About this cottage rental
The cottage at 5 North Street was originally built in the middle of the 19th century by quarrymen from the local quarries using Purbeck stone. Used as a holiday home for several decades by previous owners, it has been modernised and updated by the present owners while retaining many of its original features. It has been available as a self-catering holiday let since 2003, and is very popular with guests, many of whom return on an annual basis. Prices quoted are for weekly rentals. The cottage is also let for shorter periods from October to April - please contact the owner direct for prices and availability. Maximum occupancy is five for three adults and two children under the age of sixteen (or vice versa).
The village of Langton Matravers is within a conservation area and much of the surrounding countryside is classified as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is within walking distance of Dancing Ledge one of the features of the Dorset & East Devon Coast, England's first natural site to receive World Heritage Status. The cottage has been refurbished to a high standard and provides a comfortable, relaxing holiday home. An electric immersion heater heats the water and central heating is provided by night storage heaters.
The accommodation comprises:
Ground Floor: Sitting room with colour TV, DVD and CD player; separate dining room; fitted kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave oven; utility lobby with automatic top loading washing machine; bathroom and WC comprising bath with electric shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail.

The cottage is clean, cosy, and well-equipped with excellent communication from the owners. Great location and comfortable stay.

Overall very good, but kitchen missing a few things we expected (chopping boards & slotted spoon.) The kitchen is small, so sharing the cooking is tricky! Also stairs to bedrooms would be difficult for less able people, especially with bathroom/toilet downstairs. However, it suited us fine.

Peaceful stay in quiet cottage close to Swanage, Jurassic coast
Lovely old cottage in the village of Langton Matravers, a couple of miles from Swanage, close to Dancing Ledge and coastal path. Lots to do nearby! Cottage was very clean and equipped with everything we needed for a week's peace hiking. Village is very quiet. There's a pub that serves food and more restaurants/ takeaways and shops down in Swanage.

Family holiday, October half term.
Communication with owners was perfect - friendly, helpful & quick to reply. Cottage is in a quiet spot and a good base to explore from, whether that be a walk from the door, by car or using the excellent no.40 bus service linking Swanage to Poole, with a bus stop just a minute’s walk from the cottage.. The cottage was very clean, is full of character, very well equipped and everything worked well, including the WiFi. Thanks for helping make our holiday so enjoyable and we would recommend this cottage without hesitation.

Very cosy and well equipped. There were only 3 of us so plenty of room. Excellent bus service to Swanage, Wareham, Poole and Bournemouth. Did not need to use car at all.

Comfortable cottage in an enchanting location
A pretty character cottage with generous sized bedrooms. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. The patio is sheltered and private, the garden is shared. Located in beautiful rolling countryside a short scenic drive to several beautiful beaches. Ian and Ann were superb hosts and we hope to return.

Perfect ‘walk in, walk out’ location
Delightful cottage, full of character, beautifully decorated and furnished. An idyllic ‘walk in, walk out’ location for coastal walks and other walks in the Purbeck hills. Also ideally located for Swanage, the RSPB reserve at Arne, Studland, Wareham and Brownsea Island. I could go on....

Lovely property and well located
We enjoyed our stay here very much. The property was a good size for us and located in a quiet cul de sac. We had use of the garden at the front and a small patio area at the back. The cottage was within easy reach of Swanage and other places to visit and also a good starting point for walks. Liaison with the owners was very straightforward and they were very helpful, taking into account all the issues concerning the virus. The property was spotless when we arrived and had all we needed. Well recommended.

Fantastic week in a beautiful cottage
We really enjoyed our week in Langton Matravers. The cottage is full of character but has the mod cons you need for your holiday including a modern kitchen and bathroom. The location is superb with access to the sea at Dancing Ledge a mile away across the fields. There is so much to do and see on the Isle of Purbeck too, we loved Corfe Castle and Studland in particular and tried sea kayaking and coasteering, both of which were great experiences.

Lovely stay in this charming cottage
We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Ian and Ann’s charming, well equipped and well proportioned cottage. The surrounding area is fantastic with loads to do come rain or shine. The front garden catches the sun all day while the rear courtyard is a nice private spot to sit. The cottage is very well equipped but you’ll need to bring all essentials (salt, oil, washing powder etc) for self-catering.
Thanks for a lovely holiday and for being great hosts.

A lovely cottage in a very special region of the UK!
We had a wonderful stay in the beautiful cottage in Langton Matravers. The little stone house is restaurated in a very nice way, everthing is clean and very neat. Ann and Garret are very friedly and helpful. Also in advance the preparation of the journey was excellent. They even sent us a printed map to find the house. We loved the position of the house. Langton Matravers is a small village, everything what is necessary is in walking distance: The big football field (very important for the boys), the small shop, the pub and several very nice walks. The surrounding is great! You find great walks, the lovely castle of Corfe, great pubs and tea-rooms! You see a lot of sheep, cows, some horses and everywhere you hear and then find pheasants.Thank you very much!

Quiet location for exploring the Isle of Purbeck
The cottage is warm, comfortable. Good sized beds/rooms and has all the basics you need.
We visited Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door, Tyneham, Kimmeridge, Kingston Lacy, Swyre Head, Swanage, Durlston etc .... You can walk to Dancing Ledge almost straight across the road from the house, through Tom's field. Kids loved it.

Lovely cottage a d village, well situated
Charming 3 bed cottage in a news type drive. Modern bathroom with small but we'll fitted kitchen and a cosy lounge. Good walks nearby with Swanage in walking distance. One pub in the village but spoilt for choice of others nearby. The dancing ledge walk from the cottage to the coast is well worth the walk, This was the first time we stayed in Swanage and proberly won't be the last.

Really neat, cosy cottage
Small but sweet stone cottage in a terrace. Perfectly clean and tidy. Warm and cosy. We were party of two adults, two teens so each child had their own bedroom with double bed which they liked. Contained everything we needed including wi-fi that took quite a strain from laptops, iphones, etc. Our aim was to walk every day and it had good access to coastal path, about a mile away down public footpaths. Plenty of nice pubs/eateries in nearby villages and towns - good meals at Scott Arms at Kingston, tea room in Worth Matravers and coffee in Cornish Bakery in Swanage.

A Dorset delight!
Langton Matravers is the perfect location to visit Swanage and the beautiful surrounding area. The Cottage is beautifully presented, warm, cosy and has everything you need to enjoy your stay, very clean and tidy. You can also park your car directly outside the cottage. We walked to the Kings Arms in the village one evening for some lovely pub grub, good size portions and also to the Scott Arms at Kingston which is well worth a visit.
We visited Corfe castle, Brownsea island, Lulworth Cove and Durdle door, Kimmeridge (great for fossil hunting!) and the NT property Kingston Lacey. There are lots of beautiful walks, including Studland to Harry's Rock.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the girls loved the loft room and we all enjoyed relaxing in a very welcoming holiday home. We would definitely return to this cottage again. Thank you 🙂
