This property was welcoming and easy. The artwork and the books add to the interesting decor. I wish I had time to read more! I felt like I was staying at a generous friend's house where it was quiet and peaceful and the air was fresh and refreshing! Great location for Jacob's Pillow commute and only a little further for Kripalu and Tanglewood. J I, the host, is super chill and responsive. Looking forward to another stay.

Fantastic, tranquil getaway!
The house was beautiful. Lots of charming detail. Super comfortable, extremely quiet, and great for a get-away. We spent five days with our six year old son and had a fantastic time exploring the area and hiking nearby trails. Lots of really fun games of chess. Johnny was a wonderful host and we had everything we needed during our stay. Highly recommend! Wish we'd stayed longer!

Beautiful Berkshires escape
We had a wonderful winter weekend at Johnny's beautiful Berkshires home. The house has everything anyone would need, and music lovers like us were thrilled with the instruments, memorabilia, and amazing vinyl record collection. Johnny was very responsive to any questions that we had. This provided the perfect escape from the city for some snowy solitude!

Great getaway
This is such a sweet spot, really great vibes in this cabin. The instruments and the record player were a big hit with our kids (10 and 13). The radiant heating makes it super cozy, and the bathroom has a dreamy little tub and steam shower. My only caveat is that since there's one bathroom, might be best for one family. I was sad to leave.

Perfect winter getaway
Our stay at Johnny's home was exactly what we were hoping for. The house is warm and cozy with ample lounging space and an endless supple of great vinyl. Our toddler had a great time exploring the decor and enjoying the open layout.
Johnny is incredibly communicative and helpful, even sending us recommendations for restaurants in the area. It was just what we needed for a weekend away.

Wonderful stay!
Johnny's home was absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway from Boston. My partner and I visited in January 2021, after working from home for many, many months and in great need of a weekend away from the city. We enjoyed snowshoeing in the woods behind the house, sledding in the front yard, and cooking delicious meals. The house was super cozy even though it was in negative temps outside. As music nerds, we very much appreciated Johnny's record collection and the personal touches around the house. We hope to be back soon!

A-Frame Oasis
Everything about this homes warm and inviting atmosphere was perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. With a living room full of an incredible array of records, books and artwork, our conversation and laughter buzzed lively throughout the day. Waking up to a beautiful snowfall was also the icing on the birthday girls cake while visiting too! Would definitely recommend for anyone that wants to get away and reconnect with friends or family :)

We had a very nice stay. The cabin is in tip top condition. The smart TV in the basement has Netflix, Youtube, Hulu and Prime Video to keep us entertained. The kitchen is well equipped. Our host Johnny is very responsive. He even dropped off some hangers for us when I texted him to ask where I could find some in the house. An excellent supermarket Big Y is about 10 minutes away where all kinds of international grocery is available. There is even an outlet mall right by the market if you are looking to do some shopping. It is a great getaway for a family.

A beautiful property that is accessible yet a quiet retreat. A cabin with all modern amenities, and a few extras. Spotless, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Beautiful vintage furniture add to the charm. A complete kitchen replete with cookware and basic supplies. Really beautiful yard and trails within the property. There is a music/art/American literature theme waiting to surprise you! And an enormous collection of American folk music in particular that one could spend days listening to. It is close to many Berkshire trails (recommend Basin Pond trail) and to Lee, Lenox and Stockbridge. We couldn't have asked for more and are already looking to book our next stay at Johny's place.

Relaxing escape to the Berkshires
What a fantastic find! Celebrating my husbands 50th couldn’t have been better in this pristine home nestled in the Berkshires. Three stories of incredible wood work, bedrooms on every floor, and a beautiful kitchen and bathroom. The home is warm and cozy and invites you to experience the simple, relaxing pleasure of listening to great music. We went hiking in Pittsfield, ordered delicious Italian take-out from Frankie’s in Lenox and enjoyed cocktails back at the house by the fire pit. Johnny was a very gracious host ensuring we had what we needed at the house and providing great recommendations in the area. Thank you, Johnny!

We were the first to stay at Johnny’s home and it was an incredible stay!
Johnny was attentive to all of our needs. He was incredibly responsive to our communications. He reached out to us a number of times just to ask if he could suggest some activities for us to do. He has a number of trails on his property and he took us on a guided tour of those trails. It was a perfect getaway. Thank you Johnny!

Lovely Stay in the Berkshires
We very much enjoyed our stay at this special property. The house has a unique design and build, and it is surprisingly roomy given its relatively small footprint. We were able to comfortably house six people. The loft bedroom is beautiful, with a comfy hammock swing, but picks up noise from the main floor of the house. The basement rooms are totally silent! Only one bathroom, but a lovely one set up for candlelit baths or steam showers. Kitchen is well-equipped, and we also used a grill outside. The house has wifi, and there is a flatscreen tv in the basement where we watched the women's soccer cup final!
The house is equipped with plentiful linens and an excellent washer/dryer setup that we were welcomed to use.
The house has the touches of a musical family, with instruments, recordings, and memorabilia throughout.
The location is quiet and wooded, off the beaten path, with a trampoline set up on the lawn that our kids enjoyed. Washington MA is close to Becket, but 20/25 minutes from markets in Lee, so good to plan shopping. Very close to Jacob's Pillow and the Dreamaway Lodge, not too far from Tanglewood. Good hiking all over the area.
Johnny was extremely helpful in orienting us ahead of the visit and responsive to any questions we had while we were there. He made every effort to make us feel at home, and we did!

Beautiful, warm, and welcoming!
I rented this house celebrating my sister's birthday and upcoming wedding. The owners were so welcoming and warm, giving us local recommendations for delicious food and coffee. We cooked and played piano and guitar the whole weekend. It could have not been a better weekend and the house itself was charming. We would love to stay again!

Comfortable retreat--and a treat for music lovers
A lovely home with character that met needs for a family gathering. Would recommend to other families, and to close friends. Host Johnny was most responsive and flexible with the specifics of our needs pre-arrival. He also gave a helpful tour upon arrival. Close proximity to Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival (for traveling dance fans, easy 15 min drive), Tanglewood (30 mins) and other area attractions. Not super close to towns (Lee and Pittsfield probably closest 30+ mins away) for major grocery stores, etc. So picked up needs en route or while we were out and about.
What made this rental special:
--Owners are professional musicians and welcomed (respectful!) use of instruments in studio by this renting family of musicians. What a treat! (Carol King never sounded so good.)
--Also a lovely (country, indie, +) vinyl collection and turntable.
--Fully equipped kitchen that was pleasant to cook in.
--Super comfortable, supportive beds; overall clean, well-maintained. Steam shower looked great, but too hot for it!
--Lovely farm market 20 mins away for super fresh everything. Tiny, but a treasure.
--Dreamaway Lodge just 5 mins away!! (easily the best food/drinks/music retreat for miles!)
Details that may matter to some:
--Privacy: only one bedroom "door" (double on ground floor). Upstairs master BR, which occupies the whole "upstairs" has a curtain at the top of the stairs, as does one of two downstairs door-less singles (both adjoining the music studio).
--Heat: We picked the hottest week of the year to travel--an unusally blazing and humid mid-90s mid-Aug. No A/C (typical in New England countryside)--so need to be smart with fans to cool down house at night. (Worked fine all but one super hot night.) The basement was a blessed, super cool retreat even in the hottest midday.
--WIFI: none in house. Johnny was very helpful in connecting us with a few neighbors if we needed to "park nearby" for urgent business WIFI access. One of our guests created a hotspot from the Verizon cell access.
All around--we recommend this as a great family gathering spot!
