About this cabin rental
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS!
Pets are welcome but limited to two dogs less than 25 pounds each. No cats allowed.
NOTE: THERE IS NO SMOKING IN THE CABIN! THIS RULE IS STRICTLY ENFORCED!
Peaceful, river cabin just minutes to the beach. Enjoy the restful ambiance of this well decorated 2 bedroom, 1 ½ bath cabin on Bon Secour River. You can relax while viewing the river on the extended deck. Canoe up the river and return to a simpler life of floating and cruising under the live oaks in the provided canoe. Community pool just steps away and an on premise boat ramp, so bring your boat. You can fish for dinner right from your deck, clean your catch in the outside sink/cleaning station then cook your dinner on the charcoal grill. Just a few minutes to Gulf Shores Parkway with all the activities ( go carts, putt putt, water park and amusement park, etc.) and restaurants. Shopping galore…close to Tanger Outlet and the shops of Pelican place. Orange Beach is tops for deep sea and inshore fishing with para sail and dolphin cruses too. You can leave the crowds behind and return to paradise on the river with turtles, dolphins, cranes, herons, pelicans, seagulls, ducks, and abundant wildlife to view. Enjoy the best of all worlds here on the Alabama Gulf coast. Peaceful quite family atmosphere but, just minutes away are a Water park, putt putt, go carts tracks and an amusement park. The beach is only a few minutes’ drive with the Hang Out available to eat and play. The world famous bar Florabama is just a short drive to get your groove on and party the night away. There are fabulous shopping, restaurants and a movie theater at the Wharf with a huge Farris wheel for amazing views. Check out the concert schedule at the amphitheater for great music events. Festivals abound in this area. It seems there is always a festival going on here or close by i.e. Hangout music fest, Shrimp fest, strawberry festival, sausage festival and the Hot air balloon festival (always on Father’s Day) just to name a few. Mardi Gras is a month long event here in the Mobile area (only 50 minute drive) with parades almost every day and even here on the river is a boat parade floating right by our complex.
We have a newly built fish and farmers market in Foley on Friday and Saturdays but you can always get great fresh produce at Braxton’s in Robertsdale. We are right in the middle of the harbors for our shrimp boat fleet so very close by your will find the freshest shrimp and seafood right off the boats….visit Aquilla, Bon Secour Fisheries, Billy's, Joe the Shrimp Man, or Safe Harbor. Dollar General is right up the street and we have great grocery stores Publix and Winn Dixie with a brand new Rouse’s in Gulf Shores.
If it should dare rain we have a movie theater close by and a bowling alley in Foley also.
You would be hard pressed to eat at all the restaurants we have in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Right next to the cabin is The Galley Restaurant for the best burgers and pizza's you've ever had. Close by and not on the beaten path is the Tin Top restaurant with a quaint outside oyster bar and with music seasonally. Some personal favorites include Island Wings and Cactus Cantina just south on highway 59. Also don’t forget to get to Jesse’s in Magnolia Springs – winner of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Gulf Coast Fiery Four steak contest. King Neptune’s has been featured in Coastal Living as one of our favorite seafood dives.
Schedule your deep sea or inshore fishing trips in Orange Beach or dolphin cruise, parasail trips, zip line and helicopter rides too.
Naval Air Station Pensacola, home of the world famous Blue Angels, is about a 30 minute drive so if you're lucky enough to be in the area during one of their shows, you don’t want to miss it. Blues on the Beach is usually the second weekend of July and the Blues Homecoming is in November. It is absolutely thrilling! Also, make time to visit the Naval Aviation Museum located on NAS Pensacola. A must see for aviation enthusiasts! Please check with NAS Pensacola Public Affairs to ensure security measures are not in effect for civilian guests.
All that and more are available to you but the best part is you have all the peace and relaxing you can handle here on the river to come back to. Bon Secour river is brackish so perfect for speckled trout and redfish. You can always cast net for mullet if you choose. We have crab, turtles, and more varieties of birds than you can count. The boat ramp is just steps from your door or the community pool is only a short stroll in the other direction. So much to do or you can do nothing at all and watch the tide come in and go out while the sun sets on your perfect vacation.

Enjoyed the scenery and privacy. Pool was nice. Wasn't as clean as I'd expect (dusty, towels had mildew smell) and not enough storage or hooks to hang things.

Had a wonderful family vacation. To bad we didnt have more time to stay longer.

The view was beautiful! The cottage is cozy, inviting, clean. And for the first time ever in a rental, the bed was super comfortable!!! We met one of the full time residents while we were there and also another rental property owner and both were very nice and welcoming. There are ducks and cranes and turtles to watch while sitting outside on the cottages pier. We highly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the quiet and relaxing vibe this place has.

Enjoyed our stay, the canoe and fishing on the river was really the highlight. Was nice to relax in the pool after a hot day.

Wonderful location! My daughters and i loved that we were minutes from the beach, restaurants, and attractions but got to enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the river. Would certainly stay there again!

We wanted to have a relaxing, enjoyable week away from home. We hit the jackpot with this place! We enjoyed every bit of it from the fishing, beautiful sunsets, feeding the ducks and turtles. We will definitely stay here again. The owner is absolutely amazing.

This was the perfect spot for our family. My boys need space to roam and be active...this was perfect....plus not far from the beach without the crowded condo stays.

At the beginning of our booking we were emailed by host because “booking two weeks before a trip is scammy” she claimed. However, we talked & it was verified & booked. The pictures look great & there was a long list of things to do around the area.Little did we know that long list was provided to take away from what the “river house” was lacking. The pictures & descriptions provided details of things that were actually there. No porch swing, a run down fish cleaning station, & a “river” that was stagnant bend. It wasn’t refreshing at all. The houses are so close together that little privacy is given & there’s an apparent HOA which should also be mentioned upon booking. We chose this place because it was pet friendly & we chose to bring our 2 dachshunds rather than boarding them for the weekend. Our trip began rocky when I didn’t realize I only booked a house for a group of 4 & I had 6 in our group. Two of us bought hotel rooms to fix the situation after being threatened to be kicked out by the host She claimed only 4 are allowed due to HOA guidelines but both parties next to us had more than 4 all weekend. She also had a ring doorbell camera to watch while you’re there. We left a day early due to doing everything we wanted to do.I started receiving hateful aggressive messages from the host with claims of things we did while there which have all been untrue. The rugs have pet hair embedded in them.If you stay please take before pics of EVERYTHING so you aren’t wrongfully accused!!

The host was very responsive, location was close to the beaches, zoo and local restaurants. Canoeing in the river was awesome and caught some fish. We will be going back again.

Great place on the river. Family had a blast canoeing, fishing and lounging on the deck. Communication with the host was fantastic and she was always quick to respond. House had everything we needed and the deck was secure for the dogs to enjoy the sun. Not a lot of grass for the fur babies but they had no trouble finding a favorite spot. We will definitely be coming back.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at your river cabin! It was extremely peaceful and quiet, just what a semi-retired couple was looking for. Really enjoyed a paddle down the river in the canoe. Off the main drag, but still near several nice dining establishments, and the beach. It's on my list of place to go back to!
Regards, Gaylon & Dianne

Such a beautiful and relaxing place! Feeding the turtles and watching the blue herons were the highlight of our Morning and evening. Location is wonderful! You have the feeling of seclusion while stores, restaurants, and beaches are within a reasonable distance. There was some of these items (toilet paper- paper towels and trash bags) We had to go to Walmart to buy more of those products there was some but not enough for a week stay. Very well supplied with everything else coffe pot toaster utensils bowls plates etc WE WILL RETURN THANK YOU

This is a beautiful, peaceful retreat with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Beverly is an amazing hostess with great communication. We have stayed here two years in a row and look forward to coming back. The cabin is a short drive to the beach with the peacefulness and serenity of the river.

Found this little gem as an alternative to beach stay while in town for baseball. It was absolutely perfect for a family of 4 who love nature and fishing! Amazing view, clean, good kayaking and fishing. We even caught a few crabs. Great proximity to everything we needed but far enough removed from the tourist craziness. So glad we found this!

Relaxing and quiet! Close to everything but far enough away to stay away from the crowds! Was really surprised that both a cone coffee pot and a Keurig coffee maker were available. Plenty of comfortable furniture and plenty of seating on the porch and deck. So relaxing to sit outside and watch all the wildlife to include turtles, birds and jumping fish.

Every we had hoped for and more.
Peaceful clean.. An over all charming location.
Galley being right next door was a plus and Beverly was so helpful when we had a question.
Thanks for sharing your special place with us

Everything was as advertised. Cleanliness was top notch. Furniture was very comfortable and neighbors in the area (other river cabins) were friendly, quiet and very respectful. Loved being right on the river, viewing shore birds, turtles etc. Seemed like everyone was fishing off their docks. Road noise from CR 10 was heavier than I had anticipated, but certainly not a deal breaker. Host was always accessible and helpful. It was the perfect 3 week spring vacation for my wife and I. We will stay there again.

Quiet place to stay away from all the beach traffic. Very clean and accommodating house.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage right on the river across from 'bird island', what the locals call the island across from the cottage. The cormorants would roost each night and we saw pelicans, an eagle, egrets and blue herons. Pus a ton of turtles. It was very quiet with a nice seating area on the porch and under the house. It was about a 25-minute drive to the beach due to traffic. The beds were comfortable and we really enjoyed the reclining living room furniture. TV worked great. The kitchen was well equipped. The Galley restaurant is right next door and has a new owner whom we met. Our favorite restaurant was the Tin Roof just down the road. It is a short trip to the seafood stores where the boats come in from fishing and shrimping. The owner was responsive to some items the house needed. Bring a hair dryer, life vests (if you want to use the canoe) and your own beach chairs and towels. We also enjoyed meeting some of the neighbors. We plan to come back in 2024!

This house is so charming. It has everything you need for a super comfortable week. The kitchen, livingroom and bedrooms and baths are so charming. The washer/dryer is a bonus. Outside you can watch many birds from the deck and dock. The home is located close to everything just a few miles away. We will stay again next time we are in the area.

Super cute and clean Bon Secour river cottage! We had some cool weather, even for February, but the wildlife viewing up on upper deck made wearing double sweatshirts worth it. There were nice days too. From Minnesota, we were in our element we love. Host is super friendly and her communication answered any questions I had. Lower level deck area is a great seating area. Restaurant nearby was a bonus. Great stay! Thanks! Loved it!

This was a wonderful stay for a month. Communication with the host was quick, straightforward, very clear and timely. Check in was very easy. The property is sparkling clean, comfortable, well appointed and is in a beautiful setting, extremely convenient to shopping, dog park, restaurants, etc. The boat launch was just a few steps away so it was very easy to launch kayaks. On the Bon Secour, we saw dolphins multiple times, a manatee and got in some very successful fishing days. We would like to return for a similar trip.

Cute and convenient cottage easy to access and located next to The Galley (great food, btw) on the Bon Secour (but in oxbow where water gets too low (depending on tides) at times to launch a boat for fishing. Clean and comfortable, an overall great place with super friendly owner. We would definitely go back for a short getaway.

This rental was perfect for what we wanted, a whole house, on the water, central to the beach but also close to the highway so we could sight see the rest of southern alabama without getting stuck in beach traffic. House was so so cute. Turtles swam up to us as we arrived and we watched different birds come and go. It was clean, plenty of space for the two of us although four would have been comfortable as well!

Nice little cottage, ideal for small families
We prefer staying off the beaten path and this was a great fit for our little family. It is a nice little two-bedroom cottage surrounded by similar cottages, river front. Really appreciated having the washer and dryer in the unit. Nice views of the river. Enjoyed napping on the upper porch and hanging out in the shaded areas underneath. Full kitchen with full size refrigerator. The master bedroom bed was quite comfortable. 15ish minute drive from most everything we wanted to do during the trip, and a nice and quiet area which we much prefer over the chaos and busyness of the beach. Also, a community pool is available. And the wi-fi was good. Bring a hairdryer.
Also, worth noting, the cleaning fee wasn't exorbitant like many places on vrbo and similar sites. Service fee was high but that is not on the owners, that's on vrbo. We search for places that do not gouge for those fees. Vacations are becoming harder and harder for regular hard-working Americans in this economy so please know we greatly appreciate that.
Would definitely recommend!

A Nice Relaxing Stay
If you're looking for something different from the usual beach hotel or condo this is a fantastic option. Away from all the heavy traffic but still very close to all the beaches and attractions.
Our 6 year old loved feeding the ducks and turtles in the river and we must've seen 1,000 different types of birds while relaxing on the porch. Very clean and well maintained and great communication with the owners.
The only minor negative was some people in the house next to us having parties every night. Got a little noisy at times but it was not at all a deal-breaker or anything.
Highly recommended!
