About this bed and breakfast
Welcome to our North Asheville FROG! The space is bright and airy, and you will want to extend your stay in our cozy neighborhood. Located just 1.6 miles north of downtown, you are a short drive/lyft/bike ride into town or West Asheville! Or if you want to stay north you are within walking distance to local eateries, one of Asheville's staple breweries, grocery stores, drug stores, parks, and the university! The FROG is perfect for a long weekend, or an extended stay of several months!
The FROG is located on the second floor, with a private entrance, accessible through an outdoor stairway. You will have the entire guest suite to yourself with a keyless entry so you can come and go as you please. The space is bright and modern with some mid-century charm. You will be welcomed into the FROG with a bright, airy, open space that includes the living room, dining area and kitchen. The living room has a comfy couch that can be used for sleeping a third person and a large smart-TV (which includes Netflix). We provide a blue tooth soundbar speaker so you can play your tunes while getting ready for a big night out. The fully equipped kitchen has a refrigerator (with ice maker), dishwasher, microwave, farmhouse sink with garbage disposal, gas range, coffee maker and includes cookware and utensils if you want to prepare and enjoy a meal in. We’ve designed the kitchen with beautiful quartz countertops and a large peninsula that serves as a breakfast bar. We've installed beautiful hardwood floors throughout the apartment that are made from reclaimed barn wood. The bedroom has an amazingly comfortable queen size bed, a dresser and a large walk-in closet to store your clothes during your stay. We have equipped the FROG with it’s own tankless water heater so you can enjoy long, hot showers in your own full sized bathroom. While we do have private WiFi available to all guests, we do not have cable TV. You will also have access to a full size washer and dryer.
The FROG is 100% solar powered! We also have an electric vehicle (EV) outlet for guests of the FROG. It is a NEMA 14-50 outlet that is a 50 Amp 240 Volt at the parking spot dedicated to the FROG - this allows your EV to be fully charged overnight during your stay - and it’s solar powered!

We just dropped our son off at UNC-A. Matt’s place was cute, clean, comfortable and convenient to UNC-A, coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores and downtown. Our dog enjoyed the walks. Thanks for the helpful binder with tips!

We really enjoyed our stay at the FROG! It had everything we needed, and Matt was very helpful with suggestions, both verbally and in his very detailed and helpful manual.
The place was very clean and fresh smelling upon arrival with fresh flowers on the table, and a variety 4 pack of been in the fridge to quench our thirst after a long day of travel. It was wonderful that it was dog friendly so we could bring our 2 fur babies with us as well. The location was perfect for us, being in between the city and some friends that we visited during out stay. Also use of the laundry facilities was very helpful after being caught in some rainy weather.
We would definitely recommend this quaint place to others and would stay there again.

We came up for a night and wanted to be in a quiet but close location to downtown. Matt the owner greeted us and was very welcoming. The unit was better than advertised- bed was super comfy, wonderfully decorated, all upgraded appliances, and great AC that worked really well- and although we didn’t bring our pups this time, dog friendly as well. We will be back!!. Thank you.

My husband and I and our dog had a wonderful stay in this quiet and very sweet part of Asheville. We really appreciated the effort put in by our host to make the FROG a special place to stay.

SORRY THIS IS A LONG READ, I SWEAR IT’S WORTH IT! It was difficult to find the property, as the houses are very close together, the streets in the neighborhood are narrow and there are cars parked along one side (NOT GREAT FOR WALKING YOUR DOG, thought the listing states it’s pet friendly). I thought I wasn’t going to make it through at spots, but I do have a wide car. I could not find a street number on the house, which is what led me to call the property manager/owner(?), Matt.
He was confused, because it showed that I had booked the house for Monday night (2/20). It was Sunday night (2/19) and I discovered that in my tired state the night before, I booked the room for the wrong night (wanted Sunday, made a mistake and booked for Monday). I immediately asked him if I could cancel, as I was not going to be in Asheville another night. Matt stated I had to cancel through VRBO. I tried as I was on the phone with him and realized that since I was so close to the booked date of 2/20, I could not cancel through the site. I asked him if there was a way for him to cancel it on his end, which is where things got interesting.
He stated he could not cancel on his end and I had to cancel through VRBO. When I stated that was not possible because I had booked the night before (Sat, 2/19), he answered, “Well, you can stay tomorrow night!”
I was only going to be in town that night, so it was completely useless to me. I asked for a good faith return of the money he was making on me that night. He refused, AS IS HIS RIGHT! I made the tired mistake of booking the wrong date. Even though I had literally booked it the night before, TECHNICALLY someone “could have” found his house super late on Sat night or sometime that Sunday during the day and wanted to book for that one night on Monday (though the odds are slim to none).
I told him the honorable thing to do would be to refund my money (minus all the VRBO fees, of course) via PayPal/Venmo/etc. or at the VERY LEAST at refund the $20 pet fee (which is a separate charge that he requested that can be reversed by the host, as I’ve had it done before). I also stated that if he would not at least refund me the $20, he should not expect a positive review. He tried to play the victim, saying someone else could have rented and that his hands were tied. That I would have to make a report through VRBO and “see if they would refund me,” well, they didn’t, so here’s my review. If you want his bad juju stay here!

We were in the process of closing on our home in Asheville and needed a place to stay with our two miniature dachshunds until everything was finalized. The Frog was EXACTLY what we needed. We were not exactly free to roam about town as our dogs are rescues and don’t deal well with separation just yet. But the Frog is located in a quaint historic neighborhood near many restaurants that are walkable. When we weren’t dealing with real estate stuff we took advantage of the lovely area with the dogs in tow. But the place itself is in such a serene spot we enjoyed so much of the time just relaxing there. The bed was phenomenal. We slept so well we bought the same exact kind for our new house. The kitchen was well outfitted and all the furniture was extremely comfortable.

Property had all of the essentials plus a few thoughtful perks such as recommendations and local beer in the fridge. Location was convenient to downtown and the Biltmore yet located in a quiet neighborhood. Dog friendly!

Matt is a great host, and the apartment was very comfortable for two adults and two fluffy dogs. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and has a friendly and creative vibe. Very dog-friendly. Walking distance to several restaurants on Merrimon, and a short drive to many more. We had a terrific time exploring Asheville -- thanks Matt!

All went smoothly from start to finish. Matt has built a beautiful space at the FROG, equipped with everything I needed during my 1 week stay. The neighborhood is very pretty too, with many lovely gardens. Would recommend and would stay again!

The Frog Rocks!
My wife and I stayed at the Frog and thoroughly enjoyed it. Matt is a gracious host who helped us find a great paddle boarding spot. He was friendly and chill, which made us feel good about coming and going. The Frog is a garage apartment of sorts located toward the back of the property in a pretty little neighborhood. All things downtown Asheville are 5 minutes away. The Frog itself is thoughtfully decorated and has a great layout for any length of stay. We'd totally stay here again. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The FROG! It had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. Matt and Cassie were great hosts and even provided some of their favorite local beers! The FROG is 10 minutes from downtown in a quaint neighborhood. All of the neighbors were super friendly as well! We highly recommend The FROG for your next visit to Asheville!

Best Vrbo!!
Matt gave easy to follow directions to reach his property without confusion. The Frog was exactly as it is shown in the listing. It’s very clean and you are welcomed by a lovely smell coming from a defuser from a local NC shop. Matt left a handwritten note welcoming us and even put some of his favorite local brews in fridge. I was so excited when I first walked in I had to explore immediately to look at all the attention to detail that was put into creating this awesome space. The neighborhood was very quiet(even on NYE)! The bed was super comfortable as well. Our dog felt right at home too. She immediately got comfortable and took a long nap. I would give The Frog 10 stars if it were an option! We will definitely be back!

Perfection
We absolutely loved our stay at the FROG. It is fabulous. Great neighborhood. Close enough to walk to local restaurants and shops, very easy drive to all that Asheville has to offer. But tucked back in an established quiet neighborhood. We even saw a flock of wild turkey grazing in the yard. The owner is on site if you need anything. Every detail was thoughtful and perfect. Automatic lights as you walk up, separate private entry, dedicated parking spot, well appointed property, and a welcome book for guests filled with excellent recommendations for nearby and must see locations (even marked by pet friendliness). We definitely want to go back and would stay at FROG. Have already recommended to friends. Just can't say enough great things about this truly special place. The owner and property are perfect.

You won't find a better place!
A well decorated, cozy apartment that's in a great location! If you're looking for a night in, you'll feel right at home with a comfy couch and smart tv. If you're looking for a night out, you're just a few minutes drive from downtown! They also accommodated my dog which is always a plus. The hosts were very responsive to messages, and made the overall experience a very positive one! I definitely plan on staying again!

Perfect long weekend getaway
The FROG was perfect in every way! My husband and I came for a work conference at the GPI and we decided to stay off property. The location of the FROG was perfect, close enough to easily get over to Grove Park but away from it enough to easily hop downtown during our off time. The home was clean , super comfy, and had all the necessities. We will definitely stay here again on any return trips to Asheville.

Outstanding Accommodations
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the FROG! The newly renovated state of this cute 1-BR apt did not seem as obvious from the photos, but it was really clean and spacious for the 2 of us. Lots of great touches, like a coffee maker with coffee, a large walk-in closet with lots of hangers, and a smart TV. Matt was super nice and provided some yummy snacks, a few local brews, and a binder full of excellent recommendations. Additionally, the neighborhood is adorable with fantastic views if you walk 15-20 mins to the top of the hill. We were in town for a conference at the Omni Grove Park Inn, which we thought would be in walking distance. We probably could have walked, but it would have taken about 30 mins and we were cherishing sleep so we chose to drive instead and park at the Inn. But the walk would have been beautiful. I also ran along Merrimon road two mornings and found it to be nicely challenging with hills, but not impossible. We highly, highly recommend the FROG!
