A little about the lake itself: Lake Hopatcong is only an hour from NYC yet it feels like a different world out here once you are immersed in "lake time". The lake has a long and rich history, discovered by the Lenape Indians 14,000 years ago, this was the chic destination for New York actors and socialites at the turn of the century and the roaring 20s. Today, the Lake is is knows as the largest in New Jersey with 43 miles of shoreline and is very popular for fishing, water sports and restaurant-hopping via boat. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the vicinity and also all around the lake featuring lake views and the ability to "boat hop".
The immediate surrounding area has more activities that I can possibly list here such as multiple Mini golf destinations, more hiking trails, shopping etc... You can find more information on by visiting Lakehopatcong dot com, or by simply googling "Things to do at Lake Hopatcong".

I was in business and brought my kids. Unfortunately, it ended up raining the entire week. The lake view is amazing and house is just as the pictures show. Home owners were amazing and communicate well.

We had a lovely weekend at Lake Hopatcong! Being able to dock our boat made all the difference! My kids rented a boat from Bridge Marina so the they could more friends visit for an afternoon. The hill down to the dick was a little challenging for me the well worth the effort. Sitting on the deck a glass of wine was perfect! And our last night there were fireworks!!!

The house was beautiful. The deck was perfect. Had everything we needed.

Very homey and comfortable. I could live on the back deck-great views of lake! The property was extremely clean and comfortable. We're already planning our next stay. Dock was useful since family had boat. Didn't use kayaks or peddle boat but they were available. Walking trails nearby were lovely. Tino was helpful in answering questionsand resolving minor issues.

I rented this property for my parents and my family for their anniversary. It was absolutely lovely. It was isolated enough to enjoy our family time but close enough that we had access to the creature comforts. I definitely want to come back and stay again soon.

After a long day of work the home was the perfect retreat.

Lovely home Located right off of a hiking trail, with a porch overlooking the lake.
Management was very responsive when contacted about small issues, was a pleasure to work with.

My friend and I stayed in Mid October and were treated to a great foliage show. We enjoyed the view of the lake and walking in the adjacent preserve. Saw fox, deer, an eagle, swans, ducks, pileated woodpecker, and a heron. Nearby restaurants were a plus.
Dock on property is down a very steep driveway, so you may learn, like I did, that you're really out of shape!

The property was an ideal cabin on the lake. The views were great and the back deck was total relaxation. My wife and I are always suspicious about the cleanliness of a VRBO but this place was CLEAN. We have family in the area we fully expect to rent here again.

We had a great time. Hope to go back next year!

Clean home, well-stocked kitchen, great view, quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the variety of activities to do in the area: hiking, nature walks, swimming, boat rides, antiquing, thrifting and more! There are a variety of great restaurants to choose from and plenty of stores for supplies. We tried the paddle boat, but could only get it to go in circles! The only negatives were there was no hot tub, which is listed as an amenity, and the check-in information was incomplete. The owner responded to all of our questions and addressed any concerns. I would definitely recommend this home to friends and family!

Perfect for a family of 5! The house is perfectly placed within its own lake footprint. It offers a multi level home with premium access to Lake Hopatcong. Incline walk dock to house is a workout!

We had a great time! Clean house, great view of lake, quiet neighborhood. Close to large grocery store and good restaurants. Within 30 minutes of great antique stores. Caught Pickeral, bass and perch right across from house while using owner's kayak. Owner made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend staying at this property!

I was in the area for unexpected family event. I booked the house only days before and Santino was most accommodating. I've rented many VRBO's, but this rental is like no other. This house has everything that I needed for my family of 6 to be comfortable. Mostly I was so impressed on the cleanliness. Secondly the beds, linens were very comfortable and hotel quality. The kitchen is very well stocked with all the home conveniences and then some. The neighborhood is very quiet and views from the back deck are tranquil and perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee. My family enjoyed your home and thank you for being an attentive host. I will be keeping you in mind in the event I will need a rental in the future. Thank you Santino!

Hi...we stayed at Tino's cozy place as a stopover in route to our new home. The place was quiet, and peaceful. The kids went to virtual school and I was able to get some work done. Love being on the lake and enjoying the morning sunrise. We truly appreciated Tino's responsiveness and our peaceful time before heading back towards the city. Thanks!

Lovely Location, but best suited to US citizens
The lakeside location was great, and the deck gave great views.
It was quiet most of the time, except for the occasional loud boats returning from a night fish early in the morning.
Annoyingly we discovered that, unlike Florida, you cant rent a motor boat without a US driving license, so being from the UK we couldn't use anything, which killed a large part of our intended holiday.
We did a few trips to New York City in the car, but this was a bit of an ordeal, as the traffic and general NY/NJ driving quality is awful (sorry .. but it's even worse than the UK M25 at rush hour). On average it took us about 2 hours each way.
The property was fine, but it could do a bit of an update here and there and the garden and grounds were a little overgrown, sadly.
But I guess this was due to us arriving at the end of a busy holiday season.
A dishwasher would have been really helpful however, (...plus a few more dining knives).
The owner Tino was very attentive and helpful if there were any issues, which I am glad to say there werent many.

Fantastic getaway
We stayed at the Hillside Lake Retreat over 4th of July weekend and had a wonderful time. Despite forecasts for rain it was beautiful almost the entire time. We relaxed on the amazing porch, grilled big dinners and enjoyed the toys in the private shed down by the lake. The spacious kitchen, living and dining area had everything we needed. The main bedroom is huge, and the two upstairs were very comfy and probably could have slept 3 in each. Tino responded right away to all our questions and requests and was patient with us even though we checked out a little late! A great unexpected bonus is that we met both neighbors next door and one across the street and all were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Hope to stay again.

Comfortable - Amazing sunrises over the lake
Great location - Excellent views - Tino was fantastic and very helpful when we needed it. Plenty of off street parking, which was great for us. We rented the house for our work crew that was doing utility audits in the area, and this put us in close proximity to our work. we had the house for 27 days and never really had a problem. I imagine this place would be pretty fun in the summer when you could enjoy the balcony and the view of the lake. my only complaint would be that the house is on some kind of septic system and you cant flush the tp. For a person that hasn't ever experienced that before it might be a little uncomfortable. You get used to it after a few days, but a heads up would have been good. Many if not all of the house in the area are in the same situation so it is probably not something you don't think about if you are from the area
All in all the house worked great for our needs and we would probably rent it again next year if our project continues. Thank Tino, great little place you have there.
