About this cabin rental
This new camp is something special. Constructed in the traditional Maine camp style, it has been wonderfully put together by local craftsmen and has beautiful, bright varnished pine interior v-match walls.
For maximum privacy the home is situated approximately 200 ft from the lake, surrounded mostly by trees with peeks of the water. The private waterfront area which is exclusive to guests consists of a waterfront deck, swimming area with ladder, and dock extending out over the water. There are also offshore boat moorings. It is possible to drive to within 25 ft of the water if desired.
The main level offers a roomy modern kitchen with all new appliances, black granite tile and a 9 foot bar area. The dining area and living room offer a wonderful open floor plan. The main level also has a large screened porch which is perfect to curl up and read a book or just enjoy the wonderful natural setting. The master bedroom and full bath are located on the main level.
Up the stairs there is a roomy loft which has two twins and couch. Perfect for games or another spot to kick back and relax. Down the 'catwalk' there is the large 2nd bedroom which has a full sized bed as well as 2 twins. A door leads to a smaller upper deck.
The 3rd and lower level is a walk-out basement with TV area, bar, an additional sleeping room with full sized bed, and a full 2nd bathroom. There is a washer/dryer in the laundry room.
Heat is available to take the edge off cool nights for those enjoying early spring or our colorful fall leaf season.
Tons of Fun at the Waterfront
At the waterfront is a new dock, private swimming area, BBQ area with waterfront deck, a buoy to attach your boat and/or watercraft to. The waterfront deck is large and a great spot for dining and enjoying sunsets at the water's edge.
From this very popular location on the Eastern side of Pinkham's Cove, you can boat all over Great Pond, ride your boat in to Belgrade Lakes village, and enjoy picture-perfect sunsets. The shore also has car access to as close as about 25 feet from the water, which is very convenient for loading/unloading kayaks, canoes, and the like.
The Belgrade Lakes area is known best as the inspiration for the story and film On Golden Pond. The lakes in the area (7 beautiful interconnected lakes) offer great boating, fishing, water skiing and of course swimming.
Enjoy the day at the lake or going through the countryside shopping treasures and antiquing. If you prefer a game of golf, the highly acclaimed course in Belgrade Lakes Golf Course is located just minutes away. A day trip to Bar Harbor, Freeport or Camden lets you enjoy more of what the great State of Maine has to offer and all are easily accessible from Belgrade.
Bring your boat or rent one and spend the day on any one of the seven incredible and beautiful lakes in the area. Boat/kayak rentals are easily available at several locations nearby. All these vendors are familiar with this cabin/property.
Please note: During the summer, our guest rentals run Saturday to Saturday.
Sheets and Towels are not ordinarily supplied. Bedspread, blankets and pillows are supplied. Please bring your own sheets, towels, paper towels, and toilet paper.

Very nice traditional Maine Camp. A little far from the water.

The only complaint is that the week flew by too quickly! We enjoyed being tucked in the woods by beautiful Great Pond! Accommodations perfect for our family group! Enjoyed walks and lake time as well as trips into Belgrade Lakes Village and other nearby areas such as Augusta and Waterville. Sure hope to come back! Great host!

Reflections-We knew to bring sheets; we did not know to bring towels! That was a bit problematic as we were a group who had to work all day and had nothing for showers. It's all in the "view property details"on vrbo but difficult to navigate and finally in the last sentence of five or six paragraphs. Also a bit disappointing that there isn't really a view of the lake from the house.
That info should be more visible when booking. There should be more info IN the house and and SIGNS OUTSIDE the property-- like where that beautiful lake access is! Otherwise the house is lovely. It makes more sense for weekly rentals, we were earlier than prime season and only needed two nights.

Really liked being out in the Maine woods.
The cabin had everything I wanted, especially the kitchen which was fully equipped for any kind of cooking you might have in mind.
The host graciously helped us find towels which made the stay much more comfortable.
We had a great time.

This house is in a great location with plenty of space for everyone. The waterfront area is awesome and offers a great swimming location and dock/buoy for your boat. As advertised, it is a downhill walk from the house to the waterfront, but you can easily drive down there as well. As far as advice for future visitors, unless you pay extra for the linens and towels to be provided, make sure you remember to bring everything! We remembered our bath towels and beach towels, but didn't think about kitchen towels or hand towels for the bathrooms. Therefore, we went out and bought some while we were there. Also, the downstairs bathroom has absolutely no hooks to hang any towels, not even a hand towel. For some reason, there was no cold water in the downstairs bathroom sink. Not a big deal, but just unexpected. Downstairs was a little musty smelling, but also to be expected for a basement area. Lastly, the stairs up to the deck were steep and a little off pitch. Once again, not a big deal, but a little difficult for older guests. Maybe the writeup that states "new camp" should be updated. The exterior of the home doesn't look like the picture provided in the advertisement. I would guess that picture is from when the house was newly built. Overall, this was a nice place to stay and the owner even let us check in a little early. We had a fun week!

Cabin was nestled in the woods. Beautiful space- close to all needed amenities. Owner was very responsive. We had several elders in our group so the large hill to lake access was not possible but we enjoyed the time nonetheless

Private Getaway
This property overall was great. Post covid we wanted a place to let the kids have their friends join us for a fun summer week. The walk down the water wasn't bad, the walk back was a bit tougher, but it's as advertised. The dock was unstable, and probably the biggest issue we had all week. Great use of space. Lots of beds. We had a steady flow of teens visit all week, as we live less then 2 hours away. They loved the screened porch to hang out in the evenings. The yard was enough space for us to set up a volleyball net and play cornhole. The AC was happy find on the hot days. We rented a boat at the marina and spent the week running the kids around on a tube in the lake. As to the house, seems there is an issue when using the shower in the basement floor with drainage. There was a dehumidifier but it didn't work. We didn't spend a lot of time down there, just used the bedroom anyway. Having the grill on the deck was great. Only thing we missed was the ability to have a camp fire, but we understood the liability. We used the charcoal grill by the lake for s'mores. Overall, nice place, lots of room, and if you read everything carefully, it is as advertised. It was the perfect kick off to summer. We would book again in the future.

Summer Vacation letdown
Overall very poor experience and stay! Cleanliness of cottage poor.
Garbage left in cottage toilets and showers dirty. False inferred advertising of water front property. Cottage back in woods multiple cottages on lake in front of the property with dogs barking. Internet access did not work. Barbecue very dirty and no propane. Property did have access to the lake but dock was unsafe and collapsed when I stepped on it. Whole property needs maintenance and serious TLC. Also we travelled international flight and arrived late with no lights on and found out there was no linen/ bed sheets or towels etc. I definitely do not recommend this property as is. Although it has potential if owners put some upkeep and TLC.

Modern Rustic
This is an excellent property for large families! Plenty of space and seating for any purpose. Water access is a short walk, but has BBQ and picnic table at the boat landing so very convenient! Overall an amazing space!

Peaceful, quiet , near the lake
Plenty of sleeping space, nice screened in porch, beautiful lake. Long dirt road drive in but we liked the quiet, rural setting.

Very disappointed
Property was dirty, as well as beds not made as promised or any clean sheets or towels, some was in locked closet in basement. Manager came by after requested but took several hours. Wifi did not work, TV programs were old, no local channels or news. Outside placed looked nice. It is as if the previous guest left and nothing was done

Nice cabin
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The walk to the water was not bad and the dock area was nice. We visited family on different parts of the lake so we didn't use grill or bar area - although they looked like they were in really good shape. The kitchen was nice and had lots of helpful materials. House was clean and we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely 4th of July stay
Great property with plenty of room for a large family (and pet friendly!!!). A bit of a hike to the waters edge, but wasn't a huge deal for us. Mooring for the boat was nice to have and even a nice little sitting dock at the water with a picnic table and chairs. House was stocked with all the necessities (bring your own sheets), beds were OK for comfort, sitting areas in the house (living room) and on the screen porch were great! John was very responsive to the calls/texts when we had questions. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would defintely go back!

Lake Vacation
The owner was very accommodating to our last minute request to book and we really appreciated that. He was also extremely responsive to my few emails. The property was great but a bit further from the lake then anticipated, with only limited lake views from the house. Although I believe this was described accurately in the listing. Once on the dock, we had beautiful views of the lake. We enjoyed our stay.

Disappointed
This is our third year renting this property. While The owner is very quick to respond to any issues that may arise we found that the camp has significantly deteriorated since the first year we rented. It was a disappointment. When we arrived It was not clean and someone was actually still there so we had to leave and return later. We contacted the owner who said he thought our dates were the next day. He corrected that mistake but Sadly when returning later in the day the cabin was not clean. The floors were dirty and unswept, the basement very damp with strong musty odor. We had rented this cabin for special guests but had to clean it completely before our guest arrived. Not sure what happened this year but sadly we’ll probably not rent this cabin again.

Spacious house but needs some improvements
The house is spacious. I appreciate John’s quick responses to my questions prior to and during our stay.
There were a couple of things that I’m not thrilled about and need improvements such as the dryer was malfunctioned (it wasn’t spinning), the grill worked perfectly; however, when we lighted up the grill, there was a big flame caught us by surprise - need to be looked into. The two porches needs to be cleaned.
If those areas could improve, the lake house is a nice place for renters for a quick getaway or to spend several days at a private lake.
Positives about the house: modern kitchen and appliances, spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, screened-porch, short walk to the lake (a great place & view to relax, read a book, kayak or swim).

Beautiful, clean, large home--with slightly awkward water entry
If you're looking for a great place to gather a whole bunch of people in a fairly new, really clean and lovely home, this will satisfy... The great room is fantastic, the yard is nice for bocce and playing catch, and the screened-in porch is very relaxing.... It is a little walk down to the water, but there is a picnic table down there, and a nice dock. There's even a little "put-in" for a kayak a few yards away. Plus the owner, John Endicott, is wonderfully helpful & responsive.
You can enter the water by making a shallow dive or climbing down a ladder to the water. Personally, I love having a "water shoe" entry to the water, but I know I'm being picky!

Wonderful!
Great place! Plenty of room, we would rent again! We saved some money by bringing our own sheets and towels, it's a fantastic cabin in a wonderfully peaceful area!

Definitely NOT a waterfront property as listed
Loon Call cabin may indeed be situated 200 feet from the lake, as described, but what is not mentioned is that there are three houses between this cabin and the water. The access to the lake is about 200 yards away down a gravel driveway. By down, we mean DOWN. It is a fairly steep hill. Prior to booking the property, we asked John about this path, as it was important to us that our parents be able to access the lake. John noted the gravel path, as well as the ability to drive to the dock. He failed to mention the steep hill and the gravel/wood steps to get to the dock. Had we known about these barriers to my father being able to access the lake on his own, we would have passed on this property. For the rest us, this was just a hassle (especially not being able to see or hear the kids when they were on the dock, and having to drive supplies down there to enjoy dinner by the water).
The house itself is nice, but in need of some basic attention to make it a nicer rental. The furnishings on the main floor are comfortable. There are not enough chairs at the dining room table for 8-10 guests. There were also not enough kitchen supplies for cooking and dining, though John did send over more pots, pans, and silverware at our request. There were multiple burnt-out light bulbs (replacements provided for us to change), 2 broken lamps, a tattered couch downstairs that made that room entirely uninviting, and a broken couch on the screen porch. In our opinion, the beds in the upstairs and basement bedrooms were uncomfortable. The blankets provided were in desperate need of washing between guests (we washed most of them during our stay). This lack of attention and care is really unacceptable.
If you are bringing a boat, the dock is 10 feet long with a ramp that extends it to 16 feet from the deck. There is a mooring that may need additional weights added if your boat is heavy (Great Pond Marina will provided these if you are renting from them).
John was very responsive before and during our stay, and we are bringing these things to his attention (as we did throughout our stay) so that improvements can be made, and in the hopes that details about the house will be disclosed in the listing so that future renters can make an informed decision.
Positives: Private, pet-friendly, W/D, dishwasher, 2 bathrooms, screened porch, and a nice swimming area. Easy fixes: New furniture, clean blankets, and shelves in the downstairs bathroom.

Disappointed
The walk to the water was to steep for me to get to. The upstairs area was to hot. The downstairs (basement) was freezing. The doors to the house were open with no house key to use. Would not recommend. Disappointed Not worth the price.

Kids and adults had a blast!
This cabin is well-suited for groups of adults and kiddos. The adults loved sitting out on the screened porch enjoying coffee (and cocktails). The kids had fun watching movies in the basement . . . AND of course swimming. The dock is spacious and we spent most of our days down there. The lake is clean and just perfection. It is a walk downhill from the cabin, but we got used to it after the first day. It's important to note that you cannot see the dock (or much of the lake) from the cabin.
The kitchen was suitable for us, but was missing a lot of silverware (only 3 spoons for morning cereal). The dishwasher was broken but the owner was responsive when we contacted him.
The open concept of the cabin was conducive to casual dinners and accommodated everyone well.
