Wonderful clean property 7-8 min drive from Gonzaga. Older charming home with basement, main floor bedroom and lots of room upstairs. Plan to rent from them again! Only slight downside is that it needs some grass and bit of curb appeal in front or back.

Comfortable and quiet neighborhood
4.0 / 5.0
Place was clean, hard to keep cool though and with a larger family hot water ran out really quick. Be aware if you are tall or big people. Beds were ok. Ours squeaked the whole time but it was acceptable. But location was great, and would stay again.

Neat conveniently located to both downtown and the valley.

The house is great! It was very well stocked for a big family. They had a pack and play, a baby booster, baby gates, extra table and chairs, etc. Jeff, the property manager was extremely communicative and got back to us if there was anything else we needed like more towels or paper towels, hand soap, etc. The neighborhood felt nice and safe and quiet. We enjoyed our stay!

We came to town for a few days of work and the house was a great and affordable alternative to a hotel. Charming neighborhood, and Jeff was super helpful and responsive throughout our stay.

We stayed for two nights. The property was clean and easy to access. Owner is very responsive.
4.0 / 5.0
The house was very clean. The only reason it was not perfect was 2 reasons. There was not enough large bath towels for everyone in the house. And the beds were very squeaky. The mattresses were comfortable but the frame would squeak with every movement.

We chose a VRBO because we had a couple players staying with us and our player, and needed the room. It was so nice to have a full kitchen and multiple bathrooms with so many teenagers. The girls enjoyed the video games in the basement. The home was clean with plenty of space. The kitchen could use more utensils, and possibly a bit newer ones as well and the beds were pretty squeaky. The house was great and we would definitely stay again.

There's nothing terribly wrong with this place. It's in an excellent location, walking distance to Perry Street. The property management company is really communicative and helpful. The entry to the place is simple. There's plenty of parking.
It's a very typical VRBO with very few supplies in the kitchen or bath. Not complaining ... just is what it is. There's AMPLE sleeping space, but if you come with a big crowd, it is two bathrooms. The edges/corners on some of the ceilings are sharp and low. One in our party stood up too fast, hit his head on the ceiling corner, and ended up in er with staples. That wasn't the property's fault -- but just look around when you decide where you're sleeping.
Our only complaints:
Grill out back was small and gross ... we had to heat it up for a while to clean it.
Need more chairs. If you sleep 10, then the table and chairs should seat that many as well.
It isn't obvious why this place cannot have pets. There's a huge hard, hardwood floors throughout, and very basic things inside (not anything to ruin).

The bunk beds bedroom did not have a door only a curtain.
It was close to town but it is lightly furnished. The closets up stairs have a very short ceiling; the strait way to basement bedroom was steep and did not have a railing.

Disappointing
Booked this home for a few days while I’m Spokane, when I got there it was 40 degrees outside and 43 degrees inside. I adjusted the thermostat and the heat didn’t come on. The heat didn’t turn on for about half an hour, once it did turn on it only stayed on for about 15 min at a time.
I reached out to the home owner and he said he was reaching out to the maintenance and would get back to me.
I never heard back.
The house finally warmed up around 2 am (I turned the heat on at 3:50pm). There were two space heaters in the house I tried to use but ended up blowing a fuse upstairs so i just had to bundle up till it warmed up.
The beds were rock hard, sheets had brown stains all over, and there was what looks like chunks of dirt and mouse droppings in the upstairs bathroom fan.
Beyond that there was a mouse sighting downstairs and sticky traps under the couch along with a spare sock.
The house wasn’t bad, the updates were nice… if I would have walked into a warm house or one that warmed up quickly or had a comfortable bed to sleep in this might have been a different story.
I have alerted the owners to all of these issues and I hope they address them for future guests.

Family gathering for a funeral
The house was perfect for our four families (10 people)
to gather for a funeral. The house was very clean, beds comfortable, full kitchen, large refrigerator and a lot of room in the living area. The neighborhood was quiet. We were close to town and the church. The owner is very responsive and helpful. We were very pleased with the experience and would stay there again.
Thank you.

The Perfect Craftsman for Both Small and Large Gatherings
Beautifully updated and appointed residence that felt like a home away from home...gathering spaces and alone-time spaces. The two roomy bathrooms were appointed with fresh, generously sized linens as well as full-sized toiletries. So very nice for those who traveled via air travel from afar. The laundry facilities were excellent. Again generously stocked. All of the sleeping spaces were fresh and uncluttered. Generous closet spaces. The kitchen had everything you could ask for. Add to all of that a communicative, yet unobtrusive owner and you have a recipe for a perfect stay. The pictures on the website are truly representative of the home.

Amazing for a girls weekend!
We had such a great time and felt at home. It was great to have AC in the summer heat, there was room for 14 girls, even all getting ready to go out to dinner. We even had 2 girls who were expecting and annoyed the bunk beds. Highly recommend and will look for this place for another weekend away!

Comfortable Stay
Checkout process was smooth, and all the details were given before time. The place was as described in the listing, and everything was in place for us. We liked the neighbourhood as well, as it was pretty quiet and just a short distance from essentials in the town.

Nice, clean house
The house was clean, nicely renovated and with lots of comfortable beds. We enjoyed the board games for the kids and watching the olympics on the TV at night. The kitchen had what we needed, the owner communicated so well by checking in. We didn’t need anything, but it would’ve been easy to reach out. Great house for families.

Plumbing Issues Etc.
We were in Spokane for a big family wedding. We had two families staying in the house. The house was centrally located with lots of beds, and that was a definite plus.
However, we were hamstrung by plumbing issues. We only had one working shower. The property management sent a plumber the first night. But, he didn't fix the problem. The faucet still shot off wall every time, you turned on the shower. It was unusable. I sent a video to the property manager the next day, and he never responded back. I have to say having two families trying to get ready for a wedding with only one working shower was quite a feat.
The yard, etc was unusable. It was just dirt and weeds. It's not a great space for outdoor hangouts. This house is not really a hangout spot. It's good for bodies in beds if both showers are working.

Reunion weekend
Great house for our friends and us to make "home base" for a Spokane reunion. Location was good. House was comfortable. Amenities were good overall. No dish towels in kitchen. No door to the bunk bed room. House was super hot at check-in which required several hours to cool the house down. Would definitely stay here again with those things in mind.

Good location, loved the property even with a few issues
We really liked the location of this property. It was large enough for our group of 8. It was clean and furnished/ decorated nicely. Had problems with plumbing that were mostly addressed...could not use lights in kitchen due to them being full of water. Some confusion as to who to contact with issues. Would suggest dish towels and spatula for the kitchen and nightstands for bedrooms, maybe dressers. Futon in basement is not good for sitting or sleeping, very uncomfortable. Bunk room is tiny and a curtain is the "door" - this was not an issue but the photos and description don't provide this information. The lighting at the top of stairwell to top floor could use some improvement. Even with all of these "issues" we really liked the property and would stay there again.

Great overall stay. House looked to be recently updated on the main and top floor. Kitchen has everything we needed and was open to the living room. Couch is a lot bigger than it looks like in the pictures.Basement was a great space too, just note the stairs down were exposed wood. Totally sturdy just threw us the first time going down there.Really close to the city and freeway.Driveway is a little uneven and we bottomed out our van a few times driving up. There is a lower driveway that is flat. Not a huge deal just good to note.Communication with manager was hit and miss. Got the auto messages they have set up just fine (welcome, hows your stay, etc.) But when I had some questions their replies never came through. Grab their phone number as that seemed to work well.

Great place to stay!
My family has stayed at Modern House a few times now and we enjoyed each one of our stays. We have to travel to Spokane regularly for medical reasons for our daughter and we are glad we found Jeff's houses to stay in. They are always clean and ready. Jeff even put up a Christmas tree which we thought was very nice. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, paper towel, dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, dish soap and everything needed to be able to prepare meals which is especially important because we mostly stay in, thanks to Covid. There are two showers which is great because my daughter's appointments are always at 7 a.m. so we can all get showered quickly and out the door. The beds are comfy and the neighborhood is quiet. We haven't had any problems in any of our stays at Modern House. Thank you Jeff!

Good
It’s clean everything you need space wise a spacious back yard. couple hints I would add one cleaning spray for a just in case clean up extra dish sponges extra garbage bags had a nice Christmas tree I have toddlers instead of hooks I would suggest using string to hang the decorative spheres. Also placing a small office space with a desk computer and printer in the basement has plenty of empty space. Last, I would place a laminated note by the showers letting guests know you pull out the faucet to turn on water. another set of pots at Ross or big lots a set of nonstick pots and pans is about $20 a good investment for the owner, but overall has everything you need very nice clean kitchen, has a basement with a tv and a spacious room. Good, quiet, spacious, nice place to stay

Perfect location!
If your in town for medical needs you won’t find a more convenient place. My son and I stayed for a week and never even needed to use the freeway. All the restaurants, the shopping, everything is so close by. The house itself is wonderful. Very clean very comfortable. Felt like we were home.

Great House for Large Group
Property is great for a large group. Easy check in and check out. We had one issue but the owner responded immediately. Since we were leaving that morning it really did not affect us, great location for visiting our relatives on the south hill in Spokane. Would stay here again.

A Respite for Weary Travelers
Close to Sacred Heart Hospital, easy access to grocery store and ample room for guests are the elements that we most appreciated. We were there for heart surgery and we all felt this place helped immensely in giving us needed respite in a very stressful week. Jeff is a helpful and compassionate owner. He has flipped an older home and added details that modernize and streamline the space. It is clean with new appliances, surprisingly roomy, and located in a quiet older neighborhood that is close to Wisconsin Burgers, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and walkable distance to the hospital. Every review contains what could be improved. Perhaps, adding one more comfy chair in living room area would be helpful to guests with reading lamp; adding a taller shelf with more shelves in bathroom upstairs would accommodate more guests. A safety mat for shower/bath upstairs is needed. A clothes rack in the bedroom w/o a desk would be easier than getting into the small recessed closet. Move the current shelf in upstairs bathroom closer to tub area. The outside entry needs more lighting for those parking in driveway. This is for safety so no one will stumble and fall. All easy and inexpensive additions to do. This is a relatively new flipped house. It will only improve in Jeff’s hands. For us and our family, it was a great choice and we all felt at home. Thank you, Jeff, for all that you did for us.

Bigger than you think
We came for a wedding over the weekend. The house was clean and bigger than you think. There were 8 adults staying in the house and we all had plenty of room. We were able to fix breakfast and eat together and we were in our desired neighborhood (the Perry District is not far away and has excellent restaurants). We would definitely stay there again.

Very clean & well kept place with lots o sleeping rooms!
We rented this clean, spacious house for our grandsons wedding. There were 8 of us 6 from California & 2 of us from Seattle. What a great alternative to separate hotel rooms. We got to enjoy each other’s company & hang out together. This place was sparkling clean from top to bottom. Only downside is there’s no cable tv so bring a hdmi cable & device to hook up to the tv & watch tv with your cable company app. There is Prime Video or Netflix on the tv in the living room if you have a subscription to sing in. Very close to downtown! Definitely would stay here again and I highly recommend it!!!

Very nice home for large parties.
Very well stocked home, toiletries, coffee, creamer, laundry accessories. Very nice roomie home. Housed our very large party of 10+ very comfortably. Management was amazing!!! There was a huge snow storm and they had the driveway completely shoveled out by hand for my elderly parents, also dropped off space heaters for our comfort. Can't say enough good things about our experience! Will definitely stay again.
