About this house rental
This beautifully renovated and modernized Bahamian home retains its original grounds and garden, while enjoying modern comforts and conveniences. Driftwood sits on a hill with views of the ocean from the large upstairs master bedroom. A 5-minute walk down the hill takes you to the world renowned French Leave beach (formerly Club Med), while a 10 minute walk in the other direction takes you to the restaurants and shops in the village of Governor’s Harbour.
To enter the villa from the front, you pass the 10’x30’ private pool, up the stairs, and onto an expansive porch that overlooks the landscaped grounds and ocean beyond. At the front door you enter the open plan dining hall, with large windows in front and back to welcome the cooling trade winds and sounds of the ocean. The interior is light and bright, with white walls, tiled floors and wood ceilings. To the right is the open plan family room and fully equipped modern kitchen with granite countertops, gas cooktop, and stainless steel appliances.
To the left of the dining hall are two large bedrooms. The first is a large guest/children’s bedroom with twin beds (that convert to a king), a closet, and its own bath right across the hall. The second is the downstairs master bedroom suite with ensuite bath (bathtub and shower), two closets and a king bed. Both bedrooms access a private patio for enjoying the sights and sounds of nature in the morning sunlight.
The upstairs master bedroom suite is accessed from the stairway in the hall. It has a large balcony overlooking the grounds and ocean beyond, a large bath with double sinks, and a large walk-in closet and king bed. There’s plenty of room to relax and enjoy a good book or afternoon nap.
In addition to the 3 large bedrooms in the main part of the house, Driftwood has a separate, open plan studio with bedroom, bathroom, sitting room, closet and complete kitchen. The main entrance is from another private patio at the north end of the house; the second is a level entrance into the kitchen from the back garden. In addition, the studio bath has a low threshold shower for handicapped access. The main part of the house and the one bedroom studio are joined at the shared laundry room, equipped with large washer and dryer. The studio can be locked off from the rest of the house.
The back patio and garden area are accessed from the dining hall or the studio kitchen. It is private, protected from strong winds and enjoys afternoon sunlight, perfect for outdoor grilling. After a day on the beach, enjoy a dip in the pool and drinks on the front porch. Driftwood is beautifully landscaped with tropical flowers, palm trees, and fruit and nut trees.
Driftwood is just a short walk from town and nearby dining including the Buccaneer Club and Da Perk. Other nearby restaurants include Tippys (a 4 minute drive) and the Sunset Inn (a 5 minute drive). The historic town of Governors Harbour has grocery stores, banks with ATMs, gift shops, liquor stores, dive shop, bakery, and restaurants. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from the fishermen on the village dock. And don’t miss Friday night fish fry, a weekly beach/street party that brings together tourists and locals for food, drink, and dancing in the street.
Driftwood is fully equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Amenities include air conditioning in all rooms, WIFI, cable TV, Video and DVD player, pack n play, back-up generator, outdoor gas grill, beach & pool toys, beach towels, cooler, beach chairs & umbrella and more.

We had such an amazing time in Eleuthera! Beautiful, quiet beaches, wonderful people and a fantastic house for our stay! Kristin was very helpful before our stay with any questions and provided a lot of info about car rentals, boat trips and such. Misty was a great help once we got there.

Driftwood was everything we had hoped for and more! We loved being able to walk to French Leave Beach and the proximity of multiple restaurants from the house is a huge bonus. Misty was always available if we needed anything. We would 100% without a doubt stay here again.

Our house was lovely and so well equipped. There was plenty of room for all of us and we loved how nicely the home was decorated. We enjoyed the pool everyday. The road to the beach was pretty rough and I wish the house had been a little closer. We had a car, but a golf cart would have made it easier. It was still a great introduction to the Bahamas.

Excellent vacation rental. Comfortable, spacious, best location on the island, central and great for exploring with a rental car. French Leave beach was the best beach we visited and it's right in your backyard here.

We had a great time at Driftwood house. The house was pristine clean, well maintained and well equipped. The manager gave us an excellent service and was dedicated. The house has a good location close to a wonderful beach, close to restaurants and Governor’s Harbour facilities. We warmly recommend this property and won’t hesitate to come back.

We loved our stay at Driftwood. The house and property were perfect, spacious and comfortable for us and our 3 grown children and 1 significant other. The kitchen was well stocked with all items if you want to cook. Misty and her staff were very helpful and responsive especially as we were arriving at the end of a very bad storm. A few suggestions I might pass on to the owners as both an interior designer and a STR host is that a few additional comfortable pieces of furniture in the upstairs bedroom would be wonderful. The view is fabulous and I would have loved to curl up on a comfortable chair to read up there especially as our weather was a bit cool and windy. Additionally the tab style drapes were very difficult to use- either get blinds or attach rings and hem drapes so they slide over the rods easily. A note to first time visitors too- although the food and restaurants are wonderful it is VERY expensive! Plan on spending a lot of $$$ for good and drinks. We were planning on cooking more but the seafood boats were not running due to the storm. It is worth it though as the close French Leave beach is one of the best beaches we have seen in all our travels.

Beautiful and spacious home! Super clean and functional with a lot of kitchen appliances and cookware. Beautiful landscaping and inviting pool with ample lounge chairs. Outdoor seating/tables on porch and patio were welcoming. Umbrellas, coolers, and beach chairs provided were very convenient when heading to the beach. Manager was super responsive and helpful. Restaurants and beautiful beaches were close to the property. Has a generator in the event of island power outages. We loved coming home to this property and pool after long days at the beach!

My family had a wonderful stay here. The home is so spacious and Misty was an excellent host! She provided so much helpful information and we were able to pay her a fee to do our shopping beforehand, which was such a huge help. Never did we feel unsafe. We would definitely stay here again.

Certainly a wonderful place to holiday, stunning beach in easy walking distance and a short drive to the most beautiful and deserted beaches. Governors harbour is how I always imagined the Bahamas to be, photographs never quite catch it. The house was a dream although a little too big for three of us, Misty and her son were terrific and we felt in good hands. I would highly recommend Driftwood, especially for a family.

Our family of 8 adults met on Eleuthera for a week in March. This was a return to the island after more than 30 years for several of us, and we were pleased that it has retained its charms and natural beauty. Driftwood House is very well located if you like spectacular beaches, charming towns, and a central location from which to drive and explore. The house is well designed, furniture is very comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped. Visitors should know however that the water is from a cistern and is not potable. We drove to various food stores to refill 5 gallon jugs of drinking water every other day. The house was perfectly clean and is well cared for. We all enjoyed Governor's Harbor, the Friday night fish fry and conch salad stand, the library, nice restaurants, etc. We went to French Leave Beach daily, as well as other beaches. We jumped into the Sapphire Blue Hole, kayaked at Edwin's Turtle Pond, snorkeled on the way to the Schooner Cays, visited Harbor Island, and the Leon Levy Nature Center. We need to come back to do more exploring on this pretty island with such friendly people!

Overall - House is good not great. Has potential with some upgrades/ better upkeep Pros - Location close to French leave, good for groups with the separate in-law suite, pool is great - plenty of room for kids to play Cons - House needs a deep cleaning, some paint and overall closer attention to maintenance needs by management (ex: shower curtains with pink slime at bottom, broken shower heads, dirty doors, etc). Water pressure was an issue (very difficult to shower). House has bare necessities but not as comfortable/homey as many other houses we’ve stayed at in GHB.

The house was beautiful and in a great location, but suffered some of the quirks of an out-island Bahamian home: two of the four bathrooms did not produce hot water, the can lights in the master bedroom never turned on, and one of the secondary bathroom's lights were tough to turn off at times. We have family in the Bahamas and visit different islands annually - these issues are fairly common but nonetheless inconvenient.
The proximity to amenities (restaurants, bars, grocery stores, bakeries, etc) was great and a bit atypical for a rural island like Eleuthera. The walk to the beautiful Atlantic-side beach was convenient, the Club Med ruins were fun to explore, and being centrally located on the island made day trips to the north and south readily accessible.
However, our first night we were burgled out of $600 in cash. After checking in and stocking up on essentials in town we made an hour-long visit down to the beach. We saw a ton of shooting stars and had a great time. Lo-and-behold the next morning two of my friends discovered ~$300 in cash missing from each of their purses that were left in the living room while we were out. They know it was taken while we were at the beach because they used their wallets for supplies in town just prior to our little beach adventure.
We made sure to lock the front door, but one of the downstairs bedroom doors must have been unlocked when we arrived cause it was unused and not locked when we assessed the house when we realized the money was missing. The rear sliding door was also unlocked, which very well could have been left open by one of us. I later realized that a gift I had brought for a family member in Nassau that had been neatly wrapped with a bow was also nabbed from the master bedroom.
The most troubling part of this was we were clearly being watched because they struck very quickly at just the right moment. Fortunately, in their hurry, they didn't entirely clear us out of cash.
Misty took the burglary very seriously and contacted the police (who we never heard from directly) and brought batteries for the safe that was inoperable upstairs. Unfortunately it is not mounted to the wall, so it could be carried off very easily...
Ultimately, after this initial shock and discomfort we had a scenic, adventurous, and wonderful experience. Every Bahamian we interacted with was warm and inviting and we all plan to visit Eleuthera again in the years to come.

Our vacation started off with the most helpful host-Misty. We had many delays and she helped us navigate through them and helped us get on a ferry to the island.
When we arrived to The Driftwood House the outside looked tired but the inside was bright and had all the accommodations mentioned in the description of the house.
The house was clean at first appearance but the floors had hair all over them along with sand-no big deal I am good at sweeping!
Our stay was a grand adventure and we had lots of fun.
Unfortunately the Droftwood House was broken into on a Thursday when our host knew we were out for the day visiting Harbour Island and her son was supposedly to be on the property to pick up the trash and put chemicals in the pool.
When we rreturned to what we thought was a secured locked house, the door to the guest wing was unlocked. The house had been ransacked with $1200 in cash taken, 3 mens bathing suits, mens underwear and socks, an A&M Columbia shirt, a pair of Addidas shoes, Vuori Shorts, and ear phones from Apple.
Oddly enough the very next evening we ran into Misty at a restaurant celebrating her birthday. When we arrived there was a gentleman outside of the restaurant that was not right-I would say on some kind of drugs.
As it turns out it was Misty’s son.
This was no happenstance that this event occurred so it would reveal what happened the night before.
Misty said she filed a police report but when talking t a police Sargent in Nassau she followed up on it and nothing was reported.
I also asked Misty for the Home Owners name and number and she would not share them with me. I went down every path to get to the owners and Dina finally emailed me.
After speaking with the owner of the home I am hoping she can get this situation under control so other visitors can visit Driftwood and feel safe and confident they will not be robbed.
Myself and my family have travel around numerous islands outside the U

Driftwood was the perfect vacation home for our family of 6 adults and our 2 year old grandson. We needed a relaxing vacation, and Eleuthera and the home was indeed that and more. It was perfectly located to restaurants, the port, the beach, and great for early morning walks. The amenities offered in the home were great. We had everything that we needed and felt like we were very much at home. The home was very clean, spotless and also was very welcoming. I recommend Driftwood and will rebook again. The dishwasher, washer/dryer were of great use for us. I didn’t think I would need a dishwasher but we prepared breakfast and dinner most days, and thank God there was a dishwasher! The necessary utensils were all there, even a tea infuser, blender, coffee maker, everything you need for a relaxing vacation on a beautiful island.

Driftwood is a beautiful home and was the perfect layout for our group (2 families- 8 people). The house was clean, rooms spacious, with nice, modern decor. The pool area is so fun! Maybe some more shade in that area might be nice- another umbrella or two? The manager was super responsive when we called about some wasps nesting outside the front door. He showed up within minutes and took care of the issue. I would definitely stay there again, and really look forward to my next trip to Governor's Harbour. Such a great town!

This was our second stay at Driftwood and it was just as pleasant as our first one in 2018. The location is very convenient, with both Governor’s Harbour and the spectacular French Leave Beach in walking distance, or a 3 minute drive. The house was big enough for three couples and offered plenty of privacy. We loved being able to cool off in the pool after a day at the beach. The second floor balcony is wonderful for star gazing. Misty was quick to respond to any questions we had. Highly recommended!

Driftwood was amazing! The property is well maintained, pool was great - protected but sunny (when we had a couple windier afternoons on the Atlantic beach). View of Atlantic from the top floor master is beautiful. Rooms are all spacious with essentially two master suites - one on the main floor and one upstairs. In addition there are two other bedrooms with twin beds (one is a separate but attached apartment) that can be converted to king beds. Driftwood is well equipped. If you like to cook, the kitchen has everything you need. There is a large porch for dining outside, along with a large dining table inside. Located within a few minute's drive of French Leave Beach Resort, downtown Governor's Harbour, the Buccaneer, Bacchus fine foods etc. - the location is exceptional! Driftwood was great for our family. Misty, who is the property manager for this house, clearly understands hospitality, is wonderful and would call periodically on the flip phone she provides to check in, offering suggestions for excursions, restaurants etc. She allowed us to briefly store our packed luggage and groceries in the back of the house's studio apartment as we were transferring to another location for our second week on the island. She gave a great recommendation for a fishing charter in Savannah Sound (Captain Bubba) and lunch afterward. Also arranged for a driver for an early morning departure to the airport. Everyone should have a "Misty" in charge of their property! Thanks to Misty and the owners for a great stay!

Our family had a wonder stay at Driftwood. Well equipped including a marvelous kitchen let us feel like we were at home. The pool was great and beautiful French Leave Beach a short walk away. Close to all Governor’s Harbor had to offer but remote enough to be as quiet as we wanted. Our host Misty was always eager to help. By far however was the friendliness and welcoming attitude of the Eleutherians. Can’t wait to go back!

This house was everything promised. Spacious and very comfortable. Modern, beautifully decorated, and equipped better than our own home. This was the ideal place to rest and prepare for the insanity of COVID 19 in the US. As our internet and cable TV system was nonfunctional for most of our stay there, it turned out being mostly off the grid made the stay even more beneficial.Worked perfectly for our children and grandchildren as they came and went during our time there.Governors Harbour is a marvelous community to be a part of. Misty was outstanding as well as our property manager. Thanks Pat for allowing us to enjoy our stay in your beautiful home.

Awesome place and experience!
Our family stayed at Driftwood for a week over Christmas and loved it! I find it rare that a rental property lives up to the description and pictures, so we were very pleasantly surprised that this gem did. The house itself is very spacious, clean, has a great layout and was extremely well appointed. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the linens & towels are nice, the decor great and modern. We cooked dinner in one night for a large group, and wanted for nothing in terms of the kitchen, appliances and hanging out space. All was exactly as described and every detail has been thought of. The outside of the house is great in the front, with a nice front porch, very pretty pool, towels and beach cart. The only part we were a little underwhelmed by was the back patio, which was rather overgrown around the perimeter and shabby looking. It just didn’t seem to go with the inside of the house and the front area. Anyway, the location was amazing, a short walk to the French Leave Beach, Governors Harbor shops and restaurants, the lovely Bacchus Fine Foods, etc. I will also say that from the moment we inquired about the property early in the year, the rental company was amazing to work with. Helpful, incredibly quick to respond to my million questions, friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations on car rentals, excursions, etc. From an overall visit perspective, it was our first time in Eleuthera and we loved it - I don’t know when we’ve seen more beautiful beaches. The weather was not great while we were there, which was disappointing, but you can’t really control for that. The bugs are as terrible as advertised, but I spent a lot of time sitting in the sand with no repellent on. Overall, would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend Driftwood!

I booked this property because it had room for me, my husband, and our adult children as well as privacy form my daughter and her fiance. We all just LOVED it! The property management is excellent, the town is just a short walk away and the beach is not only magnificent it is memorable. I was a G.O. at the Club Med which owned this beach in the early 1980's and it was so bittersweet to see this world class pink sand beach again. The ruins are still there to explore. Cheers!

Best Family Vacation Ever
Beautiful house and landscaping, sparkling pool, gorgeous view, right in town! Our family of six didn't know what to expect, however the property manager and her son assisted us greatly in facilitating a rental car, informing us of the highlights and guiding us toward our interests. As a former G.O. at the Club Med Eleuthera, it was bittersweet for me to walk the ruins and remember the beach, but for my family it was a way to enjoy one of the most spectacular beaches in the world and connect to an authentic Bahamian experience. From the Fish Fry to Tippys, Sammy's and the Buccaneer Club, we enjoyed great night life and food. The town was an easy walk, as was the beach. My son-in-law got to connect with a bonefish charter and was delighted to catch fish! My vegetarian contingent was thrilled with the produce available at the Eleuthera Island Farm near the Palmetto crossroads, and the intrepid snorkelers swam with the massive schools of tiny fish at Ten Bays Beach. Relaxing at the Driftwood pool was a hit with everyone. The kitchen is extremely well equipt and we had great fun making family meals on the evenings we were too tuckered out to go out. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. I cannot recommend this location more highly. My family was 100% in agreement that this was the best family vacation ever.

Overall experience was fantastic! Property looked as advertised, and the layout was perfect for our group. The home was beautiful and clean but not spotless. A large amount of hair was visible throughout the home from previous guests. Thus we had to sweep the entire home on arrival, A vacuum cleaner would help alleviate the hair issue. The master bedroom had breathtaking views from the balcony and the bed was comfortable. A small wooden table in the room was dusty and in desperate need of polishing. The shower curtain was stained at the bottom and hair was on the shower floor. The master closet was huge but I honestly didn’t use it during our stay. The entire house is painted white which gives it an airy clean feel, however the bottom portion of the doors were a little dirty. The kitchen was well appointed and beautiful. I wish I could’ve packed it up to take with me back home! An outlet for the coffee maker wasn’t working so we had to move it to the other side of the kitchen. I was disappointed to find old coffee grinds left in the coffee maker as I prepared my first cup. A Kering would make for a pleasant update. The open layout was great for chatting and cooking. The pool was clean and lounge chairs were ample. The beach wagon, chairs and umbrellas were a total hit. The additional studio was clean but the air felt stagnant and a not so pleasant odor was present. I had a wonderful stay at the Driftwood and would definitely return.

Pre 50th Birthday Celebration
Property looked exactly as advertised! Pool was clean and refreshing. Beach cart and umbrellas were spot on. Made our beach outings easy breezy! Beach towels provided for guests were colorful and large, made packing from home less stressful. Landscaping was spectacular. We even saw a few lizards and beautiful birds. Pictures from master bedroom balcony were fantastic. Home would benefit from vacuuming, noticed plenty of hair in every room from previous guests. Pantry wasn’t thoroughly cleaned as well. Coffee grinds were left in coffee maker. Electrical outlet on one side of kitchen wasn’t working. We had to move coffee maker to an additional outlet. Keurig coffee maker would make a pleasant addition. White decor gives home a spacious vibe but bedroom doors were noticeably dirty. Bathroom mats should be washed after every guest, as well. High efficiency washer/dryer was a plus! We didn’t use the studio, but area had an unpleasant odor every time we exited the home from the back. Drawstring garbage bags would make trash disposal easier. Kitchen was well established made cooking enjoyable. Overall, property was inviting and cozy. Would definitely return.
