The property itself is beautiful and lived up to expectations based on the way it was advertised with a few exceptions. The cleanliness was lacking in a few areas and two of the showers did not drain properly from the very first day. The kitchen was only stocked with the very basic tools. We had to go out and buy a wine bottle opener. The hot tub that we were really looking forward to did not work and the owner knew this for a few weeks leading up to our stay but didn't let us know ahead of time, so we were disappointed. We rented the boat from the owner but he failed to tell us that when the engine is warm, the boat sometimes doesn't restart. Luckily we didn't get stranded anywhere at night and learned we had to keep the engine on at all times. Overall though, the property is beautiful and at a great location on the lake. We really enjoyed the fire pit area and being on the water every day in between all the rain that was coming up from the Texas area. We were able to escape the oppressing heat that the rest of the country was experiencing that week, in those beautiful mountains and the gorgeous lake.

First, let me say that this property has the most beautiful views and the home is lovely as well. For those considering staying here, you will not be disappointed in the home or the views. We rented a boat from the Lands End Marina for the week, so we were able to enjoy the water everyday for fishing and tubing. The kitchen has every appliance you'd hope to have from an awesome waffle iron to plenty of silverware. There were only a few things that were challenging: to get this view the driveway is really steep so consider that, along with a crack in the driveway from a prior earthquake event that prevents parking over that area. The area under that may need attention with additional support or dirt or added retaining wall as viewed from lower deck. The home is waterfront so that is a huge positive and a reason we rented here, but the access to the water really could use handrail support for the elderly and even moms holding babies etc. If you fall, you will roll a ways downhill. It didn't keep us from enjoying our time or walking down, it's just something to consider for safety. Bright harbor lights could be turned off when home is being rented, shine really bright in bedrooms.Owner was there on arrival, which for some renters they may have enjoyed that part as mentioned in other reviews, but it made us feel a bit awkward, as he stayed and chatted for over an hour. A list of what to look for or do at check out would have been fine. Overall lovely and recommend.

As other reviews have said, this is a gorgeous location on the lake. The views are incredible. The house is custom and beautifully constructed. The house is in overall good condition though it has a variety of minor deferred maintenance issues (missing paint, leaking faucets, etc).
Todd was very responsive to questions and drove up from Atlanta to troubleshoot the boat that wasn't starting properly once the engine was hot.
A few things to be aware of that were not on the listing:
1. There is a charge for the boat.
2. Cell coverage is terrible in the area. Verizon and AT&T both have minimal coverage at the house and none on the lake or on the roads in the area. T-Mobile has no coverage at all.
3. Wi-Fi connection is slow and they tell you to only use it minimally because they are limited to only a few GB per month.
4. The house is 30 minutes or more from the nearest towns with grocery stores (Franklin or Topton) or major highways. The house itself has a very steep paved driveway. Then there's a half mile of well maintained single lane gravel road, then about 15 miles of narrow windy paved mountain roads to get back to the highway.
So, in short, if you're looking for a gorgeous home in a beautiful location with a great excuse to disconnect from the rest of the world, this place is perfect.

2 weeks and it still wasn’t enough! Todd and Dana were great hosts prior to and during our stay. This house is top notch, great location, amenities and spacious enough for a group of 11 including four kids under 13. The kids room was perfect for all of their late night shenanigans. We fished, cruised the lake, tubed, hiked to the waterfalls, went white water rafting and took a trip to Wayah Bald and took in spectacular views! Could not ask for more!

Beautiful and Peaceful place
The house is located on the Nantahala Lake which is a sweet water lake. It was so nice to stay at this place and enjoy every minute without cell service thus no interruptions from the rest of the world. The quietness is so relaxing and the night sky full of stars - it was amazing to see what your eyes can only see. I do not know if it matters but when we stayed there there was NOT even one mosquito! Definitely hope to be back there some day. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy what this place has to offer.

Family vacation
We stayed at multiple houses around the area, and this house was one of the best. Spacious, with enough bedrooms for everyone. Very clean and fully equipped. Perfect location right on the lake, with an included pontoon boat. You don’t have to worry about renting and returning a boat from the marina (big plus). The satellite internet was slow, but just perfect to stay connected when needed. If you complain about slow internet at a lake house, don’t go to a lake house 😊. Hot tub was great, fully functional.
Only complaint about the house, it would be nice if the deck was covered, so when it rains you could still sit outside.

Lovely house on an exquisite lake
Lake Nantahala isn’t close to much of anything, but once you’ve dealt with the logistics of being remote (for instance, 35 minutes to the nearest grocery store), you can’t ask for much more than what this house and location provide. Plenty of space, well appointed kitchen, big bedrooms, great decks. And the lake! I’d highly recommend this house to anyone interested in boating, hiking, or just relaxing. Other reviewers have noted that the Internet can be spotty, so we did prepare for that ahead of time with some downloaded videos for the little ones, but in actuality we had no Internet issues whatsoever since we were never taxing the service with lots of devices.
One last bit of advice: if you can, try and arrive your first time before nightfall. Lake shore Drive is narrow and a little steep in places, so it may be intimidating if you arrive at night.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Thanks to Dana and Todd!

Pros and Cons Lists
We enjoyed our stay at the house. We would certainly book it again. The Cons listed below are only trivial issues. The Pros are legion.
Pros of Nantahala Lakefront Lodge
1. Comes with a pontoon boat, 1-person kayak, and 3-person row boat

7. DVD and VHS selection
8. Excellent Master Bedroom and bath
9. Large kids room with 4 beds with DVD/VHS combo

Less than expected
The location was great. Access to the dock was easy and having a boat was perfect. The house was clean and spacious for our family of 12. However, considering the high cost of the rental, we were very disappointed that the advertised WiFi was limited along with other issues. When we checked in were told we wouldn’t be able to stream movies due to a limited amount of band width. Also numerous light bulbs were out, Ice maker dispenser did not work, oven display did not work making using the oven a challenge. We heard animals in the second floor attic and Contacted the owner but no action was taken. There were some problems with the hot tub.
Although the owner met us at check in there were no written instructions for using the property nor checkout instructions. No guides for the area, things to do, see, shopping, restaurants, hiking etc. like we have found in all other places we have rented. Due to limited cell service we were shocked to find the house phone did not work as a backup for an emergency.

Family vacation
The house was comfortable beautifully furnished and great for all ages. The setting on the lake with the addition of the Boat, kayak and rowboat was a plus. It is my first time renting in NC but my son said it was the nicest house and setting and he did it before. It was a bit difficult getting to the house with a steep paved driveway and a steep path to the dock but the views are incredible.. We ranged in age from 5 - 73 and all had a great time. Todd met us and showed us how to use the boat and hot tub. Thx Todd. We had a great week.
Great for a family or multiple families

Lovely getaway
Really beautiful and spacious house. Boat and hot tub were great additions. Kids enjoyed football table too. The beds were really comfortable! Great location for hiking. Lake was very serene and marina had cute restaurant with large portions. Driveway to house is a bit precarious. Would not attempt winter rental without AWD. Overall a really nice week.

Cleanest vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in
Had a blast on the lake and on the boat. This home was very clean, whenever we rent a VRBO my sister and I always have to do some cleaning when we first arrive, not here. We just unpacked and started relaxing. The house was perfect, big enough for our group of 10, adults and teens. Everyone had space to spread out, the teenagers actually had fun watching VHS movies in the kids room after a full day on the dock and boat. I just can’t say enough good things about this home. It’s 5 stars for sure. It did have some quirks, the ovens and fuses, but nothing that would stop us from renting it again, which I can’t wait to go back!

Great Escape!
Just beware that you will not have cell service & their internet is extremely limited. I had 4 teenage boys who were NOT pleased by that unexpected update. Beyond that, it was a great house, the spa was perfect, and using the pontoon for daily runs of pulling the kids around the lake was loads of fun!

Wonderful week at the lake!
It was super fun! We loved the home. Todd and Dana were lovely and accommodating. The bedrooms were comfortable and there was plenty of room for indoor and outdoor dining. We spent all of our time on the lake tubing and swimming and fishing.

Perfect get away
The lake was amazing-very little boat traffic. Todd and Dana were great to work with. Only problem was the lack of cellular service and Wi-Fi was spotty. I guess it just means you need to be prepared to relax!

AMAZING!!!!!
This was one of the best vacations our family has ever experienced! Todd and Dana are so nice and so gracious. Their lake house is absolutely one of the most beautiful homes that our family has been blessed to enjoy! Nantahala Lake is so very beautiful and pristine! The beautiful mountains surrounding it are absolutely God's gift! The water is a teal blue, and you can see your toes in it. It was such a blessing to be able to rent Todd and Dana's beautiful Bentley pontoon. Our 11 year old grandson learned to water ski on Nantahala Lake! Our family made wonderful memories every day. Thanks to Todd & Dana!!! We were an hours drive from Bryson City, where we tubed, hiked, ate out, and shopped. What a beautiful, easy drive! We were only 30 minutes from the Nantahala Outdoor Center, where we whitewater rafted and zip lined. Also, we discovered a beautiful waterfall just a short hike from the lakeshore!

Had an amazing stay at this property- Nantahala Lake is breathtaking! House was wonderful, loved the pontoon, and the hot tub was nice to have! Road to the house, distance to any towns, & the steep driveway were the only slight drawbacks, but the house and lake made it worthwhile- we would definitely stay here again.

Lovely!
We came back for our second visit to Lake Nantahala at this same home with my family :) This is a beautiful, peaceful place for all as well as a fun and entertaining for the kids. You don’t have to leave the house except for groceries. Enjoy!

The best family vacation
Todd and Dana, thank you for sharing your home with us. The three generation family vacation was the best. The lake is absolutely beautiful as is the house. The pontoon boat was a terrific addition. My “water rat” grandchildren never left the lake. We saw the 4th fireworks from the boat and they were spectacular. Yes, the wifi is a lot sketchy, but being mostly unplugged for the week actually ended up allowing us to make some of the best family memories we have in a while. The kitchen was large and well equipped for our big breakfasts and dinners. The big dining room table was excellent for our meals together and enthusiastic card games after. We watched a movie or two in the den, most enjoyed the hot tub. But the boat, swimming off the dock, and renting a jet ski was were we spent most of our time. This is something we try to do every year. We have used VRBO for the last 20+ years. This house exceeded our expectations. Again, thanks for everything it was all absolutely the best!

Nice, but very secluded
Lake & Mountains we're beautiful! So peaceful and relaxing. Fishing not very fruitful.(I am an avid angler) Stream or river full of trout! Yard & Driveway very steep, dangerously! House was beautiful, internet sucks! Not very useful. Phone service non-existent!! Boat nice, lake very big & people were very nice. Waterfalls were amazing. Hiking tough, all rough climbing trails. (Not for old or kids). AC not very cooperative, upper hot as hell, rest of the house very cold. Thermostat don't listen to changes. Overall very relaxed!!

Luxury is right!
This house is GORGEOUS! The pictures do not do it justice. It is huge. Clean. Great amenities. Tons of beds. Beautiful view. Fun pontoon boat (only a 50, so no waterskiing). We saw a smaller house for sale as we were walking around the neighborhood. They were asking $900K. This house is probably worth twice that. It's really spectacular.
It has a nice easy walkway down to the dock. It's fun to run and jump off the dock and swim in the lake. The pontoon is great for exploring the lake, picnicking, and visiting the rope swings and waterfalls. The hot tub is great. The kitchen is to die for. Huge, everything you could need, granite counters. Big dining table for evening meals.
We only left for one day to shop at Waynesville and go to Sliding Rock. We spent the rest of the time at the house or on the boat and loved every minute of it. Kids can't wait to go back!
