The property had ample space and amenities for our whole family!

The house was perfect for our first ever family vacation! The outdoor space was amazing!

We really enjoyed our time here but there are a lot of things that need to be fixed and cleaned up and this house would be an absolute dream home.
Let me start with the good things. The host is phenomenal, very responsive, the easiest check in ever, and communicated extremely well. The location is extremely nice and in a very quaint little cove at the north end of the lake. It did take sometime to get to sand bars and such but it was a nice drive.
The gritty: The upstairs bedroom on the right has numerous mouse traps all over the floors upstairs.
The hot tub did not work and was never told that until we tried to use it. It is also full of leaves and debris. They said they were waiting on a part so it was down the entire trip.
The washing machine did not work, it did not spin the water off the clothes so we have a load of clothes that are soaked and had to be hung to dry before going in the dryer. Bring your own detergent if this gets fixed.
We had a lot of bugs in the upstairs rooms but I think this may be something that is inevitable on an older lake home
Also recommend installing a key pad on the downstairs door so when you go out on the boat you can lock up as there are no keys.
The host was awesome and took care of our issues with ease, actually above and beyond. Still awaiting a pending refund. But overall I would book this place again with the issues we had fixed.

The check in was super easy, communication was great. Their connecting us to boar and sport rentals was helpful and the processes seamless. The house was very clean and accomodated us beautifully. Would 1000% go back and will work with Southern Charm RE in the future. They nailed it.

Very nice place. We loved the lake view with the use of the paddleboards and kayaks.

Didn’t stay at this location.
Didn’t stay at this location as it was being gutted. We went by this location and it was very run downed didn’t look anything like the picture. They had a large dumpster out front and they were gutting the house. Property was also a mess, glad they arrange for us to stay elsewhere.
4.5
No water access
We had to be moved to another house tight before the date. We did not have real water access thus making a vacation in the lake livery difficult. We had to rent a pontoon boat for a day to get the lake experience…disappointing

Accommodation Made
We are unable to review this property because the property management notified us about 10 days prior that the property would not be ready for our stay. They moved us into a different, upgraded property. Although we were apprehensive about the change, it all worked out very well.

Me and my girlfriends booked this house with Southern Charm Realty. Unfortunately, the house was unavailable due to maintenance issues. But the company contacted me promptly to let me know. I ended up getting a different house through the same company and had the best experience. I recommend this company for all of lake Norman rentals.

All good things.
Everything was fine. We got snowed in the day to leave end up staying the night for free. We had no gas for heat. One of the people we talked to apologize for not checking it before leaving. Other then the no heat and could not leave on time due to the snow and ice. It was what we needed for the event we had to go to before the snow.

I'll start with the good. We had a phenomenal time and would probably return.
The number of bedrooms was perfect for our group (11 adults). The house has plenty of space to spread out and we were able to fit four cars in the driveway quite comfortably. This couldn't be avoided since we had people flying in (rental car) and driving from different states. Second, the management company allowed us to check in an hour early since we were earlier than expected. Third, the house is outfitted with everything guests would want in terms of entertainment. There were TVs in most of the rooms for down time, good sized gathering areas for eating and visiting, a hot tub, a couple of fire pit areas, and tons of water toys (i.e. kayaks, paddleboards, floats, etc.) down on the dock.
One thing that needs improving is the AC on the second floor. Unfortunately, the AC was not working upstairs (we were not told prior to arrival) and the owner had units in each of the bedrooms that pulled in air from the outside, "cooled" it, then pushed it into the rooms. The problem is it was 100+ degrees the weekend we went so window units were not going to work. We could not get the upstairs bedrooms below 78-80 degrees. We had people sleeping on couches on the first floor and in the basement because it was too hot to be upstairs. We were able to adjust due to the atmosphere (i.e. it was not a fam vacay) but this would be a huge problem for a family gathering, especially one where kids are included.
Second, the kitchen needs to be updated/organized. Everyone knows what to expect at a rented lake or beach house: outdated furniture and décor, etc. It's part of the charm and, honestly, makes these places more comfortable. However, the kitchen is in rough shape. Bottom cabinets are missing their actual bottoms so things are sitting inside a cabinet but on the floor, which feels very unsanitary. The entire kitchen is beyond unorganized. It needs linens. We could not find a decent kitchen towel or pot holder. The laundry room/pantry area is extremely cluttered. It just felt like it hadn't been reorganized in a long time.
We would visit this house again but it would not be our first choice until the A/C is fixed upstairs and could potentially end up further down the the list if the kitchen was not attended to. All in all, if these are our biggest complaints then I'd say we had a fantastic weekend and if you can get past the things I've mentioned then you're in for a GREAT time!

We come down to fish on lake norman every year. This house was wonderful. They worked with use to have a later checkout time after our fishing tournament. The house felt just like home. We look forward to coming back and staying again. Big thanks to drew for all the great help.

Nice house, could’ve been cleaner
Communication with property manager was great. Nice layout with a lot of sleeping space and bathrooms. Wasn’t the cleanest place and the television didn’t work for the last two days of our stay. All in all, good place.

This home was beautiful on the surface and provided a great backdrop/atmosphere for our Thanksgiving with extended family. It had several function and one big safety issue that detracted from our stay. The home was mostly cleaned. One room had a potato chip bag in the floor. The trash compactor had tons of trash lodged in it. I did not remove it. It should have never been there. The kitchen was a massive disappointment. Not one knife (and we tried all of them) was fit to cut anything. I was unable to even cut plastic packaging on meat products, much less slice anything effectively. We were forced to purchase our own chef's knife so we could prepare dinner for Thanksgiving. I appreciate that it is a rental home, but good grief. The oven was even more disappointing. The oven would not heat to the set temp. The cooling fan, that is supposed to be on when the oven is off after cooking, was on during the entire process. This prevented the oven from reaching the set temp. Things that were to be cooked at 350 degrees needed to be cooked at 400+ to achieve anything close to the appropriate time window. We resorted to the grill because it actually worked better for most dishes. The dishwasher worked great though. The hand soap provided in every bathroom was at least half water. For as much money as was paid for the rental, that is ridiculous that we couldn't even get soap in it's retail form. The dryer, despite checking multiple facets of the appliance (including the lint trap), required running every load of clothing at least 2-3 times. The walkways/deckboards in back of the home leading to the dock and firepit area were dangerous. Most of the platforms were slanted and several of the stair sets were also. I appreciate that earth settles and mildew/moss/algae grows on wet surfaces in the shade, but we had 3 people fall on the stairs. We were lucky nobody was seriously hurt. Many areas of the decking and walkways were in major disrepair. If I had seen photos of these in the rental advertisement, I would have chosen a different home.I would recommend the home based on ambience alone, but I will not be renting this beautiful home in the future due to the severity of the deficiencies.

Nice - Needs Some TLC
The property is nice, but does need some updating. Every concern I raised was addressed right away, but they really should have been taken are of before we arrived. This property just needs some TLC. My family did have a good time.

Our stay
There was A lot of space for all 8 of us and plenty of bathrooms. The dock was great and we enjoyed the kayaks and fishing off the dock. There are tons of areas in the house to sit and have space

Great family vacation spot.
Spacious, Multilevel home on the lakefront. Large dining table that our entire family could sit at and eat together. 5 bedrooms and bathrooms accommodated our multiple families. Hot tub is available, but we spent our entire week enjoying the kayaks, the floatation items, and the great fishing. The house is at end of a quiet cove, no boat traffic. There were multiple levels on the deck (with seating) one of which included a screened in porch.

Great house for a big family
This quaint log cabin home is the perfect place for your large family. There is plenty of room for everyone!
The seating is plentiful, there are multiple decks, and the location is secluded. We had a great time!
The house is what you'd expect from a lake house. It isn't a luxurious mansion, but more of a cozy hideaway. You don't have to worry about destroying anything because the furnishings are older and well-used (but clean).
The hot tub was fun, the kayaks were great, and the dock provided plenty of picture opportunities.
The bunk bedroom downstairs is a bit like a prison cell, but the teenaged boys didn't seem to mind. Don't expect anything fancy, but do expect to have a great time!

Nice but needs work...
Love the design of this home! But simply put it needs updating for the price. Every bathroom had cracked tile (actually taped so we wouldn't cut our feet) worst lighting ever for putting on makeup in the bathrooms. The master shower literally screams at you the entire time you've got the water running. The lower deck had furniture that hadn't been cleaned in years and broken gym equipment was tossed next to the really old Jacuzzi (not feeling pampered). The deck to the dock. That was the craziest design ever and treacherous! No lighting so you could safely navigate at night. My 70 yr old mother wouldn't even try! I thought she was being ridiculous until I fell down 3 steps and haven't been able to sit comfortably since! Also the lights and fans didn't work on the screened in deck upstairs so we were all sitting outside at night in the dark.
I didn't really want to bash this house because of the wonderful bones (personally love this house design) and great location to everything you'd want for vacation. And we still had a great time despite the complaints, but with the cost of this rental you'd honestly expect a little better.

Roomy, but Cozy
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this house. We had a group of 15 (8 adults and 7 kids), and there was plenty of space for us all. We were able to prepare food easily in the big kitchen since it was well stocked with preparation utensils and serving dishes. We all fit comfortably at the giant dining table for meal times. For such a large house, it still has a very cozy feeling. The screened in porch out back was perfect for sitting and chatting with each other. We spent many evenings gathered in the living room talking and watching TV. We all enjoyed the game room downstairs. The kids ranged in age from 2 to 10, and there was something to entertain all of them. Access to the lake and the dock was easy. We were able to keep a couple of boats there, allowing us to get out easily each day to go tubing and water skiing. We all took turns with the kayaks that were provided. That was a pleasant extra. The kids had a ball swimming and fishing off the dock, and catching dozens of little bluegill. We didn't go out often, just one big family night at a local restaurant, but it was only a couple of minutes to the local grocery store, so it was very convenient to pick up whatever we needed for meals at the house. Stingray the cat kept us company on the front porch. He's such a sweet mascot. The neighborhood was also quiet and friendly. Everyone in our group said that they had a good time, and would love to come back to this location again in the future!

Location location
We had 4 teenagers with us and we were close to everything for them. Plenty of late night door dash orders as well. Great location on the lake too. Close to state park, Stumpy Creek boat ramp and Morningstar gas dock/marina.

We can’t wait to come back!
We can’t wait to come back! This house was absolutely perfect for our family vacation. We had 10 people and had plenty of room to spread out and not be tripping over each other constantly. We sat at the table down by the water and played cards while taking turns on the Jet Skis that we were able to park at the property all week. The kids had a blast swimming in the lake. We really enjoyed stingray, the neighborhood cat, as well! We have cats at home so that made it feel even more like home.
