October 21, 2011 – New York Times, Emily Brady:
“Sonoma County may be best known for its wineries and the tony (sic) towns of Healdsburg and Sonoma, but West County, as locals call the area around Sebastopol, is where the vineyards begin to give way to rolling hills, bohemian enclaves and the wild Pacific Coast beyond. Sure, there’s wine produced here — excellent pinots in particular — but there’s plenty to explore beyond it, especially around Sebastopol, where in recent years new restaurants, shops and live music venues have opened, securing the town’s position as West County’s arts and culture hub.”

American as Apple Pie
“‘I’ve been to Napa and Sonoma,’ you hear people say, as if they were one and the same. Sure, Sonoma’s 300-plus wineries, like those of vine-centric Napa, offer peak wine tasting, from Ravenswood’s deep Zinfandels to Gloria Ferrer’s sophisticated sparklers. But if you’ve visited only the county’s wineries, come back to sample the astounding diversity that makes Sonoma one of America’s travel treasures.
Spend some time floating in an inner tube down the Russian River and walking amid ancient giants—one over 1,400 years old—at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Poke around the old Russian stockade at Fort Ross, which turns 200 in 2012, or the Spanish adobe mission, San Francisco Solano, in Sonoma town. Hunt for antiques along Petaluma’s downtown Victorian row, and dine on seasonal sake-steamed, aged abalone at Michelin-starred Cyrus in Healdsburg. And don’t miss a flaky, fruit-packed slice of Gravenstein pie from Mom’s Apple Pie, a roadside stop outside Sebastopol. It ranks up there with a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir as a real taste of Sonoma.”

Wonderful!!! It far exceeded our expectations in every way! There was so much thought put into every little thing!! Have never stayed in a VRBO that paid such attention to the details. From everything to water bottles in the fridge to bath bombs in the bathroom! A welcome gift of wine and fresh fruit. I could go on and on….and we stayed over Christmas and the house was decorated in a beautiful way for the holidays. It was just perfect in every way! Will definitely stay here next time we are in Sebastopol!!

A comfortable, peaceful home on a beautiful property. Perfectly maintained and hosted, we had wine and a wonderful selection of fresh fruit left by the hostess. We were within minutes of Bodega, Sebastopol and a host of other lovely Sonoma County communities- all worth spending time in. Couldn't have been better.

Blackberry Cottage was a lovely place to stay. The layout of the house is very functional and comfortable. It's near the neighboring lodge, but had sufficient privacy. The kitchen was very well furnished and the owner left a nice selection of fruit and a couple bottles of wine. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

It's nice, good looking, clean place. Second floor is warmer than first floor, especially during hot days. I think we'll stay there more times again.

Property is well-located and well-maintained. Hosts are gracious and eager to ensure our stay was perfect. Small welcoming touches were noticed and appreciated. Garage was perfect place to unpack and garage our bikes. Truly, it was more like we were staying in someone’s home instead of a generic lodging. Many thanks.

My boyfriend and another couple spent a long weekend wine tasting. Location was great. This is by far the cleanest place I ever rented, thank you.

My husband and I spent a weekend at this property with friends, and it was the perfect base for two days of vineyard tasting. Around the corner from DRNK and Red Car, and a quick jaunt to numerous other favorite locations. The home was clean, tidy, and had one of the best-stocked kitchens of any vacation rental I've visited. Would definitely recommend, and hope to stay here again in the future!

This property is a favorite, so much so that we came back a second time. I stayed here the night before my wedding and always told my wife, I'd love to stay here with her sometime and the opportunity presented itself as we were visiting friends/family and attending a wedding. This property has a perfect location and really everything you need for staying in the Russian River area, always a favorite and cannot wait again for the next visit!

Lovely cottage in Sonoma County
Blackberry Cottage had all the comforts of home for our family getaway to Sonoma County. The hosts had fresh fruit and wine on the kitchen counter upon our arrival. We got to enjoy ripe blackberries off the bushes along the driveway. This is a great location with access to wineries, restaurants and cafes, the Russian River, Bodega Bay and Sonoma Coast State Park, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. A lovely place for rest and relaxation.

Beautiful space
The entire experience at blackberry cottage was great, enjoyed visiting some of the area wineries and took a day trip to the ocean as well as dome hiking. Wish I could have stayed longer but had to get back to real world. Hopefully will be back within the next couple years.
