Nestled amongst the palms trees and tropical garden on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie this is the perfect location to spend a few days or weeks sailing, skiing, swimming, paddling, boating and fishing.
The Place is not just an ideal summer house, it's a fantastic base with plenty to do around the area from a private Hunter Valley mini bus trip from your door to exploring the areas of Newcastle, stroll along Darby Street for a spot of lunch or explore nearby Caves Beach & Catherine Hill Bay. The Olive Tree Brasserie restaurant offers Modern Mediterranean style cuisine in a casual dining setting in neighbouring Summerland Point or simply unwind and enjoy an unplugged evening in with your family.
When you want a rest from playing in and on the biggest salt water lake in the Southern Hemisphere, you could play a game of cricket or footy on the waterfront reserve, enjoy the gardens and pool in this fully fenced property, relax with the kids at Lioness Park which is a short walk across the bridge, or hang out at the house and enjoy many of the extensive features included as outlined below.
THE PLACE is well equipped for a great family holiday and is big enough to accommodate two families or the extended family. It has two living areas, ensuring there is enough space for everyone to relax and chill out. The downstairs living area has been set up for children with a cupboard full of games and toys, and Arcade Machine. whilst the upstairs living area is more for the big kids, with a bar area and a large tv for the armchair sports lovers.
There is also 2 Kayak's at the property with life jackets provided for that little bit of extra fun! Used at your own risk.

There is a fully functioning kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. Plastic ware for the kids and serving ware for entertaining is also included for use along with a pantry that has a selection of essentials such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, sauce, salt, pepper, herbs, spices, oil, cling wrap, foil and paper towel. The laundry has both washing machine and dryer and there is an iron and ironing board for guests to use.
All bathrooms have a limited supply of soap, hand soap and toilet paper. The downstairs bathroom also has a separate bath as well as a shower. Bed linen and bath towels are provided for your convenience.
Ducted air conditioning upstairs and gas heating along with fans downstairs will keep the house at a comfortable temperature all year round. The balcony overlooks the reserve and lake making it the perfect place to relax and unwind.

We have a strict no party or events policy. It is in a quiet neighbourhood, so any type of events such as hens/bucks/schoolies/end of season sporting groups/birthday parties celebration are not allowed. If you are unsure if your group falls into any of these categories please enquire before booking. We can easily determine if the house rule of “No parties or events” is disrespected, and this means additional charges, bond forfeited and/or eviction will apply.

We had such a great 5 nights. The kids barely left the pool but did go out kayaking once and enjoyed that too. The house is large enough that you can get away from each other as there are two living rooms. We ate upstairs on the deck using the bbq and looking out at all the lovely greenery. We did visit two beaches but could easily have stayed at the house with the pool! The house is not so done up that you feel nervous having your kids there but it is just the right amount of space and plenty of facilities to keep all ages busy or relaxed, depending on what you want. We did a big shop before leaving Sydney so the local shops were fine for any last minute top ups. I'm still thinking about floating in the pool - it was a really easy, fun family holiday.

Our extended family visited The Place for my Dad's 70th birthday. The house worked well for our ten guests and it was great that our dog Rex, jokingly Dad's 'favourite' member of the famly was welcome as well! The pool and proximity to the lake provided additional fun memories for our weekend stay.

Overall we had an enjoyable weekend, the place was clean , and the space is large enough for the family. The children enjoyed the pool and the adults took time to unwind and relaxed in a quiet environment. We look forward for another visit.

A lovely spot for a family weekend. Plenty to do and and fantastic facilities in the house.
The only disappointment was not getting to use the pool as it was green but probably unavoidable due to the severe weather.

Fantastic Week Away
We had a wonderful weeks holiday. The property included all the items we needed to keep the kids occupied and enjoy their time and allow mum and dad to relax.

Perfect location, Perfect home, Perfect holiday!
We had a perfect summer holiday, the house is spacious with lots of great/thoughtful touches. Excellent for groups or families - our teenager even enjoyed it, so it must be good - right? The location is fantastic, a short stroll through gardens to get to the lakeshore, and the local "Bowlo", a corner store, butcher and a bakery are only a 7min walk away.
The pool was fantastic, we spent every day in it!
The house is excellent for pets, as its fully fenced, and the owners have thoughtfully provided some doggy necessities in case you forget...
The only caution I would suggest is for those with guests who may be elderly (parents/grandparents), or mobility limited - as the main lounge is upstairs (where the Air-Con & big TV are), but Kitchen and most bedrooms+bath are downstairs.
We had an amazing week long holiday there, and we honestly didn't want to leave!
We will return next Summer for sure...!

Amazing family getaway
This was an amazing house for a family holiday in a spectacular location by the water. The house was fantastic and very clean and also had very comfortable beds. This house had absolutely everything we needed for our family holiday and our kids had the best time, we would recommend staying at this property to families of all ages who love the water and ocean. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in this amazing house in an even better location.

Awesome place for family relaxation
This is a wonderful property so unwind and relax at. We did not leave at all during our 4 day stay, we simply enjoyed the pool, the AC upstairs, watched the cricket and played games. The Place has everything you need and we had a great time. Highly recommend!

Lovely house with multiple living areas
Beautiful pool- short walk to the lake with gorgeous walks around perimeter. Quick drives to Woolworths
The house is well stocked and has toys books dvds and a wonderful arcade machine. Boys enjoyed the canoes as well as hubby. Very relaxing and can’t wait to go again

Family Getaway
We were looking for a house not too far from home and that could accommodate all the family and THE PLACE fitted our criteria. The living area upstairs was especially nice with a lovely deck overlooking the tropical surrounds and the pool area. Beds were comfortable and kitchen very well stocked with everything you would need. Highly recommend for a family getaway.

Great house amidst beautiful surroundings. Amazing getaway location
Beautiful property. House is as listed, with the living areas both upstairs and downstairs which is perfect for the group we had which included a family with children. Great outdoor areas, lots of space to spread out. Close walk to the local shops, and very short walk out the back to Lake Macquarie and a beautifully worn in lakeside path. Even when the temp wasn’t that high, the weather was mild and lovely. The gardens are also stunning and make us really feel like we were quite far from home. Thanks very much for having us!

Amazing place for the family, clean, beautiful location and lots of fun little activities around the house. Only 2 min walk to the lake which you can see from upstairs. Family friendly and plenty of room!

"The Place" was terrific with lots of great options / zones in the house to keep everyone happy and entertained! Beautiful views and access to the lake for walks and fresh air! We'll be back in spring / summer to enjoy the pool etc.

Great house for 2 families and dogs
We had a great stay, house was good for kids and dogs. We loved the upstairs living room for the adults. Location is beautiful, there is a really lovely nature reserve behind the house and you can easily walk along to the lake.

We stayed just over a week and it was no where near enough. Our stay at the place was lovely, we could not fault it. The activities and things provided were very thoughtful and all put to use. It is central to a lot of destinations but also secluded enough to feel the peace and calmness of being away. We frequented fishing at the lake and it was a hit with my 6 y.o as she was able to catch and release plenty of fish. We will definitely be coming back again. No doubt about it. Thank you for the wonderful stay at The Place. It was an amazing experience!

Great Place for a multi generation holiday
We had a great stay at The Place! The location was gorgeous. The house was well equipped with the sorts of things that make a holiday run smoothly - from the kitchen to the pool the things on hand were just great.
