The staff displayed a welcoming attitude and attentiveness towards my requests. The property itself is a traditional Japanese-style house equipped with kitchen facilities. While it carries the charm of an older structure, my stay was undeniably comfortable.
It's a bit of a distance from the city, but if you're traveling by car, it's convenient for any nighttime needs.

the hosts were nice, kitchen was well equipped.
overall you get what you pay for which is a bed for the night. We don’t have high expectations so it was okay for us.
I didn’t like that I had to ask for sheets.
someone was watching tv loudly in the room next door during the day as well as very early in the morning.
everything could’ve been a bit tidier but it was clean enough.

I like the fact I could cook to prepare food, access to washing facilities and was able to dry in the garage.
The owner should not judge but allow water to flow.

beautiful house
toilet slightly smelly

Bright lights at night helped us to identify the property.
Heating didn't work well, water was very cold (winter). Was quite difficult to locate the hostel too. Host was neither friendly nor hostile. Really for those who had to cancel their plans last minute and find a quick solution to the sudden change in accommodations.

- Many bikes that we could use for free

Being able to check in from noon was very good. The shower was nice and I was thankful for it on such a hot humid day.
There was no air conditioning in my room. Admittedly, I should've read the room description more carefully. I think the website should make this fact clearer for people who wish to stay during the summer. I honestly feel there are health risks especially for those not in top condition. Even with a fan I couldn't sleep. Only the communal kitchen had air conditioning but it was full of cigarette smoke.
The pictures on the website look nice, but the interior is shabby and the filth under my bed was really bad. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a very long time.
Upon arrival it took a while for anyone to come to the entrance despite me calling out several times. I suppose there is only one person running the hostel? The staff (?) seemed surprised to have a guest and his explanation of the facilities was too minimal. I don't know if he was actually staff, tbh.

The price is cheap so you get what you pay for. Great if you're just looking for a place to sleep
We stayed in the room that was probably the engawa/mini patio. It was right next to the living room and separated by a thin wall, which was fine, until you hear the TV from 6am in the morning.

It's a lukewarm house with a lukewarm owner.
Little guidance and owner seemed to have attitude and the room had no air conditioner. It was very cold at night. The owner doesn't keep an eye on the online booking. I arrived around 10:00 pm but there was no one in the hotel. I had to wait and make calls that didn't go through.

Lovely location, very quite though hard to access. The best place to know more about rural Japanese culture and have the image of a typical countryside traditional house. The host gave us all freedom to use his kitchen and bathroom so we felt like home. If you come by car, fast food "Joyfull is almost around the corner, and in Oki town more traditional restaurants.
The host seems not to care too much about cleanliness of the house (it is a pity coz it would be a pearl!) , so we found dust boxes full of trash. Also the bedding seems to be strange, because the host does not use sheets. The mattresses (futons) were a bit thin. You you renovate t a bit the house and put more efforts to clean all, it would be the greatest adventure for those foreigners who want to meet Japanese tradition.
