We like this area, so looked for a house last minute this year. The house was better than the pics! Really neat/fun house…we really enjoyed our stay! The beach is huge and the highlight, with kayaks, umbrellas, tables, etc. Also a great view of the water from the house..and shaded backyard to hangout. Barb very responsive to help! Great family week!

This is our 4th time staying here. It is a wonderful location. There are only 70 steps to the beach. Very private. All you need is provided. When there was an issue it was dealt with promptly. We will be staying there again

Everything about this place is awesome!!! Great yard with a fire pit and large private beach. The cabin is super clean, with nice comfy beds. The kitchen is well stocked. You won’t be disappointed staying here. It was absolutely perfect for our family!!

Another fantastic vacation at a true vintage gem! We loved the superbly stocked house, enjoyed the sipping-hummingbird porch, lazed on the private beach that had great chairs and fun boats to use! The owners of this place have thought of every detail- beach towels, good kitchen stuff, outdoor dog bowls, etc. We cannot wait to spend another week here next summer- it's just a magic place.

Michigan is our go to family vacation spot. Each year we are renting different home in different location and this one did not disappointed.
Fantastic location with beautiful private beach. House is very charming, clean and has plenty of siting areas indoor and outdoor. Several special touches like hummingbird feeders with tons of little visitors, hammock overlooking the Lake Michigan, playhouse for kids, fire pit on the beach and on the backyard, kayaks and more.
We love our stay 😍Everyone was happy didn’t want to go back home. Thank you!

This property is just as described in the listing. It was a perfect house and location for my husband and to spend time with his 3 siblings and spouses. The cabin was very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well supplied. The Lake Michigan view was spectacular and we all took several walks on the beach. It was a treat to stay there.

We loved the cabin -very clean-comfortable-well equipped- nice touches- and the beach was wide and gorgeous to the south for miles.
Please let us know if you add AC and we will come back in the summer sometime.
Thanks for sharing your log cabin !

My 3 siblings and their spouses and my wife and I, ages 60-77 came together to celebrate birthdays, our second year in a row. We love this place! Lots of room for big meals, time around the fire and long walks on the beach. It has everything we need for a late winter get-a-way!
Thanks Barb for all the extra touches. We hope to be back again next year.

Our family of 6 adults and 2 dogs had a lovely 3 days at this spacious, cozy and comfortable retreat. Beautiful views, stargazing and sharing stories, songs and warm drinks in the ample living space. It was great that we had enough room for everyone to have their privacy for sleeping. The kitchen was well stocked, the decor eclectic and thoughtful, the flannel sheets and towels fluffy and new. Barb was an excellent host with good communication. We will certainly be back. Thank you!

Great place to spend a relaxing and cozy fall weekend.

My wife and I have been staying here twice a year for the past 3 years, unintentionally at the same times - late winter/early Spring and late Fall/early winter. This Fall the leaf color was as good as I’ve seen it in years - unparalleled! You’ll love this house as much as we do. It’s fast become a tradition for us to stay here and you’ll see why. The best sunset views, quiet and secluded, lots of beachfront and well appointed. We love the surrounding communities, too. Barb is a pleasure to work with. You won’t be disappointed.

The log home property was perfect for our purposes. Our goal was to relax and celebrate our belated anniversary (with our pups) and this property didn't disappoint.
The view of Lake Michigan was amazing from inside the home, on the covered porch, and from the yard. Each morning we had breakfast on the covered porch, which was a lovely was to start the day even in the rain.
There were neighbors on one side (closer than I'd expected) but we hardly knew they were there. It didn't distract us or our dogs from relaxing and truly enjoying the property. Each day I enjoyed walking the property, taking in the unique architecture, the beautiful gardens, quiet and calming water feature, and local memorabilia throughout the home. It was a great experience, location, and time of year for us to truly relax and unplug.
The log home was well-stocked. I overpack, in preparation for anything and was happy to see there were little things like a can opener, bottle opener, shampoo & conditioner, hair dryer, etc. available.
Barb reached out a few times, not in an intrusive way but simply to check on us and make sure all was well and let us know to reach out if we needed anything. This was welcome and a comfort to know she & Bruce were available if needed. We had a fabulous experience and certainly would consider coming back here again, which says a lot as we've never rented the same place twice (just prefer to experience different areas) along the great lakes.

Loved this property the moment I saw the listing. It’s a property I’d love to own. Barb is awesome. The views are spectacular. Comfortable beds. The cabin is old. Which is part of the charm. But super clean, very cozy, well decorated. Roomy. It’s like stepping back in time. Back yard is awesome. Our dogs loved the yard and the beach! Can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I and our 2 sons and spouses stayed at this charming cottage for our annual family vacation. We could not have asked for a better setting for relaxing and reconnecting. The property was as described and exceeded our expectations for extras like towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, life jackets and the kitchen had everything we needed. The beach was spectacular and we had it to ourselves this time of year. Overall a very nice property for a quiet beach vacation. Would recommend.

My family and dog stayed here for the second year in a row and had a great time again. We enjoyed many hours spent hanging out on the covered back porch with lake view. Many walks down the beach and the sunsets were awesome. Also enjoyed campfires and indoor fireplace. You can walk to the friendly tavern across the street for food and drinks. The local market a few miles away is very convenient. The house is very roomy and had everything we needed. Owner very easy to communicate with. Will definitely be back!

We just returned home from a week’s stay at this beautiful property. This amazing log house and it’s location represents all of the beauty Michigan has to offer. The house was immaculate.
The sunsets right from the backyard are to die for. Every night we made sure we were home to view the sun setting. The beach is perfect. The house is located right on Lake Michigan and the stretch of beach is very quiet. It felt like we had our own private beach the entire week. The house sits on a bluff so there are a lot of steps to get down to the beach, but so worth it!!!
The owner, Barb went above and beyond for us. My 16 month old granddaughter was with us, and Barb made sure she had everything she needed and more!
We have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties and we have never had one that was so well supplied for us. We had firewood for the fire pit, dishwasher and dish detergent, coffee filters, I could go on and on and on.
Barb was an absolute delight to communicate with and responded promptly to any questions we had.
Barb and Bruce thank you, we had the most amazing time!!!

The house had everything we needed. We all loved the front yard, fire pit, the view, and the beach.

Lots of character, thoughtfully appointed, amazing backyard overlooking the lake, with multiple ways to take it in (back porch, hammock, firepit circle, picnic table for meals, and more), and beautiful, unpopulated stretch of beach. Perfect.

We had a wonderful vacation at the log house! The house was well equipped with everything you need for the kitchen, the beach, a great sleep or nap, nights by the fire, grilling, rainy day activities, relaxing walks thru the gardens, and if we had small children, tons of stuff for them to do as well. Great location! You can see feel and hear the beach from inside and outside the house. The steps to the beach were well made. The linens were great. The seating inside and out plentiful and cozy. The kitchen was set up great and the dinnerware, glassware, and kitchen accessories were all useful and of quality. Not to forget to mention the linens. Towels and bedsheets were very nice as well. When we didn't want to cook we ate at red rooster, which is walking distance, and had great tasting meals. Our communication with the owner from beginning to end was very thorough and helpful. We had a great vacation and will be back!!! Thank you Barb and Bruce.

The location is amazing. Amenities are all there and luxurious. Charming interior, we had a great time.

The cabin is perfectly tucked away with privacy, but still with access not too far away for needed amenities. It is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Was very nice staying at the log cabin. Views of the water were great from the backyard and a very quick walk down the stairs to the large beachfront with very soft sand. House was clean and well appointed. Fun game room in the basement and lots of places to sit throughout. Would stay here again. Thanks so much Barb and Bruce!

This, by far, is the best property I've rented through VRBO. Barb, the owner is very quick to respond to any and all questions you may have--before visit and during visit.
This is the best stocked of any rentals I've been in. Ample toliet paper, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, salt, pepper, spices, beach towels, charcoal and lighter fluid, kayaks, life preservers, coffee filters, etc.
This is the second time I've rented from Barb and just booked another week for July 2024.
FIVE STAR REVIEW!!!

Clean, cozy, great interior, along with amazing gardens outside. If you have kids there is plenty of games both upstairs and downstairs. The beach is awesome along with the beautiful sunsets. The host have just about everything you can think of, including a biscuit cookie maker for your fur kids!

We stayed for a week during March for Spring Break to visit with family. The house is very charming and well laid out. There is plenty of room to spend time together in the kitchen, dining, and living room areas. The fireplace is a lovely place to spend time on colder nights and we had a few! I imagine it would still be great for colder summer nights, too.
The lower level bedrooms each have their own bathrooms, there is a main house bathroom near the kitchen, and the two upstairs rooms share a bathroom on the main level. There are plenty of bathrooms even for a group 8 friends to share. There is no bathroom upstairs, and these two rooms are best for children or younger people without mobility issues.
The basement is fully functional with games and lounge areas and can be easily used for lounging and games. It is not weird or musty as many basements are. It also has a full sized washer and dryer which was very helpful.
It was winter so we couldn’t use the beach and don’t know if there are beach towels or beach chairs but we did see outdoor chairs for the fire pit and kayaks on the beach so I assume it would have all of those things to make the beach use very easy and convenient.
Parking is easy for multiple cars. There is an incline to access the front door so I don’t know how suitable this would be for anyone with mobility issues.
If you are a light sleeper I would recommend white noise or ear plugs as it’s a log cabin and very open so noise does travel.
I highly recommend for price, convenience, layout, and comfort and hope to stay again!

The hosts here are very hospitable and want you to have a great stay. They were easy to reach and made sure we had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our time at the cabin and especially the sunset views that you can't miss. While the upper level bridge is unique, I would advise families with younger children to take care.

This is our second time staying at the log house ! After my 30 yr old son passed away in November of 2021 I needed to get away. This was perfect. A uniquely beautiful, peaceful, spacious and welcoming sanctuary. Gorgeous snow covered trees, the sound of waves, sunsets over lake views. We also appreciated the well stocked kitchen, fireplace supplies and comfortable bed. Thank you for sharing this special sanctuary with others.

We had been wanting to rent this property since 2019 but the pandemic got in our way. This was our year and our family gathered for Thanksgiving. It couldn’t have been a more perfect place for us to enjoy the holiday.
Everything from thick flannel sheets and warm cozy blankets on the beds, luxurious white towels, state of the art appliances and coffee maker, the house was so comfortable. There were comfortable chairs for reading, a large table for our Thanksgiving feast and a perfect puzzle table by a window overlooking the lake.
The downstairs has an air hockey table that the youngest member of our family loved. We had a fire in the fireplace which gave our stay added charm although the house was plenty warm without a fire in the fireplace.
The hostess was attentive and kind, not at all intrusive. Barb has earned her premier hostess status. We are very grateful for her hospitality and attention to detail about her guests’ comfort.

The property had so many interesting toys and activities for our young family members. Everything we needed was there and we were very comfortable. I'd love to visit back again in the summer to enjoy the sandy beach with swimming and kayaking. Overall we really loved the place and the owner was excellent!

The Log House was clean, well appointed and absolutely beautiful. We were lucky to have unexpectedly warm weather to enjoy the private, secluded beach in late October. Owners were incredibly accommodating and thoughtful. Look forward to renting again!

We could not have been more pleased with this place! The house was well stocked with toys, games, linens, kitchen items, shampoo, outdoor activities, etc... We really only need to bring clothes. Our kids did not want to leave. Plenty of things to keep everyone entertained. The view was magnificant, overlooking the water and sunset every night. Barb was incredibly helpful with suggestions on what to see or do in the arena. We will definitely be back!

Lovely, spacious, house facing Lake Michigan. My wife, our dogs, and my 91-year-old mother enjoyed our stay. The beach is wonderful; but, with two "ladder-steps" at the bottom, my old lab was not able to make it down. No problem, dogs are allowed on the beach at the state park (a few miles down the road), as long as you don't walk them in the "swim areas". Otherwise, we could not have asked for a better home. Sitting by the fireplace on a windly, cold, and wet night is hard to beat. We hope to visit again!

This is an amazing property with an attentive, cordial host, Barb. We couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. We had the beach to ourselves and my husband, dog and I had great walks on the beach everyday. Barb checked in with us regularly and had maintenance come practically immediately for a very minor issue. We spent much time in the scenic “backyard “, especially the covered porch. There are many separate areas to gather if you have a big group there.
We highly recommend this property!

This is an older house with a lot of character. The steps to the beach are steep and long but the beach is amazing and private. We hope to go here every year! Truly a 1-of-a-kind place.
