Newgale is a one of the most spectacular beaches on the Pembrokeshire coast. It's almost 2 miles of golden sand backed by a huge pebble bank formed after a BIG storm in 1859.
Kitesurfing and surfing are popular on this beach and tuition is available.
Walk right down to the southern end to find a walk-through cave and numerous sheltered bays.
Cross the river, at the back of the pebble bank opposite the cafe at the north end to gain access to several low tide bays.
At very low tide it’s possible to walk round to Cwm Mawr beach but keep an eye on the tide times as you don't want to get cut off.
Dog restrictions apply to the middle third of the beach between the 1st May and 30th September.
While there are a few public transport options running along the coast, it's definitely recommended that you have a car for the duration of your stay. Ponderosa has ample off road parking for up to 3 large vehicles.

We really enjoyed our stay. And the stair gates was so helpful as we had a dog.

Lovely property, brilliantly located for the beach.
Fab stay… everything you could want on hand. Safe off road route to beach via the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path just feet outside the front door.
Very kind hosts - don’t know if Tom will want me to advertise this but he offered to take two of our serious cyclists on a guided tour of the Preselli hills - sadly said cyclists couldn’t come as self isolating due to COVID.
Great break.

Perfect location lovely house
Beautiful view from Ponderosa which is a spacious and light filled house with everything you need to feel at home. We spent a very happy week there with our dogs and will be back. Tom was extremely helpful and we felt very welcome. Newgale beach is gorgeous and lots to explore nearby. Lovely.

Four generations (plus 2 dogs) enjoyed four days at Newgale. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Great views and a great balcony to appreciate them from. Wonderful beach.Younger members enjoyed coastal walk into Solva. Cambrian Arms for a superb lunch. We did have to leave note for housekeeper re drain smell in one bathroom (we sorted with bleach and waste pipe clean!) and really felt that the shower maintenance (sealer etc.) needs to be checked. Nevertheless we all came away happy.

Ponderosa - the star of Pembrokeshire
Ponderosa is a hidden gem of Pembrokeshire. A lovely, spacious house full of excellent amenities and facilities, room enough for 10 people and pet friendly too. The house overlooks the wonderful beach at Newgale with spectacular views out to St Bride's Bay. We were greeted with fresh flowers and Welsh cakes and plenty of things to make our stay wonderful - from eating facilities, loungers and BBQs outside to plenty of games to play or TVs to watch if the weather was cooler. And it's the starting point for a wonderful Pembrokeshire experience - we discovered St David's and Narberth as lovely towns, beautiful coves at Solna and Little Haven and huge dog friendly beaches at Broad Haven and Settlands. And you can eat well and reasonably all across the wonderful pubs and bistros in Little Haven, Solna, Porthgain and many more places. Thanks you Tom and Abi for making it a wonderful week at Ponderosa.
