The room was comfortable. The swiveling TV allowed for easy viewing from different seating areas and the bed. The whirlpool tub was amazing but felt awkward and a little dangerous getting in and out of it.

Staff was great. Little touches were appreciated like the cookies and the coffee availability. Ceiling fan in our room was nice for circulation (otherwise could have been a little stuffy in an interior room with no external window)
We had one of the rooms that had a little stained glass window above the door. The light from the hallway shone through all night so the room was never completely dark (which is something I personally need to sleep well). Not a deal breaker but if I come back I would ask to have a different room. Also it could be a bit loud at times in the morning when the staff brought up the coffee to the second floor.

Location is great, right in the old town close to many nice restaurants.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The room was a good size and very comfortable.
Loved this hotel and Durango.
Nothing, would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful
Outside stairs to room were difficult. We are 75 y o. They were snowed and icy and very ster

We didn’t know that we booked an “interior room” which means that it doesn’t have any windows. Luckily we were able to switch for a room with a view at the same price, just smaller bed.
The room was well equipped for the price, lots is towels, and even bath robes.
It wasn’t clear the last king size room we were able to book had no windows. But ended up changing it.

Historic luxury
The property was great. It was booking.com that i do not trust. After making my reservation, they suggested that i upgrade for a view. This was a scam. Also, i did not pay the total price quited by booking.com, but 15$ more for “incidentals”. Huh???

The hotel is well kept and has great character. The room and bed were nicely done and comfortable. Free parking. Great breakfast.

The hotel was in a great location. The train, shops and restaurants were all within walking distance. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. We had an interior room, it was bit different not having a window. We got some really great pictures on the train to Silverton.
We were surprised to find out there was an addition $15 charge at check in. It was for parking, Wi-Fi and breakfast. Make sure to get down to breakfast early, the eggs dish seamed to over cooked the later you got to the breakfast station.

I liked the Victorian style decor, and the history of the hotel.
We did not get the room that we chose through booking.com, all the amenities that were described in the website were not accurate to the room.

It's like a quantum leap, everything is amazing from building to staff.

Old style charm with lovely staff.Great location & gorgeous choc chip cookies!
Not enough space at breakfast.

The General Palmer is a lovely, well taken care of, old hotel. The rooms have all been updated with plumbing, fixtures and even heat exchangers to keep rooms cool when it's hot outside. Just a very gracious property! Plus it's in a perfect location right in the historic district!
The breakfast was great, but it was the same every morning. Since we stayed three nights, it would have been nice to have a little variety!

Location was great to be able to walk to anything I needed - shopping, restaurants, supplies for the rest of vacation. Loved Durango, had an early walk around the neighborhood.
Room was comfortable and quiet. But I couldn't figure out how to turn off the ceiling fan. If I had stayed another night I would have asked for help.
4.3
the main building and the room were great
we were not in the main building with no lift and no help to carry suitcase.
The rooms are not well insulated, TV of other room was very noisy throughout the night.
4.3
has its own parking area and the beds are very clean and comfortable.
I do not have any complaints.
4.3
friendly staff
could hear from room to room

Everything! I have done a lot of traveling and stayed in a lot of hotels. But none of them compared to
General Palmer. What a great hotel and the staff was over the top. Have already make my next reservation.

We are always happy with our stay here. Great location, very clean, and staff is exceptional.
4.3
The beds
No breakfast to speak of. Apparently "continental" breakfasts are being scaled back to barely nothing. Poor quality of a few small pastries, and not much of anything else.
4.3
The location was fantastic and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The hotel was pretty and the room was nice and comfortable.
I would have liked a fridge and microwave but I knew there wouldn't be one so I was mostly ready for it. The room description said balcony but the balcony wasn't close to our room.

I love staying in historic hotels.

historic and cool
it was great
4.3
proximity to train
the headboard was cloth and hadn’t been cleaned. I have a dust allergy and I thought I would die after 2 nights.

Great building and ambiance.
Friendly staff.
The room was nice but the TV was really small and next to the bed so couldn't watch it from it.
