Wasaga Beach Attractions
The small community of Wasaga Beach along the Nottawasaga Bay in the Georgian Bay, 1.5 hours north of Toronto, is known largely for its spectacular shoreline. Dubbed the longest freshwater beach in the world, the sands are credited to Ice Age glaciers that melted, leaving an astounding 14 km (9 mi) shoreline. In 1934, Wasaga Beach was made famous when the first Canadian overseas flight took off from its sandy runway. The relatively quiet community sheds its reputation during the summer as visitors flock in search of fun, sun and sand. Winter blanket of snow is welcomed by cross country skiers and snowmobile enthusiasts. As well, the shoulder seasons of spring and summer provide visitors with tranquil stargazing moments, serene beach walks and off-season value on accommodations. When in the area, a trip to the Nancy Island Historic Site is worthwhile. This island located on Nottawasaga River was amazingly formed by the silt deposits of the sunken Schooner Nancy, a British supply ship in the War of 1812.

We had a fantastic stay at this holiday home! The location is perfect—situated in a great area and just a short walk to the beach. The house itself is comfortable, well-equipped with all the amenities you could need, and felt like a true home away from home. Patricia was incredibly welcoming and always quick to respond to any of our questions. Highly recommended!

Very clean! Beds are comfy and all amenities are great. Love the shower in the master! Quick walk down to the beach, ice cream shop and convenience store/gas station. Great location and you can hear Georgian Bay from the deck if it is wavy. Patricia was a fabulous host and was flexible with our checkout. Bring some backyard games with you, the yard is big enough to play badminton, bocce, croquet, etc. We will be back! Thank you very much, Patricia!

Pro: The location is amazing, a few minutes walk to the beach and a short drive from stores and restaurants in case you need anything. The house is newly renovated and looks good with a nice layout. Patricia is quick to answer any inquires via the app.
Con: I’m not sure if it’s because we were in the peak season so there wasn’t enough time between bookings but it wasn’t as clean as I would have expected (the floors needed a sweep when we arrived - there was hair in the washroom and sand still in the main areas). Other reviews have mentioned that it was super clean so I’m sure this was just an off day. :)
Recommendations: It would be nice if they had self check-in (ex: we were ready to check-out at 9AM but had to wait for the owners arrival at the predetermined time of 10AM).
All-in-all, I would return and recommend this cottage! Thank you Patricia!
