About this house rental
Nestled in a terrace of classic honey-coloured, Georgian townhouses, just a stone's throw from the town's centre, New Church Cottage is distinguished by its quintessential duck-egg green front door and pretty bay trees framing its front sash window; an elegant touch, setting the theme for the property as soon as you step inside. Tetbury is arguably one of the most stylish market towns in the Cotswolds, thanks to its independent boutiques, fantastic antique shops and royal connections.
Walking straight into the cosy living space of the cottage, you'll get a sense of its rich heritage, dating back to the 18th Century. An antique-surround wood burning stove is the centrepiece of the room, with tasteful historic artwork, Sanderson fabrics and antique furnishings giving the room a timeless, elegant feel. Through the living room sits a small but well-equipped kitchen, hand-painted and stocked with all that you'll need during your stay, with a handy dining space to the rear.
Up the winding staircase, lined with striking Lewis & Wood wallpaper, you'll find two individually designed double bedrooms. The first-floor bedroom has a beautiful, king-size double bed, painted antique furniture and views out to the street below. Up another winding staircase is the ensuite master bedroom, with show-stopping features radiating a feeling of historic luxury. In here, guests will find a vaulted ceiling with painted beams, a sparkling crystal chandelier, a sink-in king-size double bed and plenty of antiques. The cottage's main bathroom is between the ground floor and first floor.
Outside, there's a small courtyard with a table and four chairs where guests can enjoy alfresco dining and relax after a day exploring Tetbury and its surroundings.
Ground Floor
Entrance:
New Church Cottage is set in the middle of a classic Georgian terrace, just off Tetbury's historic High Street. Step through a classic, duck-egg blue front door, into the cottage's living room.
Living Room:
A true slice of Georgian elegance with just the right balance of mod-cons, New Church Cottage's living room manages to expertly blend classic, elegant interiors with plenty of cosy touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Decorated in an attractive, classic palette of Cotswold creams, in here you'll find sisal flooring, Georgian-era artwork, antique trinkets and a comfortable two-seater sofa and two armchairs. The centrepiece of the living room is the wood burning stove with its antique surround - the perfect spot to warm up in the cooler months after a busy day in the great Cotswold outdoors. Timeless, elegant and charming in equal measure, the living room offers a real home away from home feel for guests in search of a touch of luxury.
Kitchen/Dining Room:
Through the living room to the rear of the cottage sits the kitchen and dining area, a galley-style space with seating for up to four. In here, the refined feel of the rest of the property continues thanks to plenty of traditional touches, including hand-painted units, Iroko wood worktops and a deep Belfast-style sink. The thoughtful nods back to yester-year, unique seating and clever uses of cupboard space (hidden behind hand-made fabric doors) give the kitchen an authentic, homely yet very stylish feel. A very comfortable cottage conveniently situated in the centre of Tetbury so easily within walking distance of restaurants & shops.
Cottage beautifully furnished. Parking was sometimes a challenge but luckily secured a space outside both on arrival & departure which was good.
The owner thoughtfully delivered two fans during our stay which were much appreciated in the very warm weather.
The road the cottage is on is busy so there was always traffic noise but that is to be expected in a busy town like Tetbury.
A washing up bowl in the kitchen sink would be useful as would a tray for placing/draining washed pots. There was no washing up liquid in the kitchen & we did not feel it necessary to use the dishwasher as we didn’t cook at all during our stay,

Fantastic experience staying in New Church Cottage. Great location, close to a lot of restaurants, puns, shops and great walks. Would recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at New Church cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and well equipped. We really appreciated the lovely touches of flowers, milk and an apple pie. The cottage was warm and cosy, the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the location in the centre of Tetbury.

Traveling from Chicago, the main reason I chose New Church Cottage for our visit to the Cotswolds was that it was in walking distance to restaurants and pubs. We didn't want to have a car because we aren't practiced at driving on the left, so walkability was important. The cottage was very convenient for exploring the charming village of Tetbury. We definitely needed to book transport in advance, but it worked out. We were able to get rides back and forth from Kemble train station for excursions to Bath and to and from Paddington.
The cottage was very clean, furniture was comfortable, beds and bedding all great. Many thanks for a memorable stay.

Comfortable stay. comfortable beds, well decorated. Nice welcoming touches. Warm and cosy
Some challenges with parking and noise outside.
Would benefit from additional teatowel and a draining surface for dishes beside the sink.
Gutter at back porch needs cleaning as it is leaking inside and dripping down kitchen wall.

When entering the cottage there is a damp musty smell -
Bins outside were full so our waste is in bags on the floor in the garden -
1 dishcloth ?
3 dishwasher tablets?
Most importantly no mention that the cottage is on a busy road I have not slept more than 2 hours each night due to heavy constant road noise!!!

Our family had a lovely stay at the New Church Cottage. It was a beautiful, traditionally decorated home that was in a great location to enjoy Tetbury and the Cotswold’s area. Shops, restaurants and grocery stores in very close walking distance so it was very convenient. We definitely highly recommend this property.

We received full details before we arrived, making it easy to gain access to the beautiful cottage and find our parking space. The cottage was beautifully decorated, furnished and spotless. Everything we needed was provided. Having a local co op nearby for us to purchase food. We sat in the court yard and played scrabble as a family. We had some lovely walks daily and some lovely meals out in Tetburys local restaurants. Everything was on our doorstep which was ideal. The locals were so friendly. We had such a lovely sumner break and we made some lasting memories, with the cottage being a big part of them.

My daughter and I had a lovely short stay at the property. Great location surrounded by antique shops and restaurants. The property is on a main road which with windows open is noisy. This is mentioned on the details so it was no surprise. Dealings with the owner were easy. All in all a great stay in a fab town.

Excellent stay, we will rent from Bolthole Retreats again.
Great property, great experience.

New Years Trip to Tetbury
We booked last minute to visit New Church Cottage and had an excellent time. The cottage was perfect for us and was a real home from home. Everything was newly renovated and extremely comfortable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Tetbury is a lovely town and we used it to plan various walks and enjoy some great food.

Robert's 60th Birthday celebrations.
A lovely cottage, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. In a great location for Tetbury & the surrounding areas of The Cotswolds. We all had a fantastic time.

Brief break
This is a charming little mid-terraced cottage in the heart of Tetbury. It is well equipped and very comfortable. We were very pleased to be here, and were pleased to have the benefit of a parking space. Everything was to hand, has good places to eat close by, and easy access to places of interest. Highly recommended particularly for a couple.

Cottage in Tetbury
Excellent cottage. Decoration and furnishings are excellent .
The cottage is a credit to the owners.
The owners have tried to think of everything.
The cake and fresh flowers were lovely.
My only concern was the property was on a very busy road and the traffic noise is very loud.Hence my scores on comfort and location
Property description should mention the traffic noise but the cottage is great
Tetbury is a lovely town, lovely cafes and shops.
The owners of the cottage are lovely..

Cosy cottage in great location
Great cottage in lovely Tetbury. Well decorated and very comfortable. Would suggest maybe best for 2 people from the bedroom storage of most drawers in top bedroom and most hanging in lower bedroom but ok for 4 if you can manage with that as there are 2 bathrooms. Kitchen storage smallish so again fine for 2 or if eating out part of the time and not big meals in. Stairs quite tight so not for infirm I’d suggest. Tetbury is lovely and well located. Cirencester nearest biggish town.
Lovely stay overall. Would definitely return.

Lovely stay in Tetbury
The cottage is really well located in the centre of Tetbury, a charming town with fabulous antique and interior shops plus quirky cafes. The garden at the Close Hotel is fabulous for drinks and eating. We’re big walkers and loved exploring the countryside and Westonbirt Arboretum which is mind blowing.
We found the cottage really comfortable and appreciated the open log fire on the chilly evenings. There was just the two of us, I think four adults around the kitchen table would be a real squeeze! The owners were very communicative about arrival/departure and everything went smoothly. We’d definitely stay here again.

Bijou cottage in the heart of Tetbury
This is a lovely well furnished and equipped property. We visited in early December and were delighted to find Christmas decorations, including a Christmas tree and flowers in the kitchen. It is just this level of attention to detail that makes the property very special. The kitchen had everything we needed, and was by the far the best of any rental properties we’ve stayed in both here and abroad. It felt like you were staying at home. The property was scrupulously clean, the bedding and soft furnishings sumptuous. I would thoroughly recommend New Church Cottage.

Great property in good location
The cottage was exceptionally clean ,comfortable and well decorated
It was ideal for two people who needed separate rooms -each with own bathroom a bonus as was the dedicated parking space nearby .
However the dining arrangements were extremely cramped for 4 people Unless they eat out all the time .
Also each bedroom was on a separate floor Up steep, stairs So not ideal for anyone with mobility issues

Great Location, Beautiful House
Perfect location in Tetbury just off the top end of High Street close to all the shops, pubs and cafes, etc, but not too busy. The house is beautiful, the owners have decorated it to a really high standard with elegant touches and very comfortable furnishings. You feel that you are being spoilt. Extremely comfortable beds and very well appointed bathrooms. There was just the two of us so we had a bedroom and bathroom each which made it extra special having lots of space and comfort, perfect for friends and just as lovely for 2 couples. A perfect weekend bolthole or for longer stays. Highly recommended.

Fabulous place to stay
We could not recommend highly enough.
Clean , bright and beautifully decorated and furnished.
Everything down to the corkscrew was provided.
Would visit again in a heartbeat.

Cosy cottage in the centre of Tetbury
We took my elderly mother away for the weekend and New Church Cottage suited us perfectly. It is furnished very comfortably and we especially loved the bedrooms which were well decorated and cosy. The beds were particularly sumptuous.
We enjoyed eating 'Al fresco' in the pretty courtyard garden.

Ok
Ok for 2 but would be cramped with 4!
Not a lot of storage space. Rugs in sitting room were quite dangerous. But overall a happy experience.

Church st cottage
Beautiful cottage in a great location. This is our 3rd visit. However, we were not advised of the pre planned roadworks which went on till 3am on one occasion and had very little sleep. Had we have known this we would have changed the date. Bolthole retreats were advised but did not really seem interested and am awaiting their response.

Great service from a Nicola and Paul
Nicola gave excellent information before our arrival. We contacted Paul with a problem with the internet and he was extremely helpful and got it working for us.
The property is beautifully decorated and furnished with a lovely courtyard. We had everything we needed. Location good, within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
Generally it was very clean, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. However the covers on the armchairs need washing as do the pillows.
4.5
Comfortable and cozy
We had a weekend in the cottage and having never been to Tetbury before it is in the perfect location to explore. The cottage is cozy and has everything you need. It was a wet cold weekend and the open fire was very welcome

Super Cosy Cottage
I just loved my week in this gorgeous cottage / mini townhouse.
Beautifully appointed, very comfortable downstairs and slept incredibly well in fabulous bedroom. Excellent fast WiFi which was important too.
All the amenities that Tetbury offers are an easy flat walk and the little town has just about everything you need. I was staying on my own and it was just perfect in every way. The private off street car parking space is a huge plus point too. Definitely recommend and would love to return. As has been noted before - if any mobility problems getting up and down stairs they require due care & attention.

Good Choice for Tetbury
New Church Cottage is a good choice for anyone looking for either a short or long-term stay in Tetbury and/or surrounding area. The communication package from Bolthole was second-to-none, and the check-in was seamless, as the key is in a lockbox by the front door and you can simply arrive and enter any time. The house itself is lovely, quaint and well outfitted as described. You need to appreciate that it is "compact," and while technically could sleep 4 people, it was ideally suited for 2 adults, especially if you are planning on cooking and eating in. Location is also very good, short walking to all of Tetbury and accessible to the entire Cotswolds and surrounds. Our one issue, which was no fault of the house, was the amount of traffic and resulting noise. The house sits at a key crossroads and you have much heavier traffic, including heavy trucks and farm vehicles, going by constantly, day and night. It is something the web site will tell you, but in our minds, an investment in sound deadening windows would be a major improvemrnt to this property.

Lovely character building
Great location close to restaurants, however very busy and noisy road.Had issue with fire place re not being able to use it as it had birds. Then not being able to use it as neighbours ask you not to due to fumes going into their upper bedroom where the baby sleeps of their property.
Property manger told us to use fire place, she then called and asked if she could compensate us somehow, to not get a bad review, and to think about what we would like. When i emailed back saying maybe a refund would be nice....Never heard from her... Very disappointed.
The issue with fire place has been ongoing for quite a while according to neighbour.
The lovely neighbour actually gave us a bottle of wine to thank us for not using the fire place.
The beds match the style of the property, however with the uneven floors, it feels like your head is much lower than your feet. It Wasn’t a very nice feeling laying on the bed.

A fairy tale in the middle of Tetbury
Amazing house in the village with all you need. Gorgeous decoration and first class hosting from Fiona. You cannot get any cozier place than this in Tetbury. We loved our weekend there.
4.5
Compact, small and stylish property
Excellent location in village despite noisy, busy road. Close to Highgrove and Westonbirt Arboretum. A lot smaller than shown in the photographs. Floors uneven as with many properties of this age but added to the charming character of the house. Full of interesting 'objet d'art' and antiques, but leaves little room for guest's belongings etc. A few hooks behind doors wouldn't go amiss as would a few drawers. Dining is very tight for 4 adults. Couldn't use the open fire but central heating was adequate and hot water was plentiful. There were a few issues which the owner promptly sorted. Comfy, but small beds. Flowers and cake were a nice touch!
4.5
Beautiful cottage
The cottage was absolutely beautiful and had everything you would need. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms warm despite the cold weather! The town centre was just around the corner with cafes and restaurants. A lovely place to stay.

Nice cottage in heart of Tetbury but beware traffic and neighbours
Cottage is done out beautifully with nice antiques and is perfectly located to explore the many wonderful shops in Tetbury. However, beware the traffic is pretty heavy on the street where its located and there is an issue with the neighbour over fumes from the open fire - beware he may knock on the door if you try to have a fire. Overall a pleasant stay marred by traffic and odd neighbour.
