Cottage is great place to stay.

We booked this place last April in anticipation of a hot Florida August and weren't disappointed in either the cool mountain temps or the the unit. The unit, which is on the top floor of a duplex, is spacious, with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room and even a laundry room with a washing machine. Other amenities include satellite TV with access to your favorite streaming apps. The unit is conveniently located on the edge of downtown Highlands and a stone's throw from the Bascom art museum. A full service grocery store is 2 minutes away. Because of its relative centrality, being at the junction of Routes 106 and 64, this location gives you access to a number of beautiful hiking trails within just a 10 mile radius. If you're tired from hiking or need some "me" time, chill out on the deck and watch the hummingbirds. Our host Ali was very responsive to our needs and helped make this a very enjoyable stay.

We have been with VRBO since getting our cabin 18+ years ago. Came to Highlands for a family gathering and due to our place being rented we had to find accommodations. We had a wonderful stay. The place was clean, convenient, well stocked, and as presented. Greatly appreciated!

My wife and I had a 4 night stay at the cottage in early August. The place is really nice and quaint. Plenty of room for the two of us and could easily accommodate 4. Check in was easy. Didn't need to communicate during our stay. Location is a short distance to downtown Highlands. I know others have mentioned it, but not sure I would walk it given lack of sidewalks for part of the way on an especially curvy road but it's an easy 2 minute drive. We didn't use anything in the kitchen other than the coffee maker but looked to be nicely stocked and functional. Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our time here.

Very clean property. It was great. Bed was very comfortable. Very close to town.
All was great. It’s an old building that needs a really good air purifier. Other than that it’s great.

My only complaint is that even though it was clean, it seemed like there was still a lot of pet dander that bothered me. I took Claritin. Hopefully the cleaners can move on that feedback.
Everything else was awesome! I was able to walk to town, Bascom, smokehouse, Davis wines, mill creek trails, etc. the sidewalk picks up at Bascom, so you’re walking on the side of the road for a couple minutes. No big deal for me, but others may not like it. Would absolutely stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Gem of a find so close to downtown for a great price. Check in and out was seamless, and we had everything we could have needed at the apartment. The owner was great with communication. Not sure if it was due to a storm before we got there or not but the WiFi was down. I notified the owner just so he was aware, and he had a crew out there within a few hours to fix the cables that were down. Cozy apartment, and we will be back!

Our stay was cozy and comfortable - the house was nicely appointed with everything we needed. It was nice to spend time together sitting in front of the fire at ‘home’ and we were located right in town, which was so convenient! I would highly recommend!

We stay at this property every time we visit the Highlands!!! This was the first time we stayed in the upstairs home, and we thought it was as wonderful as the downstairs. The property has everything we need and more and we just feel good as soon as we arrive.

We enjoyed our visit here. Very clean and quiet. The drawers and cabinets in the kitchen were labeled making it easy to find what we needed. Close to town. We were less than 5 minutes from my sister who was staying in the RV park in town.

I took my elderly Mother and her 2 older sisters to enjoy a fall weekend in the mountains. The property was just as described and was very comfortable for 4 adults. It was very clean and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. But if you have elderly people traveling with you, you may want to consider renting the bottom unit. I underestimated how difficult the stairs would be on a 77, 82 and 84 year old. I would definitely stay there again.

Cottage was clean, driveway was steep, getting out of driveway was a problem at times, other than that, it was clean, and that was the main thing which was important to us, one thing though, would have been nice if property manager would have contacted us to see how we were doing, or just to say hi, I did though see a gentleman, and we did say hello to one. another

We had a great stay. The price and location close to the middle of town were ideal. Four of us stayed there comfortably before heading to our friends wedding.

My wife and I visit the mountain communities of North Carolina annually. This rental met our needs for one week. It was well equipped and nicely furnished. I liked the rugs and art. It was close to downtown. It was as represented and the price was competitive. We had an encounter with a bear and a cub on our walk to town because the young men staying across the street left the full garbage cans out overnight. That property is not of the standard of the town.

Clean. Close to town. Not walkable. Quirky furnishings. Weird and large dump of trash next to house.

Property is very clean and close to town….just a two minute car ride. (Wouldn’t recommend walking since the main road is very busy and there are no sidewalks in that area). Being pet friendly was a big plus for us. Owner is very quick to respond to any questions. My sister and I really enjoyed our stay.

Overall, it's a nice place. It's a little dark inside, but it's amongst trees so that's to be expected. Fantastic mattresses on the beds, I'm not kidding. I slept great here and so did my guest! And it's very clean, lots and lots of towels and even shampoo and conditioner. My only gotcha is that it was a little tricky to find from the main road, which is full of twists and turns. We drove past 3 times until we figured out that there are two address number signs, and they share a common driveway. After that, it's easy breezy. I texted the owner to ask where the hair dryer was, on a Sunday morning, and he answered promptly. Great service.

We have stayed in the studio downstairs many times and love it. This was the first time we stayed upstairs because the studio was unavailable. It was just perfect and terrific! Ali thinks of everything to make one feel at home. It’s why we keep going back! The location couldn’t be better, the deck outside is great for morning coffee and/or cocktails and the fireplace makes the place perfectly cozy. Great to know we now have another spot Ali owns in which to stay. VERY highly recommend it!

This cozy cabin is located on the road that goes right downtown. This was our first trip to Highlands so we had no idea what to expect. We were looking for something with more space than a hotel room that was budget friendly. The cabin was very clean and provided everything we needed for a long weekend. We prepared breakfast every morning and kitchen was well equipped. We didn't have a nice view from our deck but for the price we couldn't expect more. I did enjoy sitting outside for a bit one afternoon. As shown in the picture, the bathroom was very small but it worked for my husband and myself and was nice and clean. The windows were new and kept the road noise out. The mattresses were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels and washcloths. I did have to ask the owner how to enter the apartment but he quickly responded and we didn't have any trouble. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants a little more space than a hotel room for a very economical price.

We have rented the downstair unit many times for me and my wife but wanted to bring our daughters this time. This was perfect for our needs and also gave our grown children a little more privacy. I cannot say enough good things about this property, and it is always topping the list when visiting the area!

Ali is a great host. We had trouble with the internet due to the ‘holiday storm of 2022’, and he came over to check it out and contacted the company within 30 minutes of me texting him. It wasn’t his fault of course, but he did everything he could. Eventually the weather got better and the internet came back on. Ali even helped as much as he could to get our daughter’s suitcase delivered (it had been left in Seattle). So I hate to give good reviews because that means other people will book the place, but we’ve stayed both up and downstairs, and both places are vey comfy.
