Town Barton was exactly what we were looking for, the views of Dartmoor were spectacular and the quiet countryside makes you forget all your troubles. Perfect location for exploring Dartmoor and the surrounding areas.
Sally and James were amazing hosts and made us feel completely welcomed. From meeting us at arrival to give us a tour of the house, to checking in to make sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The farm fresh eggs provided were a lovely addition to this amazing house.

A beautiful house in a beautiful position.
The hosts were welcoming and the homemade cake on arrival was delicious, thank you. The first part of our stay was during a heatwave so we didn’t wander too far from the stunning garden and shady outdoor eating area, other than to Manaton show. Highly recommend this gem of a property.

Wonderful property in an fantastic location.
We were 2 families with teens - and 2 dogs. Lovely welcome and plenty of lovely extras which I included a beautiful home made cake!
Perfect for all of us - room for the teens to do their thing and adults theirs!
Plenty walks on the doorstep and the local pub within 10 min walk had lovely food and the landlord was so friendly and couldn’t do enough to accommodate - we went to the local weekly quiz and had a great night.
The owners were so helpful - we did have an issue but it was resolved immediately and we were treated to a last night BBQ on top of a hill ! A big hill - what a wonderful end to a lovely week.
Ideal for dogs too - even our springer could roam freely in the garden and not escape.
Highly recommended. And a hot tub ! What more could you ask for !?

perfect escape
We all loved this house, which is well laid out and equipped for a family get together and very spacious. It's a great combination of a traditional, big house and modern fittings - plenty of hot water, great kitchen etc. Walks from the door on to the moor, and wonderful views. Amazing starry skies. We'd love to come back one day.

Great Family Break
We were a group of 6 adults, parents, sons and partners and one grandson.
House is very well equipped and spacious and feels like home. Lots of downstairs space and comfortable bedrooms plus 3 well appointed bathrooms. Great country garden with hot tub and very good undercover outside dining.
Manaton is quiet and rural which was what we were after. Once you have the hang of the roads it is easy to get around, but you will need to be ready to use passing spaces. There are good local pubs for lunch and evening meals.
All in all we had a really good family time together and would thoroughly recommend.

Just back from a week in this beautiful property. James met us on arrival & told us all the basics we needed to know. The children were straight in the hot tub, which was ready & waiting to be used!
The kitchen is fully equipped & easily big enough to cook for 8 people. We were touched & grateful for the homemade cake, eggs & bacon/sausages which were left for us. These were eaten very quickly & were delicious!
The weather wasn’t on our side (good old British summertime) however we still managed to get out & about most days. The property is remote & a car is essential if you want to do more than walking on the moors. Lanes can be narrow in places however it’s easy to use the A roads to get around (even if takes about longer).
We travelled to Plymouth, Holywell Bay (Surf Club) Torquay, Paignton (quay west water park) & Bideford (Ultimate Adventure park) as-well as Dartmoor Prison Museum.
The house itself is very well kept & it was easy to communicate with Janes & Sally for any minor issues we encountered.
There is zero phone reception so having WiFi was a must, especially with teenagers!! Having Sky TV was an added bonus.
I’d recommend this property & would like to thanks James & Sally for hosting us.

Great property in the heart of Dartmoor
Lovely property, owners Sally and James could not have made us feel more welcome. Great walks / runs and access to Dartmoor from straight out of the property or by car if you want to go further a field.
The house itself is clean and comfortable with plenty of room for all nine of us to congregate either in the kitchen or in the outside covered dinning area. Spacious enough to accommodate us and the dogs - all in all a lovely week and I hope we can return soon!

Lovely, well equipped house
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely property. The owners had thoughtfully provided a fabulous cake, home made bread and breakfast goods. There were flowers throughout the house and everything was well appointed.

Family sized property on the eastern side of Dartmoor
Town Barton is located on Manton’s village green and is within an easy drive from
Bovey Tracey, Parke and Becky Falls.
The house is comfortable with a large kitchen, lounge and 4 bedrooms (2 en-suite and a family bathroom).
The welcome pack of bacon and sausages were a treat and the home made scones,
clotted cream and jam yummy!
Sal takes a huge amount of pride in her garden and it is beautiful - however if you own dogs who look for shade when it’s hot, then this may not be ideal as the plants are pretty rather than hardy (huge apologies for one mishap during our stay).
Finally, the hot tub is an excellent addition!

Beautiful!
We loved our week staying at Town Barton! Great location in the moor, with gorgeous walks and views. We spent most our time in the garden under the veranda having bbqs. The house is stunning and is fully equipped with everything you need. The hosts were ever so welcoming and accommodating! Amazing holiday, definitely recommended!

Lovely home
House was well equipped, very homely and comfortable with lovely gardens. James, Sally and family were very welcoming and helpful, always available while also respectful of our privacy. Children had a great time around the horses, and with the table tennis and hot tub. Lots of lovely walks around Manaton and surrounding areas, and good selection of shops for food and supplies in Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead. We very much hope to visit again sometime.

Relaxing setting
Fabulous property with lots of space for our group of all ages. Lovely relaxing setting James and Sally were very welcoming and helpful. All our group loved feeding the sheep, horses and collecting the eggs. Fab welcome pack to get you started. Car needed to get about but some lovely areas not far away.

Beautiful house in a gorgeous setting.
We had a lovely time in this house. We loved the spacious country house feel of it and the main kitchen/breakfast room was gorgeous. We spent loads of time in the beautiful garden appreciating the view of the sheep, horses and countryside beyond. The kids loved the hottub (and the smart TV!) and actually fed the sheep and met the horses. James, Sally and family were pleasant hosts and were always around with advice on where to go however they gave us our privacy. It's a very isolated spot but this worked in its favour for us and it was nice that people were never very far away if we needed them. The lovely welcome goodies (meat and eggs from the farm and a yummy home made lemon iced cake) were most welcome and we bought various bits from local houses with honesty boxes and lovely farm shops. We were always out and about with the dog and the kids to the moor, wild swimming on various walks and to very local Becky Falls. We really managed to relax and unwind during our stay here and would definitely come again. We liked the hosts relaxed approach however to give constructive feedback a little bit more instruction on what to do on entrance and exit as well as any useful info on the house and local areas would probably go down well. Thanks for a lovely stay!
