We spent a few days in the black hills and loved the cabin! Every night we went to sleep with the sound of the stream and in the morning enjoyed the stream again with our coffee on the deck. The cabin was centrally located for everything to see and do on our list. Easy check in and check out, everything we needed to prepare meals, no complaints. We’d stay again!

This cabin is perfect. We loved staying there. Homey, comfy, comfortable. Loved sitting on the deck and seeing the beautiful scenery. Convenient to the different parks. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

The last week of September was a great time to be in the Black Hills, leaves were changing and not much for crowds. This cabin is very centrally located to the many attractions in the area and we enjoyed the evenings at “home”. Around 6pm each evening one of the neighbors feeds the deer, the Moonshine Gulch Saloon is a fun place with very friendly folks. We enjoyed this trip very much!

We enjoyed a peaceful stay. The cabin is comfortable and clean. There is no wifi, internet, cable or land line. Important if you need to conduct business or do research.
Lots of travel brochures and maps were available in the cabin.
The deer were right outside the cabin every day.
This cabin is dead center of the black hills which allows access to every tourist destination.

Hot when we stayed, no A/C. Opening windows helped but then lots of noise from rode below. Despite lack of upstair shower and no A/C, we still enjoyed our stay. Oops, ceiling fan in dining room didn't work. Free standing helped iin bottom bedroom, butbwished there was a second one for upstairs.

Great location to disconnect and enjoy nature! Perfect location if you are planning to do everything the Black Hills has to offer. 4x4 or AWD vehicle recommended for getting to property :-)

Quaint family cabin with a beautiful view in a remote location. We did a lot of site seeing so it was a bit of a drive to get back to the cabin but if you have time for the scenic drive it’s definitely worth the trip.

We fell in love with the cabin and the views. It was so peaceful and cozy. It was a perfect spot to recharge after our days of exploring the hills. Having my coffee on the deck while watching the sun rise and the deer graze was a favorite time of day for me. Our boys enjoyed the nearby walking trail and were so excited about the area that they did not once complain about not having internet. My husband and I hope to come back for our anniversary.

The property is nice enough. The view is to die for. However, there is no cell service, wifi, or, at the time I was there, no land line. Luckily, the bartender at the saloon below let me use his phone, so I did and we enjoyed a beer.
Upon arrival, my wife and I slid off the drive and could go no farther. She backed down the drive while I directed. After driving 10 miles to get a signal, I called the owner. He told me to just gun it and go. We had 800 pounds of camping gear in the back of a front wheel drive Pathfinder. There was no go. The owner was nice enough to drive 40 minutes to come haul our gear up. He later came back to top off the water supply. We rescheduled our visit from 4 nights to 2 to avoid the driving up the drive in the dark or in the rains that were all around us. I had no interest in landing on a roof of a house at the end of the drive. I should have known something when all I saw for 40 miles were ATVs. No cars. No trucks.
Also, come with a full tank of gas and groceries. There's nothing for miles, which is why the locals love it, I'm sure.
I will say this. The owner was very accommodating and patient with me, even though I was angry with him at the time of his arrival for not mentioning this in the description. All is well. We enjoyed our short stay and would recommend it if you have the proper vehicle. FYI...I crashed an Indy car at Texas Motor Speedway at 160 mph, so im not affraid to drive. I just dont want to tumble down the side of a mountain.

A lovely cabin in a beautiful location. Very clean cabin that had everything we needed. We did not have running water the morning we left but overall a great stay.

We really liked this house. There were killer views from the deck. Short walk or bike ride to the Mickelson Bike Trail. So much wildlife to see from the deck. The house is like a mini museum. Love all of the antiques!! Everyday I saw something new. Comfy bed. Slept with the windows open because it was so cool. The smell of pine trees brought me to my happy place. Everything you need is provided. Pots and pans, plates, glasses, silverware, even a corkscrew! The grill could stand to be replaced, and the toilet lid in the upstairs bathroom should replaced. Other than that, it's a great place to stay. Make sure you visit the Rochford Store. Otherwise known as the Small of America. And the Moonshine Gulch Saloon. We have recommended this house to a few of our friends.

The cabin was great. Could use a few little changes like shower curtain made shower very dark and upstairs room had no curtains or blinds so it was very bright in the bedroom in the morning.

This cabin was so cozy and homey!! The views are incredible and the townspeople were super friendly! The only con to this cabin isn’t the cabin itself, it’s the road to get there and the drive way. But once we knew what to expect it was fine. We were surprised that we had no cell service and internet access, but it honestly ended up being the best part of our vacation! My son(15) and my nephew (13) who are always on their phones were finally able to feel what it was like before technology, we played games, watched movies and had many conversations! They loved it as much as myself and my dad did! However the owner of the cabin had a different cell service than we did and they had service in parts of the cabin, but we’re glad we didn’t! I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone! We will definitely be back! Owners are super friendly also, which is a huge plus!

Upstairs mattresses should be replaced. There was also an odor especially in the kitchen. Despite that we did enjoy our stay. Loved all the memorabilia and the view was spectacular. True to word no phone or internet connection. Would stay again!

What a wonderful way to wrap up the summer! We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. I miss my morning coffee in the deck with the stream babbling in the background. The drive there is interesting but manageable. I would recommend this place to a friend.

We arrived after a long drive and were so impressed with the coziness and serenity of this cabin. It was a perfect spot for us to spend time in the morning and evening as we spent our days exploring the are.a. We will definitely keep this spot in mind for future visits. THE VIEW WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!

This property has one of the best locations in the entire Black Hills. Quiet location just above the eclectic Moonshine gulch Saloon in Rochford. Has a view of the Mickelson Trail. Great for bicycling or off roading. Beds for six with two bathrooms (one shower) and plenty of living space. Very enjoyable stay.

Great place to rest your head
This property was overall a great place to stay. There a ton of pros, and a few cons.
Pros:
In the heart of the Black Hills
In the middle of all there is to do in the Black Hills
Fully equipped with everything you need to stay
Very big for its location
Amazing view
Cons:
Very steep driveway and parking (must park on hill)
Deck wasn't sturdy in places (seems to be replaced in spots but not others)
Hand rails on deck are loose and a little scary to let kids be out on it.
While only 15 miles away from most towns, its at least a 30-45 minute drive. mostly gravel and a lot of turns.
No running water on our last day
Overall this is a very great place and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Black Hills. Just keep in mind the amount of driving that will be done and plan accordingly. Rochford was a very nice place and very friendly people. Only reason I took off a star is due to the safety concerns with the deck, since its on the side of a hill and quite the drop if someone were to fall.

Perfect unplugged get away
This was a perfect spot to be central between Deadwood/Spearfish Canyon and the tourist stuff in Keystone and Custer. Also great spot for UTV trails. The lack of cell service and no WiFi was so needed too. No work emails after returning to the cabin after a day exploring and hiking. The views and wildlife around the cabin were also a hit for everyone!

Short stay.
We only stayed one night of three booked. The access to the cabin was too steep to drive.

Slice of Heaven Cabin - Tranquility
Peaceful, cozy, quiet tranquility! The cabin fills you with calm and feels so welcoming. The views are amazing from the incredible windows on the main floor and upstairs bedroom. The deck impressive and offers beautiful views in all directions.. Multiple areas of seating on the giant deck with two tables for meals. Gorgeous seating to read, write or just visit. The only noise is the babbling creek. The owners very thoughtful and kind - so many extras in the cabin, welcome snacks, fantastic books including local history literature and tons of trails and visitor information. We would relax on the deck watching the sunrise and sunset. ,
We did enjoy the warmth of the wood burning stove at night. The Mickelson Trail close. Location is very stunning. We could have just stayed at the cabin the entire vacation.- so relaxing !

Beautiful cabin in a beautiful location!
Cabin worked great as a base camp while touring the black hills with the family of 4. Rochford was a great location, very quiet and close to most everything. Cabin had a beautiful view off the deck and out the windows. We were very happy with our stay! Thanks!

Beautiful cabin in the heart of the black hills. Nicely centrally located so all parts of the hills are easy to see and explore. Very friendly owners who answer questions very promptly and a well appointed cabin. Would definitely recommend this place!

Great place
The place was exactly what I look for in a cabin. Right above rapid creek which was great for fishing. Really enjoyed mornings and evenings on the deck. Would absolutely stay again.

Rochford cabin
Very nice cabin for our purposes of riding the trails. Enjoyed having meals on the deck, being visited by the local wildlife, and of course, visiting with Betsy and the Moonshine Gulch crew along with the people at the Rochford Mall. It was a very relaxing week.

Great Getaway
Area was just what we were looking for. Basically right between Custer State Park and Lead, Deadwood & Sturgis. Nice stream that sounds great from the deck. Rochford saloon and the "Small" were a lot of fun. Great people! Some people comment on the driveway which was no problem. I think they are in the wrong part of the country if they had an issue with it. We will definitely stay again!!!! Very cozy cabin and the cabin made you feel like you knew the landlords with all the memories throughout the cabin. Beautiful deck and can see wildlife all over from deck and also when sitting by the fireplace in cabin.

Peaceful Get Away
This treasure is tucked away in the tiny town of Rochford in the Black Hills. The cabin is very well equipped and well stocked with necessities and more! The property is absolutely breath-taking. Enjoy a glass of wine under stars that seem to be an arm’s length away on an expansive deck with ample furniture. Fall asleep to a gurgling stream and wake up to a symphony of bird songs and the delightful of deer grazing in the side yard. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is it! Lots to do within a 1 1/2 hour drive.
