About this house rental
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Our bright, quirky, spacious two bedroom flat with roof terrace is in an amazing location with many major London sites (Tate Modern, Southbank, Borough Market, London Eye, St Paul's) within a short walk. For those who want to be in the middle of everything with easy access to the airports. Two bedrooms with a comfy corner sofa bed in the living room (**warning: our living room has a large atrium in ceiling so prepare to wake with the sun!). V. suitable for families. Our home is an awesome, spacious, airy, bright friendly London flat, with private roof terrace, WIFI, TV (Netflix and 100s of channels), dishwasher, washer, dryer and amenities. This is a perfect home-from-home. As you can see from the pictures, it's a large, beautiful 2-bedroom apartment very close to the Tate Modern. In the midst of all the arts and culture of the Southbank. You will not find anywhere closer to the middle of the Culture Mile than this flat! 2 Double beds, plus 1 corner sofa bed, Bath, shower, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, hobs, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer. Secure entry. Fitted Wardrobe in bedroom. Set over three floors. Maximum of six persons. Our home is for those who like being in the middle of things - this isn't a quiet country lane, this is the centre of London with people, culture, excitement, noises, and bright lights. It can be busy outside but the windows are sound insulated and most guests are surprised by how quiet the apartment is. If you're not used to living in a city centre you may want ear plugs. There are many hotels nearby, so there's plenty of footfall. At the weekends there is live jazz in the bar a few doors down. On a summer night you can dine on the private roof terrace and enjoy the jazz and the sounds of London - especially good if you have kids asleep downstairs and can't stay out late!

The house is three minutes walk distance from the closest underground station “Southwark”, and many bus stops are located within 5 min walk. The place made us feel like at home, and the host was always helpfull.
4.0 / 10.0
1) There was a great deal of cracked and flaking paint present that cast an air of dinginess upon entering the property which never let up.
2) The towels were of very poor quality and the shower offered insufficient water delivery.
3) The overall level of value was lacking. For measurably less money my friend and I could have each booked a room at the hotel around the corner and we each could have had a better room and better shower. (We stayed there a total of six nights prior to our stay here.)
4) Except for the excellent and desirable location, it would be difficult to recommend these accommodations to anyone I know traveling to London.

The flat was perfect for our family of four. It was centrally located and close to the tube. My youngest enjoyed the toys and games. We made good use of the washer and dryer and the rooftop access. And the WiFi was fast and easy to access.
One small thing to note is that you can hear the tube go by but we used a sound machine at night and it didn’t bother us.

Host was extremely helpful and communicative! We loved the flat and would definitely come back. It has everything we needed and tiny convenience store around the corner as well as restaurants nearby. There was plenty of room for our whole family and great location.

Close to several tube stations, taxis are abundant, and walking to Borough market, local groceries, and other local spots is reasonable. Standard walk up to first floor beds and second floor kitchen. fantastic value for money. Immediately responsive to how to get in, even when i already had instructions, washer and dryer were very helpful. overall a recommended location, especially for the price. pub next door, and restaurants all around. Even a few kids toys to keep younger ones busy for a few minutes. You'd have to be pretty particular to find flaws with this inexpensive accessible location.

This flat is in a vibrant location with great proximity to everything you could want for a stay in London, whether walking or using the tube/trains. You do need to be a little careful of the sets of stairs...steep.

The appartment is well located and could be really nice with a bit of maintenance.
We were disappointed by the shower that leaks, some broken furniture and the fact that heating system stops at night so we were really cold.
Otherwise, the view is nice, beds were good, and every kitchen equipment worked.

It was in a perfect location. 2 minute walk to the tube, couple minutes walk to Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge, St Pauls, etc.
Had a great time.

We (family of 4, 2 children 6 and 8) stayed here for 6 nights. We were 5 minutes from the Southwark tube station, and a 20 minute walk to the London Eye/Big Ben. There were several convenience stores in the area for items to keep in the rental. There were also various pubs and restaurants within a 3 minute walk and directly across the street as well.
The games and living room available here made an incredible difference over other rentals and hotels. Our kids went straight to the puzzles and it was the perfect place for down time in between stops around the city.

Ruth was great to engage with, very helpful. Apartment very well located near shops and pubs, close to a tube station which made the trip really easy to enjoy.

The owner told us there would be parking across the street from the vrbo. The closest parking is 15 minutes away. The unit was not cleaned before our stay so there were used towels, sheets and dishes to wash before we could use them and there was garbage everywhere. Even if it had been cleaned the unit is fithy. Stains on the walls, carpeting and couch. Then while we were packing to leave the cleaner barged in an hour early and made herself a coffee, cigarette in hand and insisted on starting to clean. WE WEREN'T EVEN OUT THE DOOR YET, WE PAID FOR THAT TIME!

With apologies to Ruth, this place is kind of a dump. There are two large holes in the wall in the entryway. The walls are scuffed up. The carpet is dirty. The dresser in one of the bedrooms was missing the front of the drawer, which was stacked in the corner of the room (along with some rolled up rugs), while the fan in the other bedroom was missing the front grill. The grout has fallen out of much of the bathroom tiles bathroom tiles and there’s lime buildup around the kitchen sink in the shower plumbing. The sofa had black cat hair on it and one of the bedrooms smells like an animal has been living in it. My daughter is allergic to cats and had a serious reaction the first night so she had to take antihistamines for the rest of our stay. Some if the dishes were dirty. There were also no instructions at all, including how to light the burners on the stove since the igniter doesn’t work (we finally found some matches in a cabinet). Overall, the place is poorly maintained, smells like an animal lived there, and needs to be fixed up and cleaned well. Very disappointing.

We had the best stay at this apartment in the Southwark area of London. It was not only a great space that allowed for our small family to spread out, but it also had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We also totally fell in love with the area. There were lots of great restaurants, pubs, and cafes all within walking distance. It was in an area where you could get away from the touristy sites, yet they were all just a super easy walk or tube ride away. We enjoyed our stay so much that we had hoped this apartment was available when we came back through London on our travels. Ruth was prompt and kind and wonderful to talk to and made the whole process super easy. We will definitely look forward to staying here again!

GREAT ACCOMMODATION IN AN EXCELLENT POSITION
We have just returned from a long weekend staying in this super little house right in the middle of London. Although the decor is a tad tired and would benefit from a refresh the position of the accommodation is perfect for anyone wishing to walk to a whole host of attractions in the centre of the city. Waterloo station is a few minutes walk, as is the Imperial War Museum and Tate Modern. London Bridge, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Westminster, The London Eye, The Mall, The Strand, The national Gallery, etc, etc; they are all well within walking distance. The house is right in the heart of Southwark, with its busy street life. The atmosphere is excellent and, to cap it all, there is a superb cafe around the back called "Over the Road" that does a brilliant breakfast! The accommodation is great, providing comfortable sleeping for 6, a well equipped kitchen, with microwave, conventional oven, kettle, dishwasher and washing machine, cutlery and crockery etc and there are plenty of books and board games if that's your bag, not to mention a large TV. Wifi is fast and the bathroom comes well equipped. Access to the building was very easy and communications with the owner were prompt and clear. The heating for both the accommodation and water was easy to control and the house was very cosy and comfortable at night time. Due to the time of year (December) we didn't make use of the roof terrace except to have a quick look but what an excellent place to enjoy a G&T on a warm evening; far removed from the hustle and bustle of the streets below. We had a great time and will most definitely stay there again if it's available the next time we are staying in London for a few days. I recommend it most highly.

Family Holiday In London
We thought the property met expectations, it does need a refresh at some point, the washer was not operating which was an economic inconvenience as we had to take our laundry to have it done.

Great location for sightseeing
Right in the heart of a thriving area, this flat is perfect for the sightseeing tourist who doesn’t mind the bustle, noise and smells of the city. I don’t, and we enjoyed our stay. The main living area is open plan and gets lots of light. The lower bathroom has a musty smell which is typical of windowless spaces, and could do with some minor maintenance. We had a lot of trouble trying to turn off the bath tap, which we were forced to leave slightly ‘on’ after trying everything we could. Again, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise good experience, but hopefully will be taken care of by the host. I wouldn’t describe it as luxurious, but if convenience, location and value for money are your primary goals, this flat is perfect.

Great city location
We were in London for 3 days in early July. This property worked well for me, my husband and our 18 year old daughter. It's only 1 block from the Southwark underground station which is on the Jubilee line. Two stops and you're at Westminster Abbey. A short walk and your at Tower Bridge. The property was beautiful and bright - big windows and skylight. We sat on the rooftop deck and enjoyed a couple of beers every night after doing the 'tourist' thing. Great restaurants nearby. The property is near a train but i have to say that - in the bedrooms at least - it did not bother us at all. I'd stay here again on my next trip.

London VRBO
We loved this stay. The location is great for using public transportation or walking to different places! Ruth is very kind and easy to work with. The area is vibrant and fun, which can get a little noisy at night but nothing too bad.

Quaint, clean, unique 2-storey walk-up with 2 double beds, pull-out couch and well-equipped kitchen.
Loved this two-storey walk-up with 2 bedrooms and bath on 1st floor, well-equipped kitchen and living-room on 2nd floor, and steep steps up to rooftop patio. A great place for families with young children who will love the selection of toys and books. Couch needs a cleaning and lacks a duvet. Otherwise, a lovely place to relax while still enjoying bustling London right outside your windows. The nearby train is a nice touch but doesn't affect your sleep. Bathroom was modern and kitchen had a washer and dryer, as well as fridge and stove - a great plus if you need to do a load of laundry while cooking dinner. Two sets of house keys were also a nice touch. The shops in the lively courtyard at the back all shut down at 10pm, allowing little ones to sleep soundly. I would definitely stay here again!
