About this cottage rental
This charming 2 bedroom stone cottage was built circa 1790 and retains many original features. The ground floor comprises 2 spacious living rooms (4m x 4m). Adjacent to the kitchen is a lounge with log burner and the other is a lounge/dining room with the TV/DVD. The cottage is very close to the historic cotton mill / museum and river gardens within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site. Belper's award winning high street is a 15 minute walk away and just down the road is the Talbot (17c) restaurant / bar and the Tum Yum Thai Restaurant (basement of the early 19c North Mill) just over the bridge and mill weir. Walks from the river lead up to the Chevin overlooking Belper in one direction and the river gardens and nature reserve in the other.
The Derbyshire Dales and Peak District are a short drive away; local attractions are Cromford (Arkwright’s Mill museum, canal walks, etc.), Arkwright’s Masson Mill (discount shopping), Matlock Bath (cable car, gardens, etc.), Middleton Top (High Peak Trail) and a multitude of beautiful villages and walks.
The city of Derby with its Cathedral, Silk Mill, railway Round House and shopping areas, both ancient and modern, is 9 miles to the south. If you like a little more action Alton Towers is just 20 miles away - 35min drive.

Great cottage, in a lovely town, with great walks. The cottage itself came fully stocked with everything you could need, including shampoo and shower wash, kitchen was also stocked up with tea and coffee, and fresh milk in the fridge, and all the appliances you could need. We were pleasantly surprised.

A lovely place to stay, I would definitely come here again.
Such a cosy place, more spacious than I was expecting as well! Had everything you'd need in my eyes, definitely appreciated the milk in the fridge for us. The streaming services are also a nice touch, overall we really enjoyed our stay, thank you!

It is the second time we have stayed at Roy and Anne’s cottage and we loved it as much as we did the first time! We checked in after a fun packed day at Alton Towers and stayed a couple of nights. Belper is a lovely town with plenty of pubs, supermarkets and cafes. It is a cross between Haworth and Otley. The cottage is always clean and warm. The hosts are always attentive and easy to communicate with. Tea, coffee and milk are provided on arrival and the facilities are plentiful- lots of tv channels, Netflix, games, books and more.
We will definitely stay there again when we return to Alton Towers!
Highly recommended.

Lovely Belper
Just a short walk down the hill takes you to Belper. Mill, river Derwent, antiques centre, independent shops, fab restaurants and pubs. House has all you could need. View on the loo is the best.
Would be happy to stay again

Beautiful cottage in lovely Belper.
Quaint cottage on the edge of Belper, near to Strutt's Mill. Very spacious comfortable rooms with everything we needed. Even though it's on a main road it was very quiet at night and during the day we were out anyway. We enjoyed sitting out of an evening in the little paved well stocked side garden. Parking wasn't a problem and I found the best place to leave my car was just opposite on the entrance to Lodge Drive. The location is ideal for Crich Tramway Museum, the excellent new car museum at Ambergate and for Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Chatsworth. Loved it all. One of my favourite areas to stay. Thanks very much.

VISITING FAMILY IN LONG EATON
The cottage is beautifully presented. It was cosy and a home from home feel. The layout was great with 2 sitting rooms which allows for people to do separate activities. The bedrooms were spacious and the bathroom was large. Long Eaton was within easy reach and it was great to see our son and partner with their new baby, our beautiful granddaughter. We would recommend this cottage and would return again

beautiful cottage in wonderful location
Just enjoyed 5 nights in Roy and Anne's gorgeous cosy and traditional cottage. Well located for the small town of Belper (which is only a 5 minute walk away over a bridge and fantastic weir on the River Derwent) with traditional independent shops as well as some chain stores so a good mix with everything you need. If you want a full-on retail experience then Derby City is only 7 miles away and has a huge shopping complex (INTU Derby) as well as several very busy streets.
Belper has several good eateries and a great Bangladeshi restaurant which also does home delivery if you don't want to venture out.
Belper is ideally located for exploring Derbyshire and is a very quaint and picturesque small town, with very friendly and welcoming people.
The cottage was well equipped and we didn't need anything. There was fresh milk in the fridge when we arrived, along with tea, coffee, sugar and washing and cleaning products. All we had to do was buy any food to make meals, although we never bothered because we ate out in Belper every evening, thanks to the great variety of places to choose from.
All in all a wonderful break and we won't hesitate to go back again.

Perfect cottage in a central location.
Roy and Anne’s cottage was the perfect location. We spent nearly a week there and used it as our base point to go to Chattsworth House, York, Nottingham, and Sherwood Forest. We were all pleased with the accommodations and the close proximity to all you need in Belper. We walked down the road to the main part of Belper everyday and really loved being close enough to do so. We actually decided to spend one whole day exploring the town we loved it so much! Excellent work! Thanks again.

Lovely welcoming cottage.
We arrived in snow and sub-zero temperatures to a lovely warm welcoming cottage. A real home-from-home, with everything very comfortable and thoughtful, including a box of toys just right for a small grand-daughter. Milk in the fridge, a bottle of something stronger for the adults, comfortable beds, ample room for small children to play without always being under adult feet! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, and Roy was a wonderfully helpful host.
The countryside around is beautiful, and this time we even managed a couple of snowy walks. Later in the year there are plenty of interesting villages and stately homes to visit. All in all a most successful stay, and one we shall hope to repeat.
Thank you to Roy and Anne.

Modern, well equipped, well positioned for our reasons for visiting Belper
We booked the property in order to visit the NEC (8th Feb.), and more specifically because of its relative proximity to Darley Mill where my daughter got married on Feb 10th
For the price, we expected decent quality and we got it. We departed on the morning of Feb 12th entirely satisfied

Comfortable
Cottage is warm and comfortable and very well equipped. Perhaps more instructions needed on how to use equipment, Firestick etc . Stairs quite steep and cottage half way up a hill, no parking outside but within easy reach. Some good restaurants in Belper and the whole Derwent Valley is a treasure trove of history and interest. Worth a second visit!
