Located on the California Rivieria in the prestigious community of Monarch Beach are of Dana Point. This light, bright and airy condo is only a short walk (five to fifteen minutes depending upon your stride) from Salt Creek/Dana Strand Beach, the fabulous Five-Star Ritz Carlton and Monarch BeachGolf Course/Waldorf Astoria Resort (Formally the Monarch Beach Resort).
The incredible Montage is just three miles to the north. There is a walk along the bluff over looking the ocean that is one you will always remember. The beautiful Dana Point Harbor and Marina is only one mile away and features fine dining, water sports and boutique shops. Laguna Beach and San Clemente are less than a ten minute drive as well.
This exclusive Guard Gated community features a pool and two spas. There is a gym as well. If you feel like prepping for a marathon or bike race, come and run the many trails along the ocean! The scenery is gorgeous!

This ground floor/parking lot level unit is very easy to access. It is beautifully decorated in a contemporary/beach style. It has new granite in the kitchen and bathrooms. Please note that some kitchen features have been temporarily removed due to COVID. The AC/Heat is set to commercial property standards that range from 72-78 degrees. The kitchen is fully funtional-featuring toaster oven, panini machine and other fun things guests enjoy! It features queen beds in both bedrooms. There is a dining room, laundry room off the patio, wood burning fireplace and high speed internet. All bed and bath linens are provided as well as beach towels, chairs and umbrellas.
All Rentals in the City of Dana Point are required by LAW to be inspected and registered with the City of Dana Point and provide in their listing the Certificate Number. (This rental is Certificate Number: STR15-0360 ID 01296835) are required by law to pay the City of Dana Point a Short Therm Rental Transient Occupancy Tax. We booked for a daddy/daughter Easter weekend and found out after we paid that the condo had "having lights out in snd ceiling May not be touched up", which was a little weird that I did not see it previously disclosed, but thought ok, apparently the price reflected this. That was the start to some bad communication that ultimately resulted in us being denied access to the unit and not refunded our $$ !!
In her first message to us she stated "Please let me know the names of the people who will be staying and a copy of your drivers license and I’ll give them it to the guard at the gate." We provided this information over 33 hours prior to our check in time. She had also sent a rental agreement but did not reference it in any way, in any of her messages, so I didn't see it at the time because it sits down at the bottom of the page. She NEVER messaged about it. The agreement was ultimately sent more than 24 hours prior to check in time. After the day that we booked the condo, I never heard from her again, until I received this - the morning before the day of our check-in: "I am sorry but the requirements were to provide the information at the time of the booking. With COVID there are restrictions at the gates and for the cleaning crews. Please cancel your booking."
You think a good, communicating, ethical manager would give a little warning somewhere along the way, and say - hi, please submit the rental agreement within for first 48 hours or I will deny your entry to the property the day before you come and keep all of your money, while ruining your Easter plans! She asked ME to cancel when she knows the property has a no refund policy. Why would I cancel the day before our arrival, forfeiting big $,when the booking still showed online as booked and ready? She claimed that because we didn't cancel (the day before our check in date) she was unable to book someone else, while simultaneously saying that she had to have the rental agreement days ahead of check-in. She already had our agreement at that point. She stated repeatedly later she gave reminders about the rental agreement, so I asked her to show me where she had reminded me, to prove it, and of course she could not, because she never mentioned it. I understand there must be rules to protect owners. I have a rental too! In this case, the rental form was difficult to see and the manager was happy to keep my money & deny us. We also paid for cleaning that was NEVER DONE. I feel ripped off.

Excellent Location/Value for money
Love to stay at Monarch Beach. Owner is always wonderful to work with-the fully stocked kitchen and room for family and friends make the stay more than comfie. Heat works great. The beach vibe is appreciated. Can walk to beach, golf and restaurants. Owner very accommodating to visitors and family who like to come and visit while we stay at the condo. Will be back!

Ritz pointe nightmare
Furnishings dated, crowded, felt like storage depot. Washer made horrible thumping noise. Given wrong Wi-Fi code. Asked too many questions. Host used covid as an excuse for no shower mats or coffee pods. Gave us an hr to get out. Accused us of having doors & windows open making too much noise. It was so cold out, no doors or windows were open. We r all in our 70’s so the noise accusation is ridiculous! Talk about a pack of lies you have no rights with Vrbo, stay in a hotel!

Dana Point Condo
We had a nice time at Darlene’s wonderful condo in Dana Point. The location is really good with access to the local beaches within 10 minutes drive and good grocery stores and restaurants very nearby. You also can be in Laguna Beach or San Clemente is about 29 minutes which makes the location really desirable. The condo accommodated the four of us comfortably with its two bedroom/ two bath layout. Also the washer/dryer is a big plus. And, the whole complex is gated and protected by security which made us feel very secure. Lastly, Darlene was a good communicator and always answered our questions promptly.

The Area is What we were Looking For
It served our purpose. We were looking for something close to Waldorf Astoria where family was staying. The unit itself was OK but needs updating. Lots of lamps everywhere because the unit itself was dark. The owner was very responsive.

Stay Away from this condo!
I have rented many places with VRBO and this one was the worst! When we arrived the condo was not clean. We picked up 3 false nails in the kitchen from the previous people that stayed there. So the floors not vaccumed or mopped.
The condo is a storage unit for the owners. It has so much furniture it is crazy. They have huge armoires in the bedroom that should hold TV but there are not TV just huge useless furniture. The main TV had scratches on it and streaming TV.
We never heard of Pluto TV. It was not user friendly.
We had no hot water for our last two days of our stay and told the owner and her reply was you need to check out then! Not, I will send a plumber just check out! In fact, she got so nasty, we did check out early! I would think twice, maybe three times not to rent this condo. The owner or property manager is CRAZY!

Comfortable 2 bedroom unit in great location to visit Dana Point area
We had a great short stay (2 days) while attending a family wedding in San Juan Capistrano. The unit was very comfortable for our family of 6 (all over 20) and the location perfect for us. Darlene was super helpful getting us checked in and most accommodating as we needed to get ready for the wedding on the day of check-in.

Horrible first experience with VRBO
The property was in dire need of maintenance. There was way too much furniture for the unit size...it seemed like it was a storage unit for the owner. It was an obstacle course getting to the washer/dryer located outside balcony. One rug corner near the restroom was curled up...a tripping hazard. The toilet seat was only held on by a single bolt which made for exciting seating. There was molding missing in both restrooms. The mattress was worn and we rolled to the center of the bed all night. While the washer was running there was very little hot water in the kitchen sink. An electrical outlet near the entry stand was so worn the plug would not stay plugged in. Too few outlets for todays technology. It is a very long walk to the beach.

Incredible location, excellent host.
My wife, seven year old son, and I stayed here to escape the Tahoe smoke and enjoy the beaches. The listing was accurate, and the host was incredibly responsive and helpful. The unit was large, clean, and had everything we needed. Of course, the location cannot be beat. We had such a nice day.
We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

Great, CLEAN, Central Base for exploring So CA
We LOVED this clean condo and used it as a central base for operations while visiting So CA attractions-wanted to share how close the beach is to the condo! We were in the area for a business trip but will definitely come back and stay with our families in the future!

Great for families with children- lots of supplies for the beach , high chair, car seat , tons of books & board games. Owner is very quick to respond & very accommodating. Only one TV . Very close to parking space . Great location & walk to the beach.

Perfect Getaway
Had a wonderful short stay at the condo.
We were there for a business trip and opted to stay there opposed to a hotel. The condo is in a braid full neighborhood. The check in process was a breeze and we appreciated the communication with the owner. I would absolutely stay there again .

A perfect getaway to rest relax and be a base for excursions exploring the Dana Point, Laguna Beach regions. From booking and payment to enjoyment and checkout, this was a great experience. The owner, Darlene, made everything easy and simple for us as guests.

Condo has everything you could possibly need. Kitchen has everything you need if you wanted to make a meal. Plenty of towels, beach chairs, umbrellas anything you could possibly want/need. Furniture & beds were comfortable. Owner was always available with speedy responses. Water pressure was awesome!! We will definitely be back again!!

Family loved staying at this condo so close to so many beaches and equestrian activities! There is something for everyone at this condo-beach stuff, games, tv, cooking… Owner was super kind to our family. We will be back!

Comfy beach town getaway
We stayed 3 weeks at this property with our pup.
It had everything you'd need and it was an amazing location. We were able to work remotely, enjoy the sunshine and proximity to the beach. Enjoyed daily walks through the safe and beautiful community with trails leading you to Salt Creek beach.
Communication with the property manager was fantastic and they were extremely helpful with getting us settled in and tips to take advantage of Dana Point during our stay.
Highly recommend this location if you are considering staying in the area. We cannot wait to come back.

Avoid at all costs!
Space here is limited, but here is a VERY condensed version of what this owner put us through: We arrived to a mess of baking soda all over the condo that the cleaners"had left after "cleaning" the floor, and when we politely asked the owner for a working vacuum she told us to stop bothering her because we were not worth the trouble for the price we were paying for the condo, she then told us about her and her families medical problems (not sure why). She further said if we didn't like the condo to get out! We explained we liked the condo, just needed a vacuum, our stay was for a month and we have 2 dogs, but she continued to threaten us with eviction. We stopped messaging her at that point because we were very anxious, had nowhere to go, and had only been there for 2 hours. We had already been in CA for 2 months at a much more expensive rental house, so price was not an issue for us at all, we just wanted to see another part of CA in a unit that accepted our dogs. We realized we were dealing with a very unstable situation and decided we would just buy a vacuum and hoped for no further contact. Next morning: We received an even more absurd communication from her falsley accusing us of having 5 people instead of 4 in the condo, and after much back and forth with the guard gate determined she entered our names wrong in the system and our son's name was omitted. We tried to get this easily resolved but she refused to answer the gate calls or ours, or vrbo's. Our son was basically locked out of the property. We then realized she was trying to force us out and keep our money so we called our attny. at home who advised us to get out of there for our sanity and deal with the rest later. Thankfully our previous house rental was avail and the owner told us to come back asap. We filed a complaint with vrbo and they found in our favor and returned much of our money due to her horrific abusive behavior and falsities. We have a lawsuit pending for the rest of our money and a complaint with her HOA. The owner will try to refute everything I've said, she'll say we left the condo in poor condition but fortunately we have written and photo/video proof of everything including that we left the condo in the best condition we could in spite of the the condition we found it in. Thanks to vrbo for handling our case so well! I wrote this to save anyone else from this epic nightmare , if something seems too good to be true it is. Stay away!

Wouldn’t stay again.
Make sure before you book that you are prepared to clean the entire place before you leave. Even though you pay a cleaning fee, you have to do everything. Apparently putting the dishes in the dishwasher, stripping the sheets and taking out the trash is not enough. Not really a vacation feel.
Pans were already burned. The place is crowded with furniture as if it’s a place for the people who own it to store it. Makes it feel crowded. Hard to move around freely, not a place you want to just hangout at. When you lay on the bed, the bed frame makes a loud sound and caves in. Very annoying.
No spices or condiments available. A lot of random stuff in the cabinets.
Location is great and price was great but other than that I would not stay there again.
Will probably nitpick how clean you left it in order to get even more money out of you. I declined wanting to stay longer and I feel that because of that, tried to get more money out of me.

Christmas 2020
The property manager and I had difficulty communicating. Which was mostly due to my lack of knowledge about how VRBO works. I didn't realize that once you made the reservation communication had to go through the reservation not the VRBO site. The description of the property was accurate on the website and was close to the everything we needed. The condo was fully equipped the only thing missing were bath soap and mixing bowels. There were plenty of towels that were big and fluffy. But there were not any towel racks in the bathrooms. We probably would have used less towels if there had been a place to hang them to dry between use.

Nice neighborhood and great location

Easy contact with owner and check in. The setting is gated and secure in a beautiful area. . Home was comfortable, clean and quiet. Enjoyed visiting family In the area and feeling the sunshine.

Decent place to stay - great location
Great location, lots of things in the condo to make the stay enjoyable. Easy to communicate and work with the owner. One minor caveat is that the floor was pretty dirty when we got there. We ended buying a mop and mopping the floors a couple of times. Also, the furniture was overly big. Kind of felt a bit more crowded as everything seemed oversized. Overall though the stay was pleasant, and the experience was good. Would think about staying again later.

Rude Owner
Will not stay again. Owner was rude. Let me explain … Because of COVID, the wedding we were attending was canceled. I contacted the owner and asked if we could re-book for sometime in 2021. She said no, we were outside the cancel window. We decided okay, we’ll go anyway rather than lose our money. I asked the owner if we could check in an hour early and she agreed, in fact, she offered us to check in a few hours earlier. I thanked her for that because it was nice of her. When we arrived I couldn’t operate the tv, and contacted her. My husband figured it out. I apologized for bothering her about that – since it was my ignorance in operating the remote. The next day we discovered we had no hot water. I contacted her the second time. I received a very long text back stating that the hot water tank was new, that the previous guest said the water was too hot, and that she could see a “pattern” with my complaints and made a comment about “this is not a hotel.” (No, it should be BETTER than a hotel.) She never offered to, and never did come and check on the hot water issue. My husband then discovered that the hot water tank was not “on” and he had to reset it. We finally had hot water. I never heard from the owner again even after I texted her to tell her how we got the hot water working. There was no info book in the unit with instructions on anything – like checkout instructions (strip the beds or not, where to take the trash, etc.) or where the pool was located – nothing. The unit is nice and spacious and in a nice gated community. But that alone is not enough to make me endure such a rude owner. So, renter beware.

Five days at the beach!!!
Loved the location of this spacious condo! Close to Dana Point Harbor, Salt creek beach, and the coves of Laguna beach! The condo was the perfect size for our family, with lots of amenities. We liked having 2 different high end coffee pots, Keurig or drip! Darlene is a Super Star host too. We would definitely stay again!!

Great family stay. Close to the beach. Safe community.
We (husband, 2 1/2 year old and 11 month old) had a get stay at the condo. The unit is in a gated community. You have to go through the host if you want to have any guest visit as she will give the information to the guard gate. The unit is on the ground floor. Just a quick walk from your covered parking spot to the front door. Very dog friendly community. The inside of the unit is a bit outdated but has everything you need specially if you have babies. Everything was very clean. We had some issues with the internet and cable tv throughout our trip but the host was helpful to resolve. The kitchen has almost too much glassware and cookware but nite there are no seasoning like salt and pepper. We found plenty of cleaning products. There’s a ton of beach items- chairs, boogie boards etc but know some are broken. When the host found out we had kids she hand delivered sand toys For them. Because of COVID all the amenities were not open. We spent most of our time at baby beach or walking around the harbor. We heard there was a beach access walk through the monarch resort golf course but thought it would be too hard with kids. Would absolutely stay again.
