This is a beautiful home with a lanai you never want to leave. Central to everything. The property is clean and well maintained. Also, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and all the usual items. You can’t go wrong choosing this property.

We loved this house. It was in a great location. 1/2 hour from airport and all major shopping. Close to small town shopping. There was plenty of room for me and my husband and our 3 grown children and significant others. As in previous reviews, it could only be made better by the addition of air-conditioning. Specifically in the garage apartment. It was just too hot. The house does have some wear and tear. But typical of a house on the ocean. We played in the pool every night under the stars. The Milk-Way sat above us. It was the perfect temperature and so magical. There were sea turtles outside the front and even some of the most magnificent rainbows ever seen. A very special trip.

It was a beautiful and comfortable home with all the amenities we are used to. The lanai and backyard were absolutely out favorite place to spend time! Great location. Great pool (not heated, but ok in December) and outdoor space. Lots of space inside with comfortable furniture. Sea breezes and fans counteract lack of a/c, although space above garage gets a little warm (even in December). The pool looks very new. The rest of the house is clean and tidy, although the wear and tear of the marine environment is evident in places. We had a great time!

It is always easy working with Garden Island Rentals. The Kukuiula Kai was a perfect spot for our group of senior families celebrating spring break. Our two families staying at the house loved getting up every morning sitting on the lanai and drinking our coffee. We saw dolphins, whales, and even a monk seal. Such a relaxing and beautiful location. We will definitely be back.

An amazing location in a quiet (other than the roosters!), location away from the bustle of tourists. A wonderful walk to Spouting Horn or the Botanical Gardens or along the path to a close-by shopping area. House was perfect for a large family with great ventilation and lots of room to spread out. Towels and linens were wonderful, garden and pool were lovely and well maintained. House needs some maintenance and being right on the water really takes a toll on things. But rental company very responsive to get things resolved. My only suggestion would be for longer term rentals to include cleaning once weekly in contract.

But what distinguishes this one is the expansive lanai with comfy furniture overlooking the stunning ocean and shaded from the sun. In other words, it is a place you can adore without ever leaving home. And during our early December stay, we saw both t e sunrise and the sunset. Stunning!

45 days on island, only two days of rain. We have been coming to Poipu for 25 years and have stayed many homes along the south coast, the last three years at Kukui'ula Kai. We love the property, amenities and location. Single story, on the water, private pool, lush grounds and sideyards, Hawaiian plantation style furnishings. Relaxing, healing and comfortable.

The house was a vacation in itself. We enjoyed the sound of the crashing waves, swimming in the pool, and walking to the little beach at the end of the street where the locals launched their boats. It was close enough to the Napaali coast and to the Waimea Canyon.

There were three couples and a single in our group, all adults. We all liked the main house very much but the room above the garage was not good. The toilet ran constantly and leaked so you had to physically turn it on and off before using it. There was a note taped to the lid of the toilet saying this, and also that someone would be by to fix it on Monday (we arrived on Friday). The shower was tiny and not very nice. The oven timer came on every morning at 5:00 am and there was absolutely no way to turn it off (all of us tried to figure it out). But the worst part was that nobody came to fix any of the problems, nor would take our calls or call us back, or even return an email! We vacationed there the first week of December and have been trying to contact them since to no avail. We were hoping to receive a little of the $11,000 we paid them back for the inconveniences. We Still haven’t been able to contact anyone. I didn’t want to leave a bad review but that’s the choice they’ve left us. There are many nice properties around there so had we known we’d have these issues, we’d definitely have taken a different one. But if you aren’t going to need the room over the garage, the house was very nice - as long as you don’t need to contact anyone. Hope this review helps others.

We crossed our fingers & during the stay - the work noise never got too bad but 8 am coffee outside to view/listen to the ocean was met with (unexpected) clanging & banging. The other item that I missed when booking was lack of a/c in the house. Very minimal improvements would make this a 5 STAR - small a/c units for each bedroom, fresh batch of crisp cotton linens, pillows, mattresses, dishes and clean lamp shades (much needed a deep clean along with the window shutters). The mgmt company left a welcome card at entry, but didnt email or text once during our stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property!
Our family of 5, (kids 6,10, and 12) thoroughly enjoyed this property. The location is wonderful, super quiet and peaceful but very close to town and all the restaurants/beaches. The beach/boat dock 2 houses down is also super fun and a nice swimming spot without many tourists. House was super clean and well appointed. Great kitchen. Pool is deep for little kids. It goes from 3-5 feet, but the 3 feet section is very small so our youngest needed a float of some kind. Turtles surf the waves in front of the house, and the ocean crashing begets the best sleep of your life. The only drawback was no A/C. When we arrived and realized the house had no A/C my husband panicked! We had a Maui vacation without A/C that was brutal. In the end, when all the windows are open, this house stays really pleasant. Lots of fans and cross breezes. We stayed at the end of July and we were never overly hot. We loved this house, think it was a good value for the location and quality of the property, and we can't wait to stay there again.

The Property is great and location excellent. Unfortunately the house needs some TLC. The sheets and beach towels are old and tread bare. Every dinner plate had a chip in it. While the house was clean, it needed a more through clean, as things like the shutters and lamp shades were pretty grimey and dirty. Would recommend the property, but it could be so much better if some of these minor things were attended to.

Great but needs a refresh
Great home, but needs some tlc. Sheets and towels for example very old and tired. Too much polyester!!! We asked for more beach towels, as they were dreadful and thread bare, and only 8. It meant that if you swam at the house and then wanted to go to the beach, you had to take wet towels, as there were no spares. When we asked for more we were told to wash them!!! All the dinner plates had chips in them. Superficially clean but blinds and lamp shades for example were filthy. Sorry am fussy, but overall it lets a great place down.
Excellent location and overall, if they gave it a super clean and updated some things, I would recommend it as a great place to stay.

Oceanfront Paradise!
We stayed here with three couples and several children under 3 years old. The ocean view from the house was amazing to wake up to every morning, the large Lanai perfect for letting the little ones roam free up above the pool level. And the beach which is basically across the street was fantastic to have so nearby! Overall a fantastic house with lots of room to spread out. All the possible amenities one could want in the kitchen as well. We would love to come back and stay again.

Our family enjoyed this home and location immensely. We would love to return one day. Our one issue was that the kitchen freezer wasn't working most of our stay and we didn't know there was a problem with it until we arrived from the airport with groceries in hand. The new refrigerator arrived late on day 4 of our vacation and took a few days to work properly. We were disappointed that the management company never told us there was a freezer in the garage we could use when we arrived. Separate from having no working freezer until our last day, we would highly recommend the house.
