About this cottage rental
Jujube has been a much loved vacation rental for almost 20 years.
Recently remodeled, Jujube has a brand new kitchen with high end stainless appliances, an updated bathroom with a marble top double sink vanity and a glass walk in shower.
Other updates inside and out: new larger flat screen televisions in the living room and bedroom, lots of new furniture, a new high efficiency convection wall heater, soft goods (curtains, bedding, towels and more), a new river view hot tub deck with seating area and two new kayaks.
Most recently we have added a private outdoor shower.
We are dog lovers, and the property is super dog friendly. Unlike most vacation rentals, we do not charge a pet fee. We've been able to continue that policy for almost ten years now because our guests have consistently been very responsible dog parents!
______________________________________________
Jujube is a stylish, light and airy one bedroom for two people only.
She is a thoughtfully remodeled and updated vintage cottage on the banks of the Russian River with river access (typically safe May to October) from the yard and down a metal staircase to the seasonal dock. River access is seasonal and never guaranteed.
______________________________________________
It is important to note that the Russian River is not safe for swimming or kayaking from November to April. The river level fluctuates constantly depending upon rain amounts, and the currents can be extremely dangerous.
______________________________________________
After parking in your dedicated off street parking space, you enter the property through a private garden and head down the right side of the house to the sunny riverfront deck, where you will find your outdoor seating area and wood-burning chiminea fireplace, gas grill, hot tub deck, lawn and river access with two kayaks.
There are no houses across the water from you, so it’s just the river and redwoods. Cocktails on the deck, a soak in the hot tub, swimming or kayaking in the river, or just enjoy the sun and scenery.
Entry to the house is via keyless entry code through the central pair of three French doors that open to the deck. Once inside, you will find a spacious one bedroom cottage with river views from the living room, dining room, bedroom and bathroom and a garden view from the kitchen.
Read a book, watch a movie on the large flat screen television or just relax in the living room in front of the wood burning fireplace, in the leather lounge chair or in the vintage rocking chair.
The open kitchen is well-equipped for your stay, ready for morning coffee and toast on the deck or a gourmet meal for two at the river view dining table.
The sun sets over the river and redwoods you see from the comfy, cozy bedroom. There’s plenty of storage, extra blankets and pillows, and another flat screen television.
Off the bedroom is the bath, with a marble double vanity, walk in glass door shower, extra towels and a separate exit to the deck.
Back outside where most guests begin and end their days at Jujube, the river changes hour by hour and season by season, from placid mornings to sunny afternoons to starry nights, which tend to be cool year round.
Light a fire, enjoy a glass of local Pinot. And welcome to Jujube.

The Good: The bathroom and kitchen were great. The bed was also great.
The Disappointing: The online photos showed the living area bright and light. The deck had no sun on it until 4pm each day, and there were only small lamps in the living area so it was dark, with the exception of the bedroom and the bathroom. The kitchen had good lighting. I was grateful for the heater as the house was cold, and you're required to provide your own wood. No coffee filters, but we found a cafe filtre that worked. We were disappointed mostly in the lack of light and left early so as not to spend another dark evening.

This is a cute bungalow for sure with some caveats.
First - When we checked in we found a pile of small pale squishy things on the end of the bed on the window side. There was also a pile of brown 'sand' like dust against the wall right there next to the bed as well. With further investigation we discovered they were termite eggs! And the brown 'dust' is wood dust/termite poo. I looked up and sure enough on the ceiling (which is painted wood) you can see remnants of dead insects and cob/spider webs.
Second - The cottage is directly on the river which is awesome, but on the other side of the river is the 116 main road and so there is traffic noise pretty much most of the day and evening. So sitting out staring at the river you don't get a quiet peaceful soundscape, you get traffic noise.
Third - As some have noted, the wi-fi is pretty weak. In the living room, sometimes, and especially in the bedroom, the television had trouble streaming consistently, which again, not a problem if you don't watch TV at night, but it was the Olympics so... Just be aware.
Fourth- The only fenced area is a very petite from garden area. There is irrigation in this small gravel covered front 'yard', which comes on automatically around 8:30 am. Unfortunately the pipes have come looses and spray water at you as you walk by, it was quite a surprise, but it was warm that day so no big deal...
There are pros:
The bed was reasonably comfortable, the outdoor shower wonderful, kitchen well equipped.

spent our anniversary in this magical spot. We hiked, kayaked, swam, sat in the hot tub, showered outside, cooked, read and relaxed. Watched the ospreys in the tree across the river. Had everything we needed. Very comfortable. Wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you Bridgette!

We really loved this spot. It’s dog friendly, there is a yard for them to play, kitchen was nice, bed was comfortable. They have access to the river and kayaks so we took our dogs out. We had a great time! Would stay here again!

This was our second time staying at the cottage, and my wife me and Mac our dog loved it! It’s great being right on the water, having an outdoor fireplace, a beautiful new deck on the river, two kayaks, and an outdoor shower! Need I say more.

We both loved the property, the access to the river, everything we could want was close by. The house is very cozy and had everything we could want. We also drove to the ocean a few times to let our dog run on the beach. Bodega Bay and Jenner are close by.
The house and property are very private and tucked into the beautiful tall redwoods. We liked the neighborhood and all in all we had a lovely time. We would go back.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The home was clean, in a good location, and in a nice walkable neighborhood. We had a lot of fun using the kayaks. I would recommend the home for a relaxing place to stay on the river.

Lovely, private location on the Russian River with great access to kayak or swim. Loved evenings in the hot tub and had a great morning visit at Armstrong Redwood State Park walking among Coast redwood trees that were over 1,300 years old.. Quick drive through vineyards to Healdsburg.

Spent a too short long weekend here and easily could’ve extended the stay. Has everything you need and the river is a draw early AM - late PM. Beautiful as always, can’t wait to come back!

Location is picturesque. Cute shady sitting area with redwoods you enter from your car, opens onto a lovely deck with views of river and plants that co-exist along the river edge. I was overcome with happiness and continued my joy on entering the cottage. The furnishings were a mix of new and old, with a hip vibe.

The Russian River is one of my favorite places of all time, but my latest visit to the Riverfront cottage was a dream! The space was so lovely. I loved cooking in the kitchen and eating breakfast on the deck. We especially loved our hours spent on the river in the kayaks. We can't wait to go back!

Jujube was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 labs. It’s so close to everything you would want; coast, redwoods and wineries. The dogs loved the river access and small beach a few doors down. Highly recommend this small but well equipped cottage. Thank you Bridgette for sharing your place!

Great stay, all the amenities were available.
We enjoyed the quiet of the property and the local beach area where we brought our dogs.
We would try and go later in the year so that we could take advantage of the river access right from the property as we arrived in April too early for direct river access ( no kayaking this time) we enjoyed the great water pressure in the shower and hot tub under the stars.

Me and my partner enjoyed our stay over there. Bridgette was very responsive for our questions and the house included all the amenities for a joyful stay. Mindful design of the house and beauty of the nature over there are the things we enjoyed most.

Truly the getaway retreat we needed.

The house was absolutely what we had hoped and we loved every bit of it. By far the cleanest hot tub we have ever enjoyed in a short term rental. The kitchen was well stocked and left me wanting for nothing. The bed was very comfortable and the views and privacy indoors and out were outstanding.

Loved the area. Lots of trials to choose from. Close to the ocean. Lots of good places to eat. We loved Baked by the river for breakfast. Lots of small fun stores around the area. Even with a crazy storm going on we enjoyed our time inside cooking for ourselves.

Jujube was just as beautiful in person as in the pictures. The location is stunning. Being able to soak in the hot tub next to the Russian River, looking up at redwoods, just amazing. The house itself is beautiful. We had a terrific time there. Highly recommended.

Very cute property with lots of personal touches that reflect the owner. Great access to charming area towns, Occidental, Guerneville, Monte Rio and Sebastopol. Each township has restaurants to choose from. My dog had a blast at the beach in Monte Rio. Take a strong flashlight if you stay in the Winter months.

My husband and I so enjoyed our stay at this property. It was in a neighborhood near other houses but felt completely private once you walked down the side gate. Watching the fog over the river in the early morning was magical, as were the fires in the cozy wood stove on a rainy day. Water pressure was great which was nice after a day of hiking. Location is nice in proximity to coast, wine country, and redwoods. We will be back!

Great location and very nice house. Unfortunately, upon check-in at 4 p.m., the house was not ready for us-the house was not yet cleaned. We returned a half-hour later and when we walked in, there were no towels in the bathroom, they were in the dryer still wet. We checked the sheets that were on the bed and they were still damp. We stripped the bed and finished drying the towels and sheets and remade the bed. This inconvenience caused us to be late to our dinner reservation. We discovered the next evening that there was no wine opener in the kitchen, which was disappointing because we wanted to celebrate my wife’s birthday with a special bottle of wine. Other than those issues we had a very relaxing time. We would like to return in the near future.

We had a delightful stay and highly recommend this property. The cottage is 'just right', with regards to comfort, appearance, indoor and outdoor amenities, location, proximity to many food and activity options in the area, cleanliness and especially the opportunity to bring our canine companion. Bridgette was very accommodating and timely in providing valuable information. We had a delightful 3 night stay...!
Thanks, Bridgette

Great place to enjoy the beautiful Russian River! Clever layout provides great views from every room. The cottage is in the middle of a cute country neighborhood, but it felt very private. The kayaks and hot tub were a huge bonus. Well stocked with amenities and very dog friendly.
