About this house rental
All prices include taxes & cleaning.
Casa Voladora sits on a bluff overlooking Punta Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. It is a 10-15 minute walk to both Playa Espadilla and Playa Biesanz.
The house was designed by an award-winning architect to highlight and emphasize the area’s natural beauty. There are breathtaking views from every window and terrace. Even the bathrooms have a spectacular view. A tropical forest surrounds the back providing privacy and a front row seat to Costa Rica’s exotic plants and wildlife.
Casa Voladora has one private bedroom on the second floor and is best suitable for a couple, although the downstairs daybed is suitable to sleep one more - but that person would be sleeping in living room and it's not a pull out bed - it's just more of a quite large window seat. It is an intimate and romantic setting with several private terraces. The architect designed the house in a European style. It is simple and elegant in its construction.
We also have a two bedroom house Casa Mirador - (Property #150823)
Stunning House in Beautiful Manuel Antonio: The house has fantastic views of Playa Biesanz, Playa Espadilla and Manuel Antonio National Park. There are often white faced monkeys that use the trees by the house as a route to get down to the beach. Toucans and sloths also visit frequently. There is a luggage elevator that will ensure that the only thing you need to get up the stairs is yourself and our onsite caretaker, Bismark, who can help you with your items.
Walk to the Beach/Walk to Bus: It's a 10-15 minute walk from the house down to the main beach, Playa Espadilla. This beach is good for bodysurfing, boogie boarding or surfing or swimming in the waves. You can swim here or keep walking along the beach (20 min.) to the National Park. You could also walk (15-20 minutes) to Playa Biesanz which is a protected bay and good for swimming and snorkeling. They are both easily accessible from the house. It is about a 10 minute walk up the hill to the main road where the buses run as well. These buses go into Manuel Antonio and Quepos about every half hour and there are lots of taxis in the area.

We love this house. It’s our favorite rental. Tom is a wonderful manager-host, and Bismarck the World’s loveliest caretaker…

For physically fit romantic couples, solo traveler, or parent/s not needing privacy from up to two beat, calm & respectful well-behaved kids over 6 years old, due to 137 steep outdoor steps to entry, high balconies, white upholstery… Gorgeous home & location. Major feature: Bismarck as property manager -THE friendliest & best in trade! Gracias Tom, Bismarck y family🌺

Awesome property for those physically fit! No air conditioning but fan was a lifesaver. Great location to the beaches and national park, both within walking distance. Hike back up the hill from the beach is a good 15 minute uphill workout and don’t forget the stairs to get to the bungalow. The wildlife right from our deck was the best we saw all week. Monkeys and Mackaws kept us entertained. Even saw a sloths at both beaches. Lots of restaurant choices close by. Loved our week in Manuel Antonio!

My husband and I stayed 6 nights in this fabulous home. There were a pair of macaws that inhabitated a dead tree twenty feet from the deck. We would see them every morning and afternoon. We also saw white faced monkeys, squirrel monkeys and Howlers and three toucans right from our deck. If you can handle no air conditioning and a flight of 130 stairs, then this is the place for you! Walking distance from two beaches and many restaurants. Bismarck, the caretaker, and his wife, were gracious hosts and always available. We would definitely return to this beautiful home.

This place is adorable! the views from the decks are unparalleled…plenty of beautiful wildlife surrounding the house. The outdoor shower was the best as well! The location is central to both the beach and local restaurants. I’ll definitely stay here again

We loved our stay here! Yes, there are a lot of stairs but it was worth the hike up them. We saw so many animals, multiple times each day. My husband and I throughly enjoyed relaxing on the various porches and looking at the amazing views. We also walked to several beaches. If you can handle hilly walks and stairs, I’d recommend you go. For us, it was relaxing and memorable!

Absolutely fantastic place, for the cardiovascularly fit & leg-muscle conditioned only. We’ll return, as long as able!

We so loved our stay at the casa where we could watch wildlife non-stop from the 4 different decks! We were blessed to see macaws, toucans, monkeys (both white faced and squirrel monkeys), a small aguati, and even a sloth!
Bismark and his family were so kind and helpful to us during our stay! What wonderful people! Julie (the property owner) was amazing in rescheduling our stay due to a family emergency and her communication was amazing!
The casa is centrally located next to the beach (about a 15 - minute walk downhill). We would say that the walk up the hill is a bit tough from the beach and would suggest walking down the beach instead towards the umbrellas and catching the city bus back (which is very cheap). There are several nice places to eat within a .5 mile walk. The Mango Moon is an excellent place to catch the sunset over dinner while monkeys frolic about!
We are so thankful we had the opportunity to stay here--it made out stay in CR extra special and enchanting!

A great place. As per other reviews the wildlife that surrounds this “cottage” is amazing. We had monkeys, macaws, toucans, a sloth and other animals visit us almost every day. Incredible.
The house itself is very well laid out and very airy. The multiple decks (with views of the beach)are great for end of day drinks and wildlife immersion.
No air conditioning- but none is needed. End your day with an outdoor shower and the relax on the decks or inside.
The stairs are no big deal for any able-bodied adult unless you are carrying something heavy - and the luggage elevator handles that.
We stayed for a week - I wish it could have been a month!
As noted by others - Bismarck and his family are exceptional people - outstanding representatives of the gentle, gracious Costa Rican people.
Great restaurants all around as well
A real gem!

This is an absolutely stunning location. The views from the three decks are as magnificent as you will find. The house is clean and has a beach cottage fill to it. The landscaping is very beautiful...it's sitting in the jungle basically. There are toucans that live in the trees that I saw daily and you can hear the howler monkeys at night. A short, less than 10-minute drive to surf at Playalitas or Manual Antonio....it was a fun, mellow break when I was there. One caution, the walk from the parking area to the house is literally 150 stairs...If you are not in shape you cannot handle this walk a few times per day. The walk to the house is manicured landscaping / jungle feel and it's beautiful but it's a whole lot of work!! There is not AC but it's pretty shaded and it didn't get very hot when I was there. I loved this place and will be back.

I had a little difficulty finding the property, especially as I arrived after dusk, as there are no street addresses in Quepos. Directions were by landmarks and nearby businesses. I then arrived at the property to find that the owner had lost or forgot my reservation, which caused a lot of anxiety for a bit since I don’t speak much Spanish and the caretaker neither spoke English or expected my arrival. Fortunately it was off season, they had a place for me to stay that night, and things got straightened out the next day. I didn’t however get the house that I saw online and expected. To her credit, the owner sincerely apologized and refunded a couple night’s of my one week stay. This was a example of why it’s a very good Idea to call a few days before your arrival to make sure nothing got dropped in processing your reservation. After all this, I did enjoy my stay. The house is older but fairly well maintained. The view was extraordinary. I had a flock of Macaws visit one afternoon right outside the upstairs deck. Also had a troop of Howler Monkeys visit another morning. There are a number of restaurants with incredible food within walking distance or a very short drive. It was also a very good base for seeing local attractions such as the Villa Vanilla spice farm tour and Manuel Antonio National Park.

This was the Vrbo of our dreams. The keeper, Bismark, was incredibly kind and helpful-- we don't speak Spanish, but he seemed to understand everything we needed. Although we had a little difficulty finding the property, this was easy after we were there once. I shared the google map location with our drivers for tour pickups and this seemed to really help. No need for a car because the tours all do pickups. Thanks for the beautiful view and for sharing this heavenly place with us!

We rented this for two nights, but upon arrival we realized it wasn't a good fit for us. Not having A/C was clear, but the house was so hot we were boiling just getting settled in. The noise from the road below (very busy for a tiny road) was intense. The construction noise from across the street ruined any chance to enjoy the outdoor spaces or even consider an afternoon nap (metal cutting and banging). In short, at great cost to us, we ended up finding a hotel to stay at and eating the cost of this rental.
One more thing to consider: although walking the area sounds nice, the road is extremely narrow with a lot of two-way traffic both to the beaches and to town. We did it a few times while trying to decide what to do and it was not pleasant.
The area is nice and full of natural beauty, we just didn't feel we could enjoy it in that setting.

Manuel Antonio
A terrific experience, a beautiful house, fully connected to the forest and animals, and a stunning view! Would like to have stayed longer! The caretaker (Bismark) became an instant friend and provided great info and was 'over the top' helpful! A gentle soul who sincerely cares!! Fully recommend staying here if you can.
Be forewarned, this house is at the top of the property and I counted 130 steps from the parking area to the back door. Also, the walk to the (beautiful) beach is down/up a significant road that is a bit rough. Challenges for those not physically in shape.

Privacy in paradise.
What a lovely home base for our amazing holiday. The view from every room is beautiful. The place is spotless and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The condo was walking distance to beach, stores and good restaurants. The family caretakers were friendly and helpful. Thank you all!

Great getaway
Great caretakers, great hosts, great location. Not as quiet(road and construction noise) as we had hoped but great nonetheless. We watched beautiful wildlife from the house everyday including scarlet macaws, toucans, multiple types of monkeys etc. The view of the ocean from the many decks of the house was great. Thanks

Great property!
Aside from the amazing views (and wildlife) the greatest asset here is Bismark & co. It was nice to be able to stay in a place that felt more homey than touristy - I parked my car in the easy flat parking area and spent the rest of my stay getting a workout in by walking to the beaches, Manuel Antonio and the nearby shops/restaurants. If you enjoy historic style buildings, inclines and wildlife this is a great place for you. It is a quick 5 minute walk up the hill to numerous shops and restaurants, 20 minutes down the hill to MA if you don't get distracted by monkeys, birds, etc. which is near impossible. Biesanz is a few minutes away with sand that feels like you are walking on pillows, and of course plenty to watch if you simply sit on the balcony.
I did learn the hard way you need to pay attention to the outlets/charging here as some of my electronics were more finicky than others. Bizmark turned what could have been a few bumps in the trip into enjoyable experiences with his help-worth the cost of the stay in my opinion. Communication prior to my arrival, as well as while I was there, was excellent. I did notice towards the end of my stay that there were more options for recycling/compost on property than in the individual unit. I don't know if this is supposed to be for everyone or just for Bismark/the caretaker but as someone who is very aware of such things I did notice there wasn't an option for recycling inside the condo (unless I missed it)-probably my only suggestion if a change to that is possible.
If you have mobility issues or are looking for American style luxury I would suggest you be sure this will work for you, otherwise I highly suggest a stay here.

Beautiful house close to nature
This house is a paradise for nature lovers. It's situated on a hill with beautiful pacific views. We loved our stay and would definitely recommend it to others. During our stay, we saw macao, frogs, howler and squirrel monkeys.

Perfect Getaway
This place is so special. The views are breathtaking and the condo itself is lovely and accommodating. Beyond that, there is just something about its spirit that sets this place apart.
We saw monkeys every day we were there and even saw a sloth on our walk home from dinner one night. Bismarck and his family are incredibly kind and helpful. Special shout out to their dog Kobe who escorted us to our door many times and enjoyed cooling off in the water we left behind from the outdoor shower.
Everything you might want or need is within walking distance, including beaches, a small market, a yoga studio, and several restaurants. But even if you need to drive somewhere, it's very easy to navigate from the condo.
I genuinely can't recommend this place enough. It was the perfect getaway.

Saw lots of wildlife!
We stayed a week at the Casa Voladora and had 2 scarlet macaws visit the dead palm tree almost every afternoon. In addition, we had squirrel monkeys on 4 days and white-faced monkeys on one day. We also saw other unique birds. We loved the outside shower after a day on the beach - so convenient and private! Bismarck and his family were very helpful with our stay. The only downside was that noise carries easily across the hills and there were loud parties almost every night in a house across the street. But I would highly recommend this home for a couple who wants to relax and be able to see more wildlife than they will at Manual Antonio National park. We would definitely stay there again!

Great Views and Wildlife!
We love the Manuel Antonio area so decided to stay for four days. Check-in was easy; Bismarck, the super-friendly and attentive property manager, was waiting for us when we arrived, and helped us transport our luggage and groceries up to the house, then showed us around. He was always available when we needed anything (for example, holding our key while we went to the beach).
The views from the four (!) balconies are simply incredible; it was great to have breakfast while gazing down at the bay and beaches, and enjoying the wildlife in the forest surrounding the house. If you don't mind the 132 steps up to the house (we certainly didn't), it's well worth the effort.
Pros:
- Incredible views
- Lots of wildlife -- macaws, toucans, vultures, eagles, hummingbirds, monkeys, iguanas, and even a special appearance by Raoul the Sloth, who was hanging out on the stair rails when we came home from dinner one night!
- Walking distance to wonderful beaches and lots of restaurants, bars, and shops.
Cons:
- The furniture is not very comfortable; an upgrade to the chairs and couches would be a great investment.
- The lighting is bright and harsh. The simple addition of some lamps with softer, warmer bulbs would be great.
- The noise could be a bit much. We were surprised at how loud the traffic could be on the road below us. Also, the macaws in particular could be very noisy, very early in the morning; and the howls of the howler monkeys in the middle of the night is downright spooky sometimes. :-) But wildlife is one of the reasons we love the area, so it's pretty easy to put up with the noise -- just be prepared (earplugs are a great idea for sleeping).
Overall we loved our stay; a few small improvements could really bring it up to 5-star territory.

Perfect Beachside Location
We spent a magical month at Julie’s property. Every detail was wonderful and the location was perfect. A great balance of proximity to the beach and to local restaurants, bars, and inland nature. We cannot recommend this stay enough.

Private, convenient, and beautiful
My husband and I loved this house! We enjoyed our 3 part honeymoon in Costa Rica with this being our final stop. Julie was fantastic to work with and very amenable. She had great recommendations. Bismarck and his whole family (the house’s caretakers) were so friendly and great to work with.
This vrbo has phenomenal views from just about everywhere in the house. We saw squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, a sloth, an agouti, toucans, and a pair of scarlet macaws from our balcony!
The privacy is second to none. Keep in mind there are many stairs to reach these views and privacy though.
Overall, such a great experience and hope to be back next time we’re in CR!

Beautiful view
This property was perfect for our 6 nights in Manuel Antonio! We were able to walk everywhere and the view is AMAZING. You can see the ocean while you are lying in bed and from everywhere else in the house. Bismarck and his family were so kind and attentive as well. They shut the windows because the monkeys were trying to get in when we accidentally left the windows open :) I would definitely recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful time here. The house is beautiful and has some of the best views we saw during our entire trip. You can expect to see (and hear!) a ton of wildlife here. The house is a quick 10 minute walk to the beach (it is quite hilly though) and within walking distance of a ton of great restaurants, a grocery store etc. The host provides a ton of recommendations on what to do / where to go, as well as field guides to help you identify all the animals that frequent the property. Bizmark and his family that help take care of the property are some of the most joyful and wonderful people around. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to explore the area!!

Views cannot be beat!
We had a lovely time at this property. As other reviewers note, there are stairs to climb, but the reward (the view of Manuel Antonio!) is worth it. One morning, we had a pack of squirrel monkeys come through the trees right outside our deck, soon followed by 3 Toucans. Bismarck is a lovely human being. One day, he saw us walking from the store and pulled over to give us a ride. He was incredibly helpful and friendly during our stay. The only reason I didn’t Rate our stay as 5 stars is because every night, We were awakened by a barking dog that would bark incessantly . There is also a large house being built right down the hill and they start construction at 6 am. Since there is no AC, sleeping with the windows open is a must, and the noise travels!

Exactly what I hoped for
The wildlife came to visit us instead of us going to look for it. Relaxing place.

Gorgeous views + walking distance to amazing beaches!
My husband and I loved our stay! We loved this cute and authentic home. The views were amazing, beaches are in walking distance, the caretaker was extremely helpful and friendly, and I loved the book exchange! If you are looking for a real Costa Rican vibe, this is the place to stay.

Lovely small house
Great place to stay in Manuel Antonio. The house is charming and reasonably close to beaches. What really makes the whole experience fantastic is the manager, Bismark, who is extremely kind and goes out of his way to help. The house was clean and welcoming. Bismark had left us some coffee, coffee filters, tp and paper towels to get started. Aside from three things that I think would improve the place, we loved our stay there. Three suggestions for improvement are: more places to hang wet stuff, repair ceiling fan in bedroom so that it is quieter (there were two fans: a ceiling fan and a portable fan; together they made a lot of noise. Luckily for me I have noise-cancelling ear buds, and I slept with them). Thirdly, fix the mosquito netting in the attic to keep mosquitoes and birds out of the house. Great view and very pleasant place!

Gorgeous views, nicest caretakers!
We absolutely loved staying here. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we were well taken care of by Bismark and his family while also being given the privacy that we wanted.
The views are spectacular, the wildlife abundant, and the climb up the 131 steps got easier as the days passed!
I’m really going to miss my new best friend, Blancita (one of Bismark’s doggies), who loved to hang out with me morning and night.
A wonderful stay in a beautiful place!

Gorgeous jungle house with a killer view
First of all, every interaction I had with Bismarck (the man who does absolutely everything from cleaning the house to keeping the grounds) was positive. He and his family are so helpful and friendly. Second of all, you should be a relatively fit person to stay in this house. There are 132 steep stairs up to the front door through a humid jungle and it is taxing after a long day of touring or swimming in the ocean. However, once you arrive it is incredibly worth it. The house is quite big and has 4 different balconies. Two of those balconies have a table and chairs. The kitchen is stocked and fully functional including a fridge. Why 4 stars? First, my partner and I found the furniture to be quite hard and uncomfortable. The mattress for the bed could use replacing as 2 people tend to roll to the middle. Also, in the guidebook inside the house, it says that a power outage of 15 minutes every few days may be possible. My partner and I stayed for 4 nights and for 3 of those nights the power was out ALL NIGHT. Typically this wouldn't be a problem but it was around 90 degrees F in the night and we were in dire need of a working fan. So beware the power outages. Lastly, I know that hot humid places tend to have lots of bugs but there were a few too many indoor friends for our liking. Luckily there are little lizards inside that take care of many of these bugs.

Amazing home in great location!
My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights for my 50th birthday. When we arrived at the house there was a bouquet of flowers that Bismark had put in the living room for my birthday!!
The location of this house makes you feel like you are in the jungle and its very private but it's walkable to beaches, restaurants, shops, etc. We had a private tour of Manuel Antonio but we saw way more wildlife at the house than we did on the tour and at the house the animals are up close. We had visits from 3 types of monkeys including Howler monkeys, many toucans, Crimson Macaws and the most beautiful white sloth. We only had one day without monkeys.
One day after the beach my husband took a shower in the outdoor shower and was surrounded by Howler monkeys. They seemed very interested in what he was doing and they stayed around to watch him.
The 100 and something steps up to the house is a good daily workout and I felt I left there in better shape than I arrived ;)
I feel very lucky to have had this experience. This place is very special.

Fantastic location and beautiful house. If you want animals, this is the house to have.
Bismark and his family are such very wonderful people. His pets are so cute too and greet you every time you pass by. 3 types of Monkeys, Sloth and a Tamandua in the trees right outside the house. Toucans, hummingbirds, Macaws and vultures flying all around. 130 steps up to the house keeps one fit, so you need to be prepared for that, but a pulley mechanism carries all your luggage and groceries for you, just not you! MA is a wonderful place and this house is close to the beach and town and all its wonderful restaurants. However, the track to the beach (or more importantly back up again) will take about 30 minutes and its rough terrain. Best if you have a 4x4 car. Highly recommend this rental house, we will be staying here again, hopefully real soon. Was sorry to leave. Its clean and tidy with everything you really need. Kitchen is small but I have seen major restaurants with kitchens of this size, so its not a problem at all. There are 4 terraces so you really do get a great view of the tree tops and the ocean. I cannot say anything bad about this rental house, I wish it was mine!

Tidy home set high above the pacific
Very nice home with wonderful caretaker and family living right on the property. The views of the pacific and Manuel Antonio park are second to none. The wildlife from the deck is amazing. Sixteen squirrel monkeys passed right by the deck on our last morning. You do have to be willing to do the stairs (129) to use the home but we just felt that allowed us to eat more. Great location.

The place is amazing just be ready for a rainy day we got 5 days of ☔️ and they had no TV so bring laptop and some cards but Bismarck was great there from the moment you set your foot on them stairs by the way get ready for the stairs maybe 100 of them could work out worth the view you're flying with the birds out there I got lucky to have some monkeys on the patio because I forgot some pineapple there it was an amazing experience thanks for having us . Ps bring jackets I could not find one for death 💀 of me lol it was 10/21 rainy season tho

Amazing time! Charming and well kept house in the trees, surrounded by wildlife. Bismarck, his family and doggies were top notch. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful house with a beautiful outlook - and wildlife everywhere - even a day with Raoul!
We loved our stay here - the peace and quiet of the location with stunning views and the endless variety of wildlife on the doorstep - truly unforgettable!
Get a bottle of wine, some bread and cheese and just spend the evening on the deck watching the sun go down and the monkeys play - heaven.
And the wonderful Bismark and family always there to help
This was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica and we loved the closeness to the beaches and bars and restaurants of Manuel Antonio
If you get chance then walk to Playa Biesanz before 7am to get the beach and water to yourself - memorable and beautiful
Thank you so much and we didn't want to leave

Property's views were AMAZING! The wildlife was entertaining!
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. We loved opening up the balconies and sitting and watching the ocean as well as all the wildlife that appeared as the days went on. We came during rainy season and mornings were great to go out and explore. We usually came back to the house around 1 or 2 and got to watch some pretty awesome storms. We woke up every morning excited to see the view.
The house is one of a few up on a hill. You have to walk up quite a few steps to get to it so be prepared for a daily work out.
Bismarck and his family were very helpful and easy going. Of course it helped that I spoke Spanish.
All in all it was an experience to live amongst the wildlife.

I could not believe the views !! We saw more animals right from the decks than in the park.
My daughter and I stayed during Spring Break and it was amazing!!! The owner was super nice and the care taker was on hand if you needed and out of sight if you didn't . We were awakened by the troops of monkeys every morning running across the roof. Directions to the house were spot on even arriving at 1 in the morning the care taker and his kids met us to help with our luggage. The owner even had groceries delivered early when she found out our flight was delayed ; no place was open at that time for food. We awoke to the sounds of wildlife and a view that is so worth the climb up the steps. I would recommend a 4x4 to get to the beach and we gave family's rides down the mountain but would hate to carry anything more than a towel back up. Don't expect anything to be easy to get to by walking unless you run marathons , this is Costa Rica not the flat terrain we are used to living near the Outter Banks NC. Highly recommend this property to everyone that can take the stairs instead of the elevator because it is so worth exercise !!! All I can say is this house made our trip a "trip of a "lifetime"!!!! I know this sounds crazy but where else can you brush your teeth and out of each window see two entirely different beaches, only at the top!!! There was about 20 windows we left open to let the salt breeze through and even when it poured the roof overhang was large enough not to let in the rain in. Word to the wise use the mosquito net in the bedroom ; I slept on the couch and was tore up one night . Being at the top of the mountain the bugs were not a huge deal and the cool breeze was awesome. Overall two thumbs up , and take the trip with Paddle Nine for the sea cave and waterfall jumping ... insane !!!!!! Everyone was truly super nice and could speak some English which made things so much easier. Animals , animals and more animals , we even saw a sloth and baby from two feet away - was taking selfies !!!! RENT THIS PLACE YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!
