Beautiful house but disappointing functionality
The house was beautiful but many issues. The pool heater wasn’t working when we arrived, the main fridge was broken and then started leaking water all inside on everything, the microwave didn’t work intermittently, the back stairs down from 4th floor shook and were unsafe, the propane grill hose was broken and unsafe. We had no toaster or broom and had to go into the office to request these items. Loved the area and beach but will not rent with Surf or sound again.

The house is amazing! Beautiful amenities, everything was very clean! There was plenty of space for everyone. We had 19 people and it never felt crowded!
We only wished it was a little closer to the beach. We couldn’t see the beach from the house because of the dunes. With small children it was a bit of a hike to the water.
I suppose it was the time of year that we went, but the rip current was very strong. There were warnings every day. Just FYI to vacationers who might want to go in the water to swim or boogy-board.
But honestly, those are the only complaints anyone had. We had a great time and loved the house!

Amazing house, not as close to ocean as expected.

On Sunday, 7/23/17, the refrigerator in the kitchen was not staying cold, refrigerator temperature vacillating 35-45, freezer 0-17, even when not opened for long period of time. The outside toilet was not flushing. I called Surf or Sound Realty Maintenance on Monday, 7/24/17 to report these items. I was disconnected the first time I called. When I connected with Maintenance, I was told a work order was being placed and someone from Maintenance would come to the house. I called again on Tuesday, 7/25/17 since no one came on Monday. I was told they could see the work order and that “Mike” would come out on Tuesday. I called again on Wednesday, 7/26/17 and was disconnected on my first call. On my second attempt, the phone rang and rang. Finally, it was answered by Laken (sales?) with whom I had to re-state issues even though I told her a work order existed. I relayed my frustration in obtaining a resolution to the refrigerator and outside toilet issues. I stated that there also were other routine maintenance issues that should have been addressed prior to our arrival but my main concern was the refrigerator because we had food in both the refrigerator and freezer which I did not want to go bad. She told me she would try to get Maintenance and put me on hold. When she returned, she said Patty (?) was getting in touch with Mike and he would come out Wednesday. Mike did come Wednesday afternoon. He said the refrigerator/freezer air vents at the top of this appliance were clogged; he cleaned them and replaced a filter. When I asked him about the outside toilet, he replied “I’m the appliance guy” and that he would let the office know about the outside toilet. Needless to say, that issue was never addressed during our stay.
Thursday, 7/27/17, was the major power failure. Friday, 7/28/17, men arrived during the day and said they were checking to make sure the air conditioning, pool and hot tub were turned off. Imagine our surprise as it got dark (generators were supplying electricity) when we found that those men had actually turned off power to ½ of the house. I called the 800 number and since the office was closed I called the emergency night number. I spoke with Claudia, explained the situation, gave her my cell phone number and she said “I will send a message and someone will call you back”. I have never received a telephone call from anyone connected with Surf or Sound Realty regarding this.

The house was so spacious, and accommodating. Only had a few issues... one bed was broken, the maids left off some sheets, it took 2 days to get back. The washing machine broke, and the bulb in the theater room broke half way they never came to fix it:
But the view was breath taking, and the pool and hot tub was very relaxing.

I recently stayed at the Shooting Star and booked it through Surf or Sound Realty. My experience was incredible. The realty was amazing, on time check in lasting less than 10 minutes and curb side checkout. The house itself is beautiful and is the pictures are right on! For packing purposes . .it is fully stocked with cups, mugs, plates, bowls, silverware, pots & pans. It has two coffee makers and a toaster. I do recommend bringing dish towels and sponges, brillo, dishwasher soap, etc. The linens provided are bed sheets and two towels per room. I would recommend bringing more bath towels. the house has a high chair, two booster seats and one baby gate, which was kind of hard to install because of the way the stairs were placed, but we made do. We had children ranging in age from 1 year to 16 years old! The house also had a pack and play. I would definitely recommend this house and the realty . .it was a vacation of a lifetime!
