About this bed and breakfast
Meet the Prince B&B. This is a self catering B&B houseboat. Location and luxury are what we think of when we see this gorgeous houseboat, located on the famous Prinsengracht, near to the Anne Frank house. It's a stylish and comfortable floating residence in the center of the Jordaan area. Decorated with taste and attention by a professional interior designer. The Prince Royal is the place to be for an unique nautical experience in downtown Amsterdam. You have a direct view on the Prinsengracht and the landmark Westerchurch. The living area is bright and shining, spacious, comfortable and light. The characteristic wooden floor in combination with design furniture gives this area a luxury own identity. There are 2 characteristic bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms in the back and front of the ship. The bedrooms are a little lower but that is part of the history and charm of this houseboat. Both the bedrooms have two big double beds with two separate mattresses next to each other (160cm and 180 cm X 200cm), both with a flat screen TV. Romantic and comfortable! The owner, who resides on the boat, values to her privacy and makes sure that your privacy is fully experienced.
Both bathrooms have a towel radiator and under the floor heating. The bright and shining bathrooms offers both a modern sink and shower. Bedlinen and towels are provided.
The outside deck
At the outside point of this former freight ship is a nice terrace with a unique view along the canal. You will find a lovely large terrace, with chairs, cushions and plants. Because it’s wintertime we are not able to make pictures yet, we have to wait until spring. White swans will pass by together with the canal boats. At the other side of the canal you see the Anne Frank house and the famous Westerchurch. A video has been made from the surroundings last year: You are in the middle of historic Amsterdam but because of the water and the impressive historic canal houses around you the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful.
The wheelhouse however offers you the best and most exclusive possibility to enjoy the spectacular surrounding of this houseboat. The wheelhouse is reachable from the inside and is higher than the rest of the boat. In this former Captain’s area is a luxury place to sit and enjoy for instance a glass of the free wine from the bar with wine fridge!

The boat is perfectly located in the Jordaan with both indoor and outdoor seating areas to enjoy the view along the canal. The boat was clean and had everything we needed. The beds and sitting area were very comfortable. The hosts were very communicative leading up to the stay and check in was a breeze. Our family of four couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our time in Amsterdam. Thank you for a fantastic experience!

The boat is amazing and styled impeccably, a clean canvas allowing voyagers the opportunity to fill their experiences with the colors of the city. Each room is special, providing exactly what you need.
The captain's room where you can close the world off or let the world in but you can always hear and see the blur and heart of the city around you.
The front deck allows you to literally greet the world as people from allover the little blue marble float by for a minute or two. Each living their own Adventure.
Inside, you physically enter backwards leaving the stress at the door. The heart of the ship is open and inviting, a blank canvas for you to decorate with all the things the city and life have to offer. From bottles of wine to greasy takeaway boxes the place is what you make it. I recommend taking photos at the beginning but also take a few during the stay. A cheese board, good bread and a peach can be the most important still life you'll ever see and will mean the world when you look back at the image and remember the time, the people and most importantly the bread!
Each bedroom is a cocoon, the pillow fort from your childhood that you sometimes forget but bang your head just once and you'll literally feel like a little kid again crawling around, and hopefully over, your fellow travelers.
I left an Adventure Starter Pack consisting of an old back pack, umbrella, and a maroon corduroy blazer and vest to help start your story off right.
Safe travels,
Brewster

We stayed on board the Prince Royal with friends. We all enjoyed separate space (2 separate bedroom/bathroom spaces) but a large living room and kitchen to share some good times. Although our weather was a little cooler than we had planned, we also enjoyed the deck area.

We loved this stay! Such a fun and vibrant location! The houseboat was immaculate and had everything we needed. The “Captain’s Nest” was an unexpected bonus and we used it daily. So fun to watch the crowds waiting for their boat tours and the other various boats go by. Very comfortable beds, too.

Chamelli was an excellent host. She helped us prior to our visit and met us at the boat at the agreed upon time to review everything with us. She provided a nice bottle of wine for our stay. The accommodations were exactly the experience we were looking for. 2 separate suites for our family. You do get to see alot of canal traffic during the day, but it is quiet in the evening. The main kitchen/sitting area was comfortable for us to congregate. I had stayed in a canal house on a previous experience so this was different and very enjoyable. Won’t find many locations on the canal as good!

The property was exactly as advertised. There were ladders and low ceilings but nothing to impact our stay. We were 3 sisters over 60 and had no problems. The location was great. The beds were comfortable. The property was clean and it was very quiet at night. I would definitely stay here again. The top room was our favorite place to hang out.

Fantastic stay right in the centre of Amsterdam…beautiful houseboat with everything you could need … I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else!

I wish we were shown the entryway as it made loading and unloading of luggage difficult.
We did not like that the heat was turned to 20 when the boat keeper was there. We were from a warmer climate and it was difficult to keep warm enough until we put it to 22.
Also there was a leak in the smaller bedroom. It has been there for a while as the comforter had stained in the spot.

The living area and the beds were great and comfortable however beds were only suited for 2 couples really
They were originally described as queen beds which could configured separately or as one bed - in fact they were two single beds in a frame sitting together together - space between them was not possible. More clarity over this would have been very helpful in our decision making as three single ladies.

This houseboat experience was phenomenal. It was very clean and well kept. The bathrooms were modern. The floor plan is excellent. It is well lit and has plenty of plug ins. It is the best location in the heart of the canal ring to see the sights and get around. The Ann Frank house is directly across the canal from the boat and we sat on the deck enjoying the view and watching the people enjoying themselves on shore and in the canal boats that passed by. I sat in the captain’s room upstairs enjoying peace and quiet. The wi-fi worked seamlessly. The tv connected to most channels and we especially enjoyed Netflix and CNN. However, there were drawbacks you need to be aware of. You cannot stand in one of the two bedrooms so you have to bend over the time you are not in the bed. Also, access to the boat is via a narrow stairway of about 8 steps going down from street level to the living area. If you can get past these two drawbacks, the rest of the experience is fabulous.

We had an amazing time, the boat was clean, decorated with great attention to detail and comfort. The boat is very spacious in a great location but still quiet. The hosts were friendly and responded to our requests very quickly as well as gave great suggestions for restaurants. Highly recommended!

The prince royal was excellent- it is stunningly decorated, has excellent levels of cleanliness and is in the heart of Amsterdam and within walking distance of all the places you would want to visit. The host of the boat was very accommodating, friendly and was exceptionally helpful. The boat is peaceful and offers great views of the city. We slept brilliantly and found the boat comfortable for our stay. We have booked again for next year and can’t wait to return.

Thoroughly loved staying on this immaculate canal boat. It’s in a beautiful location which is close walking distance to grocery stores & attractions. Stayed with my husband & 2 adult children & we all really enjoyed our stay here. Cosy comfortable beds with a large warm living area & kitchen. All beautifully decorated & really clean. Great to have the 2 bathrooms too. Host was great & easy to communicate with.

Our family of 4 had a lovely time on the houseboat which is very well equipped and in a lovely location with lots of small cafes, restaurants etc nearby and opposite Anne Franks house. We spent 4 days here enjoying the views and walked to everything we wanted to see in Amsterdam. The beds were super cosy and warm and the houseboat was well heated which was essential given it was very cold outside when we were there. The ceiling height in the main bedroom is low (you can’t stand upright in the room) but even my 6foot tall husband managed fine- the boat is surprisingly large inside. Sitting in the “turret” watching the world go by with a coffee/wine was a highlight !

It was in a great location. Very clean and well-appointed. The owner was always accessible by phone or text. She was extremely helpful. Description said ceilings were low. The bedroom ceilings were four feet high. You had to bend over to get into the bedrooms and to move around in them. The owner’s description should include that. The description also stated that the owner lived in the host. She does not.

We very much enjoyed the unique experience of staying on the barge. We spent time every afternoon on the deck watching the boats, ducks and swans. One rainy afternoon we gathered in the pilots house. Tiny but so sweet. We loved our stay and would recommend it highly!

We were two retired couples from Canada, staying in Amsterdam for 3 days prior to a cruise. We communicated with our host, Chamelli, from the airport on arrival and she was there to meet us at the houseboat. She gave us a tour of all the facilities and gave us lots of recommendations on what to see and where to eat. The houseboat was well equipped and scrupulously clean. The location was perfect and we so enjoyed sitting on the upper deck, having a glass of wine and watching the traffic on the canal. The bedrooms and washrooms in the bow and stern could be each shut off from the central lounge. The beds and linens were luxurious. If you want luxury with a dose of character this place is for you. We would come back in a heartbeat!

Fabulous
Excellent communication and flexibility with booking process. Fabulous location. Everyone was jealous of our private rooftop deck overlooking Prinsengracht! You won’t be disappointed! Quaint and spacious at the same time, with AC handling the 38 degree heat wave.

All around amazing
If you visit Amsterdam, this is the place you NEED to stay. It’s in the heart of everything and on the canal, can’t beat that. Communication was great. Very clean. Surprisingly spacious. And very memorable. I would stay here again next time in Amsterdam

A Marvelous Choice!
Staying on this houseboat while in Amsterdam was a great choice! The location couldn’t be better, but the accommodations were quite nice. It is a boat, so of course the ceilings are a little lower, and you have to climb up and down stairs to enter and exit. But it is simply wonderful!
Not a negative, but to note… there is a beautiful church across the canal that has a clock with bells that can be loud. It’s part of the charmed but it did wake us up several times.
This place gives an authentic Amsterdam feel. So glad we choose this over a traditional hotel!

Authentic Amsterdam
We loved out stay on the houseboat! It was in such an amazing location that was convenient to everything, great for wandering and people watching. The space itself was beautiful, modern and comfortable. Very well equipped kitchen and lovely areas to spend time in the captain's nest and on the "patio". The beds were super comfortable too. Just be aware that you can't stand upright in the bedrooms, but it was a charming experience.

Great boat in the best location
I rented the boat for myself and my two college age daughter. The location across from the Anne Frank house and in the center of the Jardaan neighborhood was perfect. We had all the best restaurants within steps and could be anywhere in the city within a 20 minute walk

Fantastic Houseboat in the Jordaan
Our stay on the Prince Royal was a treat. The boat was spacious, clean, well appointed and in a wonderful location. If you are tall, then be aware that the height of the bedrooms are rather low, but it is a boat. The convenience of being able to walk to shops, cafes, stores and monuments was excellent. We heard music one day, there was a parade on the canal. My cousin ventured to the terrace & I to the "captain's nest" to watch. The wi-fi worked well. With a fully equipped kitchen, we did have breakfast on the boat twice, but most of our time was out exploring Amsterdam & getting my cousin to try new things. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms on opposite sides of the boat, so whether with friends, alone or with family, you have a degree of privacy. It was safe and on a well lite street & canal. I would definitely recommend staying in a houseboat, and I would enjoy visiting and staying here again.

The boat was in a wonderful, central location. Busy during the day but quiet at night. It was fully equipped with comfortable beds and linen. Kick was charming and most accommodating . Staying on this boat added to our weekend experience. It made us feel a part of Amsterdam.

Fall in Amsterdam
A group of three family members stayed on this beautiful houseboat for 5 days. It is located in the ideal part of Amsterdam, allowing for easy walks to all of the best things to see around the city. The houseboat was equipped with everything you might need, making for a very easy stay. Our hostess, Kick, was absolutely wonderful and ensured that we had everything we needed and understood how all of the appliances, etc. worked. This is so much better than staying at a hotel!
