A group of my friends and I traveled down to Tacoma from BC to attend a concert at the Tacoma Dome. The house was a perfect place to gather all of us. It had everything we needed and everyone had plenty of space to hangout . The only negative was the homeless area nearby. Other then that this rental is a perfect place to bring friends and/or family to gather.

Great place for a big family
Mike was very accommodating and responsive. The house is very open and everyone was able to have their own room. The house was nice and clean when we arrived. Nice little patios in the back. Very close to the Tacoma historic district. Great place to stay with a big family. My kids really enjoyed the games that were available. There is also a ramp in the front of the house which we were grateful for as my son has special needs so he was able to get in and out of the house easily.

Big plenty of space
Big, clean and, comfortable. Neighborhood is okay some homelessness in the area due to rehab center being next door but no issues to be concern with. Overall we loved our stay

Perfect for large groups!
We had a very large group of family in town and we fit comfortably in the house. The kitchen was fully usable with plenty of dishes, silverware and pans to cook for all of us. There were several fans throughout the house thankfully, as we were there during a record heat wave. Mike was easy to work with and very responsive. Would definitely stay there again!

This is a great house for a big family. We were able to visit with each other and cook big meals. Everyone had their own rooms for privacy if needed. Mike was amazing. It was perfect for my 80 year old parents to get in and the parking was great as well!!!

Perfect sized house for the wedding party
The house was big enough for all of us. Restaurants were all around us and there were many choices. The neighborhood was a little scary but I blame covid for that

Cleanliness and owner proactive help, worth the price
Our family and friends created lots of memories for our recent stay. There is plenty of space for everyone, cleanliness and lots of games and entertainment options. Being in downtown, it opened up outside world for us to venture around. Kitchen was awesome and we could prepare food and enjoyed every moment. Definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for a quick get away for an awesome experience.

Tacoma home
Great place for a big group to stay! Plenty of bedrooms, places to relax, used the outdoor deck every night! Lots of extras in the kitchen for cooking! Would definitely do it again with a big group!

We had a great time! The location was close to family activities and restaurants which was nice. There were plenty of places to sleep and gather together while we were there as well. The kitchen was well equipped as well as having enough towels for all guests. The parking was a bit tricky with only 3 parking places but, we had no problem finding on-street parking close by.Mike was responsive and very supportive whenever we had a question. Communication with him was enjoyable. The only real downside was that it was only partly set up for someone with a mobiity handicap in the sense that there were no grab bars in the shower and because it had a low curb, it was not truly wheelchair accessible. All that considered, we had a very successful and pleasant stay there.

Outstanding Value
For the nightly price of a decent Seattle hotel room, we were able to host a 3-day family reunion of 12 adults, and were absolutely delighted with our choice to stay at this house.
The large kitchen is well-equipped to accommodate large groups, including the 19 people who were there for lunch and dinner on Saturday. There are plenty of dishes, and the folding table and extra chairs were very helpful.
The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and Mike was a most gracious and accommodating host. He is a prompt and friendly communicator, and when I inadvertently left behind the pitcher to my Vitamix blender (potentially very expensive to replace, yikes), he graciously had it shipped to me almost immediately. Truly, it was a pleasure working with him from beginning to end, and I heartily recommend this property.
As others have reported, the surrounding neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, but folks generally keep to themselves and it was all fine. There is a really lovely park a few blocks up with a fountain, walking paths, and a botanical conservatory. Family groups walked up there several times without any issues, and one group had a pleasant walk Sunday morning to a nearby church.
Do be aware that there is no curb-side parking immediately in front of the house. There are 3 dedicated parking spots behind the house however (do watch for potential trip hazards, especially at the top of the cement steps leading up from the rear parking), and plenty of street parking immediately around the corner just one house down. It was never a problem.
The house is very convenient home-base from which to visit the Art and Glass museums and the LeMay car museum which was very cool. We also enjoyed an afternoon at Point Defiance which is just a short 25 minute drive. It would be a convenient place to stay for families with a loved one in the nearby hospital as well. There is a shopping area 15-20 min way by car that has a Trader Joe's, large Safeway, and a Rite Aid all together. A small Safeway is 5-7 minutes away if you need to replenish a few items.
In summary, this house is a tremendous find for families and groups, especially adults and older children or teens. It served our needs very well, and everyone was quite happy with their stay.

Horrible Experience, Avoid!!!
How a person reacts in times of dispute shows true definition of character. Mike the owner was very unprofessional and behaved irrationally. He threatened to leave negative reviews on me if I left him a negative review even though I did nothing wrong. He sent me numerous irate emails until I told him not to contact me again. He doesn't believe anyone will believe my review. Well I wouldn't waste my time writing if it weren't the truth. I have to dispute with credit card company to try and get charges reversed as he refused to refund me.
Upon arrival I noticed the house wasn't clean. I walked around the house and noticed a purse sitting in a chair. I continued to do a walk through and found a lady asleep in one of the bedrooms. Turns out she was the cleaner and fell asleep on the job before completion.
The home was not clean and there were comforters on some of the beds and some of the beds didn't have sheets. The beds with comforters were disheveled and appeared to have been used.
We had a party of 8 which included 3 elderly ladies. We traveled 3 hours to get there. It would have taken 2 to 3 hours to clean the home including time to wash and dry the bedding. I decided it was not acceptable to wait that long and booked us hotels elsewhere.
The owner was not happy that I decided not to stay and said I was being unreasonable for not waiting hours for the cleaning to be finished. He refused to give me a refund and accused me of just trying to get out of staying there. The owner does not dispute the place was not ready and admitted it would take a couple hours to fix, yet he behaved as if I was in the wrong. At the end of the day, the place was not ready for our stay and the owner is awful.

We had a blast!
We had a blast at this property! We loved that it was right down the way from a bakery, coffee shop, and art store. (Within walking distance) There were enough bedrooms for all of us to not have to share and to move around without it being cramped. The kitchen came stocked with basic flatware and dishes so we were able to cook instead of having to order in all the time. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better stay. We also appreciated that Mike responded to any question we had right away! The neighborhood was a little colorful.... but all in all we thought it was an awesome house and exactly what we needed. We will be renting again next year!

Huge House, Great location
This house is very conveniently located about 3-4 blocks from the convention center. Some friends and I were attending an event there and hotel rates nearby were $200+ per night even when booked months in advance. We were able to sleep 16 people comfortably for only $35 a night per person. Can't beat that!
I'm dinging 1 star simply because there was like.... sooo many dead flies on the 3rd floor. Like a fly massacre. And there was a good 20-30 flies still kicking. I don't know where all these flies came from or why they were there but we got rid of most of them just by opening a window up there.
It really wasn't a big deal, but its something that should have been cleaned up/taken care of before we got there.
Also the grill has seen better days, only 3 of the burners worked, the electric starter didn't work and there was no long lighters in the house so I ended up having to start it by lighting a paper plate on fire. That happens with time with public grills though. In the end we were able to grill to our hearts content every night.
The bathrooms/showers were great. Beds comfortable. Kitchen stocked. The couches were very comfy. The video game consoles were a nice touch and helped keep the large group occupied. Would def recommend for large groups!

Gem in the rough
If you have a large group, this is the place for you. There was so much room for our large group. The kitchen was great with all the dishes, pots and pans and utensils you need. We had 1 issue and Mike was on the spot . The neighborhood is interesting. There are a few homeless around but no one bothered and it was quiet. I think we were the louder of anyone. This spots floors just kept going up and up and it was an amazing view from the top floor. There were plenty of towels for everyone. Washer and dryer available. It’s a little on the older side and the floors kind of creek but it was a great stay. Thank you Mike.

Huge House!!
Our high school basketball team and coaches stayed there this weekend. The house was great with lots of room for them to spread out. For us, the location was not ideal and parking became an issue. The owner was great and super flexible and easy to work with.

Nicely renovated home great for gatherings
Owner has done a lovely job renovating this downtown Tacoma home. Attractive kitchen & baths & tons of bedrooms. Neighborhood is a bit rough, but super convenient to Tacoma General Hospital & Tacoma's downtown attractions. Mike responded very quickly to answer questions we had.

Diamond in the Rough
We had originally planned for 13 adults and 5 children, but ended up with 11 adults and 1 child. We had room to spare! And that one lonely child cried fiercely when we checked out because she loved being in the big house with her parents and all of her aunts and uncles. We miss the Yakima House.
Mike has done a great job updating this home and making it homey. We used all four floors - of you include the laundry room in the basement- during our week-long stay for a family wedding in Tacoma. We had so much space and were so conveniently located, the groomsmen and groom ended up getting ready at the house with a couple of the bridesmaids taking over the attic/3rd floor. Even when the house was full, it still felt like it took take in more.
Having three FULL baths was a pleasant surprise and all three were put to good use. Mike had over a dozen towels stocked for us along with multiple rolls of toilet tissue in each restroom. The house was large enough that we found ourselves all spread out one evening with the our single child watching a movie in the living room, the ladies downstairs in the dining room and kitchen hanging out, the men holding a PS3 tournament in the second floor lounge/living room area, and a small group playing dominoes in the 3rd floor lounge area. Also, Mike has the kitchen well stocked with plenty of dishes, pots and pans. I have to say that the kitchen size, appliances, and equipment were probably my favorite part of the house!
The location downtown was central, close to freeway entrances, the reception venue, tons of museums, fun food spots, and family. Though the house does not have central air conditioning, it does have a central fan and a plethora of fans all throughout the house which we took advantage of.
Mike, the owner, is very helpful and responsive He got back to us promptly and kindly -- even came up to the house to help us fix something. He's done a wonderful job with this beautiful, old, fun home! Thank you for everything, Mike! Our Tacoma family is hoping to rent out your home for future family events! We'll send them your way when that comes to fruition. God bless you!

Our Girl Scout Troop had a great experience staying at this VRBO. There was room for everyone, the bathrooms were updated, everything was clean, and the owner was always available if we had any questions.

Spacious, comfortable older home!
This house was plenty big enough for the 13 members of our family who stay there, and we had a whole floor to spare. The house is older, but it was well-kept up and nicely remodeled. There are definitely some homeless folks nearby, but the area stayed pretty quiet and we weren’t bothered by anyone. It was a great location to catch the bus to Seattle or walk around downtown Tacoma. We had a great time!

Room for all of us! Close to our events and fun activities downtown!
We loved having enough rooms for our family to stay together for a wedding we were in town for! It was updated nicely, clean, beautiful, very nice quality furniture, and well stocked. The house had multiple living room type spaces (3!- one on each floor) for the kids to have downtime activities. The spacious bedrooms were so quiet and allowed for kids naps or those that like to sleep in to not be woken up by those in the living room and kitchen. It is very close to everything we wanted to do downtown, including a short walk to the children's museum. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely do it again!

fabulous place for a big group
We had 16 adults and 3 babies! Not only were there enough bedrooms for the group, but the main floor living space was set up so that there could be two different group activities going on without disturbing each other. With cable TV available NHL hockey playoffs were watched by our hockey fans: a great bonus! Good WiFi too. Lots of seating space and kitchen facilities big enough to serve this large group! Those that wanted to sleep-in in the morning were able to...there are so many more pluses to this home, too many to list.

Perfect for a big group
My son got married over the weekend. We housed 16 people very comfortably in this house. Everyone was very happy with their accommodations. Plenty of private and public space.
