This was our second time spending a month at this beautiful house in Southold. We love it. The house is gorgeous and so well kept and clean. We love being on Long Creek which is so serene and pretty. We saw a lot of bird life which was peaceful with our morning coffee sitting outside. The listing is completely accurate and the photos show the house as it is. Everything was so clean and there is anything you would need for a great stay. Wendy and John the hosts are wonderful and so responsive. Would highly recommend this property and we will be back!

We stayed at Long Creek for a month and it was absolute heaven. We would give this home more than 5 stars if we could. Wendy and John are amazing hosts. They are the most responsive and helpful people we have ever rented from. They were always accessible and willing to help. The home looks just like the photos and is beautiful. It’s airy and bright and you immediately exhale upon entering when you see the view of Long Creek. The outdoor setting is completely idyllic. We loved sitting outside particularly for our morning coffee and enjoying all the birds in the yard and the swans, egrets and osprey around the creek. The house is also in a perfect location. Feels completely remote when you’re there and then you’re only a 5 minute drive from Southold which is a great little town as well as a nice farm stand. We were central to beaches and vineyards. We did not want to leave and we will definitely be back!

My stay was absolutely perfect ! John and Wendy have a beautifully appointed home that has everything you could ask for. Their attention to detail made my stay with friends and family extra special.
For example, when I asked about the bird feeders, they had a bag of birdseed delivered to the house the next day so I could feed the birds!
I have rented several homes during the pandemic, and none of them can compare to Long Creek. I will definitely return to this 5 star home.

Our month-long rental was something we’d been seeking for many years, after several “suboptimal” summer houses. This house is by far the best we have ever rented. John and Wendy, the owners, have made every effort to equip the place with everything they would want for their own home—which it is. The kitchen is especially well equipped with two coffee makers and myriad sharp knives – an anomaly in a rental. The expansive deck, with BBQ below and large umbrellas, offered many hours of viewing the wildlife - many different birds and even visiting families of wild turkeys, with additional entertainment provided by Kona, the charming, playful mutt from next door (available only if you want her). The setting is gorgeous and we spent many hours kayaking along the creek and pond (the owners even supplied three kayaks – one double and two single).
The house is centrally located with plentiful beaches, restaurants and farmers markets nearby, but the house and its surroundings are so pleasant that we were reluctant to leave often. We were so sad to leave and hope to return again soon.

Don't even know where to begin...
From the moment we pulled into the property (and certainly when we opened the door) my husband and I simultaneously exhaled and knew we had made the right choice. We are from the Cleveland area and had never been to Southold / The Northfork and knew nothing of the area. However, our son was getting married there and we needed a home base. We arrived 6 days before the wedding and stayed 8 days after, and it couldn't have been a better home away from home/vacation place. Prior to the wedding, our son stayed with us and also my daughter, their husbands and each of their children (a 6-month old and a two year old). Not only was there plenty of room, John & Wendy went above and beyond in making the nicest set-up for the children possible and even offering suggestions on room configurations based on brightness and quietness of rooms. Beyond that, their home is simply beautiful. Elegant, full of light, comfortable, incredibly clean and tons of room for enjoying company or peaceful "just being". Great kitchen, living space, bedrooms, baths. Just perfect. And then, the icing on the cake... what great outdoor space! The deck is gorgeous, with 3 separate seating areas (or pull it all together for a big gathering space!) Expansive grassy area for games and shenanigans - and really lovely waterfront with a small beach and great place for kayaking or paddle-boating and doing a bit of exploring. We walked to breakfast (Northfork Roasting), we walked to a nearby winery (Old Fields) both excellent - and everything that we did outside of day trips (from rehearsal dinner in Greenport to reception in Southhold to dinners, shopping etc.) was between 1 to 3 miles away! A truly special place and the perfect home base for us. As I mentioned, we rented blindly not knowing the area and it turned out so perfectly, my husband says I should always just make the call and let him know where to be and when! :) John and Wendy were the best hosts - spent time with us getting to know the nuances of the house and the area once we got settled and even sent us a terrific Google Doc of recommendations for the week after the wedding, when all the kids had gone, and it was just my husband and I on an extended vacation. Thank you - if I could give more than 5 stars, I would. If we ever find ourselves back in The Northfork, this is where we will stay.

Wish we could have stayed longer!
Wonderful 2 weeks! The house is lovely, very comfortable, and well equipped in all respects; the property is awesome - great water views of Long Creek, spacious yard, and peaceful! Loved having coffee on the deck in the morning and watching the sunset in the evening. The neighbor is nice and quiet, close to everything. John and Wendy were terrific hosts - so nice to deal with. Made sure we had all the information we needed about the house, the area, etc. And were very quick to get back to us when the occasional question came up. We hope to return in the future!

Nice property to get away from it all & chillax.
Love the location and property ... bring your fishing rod, you are right in the water. This area of the North Fork is great and this house is a good home base for a family getaway focused on activities by the water (several beaches nearby) and around Greenport/Southold. Owners were excellent hosts, responsive and helpful.

Another Great Summer in Southold
We had another great summer staying at John's house. The kitchen renovation is amazing. The appliances are all modern and brand new and there is plenty of counter space to cook/prep. We loved spending time on the water and evenings sitting outside on the new comfortable porch furniture. The house is in a great location and we love walking into town and around the neighborhood. Looking forward to returning again soon!

Wonderful stay!
We stayed at the house over the holiday break - we needed a place to quarantine and later, safely gather with family and friends. We had a terrific experience. The house is incredibly comfortable and warm. It was super clean and obviously set up to make renters’ lives easy - the whole house is very well appointed and stocked. John and Wendy did a terrific job of helping us settle into the house and gave us lots of great local tips and ideas. We would absolutely rent the house again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rental on the a North Fork!

What a lovely home for a month
We had a fantastic October enjoying all the North Fork fall offerings, and feeling so at home here. We had up to four kids under four at one point and everyone had space and all we needed to feel at home. John and Wendy were communicative and so helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed, and truly went above and beyond. Their home is lovely, and the property is perfect. The location was great for everything we wanted to do all month. We can’t wait to come back!

Amazing Summer in Southold
We had a great experience staying in Southold this summer. The location is perfect and walking distance into town. We enjoyed endless kayaks and swims in the creek and hanging out in the backyard. Magical Place to Stay in the North Fork (Great for kids or adult group)
John and Wendy might be the most thoughtful and kind hosts we have EVER had renting (and as NYC residents, we have rented homes many many times are we are hard to impress).
Weather you want the beautiful water views, a great yard, a fire pit for enjoy at night... this house is so great (and better than the hamptons rentals we did for years, thanks to the location and great hosts).
First - the home. Spacious and airy with beautiful decorating. This house is GREAT if you have a few kiddos or a group of adults and you want to not feel like you're on top of each other. - bedrooms are all big. Almost all of the bedrooms have views of the water which is so beautiful and peaceful. The house is on saltwater inlet from the Peconic which means saltwater which is so cool for swimming, fishing or just putting your toes in the water.
The neighborhood is quiet and lovely - perfect for taking our 3 year old on bike rides without worrying about fast cars. You're 5-10 minutes from everything - Greenport, wineries, grocery store. There's an awesome farm stand at the end of the road so you could even bike there.
The owners - John and Wendy are truly the loveliest hosts/owners. They went out of their way to make the house kid-friendly, to tell us about great events in the area...they even offered to help move things if we needed after our 6 week stay. Just kind people who love the North Fork and what makes it special.
Can't recommend this place enough. I just hope this review doesn't make it too popular so we can't rent again.

A once-in-a-lifetime find!
We were lucky enough to stay at this beautiful seaside home for two full months during the onset of the pandemic. Knowing that we were taking a break from the small confines of our NYC apartment, John & Wendy could not have been more accommodating to our family of three -- from leaving two bottles of (much-needed) wine, to rush-ordering a high chair, to setting up a crib, to sharing their top pick-up recommendations for local restaurants, to checking in throughout our trip with helpful tips on how to best utilize their birdhouses & kayaks -- they truly could not have been more hospitable. We feel incredibly lucky to have stumbled upon such a wonderful home, with equally wonderful owners. The house itself is nothing short of a dream -- beautifully designed & immaculately maintained, with massive windows inviting in bright light & views of the surrounding pond at every corner. It's also laughably idyllic -- we woke up to swans circling in the pond almost every morning! The neighborhood itself is also very sweet, with lovely neighbors and daily sightings of deer & bunny rabbits (which our baby adored). It was the perfect home for us to escape to, and we cannot wait to visit with the rest of our family next summer. Simply put, this house is a GEM. It will exceed all of your expectations and more!!!

Another wonderful weekend in Southold
This was our second year renting from John and Wendy over Thanksgiving. Their house is beautiful and immaculate, and they went out of their way to accommodate us. They contacted us before arrival to ensure things were set up properly for our extended family, and they checked in during our visit to make sure everything was going well. Their house is calm and relaxing. We love to watch the ducks and swans swimming on the creek in the morning out the window. And walk around the neighborhood at dusk to see deer.
The kitchen is very well appointed, with lots of pots and pans for cooking big family dinners. And I should note that they went out of their way to buy the omelette pan that my Dad was lacking last year. The beds are comfortable, and the linens are lovely. The bathrooms are large, and work well for extended family staying together. The location is fantastic, close to Southold, a 10 minute walk to the bagel store, the blue duck or Southold fish.
We hope to return next year, and highly recommend others stay here! This is a truly relaxing and beautiful property with lovely owners.

North Fork Gem
My family had such an amazing time at this property. It is as beautiful as the pictures depict. My husband and I stayed here with my 2 adult children, son-in-law and 10 month old granddaughter. The owners, John & Wendy were super nice people, were easy to communicate with and were so accommodating and eager to make our stay a great experience. The home was very clean, well stocked with all the comforts of home. The beds were very comfortable with beautiful linens and they even had a beautiful crib which they put together for my granddaughter. We loved the views of the water from the deck, especially in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand. The yard is spacious, the neighborhood is clean and quiet and nature is abundant. We all enjoyed kayaking on the creek and even made it out to the bay, which looked out to Shelter Island. We also enjoyed walking and bike riding around the area. There are many restaurants near by to dine in or order takeout. We visited a couple of wineries and really enjoyed the family friendly Greenport Harbor Brewery in Peconic. Many beaches nearby to enjoy. In summary, my family had a wonderful time in this beautiful home and property and would love to stay here again in the near future.

Everything about this home is perfect!
What a wonderful stay we had at this beautiful home & property! First of all, the location is fantastic, easy access to everything the east end has to offer. The property is just fabulous, the most beautiful views of the water from everywhere. We spent most of our time in the yard, which is a little piece of heaven!
My 2&1/2 year old grandson loved croquet, the hammock, kayaking &'playing with the dog next door. My cousin brought over her kayaks and that was fun to do everyday. Life jackets were there to use, nice! Inside is super clean , great beds, bedding, linens, towels etc.. Kitchen fully stocked with all you could need! Everything in the house is new. TVs in the family room & 2 of the bedrooms, great! Nice new bikes to go for a ride in a beautiful neighborhood. There was bocce ball, ping pong, games, puzzles etc.. The owners John & Wendy are super nice and there was great communication before , during and after our stay. I highly recommend this home, its beautiful and you will just love it!
We look forward to coming back again!
Thanks John & Wendy for sharing your home for a wonderful vacation!

Relaxing and beautiful property
We stayed at the house over the long Thanksgiving weekend. John was very helpful prior to our visit, answering questions about the property and setting things up to suit our needs. The house is beautifully situated on the creek and has beautiful views. The furnishings are classic and conducive to relaxing. The many couches were excellent for curling up with a book. The linens were all very nice and plentiful. We had 2 families with toddlers and the grandparents. Everyone had a great time. The toddlers spied on the adults from the balcony overlooking the living room and the property was large enough for a good soccer game outside. The house is close to lots of convenient amenities such as Southold fish market, the IGA grocery store and downtown Southold. It is also convenient to vineyards and the Geenport brewery. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope to return!
