About this cabin rental

You'll have plenty of privacy here, as the cabin is located on its own private acre with a private drive. And, of course, you'll be just a short drive away from all the fun and excitement of Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg! We know you'll enjoy your stay!
You can sit out on our deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise, or in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Enjoy grilling with a mountain view, whether you prefer propane or charcoal, we offer both!
So come on up and enjoy the best of what the Smokies have to offer!

Location: Next to Dollywood, 3 mile Pigeon Forge, 10 Miles from Gatlinburg Area, Tennessee, USA
The cabin sits on 1 FULL acre atop of Parrot Mountain above Dollywood and Splash Country. Parrot Mountain Park is at the bottom of our hill! While here, you can listen to the Dollywood steam train whistling around the next mountain off in the distance while watching the steam roll out from the treetops. The cabin setting is quiet with the only noise being the local wildlife going about their day. Also during certain times of the day, you can faintly hear the tropical birds singing from the Parrot Mountain Park below. You can drive to the bottom of the mountain (1/4 mile) and there is the entrance to Dollywood and Splash Country. We also have easy access to all the bypasses into the Pigeon Forge Strip and Gatlinburg without the headache if getting trapped in the slow traffic jam on the main strip. Instead, pick where you want to go and inject yourself into that spot from the simple back routes in no time.
The cabin is surrounded by woodlands on all sides, except of course for the clearing of the view, have seclusion while still being in the middle of it all at the same time! We took a long time to find this perfect location. We did not want a cabin built on a shear cliff (if you have kids or a long night with friends, no need to worry about going skydiving unintentionally), we also did not want a cabin built right on top of other cabins with the feel of having a cabin in a condo development (the whole point of getting a cabin is to be in the woods not another neighborhood). For us, we needed privacy and did not want to look at 4 other decks while relaxing on ours. This cabin fits the main criteria! We are sure you will also appreciate it yourself!
A campfire pit in the front so you can roast marshmallows while checking out the daytime view of the mountains or nighttime lights of the Pigeon Forge Strip, and Gatlinburg Ski Slope, while still having the feeling of camping in the woods high up on the mountain ALL at the same time!

**FAQ'S**
Question:
We are bringing small children, where are the sleeper sofas located in the cabin?
Answer:
The cabin has 3 levels.
First Floor Media Room, Large LED TV, Xbox 360, Xbox This room has 2 red microfiber queen-size sleeper sofas. The children usually sleep here if we have friends staying in the attached King Size bedroom. If it's just us, our kids sleep in this 1st-floor master bedroom with the 36' Flat Screen Wall Mount TV and watch their kid shows/sleepover thing and then they are out. This floor is separated from the top 2 floors by an enclosed stairway (keeping out the top two levels' noise).
The 2nd level is the living room/dining/kitchen/master w/jacuzzi tub/fireplace/main deck. This floor's leather couch folds out into a queen sleeper as well. (if you want your children on the same floor with you). The second floor is open (aside from the bedroom) to the game loft on the 3rd floor.
On the 3rd floor is the pool table, tv, darts, and sitting table. We positioned it this way because we could then stay up later, while the kids were in bed, and enjoy the rest of the cabin/game room/hot tub/deck, while the kids were asleep downstairs undisturbed due to the stairwell. The game room is even farther from the 1st floor reducing any 'wake up noise' while the adults were being adults.
Question:
How close are the other cabins next to the Thistle Britches Cabin?
Answer:
Thistle Britches sits on 1 full acre and is on the highest elevation of all the cabins on the mountain. The cabin is surrounded on 3 sides by woodlands, and open to the front view with various trees.
Here is the perspective sitting on the deck facing out towards the view from the cabin:
Right of the cabin:
To the right is 180 degrees of pure woodlands, that grade up 250 feet to the sloping ridge of the mountain, on the other side of the ridge is another 100 acres of pure woods. If you take the short trail up there you can see a 30-mile view of the Valley on the backside of our mountain.
Behind the cabin:
Behind the cabin is 100% woodlands. The ridge follows straight back from the side of the cabin towards the back about 500 feet until the ridge slopes down and ends at a point. I have walked back through the small trail on the ridge to the point and found an awesome 320-degree view of the valley and Smoky Mountains and LeConte. It is at this point you tell is where the Indians and civil war soldiers would have used to spot game or use as a lookout point.
Left-Front Corner of the Cabin
This is the 1/2 of the acre we have that contains woodland, and small brush and gently slopes down 400 feet to the end of the road below, further down the slope is a cabin of which is well hidden and more than far enough away.
Right - Front Corner
The front of the cabin contains plenty of trees to block the neighboring cabin of which is about a football field length away, this is the closest cabin to ours which is a very good distance. This neighboring cabin also is set up so that their deck is on the other side so any visitors there are on the other side of the cabin from us.

Pet Fee is $150: As dog lovers ourselves, we allow up to 2 dogs.

Such a wonderful stay! Beautiful views, private, yet so close to everything!!! A nice yard for my dogs! We come every year for the Jeep invasion and this by far is our favorite cabin that we have rented! Hoping to stay here again next year!!

Great stay, had a great time.

Four of us rented this cabin for two nights. The views are amazing. This property has many amenities suck as a stocked kitchen (plates, cups, etc.), hot tub and a game area. Beds were comfortable as well so sleep was also good.
Minutes to dollywood, which was very nice as the drive back after a long day was quick.
The location/neighborhood is amazing! Take caution getting to and from this property as the grade of the foad/driveway is very steep and narrow but paved, Which could get a bit tricky to maneuver if you met another vehicle.
Overall experience 10/10, will definitely stay again if in the area.

We loved the view. Had a great time at “Thistle Britches “!

It’s hard to pick a place to stay online and not knowing the area. Thistle Britches exceeded our expectations— centrally located, spectacular views, responsive and gracious host, great value, roomy… I could go on & on. Book here— you will not regret it! Highly recommend

What a gorgeous cabin! The location is fantastic! Restaurants, shopping, and entertainment are all just a few minutes away but when you get to the cabin it is so peaceful, quiet and relaxing that you will feel like it is all a world away! There are only 3 steps to reach the main floor of the home from the driveway which made moving our luggage to and from the cabin a breeze! The cabin is warm and welcoming and we felt right at home. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the showers have great water pressure. We enjoyed being able to relax in the hot tub after days of exploring the local towns. The hot tub has a roof over it which was a great surprise. It gives you protection from rain or sun without obstructing the incredible scenery. The privacy of this home is exceptional! There is only one other home on the driveway that you enter on but it is at a lower elevation from this cabin and you can’t see the other home at all from the rooms or deck areas which we loved! You truly have the top of the mountain to yourself. The cabin is very well stocked and linens and towels were provided. The entire road up to the cabin is paved and signs are in place to help easily locate the home. The owners ensure that you have the ability to contact them very easily if you ever need to. We did not have any issues at all and were able to observe the northern lights from the cabin during our stay. Truly a trip to remember! We look forward to staying here again in the future!

This cabin was absolute perfection for our family and had everything we could have asked for. Location - easy to get to and right near Dollywood, but away from the main drag of Pigeon Forge. It's a large lot and there was only one other cabin on the driveway, so it was very quiet and peaceful with an unobstructed view from the wraparound balcony. Groceries, restaurants, and attractions were all within a 5-10 minute drive. The cabin was spacious and all the amenities you could need and then some. Our kids loved the hot tub and arcade as well as having their own floor downstairs. The outdoor sitting area outside under the blooming dogwood tree was so peaceful - I could have sat there forever. Everything was in great shape and working order. So grateful to have found Thistle Britches!

One of best views we have ever had staying in the mountains. The best part was there wasn’t any other cabins right on top of you.

Beautiful home, views, and had all the things we needed.

I have greatly enjoyed my stay at this cabin. The views were so nice to look at each day, especially during sunrise and sunset. The location was absolutely perfect. It was so quiet at the cabin no matter what time I was there. It was also close to town and other nearby cities I wanted to visit. This cabin actually felt like home to me during my stay.
The cabin was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with pans, utensils, seasonings, etc. The bathrooms were also well stocked with towels as well. That was well appreciated from my family.
The downstairs was very nice as well. My dogs and I enjoyed being able to walk outside from the downstairs living area. I would catch myself just taking the view in every chance I could get.
I highly recommend this cabin. It had enough games and things for us to do inside when it rained and it was truly so close to town, so we enjoyed every moment of it. The road was farily easy and paved so we enjoyed that too. I am definitely wanting to come back to this cabin one day in the future!

The property was perfect for our family getaway. Great location, yard was just as pictured with a nice fire pit area to enjoy s’mores, a warm fire and the beautiful weather and views.
The cabin itself was wonderfully maintained with all the necessities you need to get started and then some.
Jamie and Amanda were great. Responded quickly to my questions and communicated very well before and throughout the trip.
Will definitely book here again!

Great location, close to everything but with the feel of seclusion. The property was as advertised and I would def stay again.

We very much enjoyed our vacation at this cabin. It is a stunning location and exactly what we were looking for. Secluded but still near everything. It was amazing to sit on the porch and watch the drone show each night at 8:30 at Dollywood. It's a perfect view. The beds were comfortable as well as the living room furniture. I would like to mention to future travelers a few things to consider.
1. The cookware at the cabin has been overused and is what I would consider unusable. All the non stick cookware has been scratched badly and the coating is flaking off. Bring a skillet with you if you plan on cooking. 2. There are no dressers in the bedrooms so plan on living out of the suitcases. There is a large closet to store the luggage in so it's not in the way.
3. The shower head in the main level bedroom is in pretty rough shape. I never tried the shower downstairs. I sure hope the owners think about replacing it and the cookware. Those 2 small upgrades would make all the difference in the world as far as comfort.
It is such an amazing property and we will definitley book it again should we ever come back to the area. Thank you for sharing your property with us.

What a wonderful place! We were able to enjoy the community and fabulous activities in the area while traveling with our Golden. A home that made our vacation stress free.

Our only problem was that the TV didn’t have instructions and we were unable to watch sports.

Pictures don't do this place justice....its BEAUTIFUL. Property owner was very quick to respond to a couple of questions I had. Will definitely stay here again. I've seen where people say the drive is very steep....we had a 4 cyl. Car and it got up there just fine. Yes its a little steep, but your on top of a mountain with GORGEOUS views...what do you expect, its not going to be flat.

Our stay here was amazing! We loved the property and location! We came up for Jeep Invasion- our first visit during this event and this home was absolutely perfect for our pups and family! This home has a perfect view of Dollywood, we heard the train from the park and just loved the atmosphere! One morning we even had a guest(bear) Down the driveway paying a visit and walking into the woods! This home was a perfect stay and we loved our visit so very much! Jamie and Amanda were great hosts, communication was amazing and we even loved the book with all the details of the property and things to do! While we are always up this way, this is one of our favorite properties by far!! Can’t wait to come back!!!

We enjoyed our stay. We had great communication with the owners. There was a storm that came through and the power went out. My only complaint is that the grass was very high. The landscaping company came during our stay and we had to take down our portable dog fence for him to mow and put it back up.

Quiet location good views, great privacy. Good place just to relax and be near everything.

Very nice cabin and convenient to everything

First of all, wow...what a beautiful view! We enjoyed the hot tub, game room, firepit and big yard daily. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious. Watching the nightly fireworks/drone show and hearing the steam engine from Dollywood was an additional plus to our vacation. The cabin is far enough away to have privacy but a close enough drive to everything we wanted to do. We even had a visit from a bear on our last night. He walked up the driveway and into the woods. Jamie and Amanda were very quick to answer any questions that we had, which was greatly appreciated. It was our first visit to the area and if we ever return we would definitely stay at Thistle Britches again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Peaceful and excellent views. Loved wst hing the firework and laser show from the upper porch each night (courtesy of Dollywood). Plenty of space and well stocked kitchen. Owner was easy to communicate with!

Lovely cabin that overlooks Dollywood. Splendid views of mountains. Pleasantly surprised with fireworks every evening, courtesy of Dollywood.

Location was perfect for Dollywood - Easy access to the park. Comfortable beds. The loft upstairs has a pool table. My favorite feature of this house is being able to see the Dollywood fireworks show from the porch. It was great to sit with a cold beverage and enjoy the show from the comfort of the rental!
The owners were responsive. We arrived late and had an issue (couldn’t find the sheets for the pullout). I called and they resolved the issue. I really appreciated that.
I will try to rent again for any return trips!

We had such a great time! The views from this cabin are so beautiful! We were a little scared driving up on that 1st day, but got over that right away, once we new where we were going. We saw a bear 🐻 on our second day. We went zip lining, jet skiing, site seeing, out to eat, shopping, etc. But nothing beat being at the cabin. Even our teens said it was the best part of our trip. We played pool, had a bonfire, watched the drone show at Dollywood almost every night, and also enjoyed the hot tub. Hearing the birds from Parrot Mountain & the train from Dollywood were a bonus. The host were always available to help with anything we needed. We would 100% stay here again!
