We really liked the central location and the fact that the property had a garden (even though it was rather neglected and didn't match the pictures). However there were a lot of problems with the property. Only one of the three bathrooms was fully functional (broken showers, missing showerheads, sinks that wouldn't drain); two of the bedrooms had no curtains so one member of the group had to sleep in the living room; the kitchen was not properly stocked for the number of guests. The dirty linen from the previous guests had been left in the hall and was not collected during the week we stayed. Many of these problems had been noted by previous guests but not addressed. We felt it was a real shame that a property with so much potential to be a great place to stay had been allowed to get into this condition. The pictures on the listing don't give a true image of the property and Vrbo should be aware of this. This property is cheaper than many places in Florence so we did not expect luxury, but even at a slightly lower cost there are basic minimum standards that should be maintained and we would urge the owners/managers to improve the property. Anyone thinking about renting this property should be aware that there are still a lot of problems with it.

The location, within walking distance of the Duomo, Uffizi, Accademia, etc. was great. It was a tad long to SMN train station with luggage, but do-able. The unit was very spacious with four full bedrooms, 3 baths, a large kitchen, dining area and living room. Even a washer and drying building out back along with a nice sitting area in "The Garden".
Some nits: there was no coffee maker and the toaster did not work. Two of the bathroom doors had become saturated and stuck badly. One of the shower doors was missing in the master bath. It would have been nice to have olive oil, salt, pepper and paper towels in the kitchen. The dining table was too wide for the space. Hard to sit at or get by. The unit could use a coat of paint. The garden could benefit from weed removal and shrub trimming. Addressing those would make it a true "luxury" stay.
By the way, strangely, the thermostat needs to be set to "Umbrella" for the hot water to work!
Overall a very nice unit and nice stay.

After months of planning our dream Italian vacation, we were extremely disappointed upon our arrival.
The quality and cleanliness levels were not at the levels you would strive for the cost of this property.
While the listing stated three functioning bathrooms, two of them had outstanding issues. The first bathroom in the entryway flooded with each shower and the water damage on the door indicating this is an ongoing issue. Also, the door to the bathroom was difficult to open and shut with scrapes on flooring because of this. The second bathroom had the same door issue and the shower door was off the tracks and the shower was non-functional.
The garden patio door was broken and made us feel extremely unsafe during our stay.
Lastly, the bedding felt unsanitary with pillows missing pillowcases and cheap sheets that ripped upon making bed.
Overall, we are extremely disappointed with our experience. The quality of the property did not match the listing description nor did the price of the accomodations.
It is surprising that this listing continues to be available as advertised and skeptical about the management company’s standard.
I would highly recommend not booking this property.

This apartment is very run down. Broken doors. Broken dishwasher. Inadequate kitchen. Outdoor space not tended to. Barking dog next door woke us all every morning . We were attacked by biting mosquitoes while inside. Water never got hot. Only lukewarm. Only positives were comfortable beds, nice towels and good location.

Its true: the appartement is well situated, in a quiet neighbourhood, only a few steps away from the market of Sant’Ambrogio and on walking distance of all the treasures of the city. It is also true that the appartement was very clean and that the beds are good.
But: the kitchen equipment is rather poor, we had to buy a coffee can ourselves to be able to make coffee for 6. Some important household appliances are worn out: the dishwasher doesn’t work (which was mentioned already in a other comment, so nothing was done about it); the washing machine situated in a small shed in the garden was covered with dust and cobwebs; the refrigerator doesn’t close completely resulting in a thick layer of ice inside; while attempting to open the door of a shower cabin, it unexpectedly shattered in 1000 pieces. The concierge promised to remove the glass shards but we didn’t see anyone coming. The only reaction was to make us pay for a new shower cabin!
The picture of the garden is really misleading: instead of pots with beautiful plants there are only hugh wild grasses covering everything. It’s pity we can not show a picture with the actual situation.
It is clear that Pilastri Garden had been neglected over the past years. It will need some investments to make it ‘a slice of heaven’ again. And as long as the garden isn’t clean up, the actual picture should be removed.

Things are falling apart, the backyard was in atrocious condition (not to mention mosquitoes everywhere.), very little kitchen supplies (i.e., no paper towels, minimal dishwashing liquid, nothing to clean with or wipe up.) … That being said in the location of a superb but not sure I’d come back to this particular property

There was a few issues: the living room French doors were broke and could not lock. I felt it jeopardized our security. We closed the outside shutters which helped. Our train got delayed and extended time to get taxi so ended up 20 minutes late and was charged the late fee. The place had many bugs and probably needs an exterminator.

This definitely feels business run. There isn’t a binder with local information and when I asked the man who checked us in to send us restaurant suggested he never did. The garden could be beautiful, but it hasn’t been tended to and because of that the mosquitoes run you off. On the positive side the location is good for Florence and our group of 9 fit in. It is a strange layout, but that is the nature of an old building. It was fine, but with a little care and attention it could be much better.

Okay, so; I am going to first begin by saying that there is a review in VRBO that is negative that is so far from the truth. I DID NOT see any roaches or evidence there of! The only thing I saw was a couple ants; but they were from outside because there are no screens on the doors, it opens up to the private courtyard. There is a dog that lives next door that did bark, but that did not bother us. He/she was our unofficial guard dog. As far as mold being in the bathroom, I didn’t see what the previous people saw (so if ut was a mold problem, it was rectified). The only complaint that I have is that there wasn’t enough towels. So, I would suggest maybe including a couple more towels for guests. Also, the door in the sitting room did not lock properly due to the door being broken. We let Viola know, but it didn’t concern us too much, because the courtyard is private, and there was no thought that anyone would come in unexpected. The apartment is in walking distance and central to everything. I promise it seems like everything was a 15 minute walk away. Also, I would suggest that you download Taxi Move to book a taxi around the city (if needed). Everyone was so hospitable and nice. I love Italy and will definitely be returning next summer for two weeks. Although we were there for about a week, it still wasn’t long enough!!

Great location to walk to most sites. The patio was nice to sit out. Comfortably fit six adults. Would recommend to others to stay here.

We checked in to Pilastri gardens at 2pm. Walking around with the concierge and checking everything out it was found that the living room door did not close fully and the back bedroom door was broken so we could not use it. The concierge offered us a number to call a maintenance guy. Still in the unit were the used sheets and towels from the last guests, 2 tall piles of sheets and towels in the dining room. The top sheet on the pile was filthy with either blood or rust. This made the dining room unusable, not a palatable place to serve food.
We were told the sheets would be removed later that day....didn't happen, never happened. Even after multiple conversations.
The 2 back bathrooms are full of mold in the showers.
Youll need to buy mosquito control items for your bedrooms and other rooms. There are mosquitos throughout the property. We have so far found multiple roaches in and around the kitchen area and hallway near the kitchen.
Not that this owner has any power of this next issue...the neighbor next door has a dog which at 5am liked to bark a lot.
Oh, and lastly, if you don't mind the neighbor above throwing dirty liquid into the open garden space, you're in the right place. Hopefully you're not sitting in the outdoor area when it happens.
We've been staying in vrbo properties for over 20 years. Every property has minor issues just like any home, we get.that. This is the first stay where the experience of the property impacted our vacation.

We loved the location and the garden. The apartment is very close to the fabulous Sant’Ambrogio market and easy walking distance to almost everywhere you might want to visit.
The apartment is large, light and comfortable, as are the beds.
The only slight hitch was that we found it a little difficult to work out who we should contact when we had some issues.
We recommend having a folder with information on who to call for what, and some local information.
With Florence being so humid, the owners should consider installing fly screens, as there were a lot of mosquitoes.
The hiccups: inadequate toilet paper, fresh towels should be supplied after three days, the washing machine wasn’t working.
However, as soon as we got the information to the right person, all our issues were addressed.
We highly recommend Pilastri Gardens.

The apartment was in a great location, but it was a little run down. There are lots of great, family- run restaurants with in a block. There is a farmers market right down the street and plenty of coffee and gelato shops. The outdoor space was nice, but the bugs were really bad. The bedding needs replacing and there is a lot of muck in the showers. We were there for 3 weeks, so we started seeing things more than we would have if we had a shorter stay. Also, make sure the price doesn't change from booking to paying!

We stayed for 12 days with our two children and three grandchildren. The location was great, the space worked out very well for us, and it was a bonus having the garden/patio area accessible only to us. We suggested some minor maintenance issues I would resolve at my own house, but none affected our enjoyment of the property. Highly recommended. The overall stay was greatly enhanced by Paola of FlorenceTours.

Perfect location for a large family or group of friends
We didn't realize what a perfect location in Florence this would be when booking. So many lovely restaurants and cafes within a short walking distance. Downtown Florence and all the major sights are all under a 20min walk that honestly goes by so fast because of how beautiful the city is.
The apartment is a renovated space, clean, and modern. The bathrooms are small but adorable. All the bedrooms have AC units. The patio area was perfect for hanging out at night when all the kids were in bed but you have to be quiet for all the neighbors.
We arrived way later for check in than expected because of flight delays but the check in person was very sweet and helpful!

Awesome roomy place in great neighborhood.
Property Manager met us at the door, let us in and show this all the features of the property. Hey verify that the AC was working, the hot water was indeed hot and that the house was clean. The property is in a wonderful neighborhood that’s a quick walk to the Arno river area, yet still has locals that come out at night, great restaurants and coffee shops

Not clean - Cockroaches
Location was good, but the place is very run down. I was even ok with that but can't do the cockroaches. Everytime you opened up under the sink they would scamper. My daugther found one in her bed. They were coming out of the kitchen sink. So....pretty bad actually.
