so accommodating to meeting our needs it was a real relaxing stay in every sense. We did many of Simona’s recommendations and all were fabulous and truly great! Thank you so very much!

The place was as advertised- just beautiful, so well equipped. The views are amazing and to be able to watch the planes taxi down the runaway was fantastic. We loved every moment of our stay. Host was so courteous and prompt to respond. Highly recommend staying here.

This is a great property right on beautiful Simpson bay, with great views and decks from all stories. Condo was very spacious and extremely well equipped. Simona, the property manager, was very responsive and helpful and Lorraine, the housekeeper, was awesome. Would definitely stay at this lovely property again!

Absolutely stunning! Perhaps the perfect spot in St. Martin. We loved every bit of it and enjoyed its proximity to everything. The elevator wasn't working at the time. Fortunately, none of our elderly parents could make it; otherwise, it would have been a challenge getting to the top floor.

Wonderful Condo On A Magnificent Beach
This property completely fulfilled our needs on our son’s graduation vacation. It is nestled on an amazing beach with the most spectacular views. It is very close to the airport so there is some arriving and departing aircraft noise. However if you are an aviation geek, you will enjoy watching the aircraft come and go from the rooftop hot tub!
Simona is the perfect host. She answered any questions that arose and gave plenty of recommendations to make our stay even better than I could have imagined. She also helped us book a private boat day trip where we went snorkeling, visited several other secluded beaches, and a remote island where we observed sea turtles!

Excellent
I had an amazing time. The house is just as pictured. The view is incredible. Very clean. The kitchen was fully stocked. Most importantly , the communication with the host was top tier.
My only cons are
1. There was a leak in the master room. I almost slipped and fell a few times.
2. I saw a few bugs inside the house
3. The water wasn’t hot enough for all showers to be on at the same time or Around the same time. I took a few cold showers during my stay. Ouch.
Other than those three things, I highly recommend this villa.

Nice but the Noise
straight to the point.
The place is beautiful, clean, maintained, great view of the bay. and the property management group was easy to get hold of and did answer all of my questions.
But:
It is right next to the airport, every jet that takes off you feel it. They do stop in the evening and don't start back to early in the mornings. The sound/noise from the jet's should have been mentioned.

Best Beach Condo Ever!
This condo is AH-Mazing! We just returned and I can't stop raving about this property to all my friends & family. We have rented a lot of VRBO properties over the years and this was one will stand out for years to come. To start, it was in a great location, right on the beach. Simpson Bay has beautiful water, beautiful sand and no rocks right in front of Le Papillon. The convenience of walking down to the beach anytime you want was well worth it. The condo itself was immaculately clean and I don't say that often. It was well appointed with everything you need (soaps, shampoo, laundry detergent, softener, coffee, filters, baggies, spices, the list really goes on & on). The unit was spacious and just as pictured on the listing. And that rooftop!!!! The views were unbeatable. This property deserves all the 5 star reviews it has received and Im sure will continue to receive. Wish I was back there now, having my breakfast on that patio and looking out at all the yachts!!! If you are considering this property, you will NOT be dissappointed, this is the ONE!

Wake up to paradise!
When you walk into this Penthouse, beyond the beautiful decor you see the amazing view of Palm tree's and Simpson Bay. The large covered terrace gives you panoramic views of the beach below and that side of the island. This place was kept spotless, thanks to Lorraine who is so pleasant! This is a very secure property and in walking distance to some restaurants. The owner Simona has added special touches like nice linens, coffee, sugar, mini bar, soaps and lotions in all bathrooms. Our young adults loved hanging out on the rooftop terrace, in the hot tub.
We already miss the great beach and waking up to the ocean view from our bed!

Fabulous
We had a wonderful time! The property is everything we thought it would be for our family of 6 adults.....plenty of space for us all to relax and enjoy. It is close to dining and activities and we felt safe and secure at all times. The beach is perfect, wonderful sunset views, and we waved goodbye to one son's flight that had to leave early from the rooftop. Fabulous family memories for a lifetime! I would highly recommend this property!

Wonderful Villa on an Amazing Beach with a Great Host
Stayed here and the connected 2 bedroom in December 2020 with 8 people total and had a wonderful stay. The host is very responsive to any questions, the villa was better than pictures (clean, gorgeous views) and the location could not be better. Highly recommended.

PENTHOUSE VACATION IN STYLE
This place is truly awesome! The views from the penthouse (on all floors) are breathtaking. Simona was very attentive over WhatsApp and helped us setup a great boat excursion. This condo is located one of the best portions of the beach in Simpson Bay, and we can't wait to return!

Great Stay!
The property is amazing. Everything inside, including appliances, bedding, towels, etc) is first class and easy to use. The beach is steps away.
Simona was very helpful with all our questions and very responsive.
The one small negative is the neighborhood that surrounds the property. The properties that surround the rental were badly damaged by the hurricane in 2017 and most have not been fully repaired. Abandoned vehicles and boats are everywhere. This did cause any issues for our group, just something that surprised us a bit.
I would recommend this property to anyone.

Simply Stunning!
We were a party of 5 staying in this penthouse over the Thansgiving holiday. The accommodations were even better than advertised. The rooms were huge and immaculate. Everything you needed was provided. The views were simply stunning as was the palm tree lined beach in front of the condo. The rooftop hot tub with amazing views and a grill were a bonus. The whole process dealing with Simona was flawless. We have been to St. Maarten a number of times but this was our first stay here and we highly recommend and can't wait till the next time.

Fabulous place on a semi-private beach.
If you're a beach lover , don't look any further.
Simona is a great host who's very accomodating and ready to respond quickly.
Pictures, although great, don't do this residence any justice. You have to see it for yourself.
Location is also great with many shops and food options available.
I could go on and on , but if you want peace of mind, you cannot go wrong booking this appartment.

Amazing penthouse
Where do you get a 360 degree view of the beach while watching the planes come and go from the hot tub on the roof? Everything was perfectly described. Simona was very helpful and timely in responses. Lorraine, the housekeeper, was great as well! Location was spot on - close to restaurants, bakery, airport. Amenities included beach chairs and kayaks. Elevator was a bonus. Can not say enough about the views! Where there is still destruction from Irma, this place is in perfectly new condition.

Truly Awesome!
My wife and I have been making an annual trip to St. Martin for nearly 20 years, typically staying at a timeshare resort but in recent past been opting for rentals due to condition of the resort. This year we rented a week at Le Papillon Penthouse Apt #7 - by far the best place we have stayed. Modern yet simple decor, but high-end with flair from top to bottom. The construction in solid, the location is amazing - the beach is a minute walk, chairs & kayaks provided, and Palm trees much appreciated!! Gorgeous sunsets, terrific views, and amenities abound. Just about in the heart of Simpson Bay nightlife at end of airport run way. Noise not bad at all and cool seeing the private as well as commercial flights take off as well as the top yachts in the world nearly right off the balcony!
Simona stopped by and was a true professional and very accommodating to a few minor requests. We had some friends stop by and they loved the place as well. Likely will return if unit is available. Oh - pictures are real, but better in person if you can believe it.

Just about perfect
LOCATION...
in Simpson Bay is very convenient from airport--about 5 minutes drive. It is easy to see the blue building from the runway strip when you arrive on the plane! I was leery that the airplane noise would be a problem. I think it might bother some people but none of us minded it and it was actually interesting to see the planes coming and going at times.
The area where the unit is, seemed a little "rough," I think still recovering from the hurricane, although it felt safe and people were friendly everywhere. Condo and parking were secure with locking gates.
The location on Simpson Beach is optimal. Beach is absolutely perfect there. All sand--no obstacles in water or seaweed. Waves were big enough to be fun but not overwhelming. We were there around Christmas time and the water was a perfect temperature. Could stay in ocean all day.
THE CONDO...
was immaculately clean when we arrived. The unit was modern and in great shape. No signs of hurricane damage. I was impressed with how well equipped it was, with spices, pans, lots of plates, drinks, laundry detergent, shampoo, coffee and filters, espresso pods, two phones, … the list goes on!. I have not had any other rental with this level of “completeness”. Even a real Christmas tree, fully decorated. Funny, the thing that really got me was the razor sharp German kitchen knives!
Hot tub, lounge area, and grill on roof were private to this unit and one of the best parts. Sitting in the hot tub, you were higher than all other buildings in the area and had a fantastic 360 view.
Beach toys included tubes, boogie board, noodles, and two kayaks. I had a blast playing in the waves with the open kayak and paddling down the beach.
SERVICE
Simone was our point of contact. She was easy to communicate with via email or phone (they provided two to use). She was extremely responsive to our needs (e.g., need extra bedding--no problem she was there in a flash to set us up). We were supposed to have regular cleaning service but that did not really materialize due to lack of commitment on the cleaners' part. It was something Simone said would be remedied. It was not a problem for us and I know we could have asked Simone about it on the spot, if it was.
Overall, a great place to stay. Pics in VRBO are accurate and maybe even under-represent how nice this place is. If we go back to the island, this will be my first choice.

Great relaxing vacation At Simpson Bay! Really enjoyed the condo. It was very spacious and the beach around it it’s very quiet! Kind it was great for a family of six! Convenient to restaurants and shopping too!
